"And I you, дорогой."
_________
THREE DAYS of being interrogated by police and pushing through reporters when she only wanted a coffee at Jitters. Natalya's life is hectic from her brief imprisonment. The one good thing that has happened is Sally has gone back to the orphanage to recover mentally from the traumatic event.
Luckily, Sally told the police nothing about Mick, or Mr. Mike in her case. After Natalya explained the situation to Sally, the young girl understood not to say anything. Of course, the information Sally does know is barely a crumb compared to the entire truth.
Currently, Natalya walks down the streets of Central City. Her mother wanted her to stay with her and the police thought it was a good idea. Besides, she had to stay in town a little longer because of the murder of her mothers neighbor.
C.C. Jitters slowly creeps into Natalya's view. A small smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She could practically feel the warm liquid sliding down her throat. Her thoughts only making her pull her black jacket around her tighter.
Being early January, the air in Central City is cold, but not unbearable. After all, dealing with Decembers chills made the weather in January seem like summer.
Natalya walks into Jitters, her heels clicking on the ground. She makes her way towards the counter, to see a very oblivious Iris West writing in a journal.
"Iris, if you were my employee, you wouldn't be working here anymore," Natalya giggles innocently, smiling cheekily when Iris looks up to glare at her friend.
A few moments pass until Iris jumps up, standing straight, a shocked expression etched across her face. "Talia, I didn't know you were in town!"
"Really? It's been all over the news, have you not seen it?" Natalya asks, visibly flinching from talking about the whole ordeal.
"No, I've been... preoccupied lately, why? What's on the news?"
"N-nothing of importance," she hastily replies, not wishing to talk about her father any more then necessary.
"Alright..." Iris mumbles suspiciously, "Anyway, what can I get for you?"
"You know, just the usual please, to-go this time," Natalya replies kindly.
"Of course."
Within the next three minutes, Iris gives Natalya her drink and rings her up. After paying, Natalya leaves and heads towards the police department.
She has always preferred walking over driving her car. Cars seem to bulky for the Russian woman. She's loved motorcycles for as long as she can remember, but she could never afford one. The car she has now was a gift from Jenny when she got a new car herself.
Luckily, with temporarily living in Central City, she now has an excuse on why she needs to walk instead of drive. To simply put it, driving takes longer in the chaotic streets of the city. While the sidewalk may not be any better, she's small enough to weave through people with ease. Making it faster to walk instead of drive, where as where she lives, it's faster to drive considering almost no one lives there.
It's saddens her, knowing that when children or abbandoned in larger cities, no one seems to care. While in smaller cities or towns, the matter could possibly be investigated. She just wishes that if a child is left at someone doorstep, then the police would do something, or even the townsfolk.
Natalya takes a sip of her coffee, letting the piping hot beverage glide down her parched throat, trying to forget the topic of abbandonment. She lets out a quiet moan of content, fluttering her eyes closed for a brief moment. Seconds later, she snaps her eyes open once more, not wanting to bump into anyone or accidentally walk into the street.
"Just a little while longer, and everything with the police will be over," she whispered to herself. Some people give her odd looks, hearing what she said. Natalya could care less that they think she's weird for talking to herself, with everything she's gone through and all.
Then brings the thought of Mick, his face flashing through her crowded mind. She wonders how she could have fallen so fast and so hard for a man she barely spoke to. Many would call her crazy for doing so, some would simply say its young love, to Natalya, all you need is one glance to know that you want someone in your life. For her, it took barely two words from the man before she harbored a small crush on him. She didn't realize it at the time, but now, its all clear. All the fog that clouded her mind for the last couple of months is finally lifted, and for once in her life, she feels like she can truly see for the first time.
Natalya snaps out of her thoughts when she sees the police station up ahead. Citizens and officers walk in and out of the large building, some smiling and laughing, others dead serious or upset.
Suddenly, someone runs into her, making her drop and spill her coffee. She jumps out of the way so her hot drink doesn't touch her and possibly burn her delicate skin.
That's when she felt it, a sharp pain shooting through her body at an alarming pace. She can feel her heart pumping loudly, her brain going into overdrive. Blood soaks her white blouse, trickling down towards her pastel pink leggings and nude heels.
She lets out a sharp gasp, her shaking hands reaching down towards the handle of the knife sticking out of her side. She winces, pulling out the sharp blade and dropping it to the ground.
She crumples to the ground, hands covering her gushing wound. Many around her stop, some scream, other pulling out their phones. Stray police officers run over, the first to get there was Joe, who was leaving work to follow up on a lead.
He falls to his knees beside her, scooping Natalya up in his arms, "Talia, look at me, keep your eyes open," Joe says, pressing onto her stab wound firmly, her hands falling to the ground after her body gave out.
Natalya screams in agony from Joe touching her throbbing side. Her eyelids fluttering shut, her life flashing before her.
"Somebody call an ambulance!" Joe screams out, looking around at the crowd, his eyes pleading for someone to call 911. "Stay with me, Natalya, stay with me."
"It hurts, it h-hurts s-s-so much," she stutters out gaping like a fish out of water, tears streaming down her face.
"I know, just stay with me, it'll be alright, we're going to get you to a hospital," he replies, tears welling up in his eyes as he sees the young woman in his arms slowly slip away.
"Goodbye, Joe, th-thank you," with that, her eyes closed, and her body goes limp.
The ambulance wasn't fast enough, no one was. No one could be fast enough to save her.
Natalya Roman is dead.
