( SERAPHINA )
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*"𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭?" seraphina asked as she detached her lips from the boy in front of hers neck, she had met him only a few hours prior in the town centre. it was currently around 9pm and she was eager to know what interrupted their make out session.
"who cares?" the boy asked as he flipped the two round and she was now the one against the tree, she smirked slightly as she kissed him back. she had planned to take his soul tonight but it seemed someone else had the same idea in the dark of the night.
the wind silenced for a second as the sound of leaf's crunching could be heard in the distance causing her to groan into the boys mouth as she pulled away. "what is that?" she asked again as he continued assaulting her neck causing her to suck in a breath not wanting to do what she was about to.
"hold on" she said holding a finger up as the sound got closer and seemed to spread. she detached herself from the boy as he tried catching his breath leaning against the tree. her feet carried her further away from the boy as she tried to sense where the sounds came from.
"hello-" she was cut off as a hand swooped her from underneath throwing her onto her back, her head slamming against a rock causing a nasty gash. "fuck" she swore out as she looked up to meet the horrifying face of some kind of creature. it looked burned and nasty. something even beelzebub would gag at.
the creature went to grab her throat as it lifted her to her feet, them swinging beneath her as she tried to catch her breath. her feet going to kick the creature in the stomach but her airway stopping quickly. not even her claws which had come out after leaving the boy could help her.
the thing in front of her wrapped a garotte around her throat as the skin began to split quickly, clumps of blood leaving her mouth as her eyes went cloudy. this wasn't the most painful death she'd experienced and she knew she'd be awake in five minutes at most but the fact she didn't even have enough time to sprout wings or horns before being attacked deeply aggravated her.
her lifeless body dropped to the floor and the creature took off, didn't spare a glance at the girls dead body, didn't check if she was dead. didn't stay around long time to see the gash on her neck begin to stitch itself back together. her white shirt was still stained with her own blood and the mud from the ground she was left on.
𝐢𝐭 𝐨𝐧𝐥𝐲 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬. the feeling of being dead. the feeling that there was something wrong with coming back to life. there were very few people who could cheat death as seraphina had just done but there were always reasons for the way the world worked.
she gasped as she shot forward, hands finding her neck now only feeling the scar of the garotte. in the exact same place the noose which had hung her had been all those years ago, the only difference was she had accepted that death.
she scrambled to her feet as she began to make her way back to where she left the boy, hands wiping off the mud from her jeans and the back of her hand finding the blood from her mouth. a line of swears left her lips as she saw the lifeless body of her recent lover, four claw marks in his chest where his heart would've been.
"fucking wolves!" she swore under her breath as she began kicking the ground beneath her. she was feeling weak seeing the last time she had killed was the day before she started beacon hills. after leaving asmodeus behind she had taken a stroll through the town enjoying the silence and cold as it left her bones shaking.
after calming down from her tantrum she let her ears pick up on the sound of people nearby, scotts voice becoming familiar as she felt her anger consume her. she didn't care if beacon hills was wolf territory, in babylon no one would've ever thought of stealing another's prey.
so the next decision she made could've either have led to her demise or promised her a new dinner. her discarded hair and blood stained shirt meant nothing to her as she stormed towards the voices. they should've heard her she noted.
"can you hear that?" derek asked as the three males silenced, footsteps coming closer quicker and quicker. not being able to tell if it were boyd or cora keeping them on edge.
derek's back turned quickly as his hands found the neck of seraphina, the girls body slammed against the tree behind him. her neck slightly sore from the recent attack but she found herself grinning maniacally in the face of the handsome wolf.
"seraphina?" scott asked as he took the girls appearance in quickly, she looked like a victim not a bad guy. "let her go, derek" the boy demanded as he pulled derek's hand away from her neck.
her own hand found her throat quickly as she slightly held the bruise she was sure to have in a few seconds. the night had been hectic she was sure, the only guarantee she had was it was about to become a lot more chaotic and she couldn't wait.
"what are you doing out here? what happened to you?" scott asked as he approached the girl, nothing but worry was in his eyes as he took her arm into his checking for any other visible injuries.
the girl furrowed her eyebrows slightly as she finally allowed herself to take the boy in, he was too pure for her. she could tell he just wanted to help people, not a stray thought in mind. he was someone she'd usually hate.
"you tell me, one minute i'm with my date and the next thing i know im dead" she said sticking her tongue into her cheek as she pointed to her neck which showed proof of her recent demise.
