( SERAPHINA )
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐨𝐧. a beacon for literal death and destruction. seraphina had been living there for nearly two months and it seemed that every night brought inevitable death. that's what she told herself as she helped ethan haul danny's unconscious body into the hospital. it seemed that night was a busy one as she saw multiple doctors rolling bodies out and in.
"someone help us!" she yelled as she and ethan tried to keep danny upright, the boy was struggling to breath and neither ethan or seraphina could figure out what was wrong. seraphina had taken a liking to danny, it seemed everyone did. so when ethan called saying he needed her she didn't hesitate to drive over.
scott and his mum rushed over as they helped bring danny to a wall to stand, melissa tending to the boy as ethan watched in worry. it didn't take an idiot to realise he was in love, it took a blind person.
"what did you do to him?" scott asked the two as he glanced between danny and a panic struck ethan, seraphina only watched the boy with a gut twisting feeling. there was something worse going on than what they were witnessing.
"nothing! he said he was having chest pains and trouble breathing, but it just kept getting worse..." ethan tried, the two had been studying before. well their version of studying and then apparently he just started coughing. like he was chasing air.
"how much longer on dr. hilyard. this is not good" melissa worried as she yelled down to another nurse, "his larynx has shifted to the side. i think it's a tension pneumothorax." she said trying to feel the boys abdomen.
before anyone could check him the boy slid down the wall well throwing up an off white substance, small pearly balls coming out his throat with it and small green leaf's.
seraphina had been alive long enough to realise what it was "is that...?" she couldn't finish her sentence as she was confused on where it had come from.
"... mistletoe" scott finished for the girl as seraphina rushed to danny's side, letting the boy lean his head on her shoulder. the smell of his sick sticking to her hair as it also stuck to her clothes. she didn't find herself caring as she cradled his head and tried whispering sweet nothings. her own eyes though held more worry than scott had ever seen, she looked scared.
"scott, you three need to go to the waiting room" melissa said as she began to lay danny down and off seraphina's shoulder. the girl squinted as she began to shake her head.
"where are all the doctors and nurses? where is everyone?" ethan said obviously not planning on leaving, his knees finding the side of danny's body as his hand found the boys.
"it's a full house tonight-- they're tending to other patients." the woman said in stress as she began trying to feel danny's chest to check his breathing, obviously nothing improved.
"what can we do?" seraphina asked in worry as she pushed the mistletoe balls away from the boys head, the thought of them being covered in phlegm and sick not being her main focus
"honey, you can't. his lung is collapsed. his heart is being pushed against his chest cavity, so--" from the way she was speaking nothing sounded like it was going to work out in the teenagers benefit.
"he's gonna die, isn't he?" scott asked grimly making seraphina send him evil eyes. he was always so optimistic so why is it when it didn't concern his pack he was a debby downer.
"..no, no he's not. scott grab that tape. you, grab those scissors and cut his shirt open" melissa began ordering as scott and ethan did as told. seraphina watched as danny's chest began stilling.
"melissa, he's not breathing" the girl said in worry as she began hitting the woman's arm in worry. the woman nodded as she began to stick a needle into his chest letting air enter his lungs again.
the three teenagers stood in silence as they waited for danny to start breathing again, a gasp from the boy brought as sound of worry and happiness got out of seraphina's throat. "thank you" the boy got out weakly.
𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐬𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐦 broke seraphina out of her sleep as she shot forwards in bed, the sound coming from next door had the girl up onto her feet quickly as she shot out of the door. after the reports of the dead doctor last night it was safe to assume healers were next. seraphina may not have had any connection to melissa but after saving danny's life it was the least she could do.
she didn't bother knocking on the door as she climbed through the slightly open window on the bottom floor. she could hear the voice of melissa and scott from where she guessed melissa's room was. she briefly admired the family photos situated on the walls as she hurried.
"what's happened?" she questioned as she found herself in the doorway, her feet bare and her hair falling out of the bun it was in. a girlish yelp left isaac's throat as he turned around to face the girl.
