Chapter four-
The Game

September 19, 1981
Third person

The night of Homecoming was filled with groups of girls gushing over their prom dresses, their boyfriends, and the long hours it took to get ready. Soon, the evening would be taken over by drunk seniors, high juniors, freshmen losing their virginity, and sophomores who couldn't care less about anything.

For Cassie, it was her first Homecoming, and like many other freshmen, she had spent her entire savings to find the perfect dress. She chose a deep purple gown, flowing to the floor with intricate floral embroidery on the bodice and a stunning, voluminous skirt that resembled a ball gown. Her hair was perfectly curled, elegantly pinned into a flawless updo, and her makeup complemented her vibrant personality beautifully.

Her date for the night was her childhood best friend, Eddie Munson. He wore a thrifted tuxedo, his hair slicked back with gel, and he was drenched in Hopper's most expensive cologne. Katherine, Eddie's older sister, was making sure his suit was in order as they waited for Cassie to descend the stairs.

"You got the corsage?" Katherine asked, as Eddie held up a plastic box containing a delicate purple flower on a bracelet.

"Good. Now, Eddie, remember, don't drink the punch after nine. The seniors usually spike it when the teachers leave the gym," she advised, and Eddie nodded, silent but appreciative of the warning.

As they waited, Hopper and Joyce entered the room, accompanied by Warren and Dally, both of whom were dressed in expensive tuxedos, also waiting for their dates.

That's when Cassie, Anette, and Veronica appeared at the top of the stairs. The room fell silent, and all eyes were drawn to the girls, who smiled brightly as they descended. They made their way to their dates, each of them reaching for their corsages.

Eddie was momentarily speechless as he took in Cassie's beauty. Her dress fit her figure so perfectly, he felt like he might faint just staring at her. In that moment, he truly believed his best friend was nothing short of a goddess.

"You look... uh... beautiful, Cas," Eddie stammered, his words barely above a whisper. Cassie blushed, her lips curling into a soft giggle.

Once the pictures were taken, Eddie and Cassie headed to Eddie's van, a gift from his Aunt Theo for getting his license. They talked and laughed all the way to the dance, the excitement building with each passing minute.

As they pulled up to the high school gym, Cassie couldn't help but notice how different it looked. The usual sterile space had been transformed with towering balloons brushing the ceiling, glitter strewn everywhere, and an ambient glow of blue and purple lighting filling the air.

People began arriving in waves, the soft hum of music setting the tone for the night.

Cassie and her friends found their spot in the back of the gym, hands in the air, jumping and dancing freely. They could feel the stares, the judgmental glances of those around them, but they didn't care. The laughter and giggles of the group echoed through the gym, carefree and full of joy. And then, as the beat slowed down, a soft slow dance song filled the room, signaling a shift in the energy.

The girls stopped their wild dancing and exchanged excited glances as the familiar opening tones of Love of My Life by Queen filled the air.

"OMG, Warren, we need to dance!" Veronica squealed, grabbing his arm and bouncing up and down with enthusiasm.

Warren chuckled, his fingers intertwining with hers as he led her out onto the dance floor to slow dance. Dally, catching the energy, turned to Anette. She shrugged before grabbing his hand, and they too joined the others.

Soon, the dance floor was alive with couples, leaving Eddie and Cassie standing quietly in a corner, their shoulders brushing against each other, sending a shiver down Cassie's spine.

They stood there, watching the couples sway to the music, each wondering who would make the first move. Eddie sighed, his eyes meeting Cassie's with a small, sweet smile. Cassie returned it, her heart fluttering.

"Do you, uh... wanna dance?" Eddie asked, his voice soft and unsure.

Cassie raised an eyebrow in surprise, her face a mix of curiosity and shock. "I thought you didn't dance?" she teased.

Eddie shrugged, a playful glint in his eyes. "There's a first for everything."

Cassie grinned, reaching out her hand. Eddie took it, and together they made their way to the dance floor.

