weeks continued to pass and with them april needs to find her dad grew , she kept on coming with you on some easy patrol nights or she would came running in the lair with news she would find stalking kraangs.

you (the boys) would try and tell her to be more cautious, but for obvious reason she wouldn't listen, sometimes even getting herself on bad situations.

leo ordered you to follow her every time and she knew that, making reckless decisions to make you work harder.

every time you came back from the stalking of the girl you were in horrible conditions and with a bad attitude, so none of the boys ever tried to talk to you before you showered.

you understood why leo gave you the job, being the only one who could go out in the day, but still you couldn't help but think it wasn't fair.

you and her hated each other guts more everyday and the fact that she kept making you came back to the lair in that state made you hate her even more.

the boys obviously didn't know that it was her fault and you didn't even try to explain it to them since you saw the way they cared about the redhead.

she was a human, a real human that haden't lived like a rat (sorry splinter) her whole life; and you had started to think that she cared about them too, even if you still had some doubts about it.

you didn't want to ruin everything just cause of some childish manners and you kept going with your life pretending to not care about it.

but when your first day of calm arrived, knowing that the girl wouldn't drag you anywhere, you relaxed on the sofa as long as you could only getting up to do your daily training.

you didn't even listened to donnie explaining his plan to hangout with april, as you had already saw it at least twenty times.

but raphael did, his brother explained how everything had to be perfect and he had to admit it felt kinda romantic, if you didn't thought about the 'looking like a creep' part.

"try this 'april, do you want to go out with me?'" leo tried to gave him an advice but it was pointless, as donnie was firm to believe his idea.

"yeah, raph does it all the time with [name]!" commented mickey with a goofy grin.

raph stopped everything for a second before regaining his control over his body to gave his brother a slap behind his head.

"keep your voice down, she's right there; and i ask her 'as a friend'" tried to explain raph.

"well for donnie 'as a friend' is enough, right?" talked leo with a grin of his own.

"yeah but you see, it's not that simple-" and as donatello continued to explain raphael moved his eyes on you finding you peacefully laying in the sofa looking at the ceiling.

why had he been so worried that you had heard? thousand different answers made their way to his mind making a chaos, but he put them away trying to concentrate on his brothers.

while for you everything was finally peaceful, until that famous bunch of carrot hairs arrived, running in the lair with her laptop under her arms.

you groaned before getting up walking near the boys, behind april, to take a good look at the screen.

you gave mickey a little slap on the head as he took his time cleaning his ear with his finger before listening to the interview that was showed by the girl.

"renowned neurochemist doctor tyler rockwell has been reported missing; i spoke with rockwell's colleague, doctor victor falco." said the interviewer holding his microphone before the camera moved over who you thought was doctor falco.

"i hadn't heard from him in days, so i stopped by his lab. the place was a mess and he was gone, i fear the worst." explained the man sounding desperate.

the interviewer was about to continue with his question but april made him stop by closing her computer as leo and you looked at each other confused.

"so?" he asked for the both of you.

"so the kraang have been kidnapping scientists from all over the city, including my dad! maybe that's what happened to this rockwell guy." she said trying to convince all of you.

"or they may not be connected at all." replied the leader making you tilt your head in approval.

"there's only one way to find out. we should go to that lab and look around." you groaned as she finished her phrase believing she wanted to drag you in some pointless mission again.

"april's right. we should go check it out. what's that? you guys are busy? guess it's just the two of us, april." donatello didn't gave you any time to thank him as he was already dragging april out making you relax down on her seat.

you put your legs on the table in front of you and your arms behind your head as leo talked.

"i bet that wasn't on his flowchart." he started only to be contradicted by you.

"there is" you replayed with a smirk.

he didn't believe you moving to the board to take a good look at it, what he didn't know was that donnie had already showed it to you a lot of times spending his time explaining every single on of his plan and making your head explode.

"it is! that is spooky."

"just a little bit" you responded with a smile.

"so what's up with the smile?" asked raphael from his place on your right.

