six and a half months later

ROB JETTEN

Jesse was taking me to the restaurant today. It was our sixth anniversary already. Oh, how the time flies!

Six months ago, we were on a vacation together when he asked me officially to be boyfriends. It was so romantic and cute! Since it was a private beach, we had it to ourselves so he bought out a table and set everything out while I was getting groceries.

When I had come back, he handed me a blindfold and went to put groceries away while I tied it. You can guess what happened after he led me to the beach and after he asked me to be his boyfriend.

Every month, he gave me flowers on this date and I gave him chocolate. It had become a tradition. Our relationship wasn't perfect, we had some fights and still do fight over the small stuff.

Anyways, we agreed to meet outside the restaurant since he had to go to give Rutte some papers. I came on time and expected I'd have to wait for him but he was already there.

"Hey."

"Hey," he greeted back and pulled me in for a kiss. "Let's go, we wouldn't want to be late, they'll give our reservation to someone else," he chuckled. I gave him a smile in return.

He had such a great laugh.

And he seemed nervous. I wonder what's that about.

"Hi, reservation for Klaver."

"Oh, good evening Mr Klaver. Mr Jetten. Right this way, your waitress will be with you in a minute, we hope you'll enjoy your stay," she talked while leading us to our table.

"Thank you,"  we both told as we sat down. She nodded and left.

"What will you have?"

"I'm thinking one of their specialities for the main meal and them a chocolate cake or mousse for dessert. You?"

"Same. And wine with it."

"Make it red," I added.

The waitress soon came and we gave her our orders. The night was spent with laughter, jocks, fabulous food and wine. It was when we were finished Jesse started to act nervous again.

"Are you okay?" I had to ask now.

"No. Yes. I've been meaning to ask you something and I'm anxious about it."

"You know you can tell me anything, right?"

"Yes. Okay, here it goes. Robs, I know you for over 8 months. Every day we spend together is like a blessing. We didn't have a traumatic path in our relationship — if you don't count the plane or media and people hating on us. Our story was more of a fluffy or something," we both laughed. I had tears gathering and threatening to spill. Jesse knelt on one knee and that's when they started to fall. "You're the one for me. I hope I'm the one for you and that you'll say 'yes'." By now the people in the restaurant were watching us. Jesse opened the velvet box he grabbed out of his pocket. Inside was a beautiful diamond ring. "Rob Jetten, will you do me the honour of being my husband?"

"Yes, you silly curly! Thousands of yes!"I yelled and knelt in front of him, hugging him. The people clapped and someone turned lively music on. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw someone leave with a disgusted facial expression but I didn't let it bother me.

JESSE KLAVER

After planning for 4 months we finally arranged all the details and invited our friends and family. The wedding was held at the same beach we officially became a couple.

Simple but perfect. Like we wanted.

"Do you, Jesse Feras Klaver, take Rob Arnoldus Adrianus Jetten to be your husband?"

"I do."

"Do you, Rob Arnoldus Adrianus Jetten, take Jesse Feras Klaver to be your husband?"

"I do."

"Then by the power invested in me, I pronounce you husband and husband. You may kiss your groom."

We leaned in at the same time and kissed. Everyone clapped and yelled.

"Go daddy!" My kids screamed. We chuckled in the kiss and separated.

"Hello, husband."

"Hi, husband."

"Now we need to survive the reception party and we could consume our marriage."

"Jesse!" Obviously, my name was his new favourite word.