Cassie wrapped her arms around Eddie's neck, and he placed his hands gently on her waist. They swayed slowly to the rhythm of the music, the world around them fading into the background. Cassie hummed softly, resting her head on his chest, listening to the rapid beat of his heart.

In that moment, it felt as though they were the only two people in the room. The noise and crowd disappeared, leaving just the two of them lost in their dance, oblivious to everyone else.

It was peaceful—being in each other's arms felt so natural, like they had always belonged together. They both knew that people would question this moment later, but neither of them cared.

Cassie lifted her head to meet Eddie's gaze, staring into his brown doe eyes, which seemed to shine brighter than ever. She smiled, pulling herself a little closer, making Eddie's face flush deep red.

"I never want to let go," Eddie whispered softly in her ear, his voice filled with a tenderness that made Cassie's heart flutter.

"Then don't," she replied, her voice barely above a whisper. Eddie nodded, as if confirming that he never would.

As they continued to dance, Eddie's hands moved gently across Cassie's waist, not in any way that could be misconstrued, but enough to make her knees tremble.

"I'm glad you came with me," Cassie admitted, her voice filled with sincerity.

Eddie chuckled, his breath catching in his chest. "You know I'd come to these things just for you, Cassie. I'd be anywhere for you."

Cassie blushed at his words, feeling warmth spread through her chest. There was a brief silence before she nervously spoke up, her voice a little shaky. "Eddie, this is weird to ask, but... would you, uh, kiss me?"

They locked eyes, the weight of her request hanging between them. For a long moment, neither of them moved, the tension building in the air around them. Finally, Eddie leaned down, his lips brushing softly against hers.

Cassie could feel the heat of his breath against her skin, their noses grazing as their lips finally met, closing the gap between them. A spark of electricity shot through her stomach, and she melted into the kiss, their lips moving in synchronized rhythm.

Eddie's hands gently cupped the sides of her face, holding her head still as they kissed. The sensation of his touch, the softness of his lips, and the deep connection between them made Cassie's heart race even faster.

With his lips pressed against hers, Cassie could feel every detail of Eddie's lips—soft yet chapped, plump against her own. His breath carried the taste of the soda they had been serving, mingled with the faint hint of a breath mint his older sister had given him to calm his nerves—though, he felt, it hadn't done much to settle him.

To Eddie, Cassie's lips were like heaven. They were soft and smooth, not a trace of being chapped, and the floral scent of her perfume filled his senses, the roses almost tangible in the air. Her breath, sweet like Dr. Pepper, her favorite drink, added another layer to the intimate moment, making it feel like everything was falling into place.

Soon, Eddie pulled away, needing a moment to catch his breath. He pressed his forehead gently against Cassie's, their chests rising and falling as they locked eyes, sharing a quiet, intimate moment.

Then, once again, more urgently, Eddie leaned in and kissed her, his lips brushing against hers with a desperate tenderness. Their connection deepened as they both lost themselves in the kiss, unable to resist the pull between them. Cassie's breath caught as Eddie's hand moved to her lower back, his touch sending a wave of warmth through her.

For a brief moment, it felt as though they were the only ones in the room. But the awareness of their friends' gaze brought Eddie back to reality. He quickly pulled away, concerned for Cassie's comfort and reputation.

With a soft smile, he took her hand and led her outside the gym, the cool night air greeting them as he pressed her gently against the brick wall. They shared one more kiss, their connection growing stronger, free from the eyes of others.

He quickly raised her dress up before pulling away to look at her. "Are you okay with this cas?" He asked and Cassie nodded but Eddie shook his head. "Baby I need words" he pleaded, the word baby made Cassie want to faint and want to jump his draws right then and there.

"I'm okay, you can do it" she answered, her voice breathy as she did. Eddie slammed his lips on to hers as his right hand moved up to her underwear under her dress. He placed one finger inside her Virginia, pumping it in and out, making her moan against his lips.

Eddie enjoyed the sounds of his best friends moans as he continued to finger her against the wall, pulling away from her lips just to hear them. "Oh god cassie, your so hot" he spoke, laying his head on the crook of neck, sucking and kissing the tender skin.

