Bless him, Harry. Him and his peaceful reactions. Really, it should've been him abashed. But no, it was her.

The tables had turned.

"How dare she put me in that room. She knows me! And to think she'd want me to teach him of all people. Him and his ridiculous white face and stupid , stupid judgment. And to make it worse, all of them! Every sole slytherin." She rambled on, pacing to and forth the room.

"They looked at me as if I was poison. "

Her hair was a mess, more frizzy than usual. It seemed to amplify with her ongoing anger.

Hermione met Harry's concerned eyes. She spat, bitter. "I mean, it's not like their behavior was inevitable."

"After all, they are Death Eaters."

"Hermione-"

Her hair fluffed up even more. Her cheeks grew a furious red, and she whiplashed around. "And you have objections?"

Harry sighed, rubbing his temples. "Wasn't there a time when you were defending them. He sucked in a breath. "Malfoy?"

"That was under certain circumstances! I didn't know what he was doing. His own aunt she, she-"

Her voice faltered, as her eyes grew far away. Haunted.

She could vaguely feel Harry's hand coming around her back, and she buried her head into his shoulder. Tears flowed out of her eyes, making a damp spot on his shirt. She sniffled as he hugged her tighter. She could feel his warmth warming her cold, ruined self. On the inside and out.

She lifted her head slightly, and  resed her eyes on her scar. Mudblood. She traced the letters, seeming lost.

" I can't get over it Harry. I can never forgive it."

Harry gave a sad smile. "I wouldn't expect you to."