"my smile?" you repeated confused.

"yeah, i tell you that donnie acts like a stolker and you smile?" continued leo walking near the desk.

"well donnie might act like a stocker but that stalker took me out from another pointless mission." you explained still with the same expression not moving from your place.

the guys hummed in agreement before they all got around the desk looking at you.

"what?" you groaned putting your feet and arms down.

"what's your deal with her?" asked mickey like he was doing an interview.

"i don't have a 'deal' with her; she can't stand me and i can't stand her, simple." you replayed rolling your eyes.

"alright, but why?" kept going leo.

"you don't wanna know" you murmured loud enough only for you to hear.

"what was that?" mickey voice made you think about you reasons before you replayed with an higher tone.

"i don't trust her and her mind, she acts strange with donnie, and she looks at me like she wants me to disappear" you responded before getting up and walking away.

"wait [name], we didn't meant to-" started to say leonardo only to be stopped by raphael's hand on his shoulder.

he hadn't talked the whole time just looking at the way you moved and acted at the different question, trying to read your body language.

he knew those where some of the reason but it felt weird to him that after all this time you still couldn't trust the girl.

some hours passed and you found yourself forgetting about the awkward situation.

you watched some episodes of space heroes with leo, played some games with mickey and raph asked you to play video games with him.

you knew it was cause you were easy to beat but lately it felt nice to spend more times with him alone, even if you didn't know why.

your personal time with the boys was stopped when you heard april and donnie come back.

you heart stopped as you saw the way donatello's body was full of bruise and cuts and you scurried near him with leo to help him walk.

"whoa, what happened?" questioned leo as he saw the worry on your face.

"donnie got beat up by a lab monkey." responded april.

and you had to admit that, that bring you back to reality really fast.

"april, can you get an ice pack?" asked leo.

you and leo set donnie down on the couch as she went to the kitchen to do what he said.

"donnie, are you gonna be okay?" you asked him.

"yeah, yeah, I'll be fine." he responded still feeling the pain.

"in that case..." started leo before you all laughed at him and at the craziness of the situation.

"you got beaten up by a monkey? in front of your girlfriend?" joked raphael.

"she's not my girlfriend! and that monkey was a vicious mutant!" justified himself donnie.

"yeah, i'm sure he went bananas!" joked leo making you chuckle again.

"no, no, no, no, no. he went ape!"

"monkey!" screamed mickey as he couldn't contain his laughter.

you saw april coming in back in the corner of your eyes and raph made a movement with his hand to stop all of you from saying anything further.

"no more monkey puns." he murmured before you all changed your expression to blanks one.

april walked in front of you taking a good look to all of your faces to see if any of you would crack before moving to sit on the sofa.

donnie laughed at all of yours change of personality as april moved his head on her lap.

"are you laughing at him because he's hurt?" she asked trying to scold you.

you sent her an hard glare as she tried to be the good guy before mickey talked.

"no, we were laughing at him because he was hurt by a monkey!" he replied making all of you laugh again.

you spent your time sitting near them laughing at the brothers' puns and joking around.

you thought donnie didn't care that much, seeing as how he laughed with all of you; but as you watched him sit near the water, complaining about the events of some hours before, you started to thought the opposite.

the redhead stil hadn't left, but she had took her laptop out keeping her eyes locked on the screen.

you gave donatello a wet towel to clean up before deciding to open the pizza brought by the girl.

you moved to the kitchen trying to went unnoticed but you knew you had caught a pair of emerald eyes.

you were waiting in front of the microoven (you and mickey had found it during your skate time and asked donnie to adjust it), right arm holding you on the kitchen's forniture, while your left one was on your hip.

"what'ya doing?" he asked from behind you.

"the usual, pepperoni pizza" you replayed not moving your eyes from the object in front of you.

he hummed back ,something that you noticed he did a lot, but he didn't leave watching you from behind.

he thought you looked beautiful in that position, with the light pointing the muscle of your arms and your hips slightly moved to the side; it wasn't something weird, it was something that he had always thought, something normal.

