Marlena was a sweetheart. Who always no matter if she was hungry gave up her food so people wouldn't have to put their names more than once in the bowl. The kind girl who always help cleaned, even some times babysat the other children younger than her. Everyone in district 7 knew her, and that information got back to a very cruel man who only ever cared for himself, president snow. Who purposely put Marlena's name as the only female in the bowl so she would get picked no matter what.

She was frightened but she never let is show. She stood tall with a slight glare on her face as two guards put a hand on her lower back leading her to the stage. She wasn't scared, well at least that's what her face said, inside she was screaming but she knew is was gonna happen eventually seeing as she sacrificed herself to get other people food to which put her name in the bowl more times.

Shocked was an understatement.
