2. Wedding's

-

CASSIDY WINCED AS SHE CLOSED THE DOOR. She let out a breath of relief as her personal maid appeared at the bottom of the stairs. "Your grace," she nodded her head, "your dress is hanging in your bed chamber."

"Thank you," Cassidy smiled, quickly finding her way to her bedroom the get ready.

The dress was a pale pink colour with jewels lining the top of it.

She carefully stepped inside it, allowing her maid to button up the back. "If you don't mind me asking, where were you last night?" the woman, Rose, asked.

Cassidy thought for a moment. "I was at a friends," She lied, watching as Rose pinned up Cassidy's long hair.

"A friend?" The woman raised an eyebrow.

"Yes, Rose. A friend. What are you trying to suggest?" Cassidy questioned, her heart pounding.

"No, nothing. I'm suggesting nothing."

-

"Do i have to remind you how to act tonight?" Cassidy's father asked her as they sat in the stands opposite the Shelby family. Cassidy stopped herself from rolling her eyes and looked at him. "No, father, i'm perfectly capable of acting the way i'm supposed to."

"Very well then." He cleared his throat.

Cassidy turned her head, locking eyes with Micheal who hung Ada Thorne's child over the side. He quickly smiled and placed the boy back in his seat as the music began.

She straightened her back and watched as Grace walked down the isle with her father wearing a purple dress. She frowned and looked at Micheal once more who bit back his grin.

Grace's father let go of her arm and went off to the side as she stood in front of Tommy.

Tommy carefully removed the veil from Grace's face and Cassidy had to admit Grace did look gorgeous. The pair turned to Jeremiah.

"Dearly beloved," he began, "we are gathered here today to join together in holy matrimony, Thomas Micheal Shelby and Grace Helen Burgess"

"Do you, Thomas Micheal Shelby take Grace Helen Burgess to be your lawful wedded wife?" he asked. "I do" Tommy said.

"Do you, Grace Helen Burgess, solemnly swear to love, honour and obey till death do you apart"

Grace nodded slightly. "I do"

"I now pronounce you husband and wife" Jeremiah finished.

They turned to each other, leaning in. "Go on Tom" John shouted. Claps and cheers erupted from the Shelby side of the hall.

Cassidy smiled happily as everyone started leaving the hall. "Come on Cassidy," Joseph, her father scolded, pushing her forward slightly.

She watched from the side as they Shelby family gathered together.

"Go on, take the photograph" Arthur shouted.

-

Cassidy and Micheal walked alongside each other as everyone approached Tommy's large house. "Look at his fucking face," Micheal whispered, referring to the Cavalry Officer in front of them.

She snorted and covered her mouth, wide eyed. Micheal's raised his eyebrows, "Oh my god, Cass, what was that," he joked, taken back by the strange noise that left her mouth.

"That is completely your fault Micheal," she blamed, pushing him away as they walked inside the house.

"Oh look, there's Isiah." She grinned, pulling him along to the boy who stood smoking a cigarette. Micheal sucked in a breath, licking his bottom lip.

"Isiah," Cassidy called out.

Isiah turned his head, "Ello, Cass." He smiled widely, pulling her into a hug, "i've got something for you," he whispered, pulling a small bottle of cocaine out of his pocket and placing it in her hand.

Cassidy looked at Micheal who looked at her disapprovingly. "Oh come on, have some fun," Cassidy sighed, moving away from the boy.

She discretely placed the bottle down the front of her dress and clocked her father and mother stood talking to people. "I'll find you later," she tapped Michael's arm, disappearing.

-

"What do you call an animal with a prick halfway up its back" He asked the man across from him. Esme scoffed.

Cassidy squinted, waiting for him to finish the joke.

"A cavalry horse" John finished, laughing loudly.

"He got it, he gets it." he pointed.

"Fuck it, fuck it" Arthur whispered, placing the paper that contained his speech in his pocket. "Where the bloody hell are they"

"You're best man, Arthur, go find them" Linda told him.

-

"Hold on wait a second" Lizzie followed after Micheal. "So you're saying i'm not allowed a man.."

"It's about your choice of man" he cut her off. "I'm not allowed a man on my arm?" she asked. Arthur stopped, hearing their arguing and going to find the two.

"Thomas says there are rules, Lizzie"

"Fucking parish bastard" she scoffed, crossing her arms. "Micheal, speeches, come on" Arthur appeared before them, stopping in his tracks. "Arthur. You know why he didn't come, don't you" Lizzie stopped him.

He grabbed a bottle of wine from a passing maid, examining it. "Why who didn't come?"

"My bloody man" she hissed. "Oh you mean the wop?" he asked, opening the bottle. Micheal stepped forward, standing in front of the mirror.

"I just heard there was a fire at his restaurant midnight last night" she told him. "And a smashed back window and a smell of petrol"

Lizzie's voice began shaking.

"Lizzie, we tried to talk some sense into you," Micheal sighed. "We did checks on him, he's had five different names in the last six years, and he's got connections with the Naples boys"

"Come on, Micheal" Arthur said. "What do you know about love" Lizzie gritted through her teeth, staring at the boy. "About when lightning strikes?"

"So, it was lightning, hm? Not petrol" Arthur mocked.

"I thought you were off the whiskey, Arthur" Micheal said as they began walking away. "Yeah i am, having a couple now and again to remind myself why i don't drink it"

"You set fire to his restaurant to stop him coming, you have no right to chose who i step out with in my own time" Lizzie shouted after them.

The boys stopped, turning back to them, Micheal walking to her.

"Lizzie, you now have an important position in this company. You got the order same as us" he said "You can do it"

Lizzie looked down.

"Until further notice, no fraternising with the foreigners" Arthur breathed, turning away alongside his cousin.

"Yeah well you can tell Tommy from me all the girls in the office think he's losing his fucking mind"

All they could hear was the sound of Lizzie's heels as she walked the other way.

-

"To the bride" Tommy began, raising his glass. Everybody stood, repeating his words. "And now according to tradition, my best man will say a few words"

Everyone returned to their seats.

"Go on! Here he goes! Go on, Arthur" John shouted. "Right um..i'm not one for speeches" he said nervously. "Sing then" John shouted.

"I will later, John"

"But, uh, I do..i do have some words written down here" he nodded, pulling the paper from his coat. "This doesn't include everything i want to say"

"Arthur just, just read what we wrote down, eh" Tom interrupted.

"First a few words from..from the heart. This man here, my brother Tommy, helped me survive through some of the worst times" He stuttered. Tommy cleared his throat loudly, stopping him, earning a hard glare from his younger sister.

"It's a wedding, Arthur, tell a joke" Micheal said. "Yeah tell a joke" John nodded.

"What i'm trying to say is that, my brother and the love of a good woman, pulled me through that time. Now tommy also has the love of a good woman, her names Grace. Like the Grace of the good Lord"

"And even though, the circumstances of their union was tragic.."

Tommy slammed a hand on the table, standing. "All right. Let's uh, Arthur. Let's raise a toast eh? To uh, to love to peace to marriage"
