The sound of dual heavy footsteps came closer and closer towards the kitchen as Ciro stood by the stove, tiredly, frying up a few pieces of bacon that she could add onto her little brother's- kid's plates.
"Y'all better not be running," she quickly calls out and the heavy footsteps became almost non-existent causing her to snort.
Of course they were running.
She had hoped that them being on track team meant less running in the halls of the apartment but she was proven to be wrong on their first day of track practice which was saddening.
Maybe I feed em too much, she thinks as her twins walked in with smiles on their faces.
"Morning, momma." The boy said at the same time, walking around the counter, taking turns to kiss her cheek before the two sat down at the table.
Did they know that she wasn't actually their biological mother? Yes, they knew that. They knew where their biological parents were and who they were too but Ciro's the only mom that they have ever known.
Neither boys cared much for their birth giver and sperm donor.
Truly? They hated them. Not because of the way they were raised as the two got to be raised by the most amazing person in the universe.
No, they hated them because of how fast Ciro had to grow up.
She's been taking care of them since the two were born.
They were smart for their ages and she's the person to thank for that. They hated that she had lost her childhood and the worse part is that she did before they'd even come along.
"Morning, y'all bag packed?" Ciro asked them softly with a soft smile gracing her face.
That was another thing, she was always smiling to them, even when they can see how tired she is. The boys sometimes felt a pang of guilt for being born.
If they weren't, Ciro wouldn't have taken on more work and stress when she was already overworked.
They'd once voiced their thoughts to the older teen who was very quick to shut it down. Her heart ached painfully at the fact that they felt guilty when they had no reason to do so. She made it clear to them that they were actually the best things/people in her life.
Letting them know that she was glad to have them in her life and if she had to do all the things she did before, again, just to have them, then she would.
She would have had no one. She would have been alone, she wouldn't have not a thing to fight for. And she made sure to tell them that, which caused them to cry in her arms and then ended up staying in her bed and clinging to her for almost that entire weekend.
And she didn't complain once.
"We're packed, momma." Jaylen says as his twin nodded in agreement. Both had grins on their lips as Ciro used to be the one to pack their bags for them. But they wanted to help her out, even if it's not as much as they want too right now.
They've seen her pack both of their bags so much, they knew to do it themsleves. They learned how to clean their room on their own, to wash dishes, started doing their best to help out with cleaning too and doing the laundry.
Doing whatever they can do and lately they've been asking her to teach them how to cook.
She's not blind and could tell what they were doing and she was utterly proud and thankful but she didn't want them to take on too much.
They are kids afterall and it's her job to take care of them. Though she is infact planning to teach them how to cook.
It's a good thing to know how to do.
Can't have her boys worthless as hell in the kitchen. And their future partners will thank her, if they learn correctly of course.
"Good," she tells them before she gave them their breakfast and handed them cups with orange and apple juice.
"Thank you," the males say at the same time, once again before glances at each other with squinted eyes before they let out hums causing the older girl to laugh softly. They tended to speak at the same time and say the exact same thing alot as well, though they were used to it, they'd still glance at each other with squinted eyes.
Jayden has the orange while Jaylen has the apple, meanwhile Ciro ate her own breakfast with cranberry juice. "You're welcome." She sighs out.
She needed to badly do something with her hair, though she isn't sure what or when she's even get to do it. She'll have to see what the weekend will look like for her.
Atleast she was able to give twins twists yesterday. She'll probably just keep her hair out, too tired to do anything else to it anytime soon.
Hopefully the new school will be good for all of us, she thinks as she takes a bite of her french toast.
Not only did she start a new school, her children did as well, wanting to always have both of their school within walking distance and whom was she to tell them no?
The school was alot like the one she'd be going too, only for younger kids and her kids got in on an scholarship just like she did.
And she couldn't be anymore proud of them.
Their school was last than a five minute walk to her own. And both of the schools are less than twenty minutes away from their home.
Not that they'd walk, they have a car for a reason.
From the day she's been working, she's been saving up which is why they live as they do now. She wanted nothing more than to give them the best life possible. And she now, she has with how good the apartment.
It was more fancy, bigger and had three rooms, though the twin still slept in the same room not wanting to seperate just yet, not that Ciro minded. They are only 12 afterall, the best of friends. Why the hell would she want to seperate them??
Though she brought the apartment and most of the things herself since she very subbornly independent, her boss would drop off groceries, snacks and had also helped her with any renovations she'd needed to do.
He taught her alot. How to build a table, how to fix a frigde, how to fix a any kind of leaky faucet, to sand down things and many more useful skills that she would not need to call an handyman for.
The older man became a father figure to her and grandfather to the twins.
He's been with them since the start and never left them, not once. Not even the time his now ex wife complained about them or would find some lie to say about Ciro and her work.
It was weird, very much and so and the man was more weirded out by his wife who he realized was jealous?
Jealous? Of what? He spent time with her as he always did so it's not like he had neglected her at all. He found how she was jealous of a child odd.
It made him uncomfortable, because he didn't understand.
All he was doing was helping Ciro who he saw as daughter even then. He just wanted to show her that not all adults are bad. That some will help her, some will see how hard she's working to keep her family together.
His wife at the time only grew angier and angier, leading him to divorce her umable to handle the stress. He soon found out why she was jealous and was utterly disgusted. What made her think such things?
Moving on, Mr. Donatella checked on them from time to time, he even told them about a date he had.
He was excited for it and the others are excited with and for him him as he has not went out since his divorce.
"Make sure you behave, if a kid hit you, you beat them the fuck up and teach em to keep their hands to themselves." Ciro says to her children as she walked them into their new school, her hands holding their own as a few students looked their way with wide eyes.
Was it because they heard what she said to Jaylen and Jayden?
If so, good.