"you think he cares?" your voice made him snap his eyes.

"who-what?" he asked ashamed, ashamed of what? that you caught him staring? he wasn't staring, was he? he was just focusing on your beauty, right? he just-

"D, do you think he cares about what we said? about the monkey?"

obviously, you were talking about his brother well being; how could he had thought of something else,you had always been so sweet, always caring about everyone, every time.

"nha, he's good" he responded nonchalantly.

you hummed trying to sound agreeing but he saw the way your body straightened and he walked towards you before putting his hand on your shoulder to make you turn around.

"ehy" your eyes shoot up to look at his "it's donnie, even if he did cares he knew we were just joking"

you didn't say anything as you both stopped to look at each other eyes and you both realised how close you were, you couldn't help but start to feel the temperature change, why was it suddenly so hot??

the same was happening thought raph's mind as he kept looking over at you, he felt the way his body started to boil in the inside and he felt his eyes move to your lips before dragging them back up.

why did he looked at your lips? even he couldn't answer that question.

and in the same way it started it ended as the sound of the microwave made you both take a step back, you quickly took the pizza before giving him an awkward smile and walk out of the room with the food in your hands.

the terrapin remained still watching your form walk to his brothers, they smiled at you not noticing , or not addressing, the blush on your face.

you put the pizza down not daring to turn around, he took a deep breath before arriving near you and there were seconds of awkward between the two of you.

until mickey said one of his famous jokes and everything was forgotten as you put pizza in his mouth to block him from embarrassing you with one of his story.

time passed and you had almost forgot about donnie's encounter with the mutant until april brought it back up.

"guys, i think i've found something. these notes are hard to follow, but it looks like rockwell was able to modify the mutagen."

you all went near her to take a look at the screen and you put your hands on raph shoulder to stabilise yourself, he stiffened for a moment before relaxing under your touch.

"why would he do that?" asked leo for all of you.

"he thought he could use it to create a neurochemical that would temporarily give someone psychic abilities." explained the girl.

"you mean that monkey was psychic?" questioned raph from under you.

"it's more like he was reading our emotions. after all, he was only hostile when donnie was hostile." said april.

"yeah, well next time i'll be sure to think friendly thoughts while i'm beating a little sunshine into him." talked donatello trying to sound intimidating and you chuckled at his comment.

"well we're gonna need to track him down before he attacks someone else." you warned sharing looks with the others

"[name]'s right; let's go up to the surface, spread out, and search." said leo making you nod in his direction.

"how are we gonna stay in contact?" asked raph.

"i have a little something that might help." talked donnie as he got up in front of all of you "gentlemen and ladies i give you the t-phone!"

he took out a little turtle's shell and you saw that the front was a phone, and you had to admit it was kinda cute.

"dude, i'm in charge of naming stuff. i would've called it the t-phone." complained michelangelo as you all got up.

you put an arm around his shoulder nodding pretending to agree with him.

"i did call it the t-phone." replayed donatello exasperated.

"yeah, but i would've called it the t-phone." murmured mickey loud enough to hear and you pretend to look angry at donatello as you exaggeratedly pat his 'little' brother.

raph moved his head from one sides to another as he looked at mickey condition but before he could do anything donnie interrupted.

"and april, if you give me your cell number, i can patch you into our network." he asked turning towards the redhead.

"sweet!" she replayed making you and raph both roll your eyes.

"see that? i got her number." tried to brag donatello to you and his hothead brother.

you face palmed as raphael talked for the both of you.

"her number's on the fridge, you dork."

"you're really screwed donnie" you added sliding your hand down your face after realising the seriousness of the situation.

you kept still, looking down on the street as you waited for a signal, leo had decided to make april follow the monkey for first, making each one of you cover different point to have a complete protection over the area.

you moved your eyes up in the sky finding some sort of comfort in the stars, you had read all about it all of your life but seeing it in real life had always felt different.

unconsciously you started too look around for any constellation or planet you might recognise; after you found a lot, feeling a little proud of yourself, you set down with your legs hanging off the roof waiting for something to happen as you kept your eyes up.