"how'd you get in?" scott asked as he stared at the girl and the locked windows in the room, he walked over to one of the windows looking directly across into her room.
"downstairs window was open" she shrugged as if it were normal, melissa found herself groaning as she smothered herself with a pillow. three teenagers now stood in her room thinking she had been murdered.
"what were you guys doing?" the woman asked the boys as seraphina walked further into the room, her body stopping besides isaac. their arms close enough to touch as she began to lean into her left foot.
"uh, we were watching over you..." isaac shrugged as he tried to find the reason, it sounding stupid considering they were all asleep
"but both of you were asleep" seraphina pointed out as she pointed at the pillows and blankets on the floor. it had been arranged as if they were at a sleepover.
"you were on watch last!" the boys accused eachother as they turned to point taunting fingers at one another.
"what are you talking about? you were on watch last" isaac tried arguing but the look scott had said he was positive he wasn't on watch last.
"no, you were on watch last!" the boy argued
"i might have been on watch last" isaac said sheepishly as his hand found his neck.
the woman threw her arms up amused "my heroes! wait, didn't you say that they were all doctors? i mean, i haven't had an m.d. recently attached to the end of my name, so I think I'm in the clear..."
"the way you acted last night said otherwise" seraphina pointed out as she thought of danny, isaac giving a girl a confused look not knowing she was there. something scott had opted to not mention.
"yeah, well, i'm not gonna be anyone's human sacrifice today, so both of you get your butts to school. and seraphina, go home" melissa wanted to laugh. she was meant to be protected by two sleeping wolves and one mean demon.
"𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐞𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠?" stiles asked the girl as he rushed to keep up with her pace in the hallways. , seraphina didn't consider stiles a friend but the boy was persistent with his effort to "understand" her as he put it.
"both of them on the floor like babies" seraphina repeated, stiles was looking amused with the recent news from the morning. it was weird for seraphina to spend so much of her time willingly with mortals, but it seemed beacon hills was no safe space for any supernatural creatures and surrounding herself with others was her best option.
the two stopped walking outside of stiles' locker as seraphina glanced around the halls, no sign of boyd, isaac, scott, lydia, allison or evangelina. she had barely spoken to lydia or allison and evangelina since their arguement.
"he's at home today "stiles spoke as he turned too the girl briefly before turning back into his locker. seraphina gave him a confused look before he sent her a smirk making her roll her eyes
"i was not looking for him" she pointed out, but she knew it was a lie. she was always looking for isaac. it was peculiar to admit, so she wouldn't. isaac did not like her, and she did not like herself that much either. so now as she fell further into the mortal life she began to hate herself so much more than originally.
"it's okay to admit you like him, it's a normal thing" stiles said before backtracking once realising how it sounded "no! it's normal to like people, not just isaac" the boy said flailing his arms around.
seraphina found herself smiling softly before gulping "letting yourself submit to someone else if for the weak" she muttered, memories flooding her brain as she thought of her. all the pain she felt and tried so hard to hold onto, pain being the only thing left of dorothy.
before stiles could ask her what she meant the girls hand shot to her chest as she tried to catch her breath, her legs wobbling slightly as stiles went to grab her shoulders so she wouldn't fall. "what's wrong?" he asked as he supported her.
seraphina knew what she felt, it was so familiar, so comforting. she held onto stiles' wrist as she found her eyes scanning the almost empty hallways. before she could do anything about it the fire alarm began to go off. she wanted to roll her eyes.
"i'll meet you outside" she told the lanky boy next to her as she regained her balance on her own and made her way down the hall, not waiting to hear his protests. she knew when he around and she knew she couldn't let him get away.
her feet found the corner of coaches office right next to the boys locker room, seeing the door swing shut she sped up her pace so she could slip in. it was too silent around her as she treaded the corners with caution. it could've been her mind playing tricks on her or asmodeus could've been on earth.
"miss me?" his scottish accent broke the silence like a knife, his body leaning against a set of lockers with a smirk across his perfectly crafted lips. asmodeus had always been perfect to look at, maybe not so much on the inside, but the outside always pleased.