The two boys grinned at her words since they were always ready to throw hands but for a reason, of course. "Yes ma'am," they said in sync.
Normally some kids wouldn't want their parent to walk them to class or anything but these twins weren't them.
They've been here over summer break that didn't end not too long ago and the two knew where all their classes were. And they made sure that Ciro knew as well.
Just incase.
And so she can walk them to their first class of the day.
They were utterly spoiled and had been since they were born. Not spoiled by the finer things in life but with affection and love. They happen to like being spoiled this way more.
The games, the nice apartment and good clothes and such were great but all the hugs, forehead and cheek kisses and the cuddles were alot better.
In their opinions, they guessed.
Soon they reached their first class of the day. "This school bougie as hell," Jayden says causing his mother to bite back an laugh. "Not like y'all didn't have a tour of it before, so y'all know y'all getting into," she states causing the boy to huff as his twin snorted.
"My school is worse though," Ciro sighed out. The school had some serious as hell renovations done to it and looked almost like an entirely different school.
Now she wasn't broke and she also has an good amount of money- due to her saving skills but these schools made her feel broke just by looking at them. Why can't things just stay as they were?
She guessed that 'if it's not broke, don't fix it' didn't exist anymore.
"Oh you poor thing," Jaylen says to her in genuine empathy. "Just burn it down," Jayden says bluntly and Ciro mentally facepalmed. "No," she mutters before she kissed their foreheads gently.
"I love you both," she cooed out at the boys as they hugged her. "We love you too, momma." They replied as she hugs them back.
Ciro lets out an low irritated sigh as she walked into Hollywood Arts, everyone was glancing her way or just openingly staring at her.
Was it because she's new or because her outfit alot different that theirs?
For their sake, it better be because she's new because unless she's dressed in an way that's considered inappropriate, her outfit is fine.
Or is it because she's black? There are a few black people here but like said, just a few.
[Her outfit, shoes, nails and hair. She's wearing two necklaces and a few sliver rings.]
Anyway, she thinks as she turned down a hallway, only to bump into someone and stumbles back in surprise before she felt hands on her waist, steadying her.
The dark skinned girl lets out a sigh of relief, these floors weren't made for any ass falling as they looked hard as fuck.
If she had fell, she was going home and coming back probably next week.
She looked up at the person who saved her ass and gives them a small smile as she quickly steps back, wanting to put some space between them.
"I'm so sorry about that and thank you," she tells them softly causing them to just wave it off as they eyed her. "Oh, it's fine and you're welcome." He says as he runs a hand through his hair, his other hand being shoved into his pocket.
Ciro was nearly 5'9 and this male seems to be atleast 6'1 or 6'2. They have brown eyes, dark brown hair and russet in an way. Was it from the sun or is that's just his skin colour? Ciro didn't know. "Cool," she mutters as she walks off to the side to walk past him.
She didn't see reason to speak to him as she already said what she needed. And she didn't need help to find her class as well, she knew where it is.
"Hey wait!" The male says as he steps in her way, causing her to halt and look up at him blankly. "Yes?" She asks him and the male seems taken aback by her tone, not that she cared.
He's cute, she guesses but not her type.
Does she even know what her type is?? Probably not but she was sure that it's not him.
"You're new right?" He asks her and she gives him a nod as she just stare at him blankly. What was he getting at? "Nice, I'm Beck." He says. "Ciro." She says back. "Can I go now?" She asks him, not really in the mood to chat with him.
She wanted to sit in her class and snack on this pop tart in her pocket before the class started.
He had atleast twenty more seconds of her time before she just walks off. So he better use it wisely.
"Pretty name," he says with a charming smile on his lips and she nods her head as she knew it's a pretty name. It's why she kept it. "Want to hang out? We can hang out after school, if that's okay." He says and it was obvious that his ass was flirting with the way he was eying her figure.
Lord, is this why I switched schools? She thinks as she makes a face that showed that she was infact not interested.
She's never been the dating type, never had actually liked someone neither. And he was just an walking ick. Atleast to her and she's not entirely sure why yet.
"No, I'm good." She says as she walks off which surprised the male who blinks in surprise and watches her leave.
The only time he's ever turned down is if Jade is nearby. Plus this was just a bit of harmless flirting. But it's been awhile he has met someone that wasn't interested in him.
Meanwhile Ciro took her seat, which is right next to the door in order for her to leave quickly. She took her pop tart out of her pocket and sighs happily, opening it as a smile curved onto her lips.
As she munched on her pop tart a dark skinned male walked into the classroom with a smile on his lips, headphones on his head. His brown eyes soon fell onto the girl that sat next to the door and his eyes widen as his breath hitched.
His steps flattered as her took in the girl before him, his heart skipping a beat as his dark cheeks heated up. He knew that she was new, had to be as he would have remembered her if she went her before. His grip on his bag strap tightens as he took another step which was an mistake as he somehow tripped over his feet and faceplants.
Right infront of her seat, laid out like he was a starfish. Luckily she was the only one in the class, not even the teacher is there but he hated the fact that he fell infront of her.
I'm dead, he thinks to himself way too embarrassed to get back up.
It's the first day of school and he trips and falls onto his face because he saw a pretty girl. And this had to happen right infront of her too.
Ciro blinks in surprise and looks over her desk with furrowed brows eying the limp body that's before her and pursed her lips, brushing the crumbs of her pop tart from her face.
Damn, he died? She thinks when seeing that the person doesn't move to get up. She was starting to think that this damn school was a bad idea.
"Yo, you dead?" Ciro questions and see's the figure stiffen, barely but she saw it. "Yeah," it was muffled but she heard it. "Okay, cool dude." she replies back with a shrug.
If he's dead then he's dead.
She then leans back into her seat and contiunes on her poptart, trying to not smile.