"guys, someone just spotted the monkey on bleecker." april's voice interrupted after some moments of silence.

"i think i'm on his trail." you heard raphael reply.

"mikey, the monkey is headed your way."

"i've got eyes on him. he's headed south on delancey!"

"i'm on houston! i'll cut him off! where'd he go?" asked donatello continuing the hunt.

"he changed direction. mikey, [name], the monkey is headed in one of yours way!"

"i'm on it!" screamed mickey.

finally you saw the monkey run on the street under you and you jumped down to follow him.

after some turns raph jumped near you and he used the wall to try and keep up with the mutant while you turned to a corner.

you kept running not looking back until leo took a place near his brother keeping their eyes on the street.

you jumped above mickey to not hurt him as you kept following the monkey.

"watch it" told you the terrapin as you realised you had left the other brothers behind.

you kept running and running until you arrived in an alley and you pushed him on a dumpster to keep him contained.

"here's your monkey!" you told the others stopping them from arguing any further while you brushed your hand one against the other.

april walked to it and you watched as she made him come out whit ease, before you could say anything mickey caught it.

"gotcha that time!" he said really proud of himself.

"great, [name] got the monkey; but we're not any closer to finding dr. rockwell." complained raphael.

you had kept your eyes on the monkey the whole time and after raph's phrase, as you did eye contact with it, you came to a realisation.

"actually, we're a lot closer than you think." said april having the same thoughts as you.

"what? how?"

"donnie,this is dr. rockwell" you replayed sure of your brain.

"we need to take him to falco" leo ordered, and that was all you needed as you all do your best to stay calm and spread happy thoughts to took it to the doctor.

"there, that should calm him down a little. poor rockwell." said falco as he injected something in the monkey's wrist.

"is there any way to get him back to normal?" asked april worried for the man.

"i wouldn't even know where to begin. but i'll see if there's a way to give him some semblance of a normal life." replied the doctor.

they all looked to each other smiling as you kept your eyes on the mutated man, feeling something off about him and this situation.

you didn't realise that they decided to went back until a hand was on your shoulder, you watched leo look at you with worry and confusion but you comforted him with a smile as you walked away towards your home.

"man, this asteroid field is tough. i just can't beat it." talked mickey as he played one of his games.

"for the fifth times mickey, you need to jump over the purple rock and roll under the red one, not the opposite" you tried to explain to him again.

you were all around the table, you sat with your legs laying on it and your arms behind your head, leo on your left, and mickey on your right while you thought about everything that happened during the day.

april looked in front of her and you caught her giving you hard glances every now and then for no reason at all.

donatello kept typing on his laptop and he momentarily looked around thinking about something giving you a smile as you looked at each other.

you moved your eyes on michelangelo as he screamed again for loosing his game again before you glanced at leo who turned his head towards you.

he gave you comfort by just looking at him, his whole 'big brother' attitude made you feel safe and you couldn't have been more happy about it.

you were about to say something to broke the awkward silence but before you could do anything you heard steps behind you.

"pizza's here!" told you raphael as he dropped it near you.

you put your feet down sitting right before taking a slice, you closed your eyes as you felt the taste that never failed to impress you.

the others moved around to took each a slice too before sitting down at the table to be more comfortable.

you watched as mickey didn't move making you look at him confused, you moved another slice under his nose to make him feel the taste and you watched as his nose captured it immediately.

"must eat pizza. but can't stop playing. but must eat pizza. but can't stop playing! but must eat pizza!" screamed mickey as he went crazy over his multiple choice.

before he could do anything stupid you smacked the slice that was in your hand into his mouth and he gave you a thanking glance before continuing with his game.

"sorry we didn't get any closer to finding your dad, april." said leo from his new spot in front of you.

"it's okay. everything we learn about the kraang is another piece of the puzzle." she responded trying to reassure him.