"heavens" the girl found herself sighing as she rushed to the boys outstretching arms, the weight of the world crashing down onto her shoulders as she clung to him. it had been years since she'd seen him in the flesh, been able to hold him so close.
"it's felt like centuries" her voice cracking as she pulled him closer by the boringly mundane shirt he wore, her hand scrunching the material inside her palms. his hands finding the back of her head as he tangled his fingers in her hair.
there had never been anything more than a friendship between asmodeus and seraphina. they had been in love with eachother since the first day they met, but not in the kissing and sleeping together way. but in the way that they were willing to set the world on fire before ever leaving one another's side way. they were soulmates knitted together in spirit.
"how are you here? lucifer? your father?" she asked as she took a step back, she couldn't have any of them finding her or her family on earth. if so they'd be forced back to babylon to fight in the war, a war they were sure to lose.
the boy pulled his sleeve up revealing the ruined carving in his skin, the delicate designs which took hours to perfect now covered by slashes and a bloodied bandage. seraphina knew what this meant for asmodeus and she found her hands cradling his face.
"do you know what this means?" she asked as she lowered her voice, there were always demons watching in the shadows of the dark "you'll lose the throne, you'll lose it all" she wanted to cry, tears of confusion and regret because she knew she had led him there.
"a life without you by my side is not worth living" asmodeus told her as he dropped one arm and stroked the other through her hair, "i told you i'd find you in every lifetime, i have time to try again and earn my fathers forgiveness"
"lucifer you're a sap" she found herself chuckling as she pressed her head into his shoulder, the smell of death and rotting corpse basically emitting off his skin. the smell of the dead was hard to wash away, she had been trying for years.
the reunion was broken once again as the doors to the changing rooms opened again, two sets of footsteps were heard. seraphina lifted a finger to her lips to quiet the boy as she took slow steps to see who it was.
"is there a problem?" the voice of the pretty strawberry blonde asked as she stared at derek's sister with crossed arms and pursed lips. there was something undescribingly alluring about lydia martin, something that pulled seraphina closer.
"yeah... derek would kindly like to ask you to stop seeing aiden" cora ordered, the girls figure stoic and not moving. her face showing no emotion of caring how lydia was going to take this news. "which means that if I catch you with him again, I'm not going to pull the fire alarm... i'm going to pull your tongue out of your head" her words making seraphina think she would have to intervene.
lydia only rolled her eyes before pushing her bag up her shoulder "sweetheart, my last boyfriend was a homicidal lizard, so I think I can handle a werewolf." she said going to turn and exit but cora grabbed a hold of her arm "let go"
she tried pulling her arm away but the hold of the she wolf didn't weaken "let go! i said-" she was cut off by seraphina walking out from behind the lockers.
"let go" "she said let go" seraphina and stiles both said as stiles entered the room as well, there was no way she was getting asmodeus out of there unnoticed. the four sets of eyes all glancing at eachother before cora unwillingly let go.
"you didn't tell me the dogs were in town" asmodeus spoke as he walked out from behind the lockers, stiles scrunching his eyebrows before looking between asmodeus and seraphina.
"who the hells this guy?"
"𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐥𝐟" asmodeus spoke from behind cora as he walked around the clinic playing with all of deatons druid things. seraphina had to bring him along so she could keep an eye on him. asmodeus was reckless and didn't clean up his messes.
"shut him up before i kill him" cora nearly growled as she sent the boy and seraphina a scowl, seraphina would've laughed and told her how nothing she did would kill him but decided not to.
"okay, so what does this kid's homework have to do with finding your vet?" asmodeus asked as he looked at the things spread across the table. seraphina didn't know deaton but getting to the bottom of whatever was sacrificing people in town was a big concern for her, especially considering she didn't want to be one of them.
"because it's not just homework, okay? It's a project on geomagnetic fields. they flow through the earth. they can even be affected by lunar phases, all right?" scott tried explaining, it was obvious he didn't trust the demon prince but he trusted seraphina enough.
"now, look at this-- this is a note from harris on danny's proposal" stiles said as seraphina picked up the note holding it between her and lydia to look at.
