SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 14
I was wrong in thinking I moved on from the past. Today's experience showed me why.
I was at Jaden's house playing some few games with him. At first, it was really nice when we played chess . Until I kept losing without winning any game.
Round one, round two, round three . Until round five I won no game. I feel like chess is the best game to play with a quiet person but when you keep losing like I was , it starts to get really annoying.
I personally suggested for a new game when I lost the filth time . So Jaden went upstairs to get a new one and I never expected him to get that game.
He brought monopoly .
Ever since my past experience, I hated monopoly more than anything.
I looked at the board game he brought. I Felt a bit distressed as the memories started to flood my head. I remembered everything well.
It felt like a video tape was being played in my head. The scene of both my parents being killed. The scene of me being raped---it played over and over as I stared at that board game.
Of course tears fell from my eyes. I tried my best to hide by quickly turning away from his sight while running away to the bathroom.
I sat in the bathroom for a long time crying all the memories out. The images replayed in my mind forcing more and more tears.
Honestly, I never expected a board game to carry that much memories. I stayed in there for quite a long time, until I heard Mrs. Parks knock at the door.
"Terra, are you alright?" She called out.
I looked at my reflection in the mirror. My eyes were extremely swollen. I looked horrible . If I came out , she would know I was crying.
She kept knocking until I eventually gave up and opened the door. Her facade made me feel worse . She seemed really sad to see me in that state.
I didn't even get to say anything before I received a big hug. It reminded me of all the times my mom would hug me when I was hurt. Her hugs would always stop my tears from coming out. I hadn't received any of those in such a long time. It felt really good to be in her embrace.
She never asked me anything . I stayed in her embrace until I started to feel better. After several minutes, I looked at her and asked her if I could go back home.
Her response shocked me.
"Sure my daughter . But whenever you need someone to talk to, I will be here for you."
The fact that she called me her daughter brought a smile to my face. That term was last used by my mom before she died. It made me feel at peace.
I hugged her one last time and then Jaden drove me home. Honestly, the way none of them where questioning me made me feel better because I don't think I was ready to explain myself.
When I arrived at home, Jaden also surprised me. He gave me a hug. It felt really good but I felt a really weird feeling. More like that feeling you get every time you're about to get your exam results . Don't know what that was about though, but I don't really care.
After that weird hug ,I thanked him then immediately walked into the house.
Saying that I moved on from the past would be untruthful, because clearly I did not .
Who cries at the sight of a board game? Wow, I may have overreacted . Now they probably think of me as some sort of weirdo.
I can't blame them if they do . I am a weirdo after all.