"yeah, but psychic research? this is one weird puzzle." thought leonardo as master splinter walked near him with a plate and a slice of his own.

"i am curious, april. how did you know the monkey was really a human?" questioned splinter looking at the girl.

"i don't know. sometimes I just get a feeling about things." she replayed.

this caught your attention, you got a lot of feelings too. you thought it was only your sixth sense but, maybe it was something more?.

"a feeling? hm, interesting." he replied moving his eyes on you before leaving.

"hey, donnie; how come you're not eating?" talked leo towards his brother, and only then you realised he hadn't touched any food.

"what? i'm not hungry." you rolled your eyes as he quickly dismissed his brother with an hand not moving his focus from the screen.

"something's been bothering me." he continued not noticing you getting up and walking near him.

"yeah, maybe your stomach." you responded before shoving a slice of pizza in his mouth.

he eat it in second and you chuckled at his 'non hungry-ness'.

he finished eating before exposing to all of you his problem. "falco said that rockwell was experimenting on a monkey."

"and?" leo questioned.

"well according to these notes, he never had a monkey in his lab. he was just using sample of monkey dna." continued donatello.

"we're still not following you." commented leo watching all of yours confused expression.

"if he never had a monkey, what broke out of that cage?" asked rhetorically the genius brother.

"it must've been rockwell!" you and raph both responded together.

"flick" you screamed pointing with your finger in his direction.

he looked at you unbothered before rolling his eyes pronting his brother to continue with his talk.

"which means falco put him there and he's been lying this whole time!" finished donnie making you all glare at each other with determination.

you all went to get ready, you observed the guys getting their weapons before turning around, but as you put your suit on you found a terrapin near you.

"need a hand with those?" he asked looking at your weapons still in your hands.

"i can handle myself big boy" you replied without hesitation before looking at his own suit.

"need a hand with those" you mocked looking at his belt slightly loose.

"actually, yes" he responded looking at you with a smirk.

you rolled your eyes before walking near him taking his sai from their place, before tightening the belt; you put his weapons back in place before giving a pat on his plastron.

"all done lil baby" you told him smirking.

"five seconds ago i was 'big boy' and now inn 'lil baby', what happened?" he asked copying your expression as you looked at one another.

"you made me change my mind" you responded before walking away.

you both didn't noticed the others looking at you with their mouths agape, they couldn't believe how obvious you both were. you still didn't know about your feelings for each other and you were already acting like a married couple.

"so you're telling me they aren't a couple?" talked april still not believing it.

"not yet!" responded mickey with a goofy smile.

you arrived in falco's lab running, all your senses were on high alert as you had finally found out the truth.

"all right, falco! we've had enough of your-" started leo.

"do not say 'monkeying around.'" interrupted him raphael.

"i wasn't going to." tried to complain the leader.

"yes, you were." you and falco both said together.

"flick, i guess" you shrugged tilting your head.

"it's over, falco! we know it was you who mutated rockwell!" accused him donatello.

"i used him as a guinea pig."he responded.

"well, it didn't work. you turned him into a monkey." commented michelangelo making you chuckle while his brothers rolled their eyes.

"the psychic neurochemical i extracted from his mutant brain is changing me. your minds are opening up to me." he confessed making you understand more and more.

"so this was your plan all along." talked donatello.

"of course. no man can defeat you when you know his every thought."

"how about a turtle?" you murmured looking him right in the eyes, and you knew the doctor had heard you.

"oh, really? then you must know I'm gonna smack-" started to say raph only to be stopped by the enemy.

"smack the white off my lab coat? how humorous!" mocked him falco.

"lucky guess! yaah!" screamed raph before running towards him.

raphael fought and you watched as the doctor dodged every single one of his moves. he kicked him hard against donatello and michelangelo as you and leo started to attack him.

you knew you had to not think to win this battle (you had watched a lot of movies with this trope so you had thought of yourself as a possible winner), but usually to not think you used music and it wasn't a option this time.

he pushed you away before kicking leo down and you continued to fight against him as you heard mickey and donnie try to find a solution.

he kicked you away again making you hit your head, why they all heated your head so much you didn't understand.

you blacked out for some moment and when you started to woke up you found donnie get pushed against a wall.

you heard the doctor try and push the bottoms of donatello but it didn't do a lot to him.