"i strongly advise you to choose another topic. the ideas here, while innovative and thoughtful, border on pseudo-science. not suitable for class." lydia read as an unsettling feeling washed over the group.
"so your old chemistry teacher wasn't just a sacrifice? he knew something" asmodeus caught on quickly, always did. the boy joining stiles' side to look at the research once again.
"yeah, now check this out - " stiles said as he began to trace the lines on the map pointing to something "allison's dad wasn't the only one with a map, all right? danny had one, too. danny marked all the telluric currents, okay? now, the weird thing about beacon hills is that it actually is a beacon-- you wouldn't believe how much energy flowing through the earth is around this town."
"they match!" scott said as he pointed between the two maps, one he'd stolen from the wolf hunter. "all right, there's three places, right? where they're kidnapped, and then the place where their body was found"
"look, that's right on the telluric current." lydia pointed out as realisation settled deeper into seraphina, the girl pulling the map closer to her
"wait. let me see that. you said there's six more bodies to be found. deaton's one of them. they gotta be somewhere in between, right?" it had to be where it had all started, where they had found them originally.
"stop. he's in the vault- the same vault" cora figured out. the vault where she and boyd where held captive all those months.
"guys, hold on-" lydia called out as scott began rushing to grab the map on the table to find deaton, a phone ringing on the table. something wasn't right and seraphina could feel it.
"lydia, we don't have time-" stiles tried, lydia obviously felt what seraphina did as the two girls shared a glance. asmodeus watching his friend with confused eyes, she had never been this physically close to a mortal since dorothy.
"it's boyd. the plan didn't work. they cut the power" cora gulped as she glanced between the group. they had been planning this all along, someone was going to die tonight, and it wasn't going to be an alpha.
"we have to go" seraphina rushed out remembering who was in derek's loft, whatever worries she had only tripling.
"it's just like he said..." scott said stunned remembering decaulion's words "go! i can save deaton myself" seraphina contemplated for a second before latching a hand onto scotts wrist.
"asmodeus go with him. protect him" she turned to her friend before letting scotts wrist go. scott gave the boy a look as if to ask if he were coming, asmodeus only nodding hesitantly before following after. she knew asmodeus wouldn't do anything to hurt him.
"what? scott, what about us?" stiles called out rushing out of the room after the two referring to him and lydia, maybe seraphina.
"cora can't get there fast enough without you. go. we can save both of them." scott directed, stiles taking a second before nodding in agreement to the boy. asmodeus and scott gone in the next second.
"let's go" seraphina repeated as she began to rush out of the doors towards stiles' jeep. demons didn't like wolves, but the thought of one dying tonight didn't sit well with her.
𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐭𝐨𝐨 𝐥𝐚𝐭𝐞. they hadn't reached the switches fast enough. as seraphina's legs carried her up the stairs as he hands gripped the railings to her side. she could smell it, death. she could sense the lost spirit floating around the building waiting at the doors of the afterlife.
the sight in front of her making her steps falter, boyd's lifeless body lay in the water with five claw marks in his chest, derek on his knees slashed up and isaac's unconscious body in the water. cora's scream broke her stillness as she ran to boyd.
"no, no, no" she found herself repeating as she slowly made her way across the water, she passed derek and couldn't bring herself to look at boyd as she dropped besides isaac. his arm was burnt slightly but it would heal.
she found herself dropping to her knees as she pulled his head into her lap, trying whatever to get him to wake up. stiles finding derek's side as he tried to offer whatever comfort he could. one realising isaac would be fine she crawled her way to boyd's bloody body.
her hand found his chest as she pushed all her energy into trying to revive him, trying to bring his soul back for just a second. but the stillness of his chest showed nothing was working. for a moment she considered if bringing him back was the right idea, no one who came back from the dead was ever the same.
"i am so sorry" she found herself saying as she brought her fingers to the boys face, whatever celestial energy she had left in her making its way into his body. if it was enough he would be able to avoid hell forever, he would go to a place better than heaven. he'd be at peace.
"i am so sorry"
