CHAPTER THREE:
RAY OF SUNSHINE

SHE'S ALWAYS SEEN HERSELF AS a monster. It's a mindset that's she been trapped in since she had been the one to brutally murder her parents. And that was all she could think about as she laid on that chair, allowing for Bruce and Rosalynn to poke and prod her, drawing her blood that had changed from black to red after leaving her body. It was something that the duo were quick to scribble down, seeing as they've never seen anything like it.

She knew that this was something she was going to get tired of really quick, but she also knew that what they were doing was for her own good. She knew that if there wasn't a way to control the devil within her that there was no way that any of these people inside the Avengers building was going to live to see another day. And the thought of allowing more blood to trickle onto her hands made the dark haired woman cringe in her spot. The death of her parents was awful, but the death of hundreds of innocent people could make her so much worse than she already was.

Willow snapped her head from her thoughts at the sound of a latex glove being snapped off of someone's hand. She blinked, swallowing thickly as she turned her head to look at Rosalynn, watching just in time as she tossed the gloves into a trashcan. Noticing Willow's eyes on her, the dark haired woman offered her a gentle smile, one that Willow seemed to find extremely calming. The simple thought seemed to make Rosalynn's smile widen slightly as she crossed the lab and over to Willow.

"We're done for today." Rosalynn told her, removing the blue band from her arm allowing the blood to flow once again. She watched as Willow forced herself up into a sitting position before she focused her attention on the doctor/scientist. "We've gotten all the important information that we need, and we plan to analyze it and give you our thoughts on it as soon as we possibly can. Until then, Willow, take deep breaths, explore, and please make yourself feel at home." She reached over and gave Willow's shoulder a gentle squeeze before offering her a small nod of the head and walking away from her and over to Bruce.

Willow stared at the couple for a few moments, watching as a gentle chuckle seemed to fall from Rosalynn's lips as she talked to Bruce. She couldn't help the small frown that fell on her face, her heart seeming to shatter in her chest. She knew that she could never have something like that. To have someone that cared so deeply about her they would do anything for her. She knew she couldn't have that, simply because of what she was. What she could do. And how the urge to kill literally ran through her blood. As she made her way from the lab, she silently decided to make a promise to herself. She decided that Rosalynn and Bruce would be the only ones she talked to, but otherwise she would keep herself locked away.

Willow started down the hall, glancing towards the band-aid placed on her arm from where Bruce had drawn blood. She grimaced in disgust before ripping it off, throwing it into the next trashcan that she had passed by in the halls. She placed her hands in the pockets of her pants, making her way down the hall and occasionally removing her hand from her pocket in order to tuck a strand of dark hair behind her ear. As she turned the corner to make her way towards her cell, she found her footsteps slowing to a stop when she saw a red haired woman leaning against the wall of her cell door.

Willow glanced around nervously before carefully taking a few steps closer to her. She straightened her shoulders before clearing her throat, causing the woman to look at her. Willow felt her breath leave her lungs as their green forest eyes met her dark muddy brown ones. "Excuse me."

"Willow Michaels?" Natasha Romanoff removed herself from the wall as she narrowed her eyes at Willow. She watched as Willow nodded her head. "Good. Just the person I was looking for. Follow me." Natasha started walking, stopping immediately afterwards when she realized that Willow wasn't following her. She inhaled deeply through her nose before turning on her heel to find Willow already looking at her.

"I'm sorry, who are you?" Willow questioned, cocking her head slightly.

"Right." Natasha breathed. "Natasha Romanoff. Avenger and an ex-Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D."

"Willow Michaels, demon possessed woman that killed her parents. Nice to meet you." Willow scoffed, sarcastically holding out her hand for Natasha to shake.

"Well, aren't you just a ray of sunshine." Natasha retorted, causing for a smirk to crawl up her lips. Natasha narrowed her eyes at Willow, staring at her for a moment before she crossed her arms over her chest. "Well, are you coming with me or are you just going to stand there?"

"That depends, where are we going?" Willow crossed her arms over her chest, mocking Natasha much to her own amusement. And Natasha simply rolled her eyes.

"I'm showing you to your room."

Willow furrowed her eyebrows in confusion before pointing her thumb towards the cell that now stood behind her. "That's my room, in case you didn't know."

This time it was Natasha's turn to smirk as she shook her head. "Not anymore." And then without another word she turned on her heel and walked away with a confused Willow following behind her.