"by the way, do you really think you have a chance with april?"

and hard glare made its way on your face before you screamed to donnie to just-

"fight without thinking, goddamit!"

you watched as he mumbled something under his breath before he started to attacking and you finally got up.

you were about to help donatello but you watched as he held himself good enough and you looked at him with proud in your eyes.

"whoa, donnie, nice work!" complimented him raphael after the doctor was k.o.

"i guess my words worked just fine!" you said before you side hugged donatello putting your head on his shoulder.

"what'd i tell you about those back flips, huh? pretty cool!" bragged michelangelo while giving you an high three, making you smile and donnie rolls his eyes.

you moved your focus on the container in mickey's hand, happy to put an hand to this mission.

"now that we have the ooze, let's see what falco knows about the Kraang." started donnie as you all turned towards the man in question.

you all gasped as you found the spot clean, not a trace of the man there.

"falco's gone!"

"again, we've eyes donnie" you responded pushing his head jokingly away from you.

you heard movement behind you and only then you looked at the monkey still blocked on the chair.

"what do we do about him?" questioned michelangelo.

you looked at donatello as he walked near him to free him, the monkey got up and ran towards the window stopping right in the edge to look at all of you.

"i'm no psychic, but I think he's trying to thank us." explained donnie before the monkey ran away.

"if he reacts to angry thoughts, is new york city really the best place for him?" asked raphael and you realised your mistake.

you heard chaos on the street and you grimaced at the thought of what was gonna happen, before talking.

"looks like the little brain cell moved to another brain." you commented.

raph and donnie both sent you an hard glare before leo talked.

"i'm sure he'll be okay." he reassured you and you nodded in agreement.

you ran back to the lair and you quickly took all your things off as the boys set on the sofa, they turned the tv on to relax a little.

while you wanted to talk to splinter about your day you ran to the dojo only to find your master splinter talking with april.

you moved behind the wall to hide and hear at the same time.

"april, it seems you have a rare gift, a sensitivity i have trained my entire life to develop." started your sensei.

"don't worry. you'll get it." responded the girl.

"i did! it just took me a long time." continued master splinter.

"that's nothing to be ashamed of." she responded and you couldn't believe your hears.

why couldn't she just give some respect to him, it was thanks to him that you all had been good enough to help her escape.

"what I am trying to say is that i would like to train you to be a kunoichi a female ninja, just like [name]." explained better splinter.

your eyes almost got out of your skull at this.

"wow! that's quite an honor. if I do this, does that mean I can kick everybody's but?"

you mentally face palmed at her comment before continuing to listen to the conversation.

"we don't believe in using our abilities that way." tried to stop her the mutated rat.

"oh, yeah! me neither. but I could, right?"

"yes. but I warn you. it will be the hardest thing you've ever done. it will drain you mentally, physically, and spiritually." he warned her and you know who he was talking about; you knew he got flashback and you knew he had to take a deep breath.

but still she didn't get the memo as she kept her attitude of 'know-it-all'.

"well, can't be worse than high school." she told him before getting up and going towards the living room to welcome the boys.

"you can come in now" said his deep voice just as you turned around to try and go away.

you sighed before going inside towards the voice, and you kneeled in front of him in silence as you waited for him to talk.

"so, how did it went?" he said to your surprise.

"good, well not 'under percent' good since falco escapade, but still good since we found the other doctor." you explained looking down.

he hummed letting you know he was listening before taking a small breath.

"you know, you're gonna have to accept april one day"

you remained still for a second before gathering your thoughts.

"when she'll show me i can accept her, i will" you responded straightening your back.

"your a both fighting fire with fire and if don't use water soon, it's gonna cause a blaze"