"Eds I- I can't hold on for much longer" she stammered, and Eddie pulled away before kissing her lips and moving his lips down to the other side of her neck. "Cum for me Baby" he begged and Cassie did just that. When she finished, Eddie brought his finger to his mouth and licked the cum off, moaning as he did.

"Eds, I want you, I want to feel you" Cassie begged, but eddie didn't think him and Cassie could come back from this moment. What he felt was real and he didn't know if she would feel it too.

He knew the grounds they were crossing was bad, he knew their was a possibility that this could end their friendship and he couldn't and didn't want to imagine that.

Cassie knew this as well, but what the hell, what's the worse that could happen? She thought as she looked at him with needy eyes. God those eyes Eddie thought as she looked at him more.

Eddie looked around them before intertwining his fingers with her and walked her to his van. He opened the back down and closed it, grabbing a blanket and laying it on the floor.

Cassie began to reach for the zipper in the back of her dress, but Eddie stopped her. "No, no baby girl, just lay down" he calmly stated, and Cassie nodded. Cassie laid down on the ground and watched as Eddie climbed on top of her.

He connected his lips to hers, laying each hand beside her hand on the floor. Cassie's hand moved to his his belt buckle, undoing and pulling his pants down, along with his underwear.

Eddie pulled away from her lips and raised up,
Lifting her dress up before pulling down her lacy pink thong she had on that Cheryl bought her, he threw to the side and grabbed a box of condoms, putting the cold latex on his penis.

"Are you ready" he asked and she nodded, already gripping the soft material on the floor. He carefully placed himself inside of her, moving in and out slowly, making her moan even louder than before but this time, Eddie grunted and moaned with her as well.

"God Cassie, you feel so good" Eddie managed to gasp out, before placing his head between her neck, Cassie reached her hand to his shoulder, gripping onto it for dear life.

"Eds, p-please go faster" she moaned, Eddie nodded and picked the the pace, the now sounds of mounds and skin slapping against each other filled the van.

The two of them didn't care who heard, or who was gonna go snitch to the chaperones inside of the school. All they wanted to do was complete each other and they did.

The sounds Eddie made was ungodly to Cassie and she loved it. Eddie loved how Cassie's would grabbed his shoulder and hold onto it for support, he was practically bathing her her Loud moans.

Sooner then expected though, the prefect moment ended between them and they came together, Eddie crashing down beside her as their chest caved up and down, their hands intertwined, never wanting to let go...

December 10th, 1984
First person

Me and Billy had been going out for almost a
Month and Eddie loathed it, but I also loathed Madison as well. But Eddie stayed out of my relationship problems and was more interested in Dallas love life.

"You know, John was just a dick anyways dal" warren spoke, wrapping his arm around Veronica's shoulder. "Yeah I know but like I wanted to make out and he just blew me off, like what!" Dallas complained before scoffing to himself.

I rolled my eyes at the conversation before watching Billy come over to our table and sit down next to me. I smiled and grabbed his hand, he returned the smile before leaning towards me and kissing me on the lips.

"Hey princess, are you free tonight?" He asked sweetly but I knew I had to break his heart. "No, we have a new game today, apparently Eddie has some good storyline for us" I responded and he made an ohh movement to my answer.

"I already know everything by the way, he told me" Veronica answered as she bit down on a fry, making Cheryl groan in annoyance. "You only know because you were there when told warren" Cheryl responded and Veronica rolled her eyes at what she said.

"Okay and? She still knows what is happening which is lame by the way" Gwen remarked which made everyone beside Billy nod at what she said. "Wait, what game?" Billy inquired, which made anette drop her burger midway. "DND? It's a game we play" she explained and Billy nodded.

When school ended, Billy decided he wanted me to meet his family before my big dnd game tonight, so he walked me to his car and opened the front set door for me. I smiled and got in before seeing a girl around elevens age, skateboarding towards Billy's car.

