CASSIDY JUMPED AS POLLY WALKED INTO THE ROOM, "Polly?" she asked, lifting her white dress from the floor. "Cassidy i needed to get to you before you went through with this."
"What are you talking about?"
"I only noticed last week when you carried out the murder of Luca Changretta but i never got the chance to say anything." She said before grabbing Cassidy's breast, making her gasp. "Polly." She scolded.
"Cassidy, tell me. When did you last have sex?"
"Polly that's such a foul question."
"Cassidy."
"Fine, like four weeks ago."
"Cassidy, when did you last bleed?"
The cogs turned in her head and her eyes widened. "Over a month a go."
"Cassidy, you're pregnant. And i'm assuming it's my sons."
"No that can't be possible, my doctor told me it was impossible for me to carry a child for this long-"
"Did he tell you that before or after he figured out you were unmarried."
"After."
"Exactly. Cassidy, love, you're pregnant. But you can make that Cavalry officer believe it's his, have sex with him as soon as possible, and he'll have no choice but to believe you. Cassidy you will have that child and you'll raise it as if it's Anthony's."
"Polly i can't do that. Not if i know it's Micheal's."
"Cassidy you have no other choice."
Her breath was quick. "Now come on, you're to be married in a few minutes. The remains of my own family have came in support, we thought it was only right considering you don't want to marry this man anyway."
She nodded quickly and walked with her down to the other side of the church.
Anthony, the cavalry officer she was to marry. He was fairly decent looking, a nice man. But he wasn't Micheal. He'd never be Micheal.
Isiah stood at the door, smiling proudly and holding out his arm. "You ready?" He asked. She shrugged, "i'm not sure"
"Well, brace yourself," he laughed as the music began. Cassidy held his arm as the music began. She nervously walked together down the isle. Cavalry officers scattered everywhere, the Shelby's sat at the end.
After what felt like hours, they reached the end and Isiah gave her a reassuring smile, walking off to the side.
Anthony admired her features as he lifted the veil from her face.
"Dearly beloved," the priest began. "Today we are here to join, in holy matrimony, Sir Anthony James and Cassidy Jane Gold." he said. "Do you, Sir Anthony James promise to love and to hold Cassidy Jane Gold until death do you apart."
"I do," Anthony said, holding her hands.
She forced a smile onto her lips.
"Do you, Cassidy Jane Gold, swear to cherish and obey Sir Anthony James till death do you apart?"
She swallowed hard. "I do."
"You may now kiss the bride."
Anthony leaned in and kissed her. All she could think about was Micheal. She closed her eyes, forcing herself to kiss him back as cheers came from everyone else.
He pulled back, nodding at her.
-
2 years later
"Hello you," Anthony grinned, picking up his two year old daughter, Adeline. Cassidy watched from the table, smiling.
Anthony gently held the small girl, pushing her blonde hair away from her face,
Cassidy had forced herself to move on and get over Micheal. She forced herself to begin 'feeling something' for Anthony. Which in the end would all be false. But he was a nice man. Had good money. Treated her well.
"You coming for dinner?" Anthony questioned, still holding the small girl. "Yeah i'll be there in a minute," she mumbled, waiting for the pair to leave.
And as the door closed, she reached for the phone, listening as it rang out.
"Hello?" A female answered. "Hello?" she repeated. "Who is it?" Michael's voice asked, muffled. "I'm not sure, English lines must be bad." The American girl laughed slightly. Then the line went dead and she placed the phone down carefully. Her heart ached slightly, knowing he'd moved on. Despite she'd moved on too, it still hurt.
-
Cassidy sat in her office, signing papers and staring at the phone as it rang. She licked her bottom lip, hesitating before picking it up. "Hello? Cassie?" Micheal. "Cassie are you there?"
"Yes, Micheal. I'm here."
"I think you er..called the other night." He said nervously.
"I did," she said, placing the phone down.
"Are you okay?"
"I was calling to check up, that's all." She lied. She didn't know why she'd called. "I've been thinking of you Cass." He said quietly.
"Micheal it's been two years."
"And still I think about you."
"That's romantic." She said in a mocking tone. "I'm married." she told him.
"Yes, to Anthony James. I heard. Polly also told me you had a baby. That's amazing news, i'm happy for you, i am." He hummed, careful incase his girlfriend walked in.
"Yeah..yeah i suppose it is. She's called Adeline."
"Adeline.." he repeated. "And it's James' yes?"
Cassidy stayed quiet. "Yeah, she's James' girl."
"Okay then. I hope you're okay, Cass. I really do. And again, i'm sorry."
"For what?" Cassidy asked as her mouth went dry with regret. "Everything" Micheal spoke. "Listen, i've got to go, but if you ever need me, call. I'll answer. Every time, i'll answer."
She sighed, placing the phone down. She couldn't bare it. Cassidy missed him more than anything.
