A year had passed since Shubman and Ashwini had tied the knot in a beautiful ceremony surrounded by close friends and family.
The wedding, which had taken months of planning, had been everything they had dreamed of and more.
It had been a joyous occasion that celebrated not just their love but the union of their little family—Manvi, Ashwini, and Shubman.
Now, a year later, they were sitting in their cozy living room on a quiet Sunday afternoon. Manvi was curled up on the couch, reading one of her favourite books, while Ashwini and Shubman were on the balcony, enjoying the cool breeze and a cup of coffee.
"Remember when we thought this day would never come?" Ashwini asked, smiling at her husband, her eyes sparkling with happiness.
"Feels like it's been a lifetime," Shubman replied, his voice full of affection. "But I wouldn't change a single moment."
Ashwini nodded, resting her head against his shoulder. "We've been through so much, haven't we? The wedding, the new life together..."
"And we're still just getting started," Shubman added with a grin, his hand reaching out to hold hers. "We've got so much more to look forward to."
They sat in comfortable silence, sipping their coffee as the sun began to dip lower in the sky. It had been a whirlwind of a year, but it had been the happiest of their lives.
Their bond had only grown stronger with each passing day.
Ashwini glanced over at Manvi, who was now stretched out on the couch with a drawing pad, scribbling pictures of flowers and rainbows.
Her heart swelled with love as she watched the little girl she now thought of as her own.
"I still can't believe how quickly she's growing up," Ashwini mused.
Shubman chuckled, his eyes following Ashwini's gaze. "She's growing up way too fast. I swear she's already wiser than both of us put together."
"I hope she's inherited your sense of humour," Ashwini said with a teasing smile.
"Hey, I'm serious," Shubman replied with mock offence. "She's got the best qualities of both of us."
"True," Ashwini agreed, her eyes softening. "And she's going to be an incredible person when she's older."
Manvi glanced up at them and grinned. "I'm going to be an astronaut and a doctor!" she announced, her eyes full of excitement.
"An astronaut and a doctor?" Shubman asked, raising an eyebrow. "You sure you're not going to be the president while you're at it?"
Manvi giggled. "Maybe! But I'll need to finish school first. I'm going to be super smart."
Ashwini laughed, her heart full of pride for the little girl. "I have no doubt about that."
As they continued talking and laughing, Shubman leaned in to kiss Ashwini on the cheek, his lips lingering for a moment longer than usual.
"I'm glad we're doing this together. You, me, and Manvi. This... this is everything I ever wanted."
"Me too," Ashwini whispered, her fingers brushing against his. "We make a great team."
Manvi suddenly jumped up from the couch, running over to them with a huge grin on her face. "I have an idea! Let's go to the beach this weekend! We can make sandcastles and play in the water!"
Shubman and Ashwini exchanged a look, both of them smiling. "Sounds like a perfect plan," Ashwini said, ruffling Manvi's hair.
"I'll start packing now!" Manvi declared, already dashing off toward her room.
As Shubman and Ashwini watched her run off, their hearts swelled with a quiet happiness.
The little moments like these—the laughter, the plans, the shared joy—made everything worth it. They had built something beautiful together, a family rooted in love, trust, and laughter.
"I'm so lucky," Shubman whispered, his voice full of emotion.
Ashwini smiled softly, her hand brushing against his. "We both are."