"Where's lexs" she asked, grabbing her skateboard and putting in the back, she quickly noticed me and pushed her bike further to the other side of the window.

"She has cheer practice" Billy told her plainly, getting in the car and slamming the door shut. I turned to Billy and smiled, who gave a small smile back before starting the ignition and pulling out of the parking lot.

During the entire drive that's all Billy did was argue with his sister, I couldn't decide if I should tell
Billy to just drop me off at my house but the I knew he would tell me I was okay.

I crossed my arms over my chest and slid down the seat, trying to block off the sound of the two arguing. I felt as if I was stuck in a middle of the war zone but something told me to take max's defense despite me
Not knowing her.

"Billy, just leave your sister alone" I pleaded and he looked at me with shock in his eyes. "Leave her alone? She's the reason why we moved down here"
He angrily stated, and I felt as if maybe he was just blaming her.

"But she's just a kid. She's done nothing wrong" I argued but he just shook his head at me. "You know what, just stop the the car" I demanded, and he did. I then got out, slamming the car door behind me and began walking away from his vehicle.

After an hour contemplating what happened, I eventually showed up to the important hellfire club meeting. I knew this years game would be intense because Eddie liked torturing us.

I looked around for Veronica before spotting her with warren, her black cape on her back hugged her losely. "Omg v, the craziest shit happened" I ran up
To her, grabbing her attention. She turned to me with a eyebrow raised as I began to explain everything that happened.

"Dude, I can't believe he would do that" warren spoke, and I agreed with him. Billy was definitely gonna get dumped by me if he didn't have a good explanation.

Eddie then came out with the notebook in hand I knew that the game would start.

"Vecna is there, what do you do Princess Cassandra" Eddie spoke quietly, everyone around me waited for me to say the right thing. Even Eddie's brother leg was bouncing up and down.

I shook the dice in my hand and rolled it out. The number landing in twenty as I did. "Yes!" Warren excitedly exclaimed, as everyone around me cheered. "Beat that, dungeon master" I sarcastically told Eddie and he laughed grimly.

"Your princess Cassandra. Your title is only brim" he spoke before slamming a demogorgon on the table. "No!" We screamed in unison, before warren pushed me out of the way, taking the dice and rolling it.

"Eleven!" Warren screamed, shock written on his face. "Warren you fucker" Dallas yelled at him, anger laced in his voice. "It seems warren the wise has finally lost his reign" Eddie put in but warren scoffed.

"Group meeting" Veronica called, and everyone huddled together. "Look, In order to get through the demogorgon, we need Cassie" Veronica spoke honestly and everyone nodded. "What if it doesn't work?" Kimberly asked and I looked over at Cheryl who was smirking.

"We send in the big guns" Gwen spoke making Veronica laugh. We pulled away and walked over to the table, I grabbed the dice and began to shook it in my head.

When I threw it down, it felt like it was slow motion. Everyone watched in fear before a two was displayed. "It looks like Cassandra the princess of daysland officially as defeated vecna and his army" everyone cheered at his words while backed up into the wall with a smirk.

By the time I got home, I had already forgotten about Billy Hargrove, until I heard the phone rang. I ran up to it and answered it, taking the loops between my fingers.

"Hey Cassie, I wanted to apologize for the way I acted today, I would like to make it up to you please" he begged on the other end but I knew this could be a trick.

"Look what you did was not okay. Those boys did nothing to you" I responded and he sighed on the other end. "I know and I'm sorry sweetheart,
Just please let me make it up to you" he pleaded and I sighed. "Okay, fine" replied with a smile.

I knew that giving him another chance was gonna cause more problems. I knew this because as I laid in bed, I felt something in my chest.

I raised up, and looked around the room and saw little white snowflakes, curious, I threw the blanket off me and walked toward the window. What I saw made my heart beat fast out of my chest, fear taking over me.

I saw the mind flayer out in the shadowy distance, I knew this only meant one thing, it was back and it wanted either me, will or el, and I wasn't gonna let it win....