"you died?" a voice from behind scott and the other male spoke up as a taller body pushed themselves off the tree they were leaning on. beacon hills was a beacon for hotties. his blue eyes reminded her so dangerously of dorothy.
"and so did my date, but unlucky for him he stays dead" she said, scott and derek sharing looks. derek's arms stayed crossed as he looked the girl over and took in her scent. he'd never smelt someone like her before. "which one of you did it, his heart was ripped out?" she asked.
the three shared looks as scott and derek took small steps back, her annoyance seemed to be continuing growing and she was getting agitated. her claws hadn't retracted after the death and scott wasn't first to notice.
"who killed me?!" he yelled as she went to swipe at the mans throat beside scott, before she could reach him scott grabbed her arms and pushed her back against the tree. a groan left her throat as his hands tightened so she couldn't move "i don't want to kill you scott" she muttered.
she could feel her whole body heating up as her eyes turned red, she knew it was hurting scott to hold her still. "what are you?" the blonde boy asked begrudgingly from behind as him and derek joined scott in his restraint.
she could feel her horns beginning to break through her skull and skin as she threw her head back trying to control the pain, they weren't as big as her mothers just like her wings weren't as big as her fathers but it hurt all the same when transforming.
"oh my god" isaac said as he watched the black and grey horns protrude from her head, she definitely was not a wolf. it seemed like whatever was happening to her hurt just as much as the way her skin felt against hers. like molten lava trying to peel their skin off.
derek's face twisted into one of horror as he whispered the one word "demon"
"𝐢 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐥" seraphina whispered from the backseat of the car besides the blonde, isaac lahey, as she stayed shackled by the chains derek just had sitting in the trunk of his car.
"why haven't you?" isaac asked turning to look at the girl, there was something about her just making him want to let her go. she looked too small to be a demon. it was like he was purposely ignoring the horns from her head and the claws from her nails.
"too much attention would be brought to my family. and i don't kill supernatural's unless im forced to" she muttered earning a nod from the blonde, derek keeping a close eye on her from the front of the car.
"are your whole family demons?" isaac asked, derek wanted to tell him to shut up but in all honesty he was just as curious as his beta. seraphina wanted to laugh as they sat clueless as to who she truly was, who her mother and father were.
"have you ever heard of lilith?" she asked leaning forward so her head was near to derek's ear, the man froze slightly at the name but nodded in reply anyway "my mother. and i'm sure you've heard of my father" she giggled as she tucked her head into the mans neck taking in his scent.
he had suffered as many tragedies as the brunette from the library. but he was strong. he'd make a good warrior in the battle going on just below them.
"so let me get this straight, your the devils daughter?" isaac said putting two and two together before derek. the girl nodded with a bright smile as she leant back in the car watching scott interact with the hunter in the parking garage.
"we've kidnapped the devils daughter" isaac said to himself as he felt his eyes widen well leaning backwards, now even the girls close proximity was putting him on edge. wolves, druids and kanimas but never a demon.
"i need to distract myself" isaac muttered as he climbed to the front seat besides derek and away from the girl who would probably strangle him when derek wasn't looking. "do you think this is going to work?" he asked his alpha.
"nope" derek said plainly, seraphina watching the two's body language closely. they trusted eachother immensely.
"me neither. uhm... so your sister?" the blonde asked sparing derek a quick glance which the man returned with a glare. seraphina would've laughed at the blondes face if she wasn't shackled in the back seat.
"sorry, yeah, it's... it's bad timing. i'm sorry" he waved off, earning another glare "i'll ask later. it's fine... or never" he stammered. "yeah, yeah... im good with never!" seraphina found this situation hilarious even though she had the smallest idea what was going on.
"you are just so cute" she said without thinking as she focused her attention on the blonde who had purposely moved away, he had also avoided her eyes when stuck in the back with her, no one ever looked away from her.
"𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐢 𝐠𝐨 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐞?" seraphina asked from the front seat of derek's car, they'd chained her shackles to the car door so she sat with her wrists under her chin leaning against it through the open window.
"who's she?" chris asked as he looked up for a second from the ground, scott gave him a look saying 'you don't want to know' which recieved a nod from the hunter. seraphina was on even more edge around the man considering how she'd been hunted for the past few centuries.
"you're tracking them by print?" the hunter asked as he looked at scott, isaac and derek with a disappointed but not surprised look. seraphina knew why he was asking but knew she'd be better off keeping her mouth shut.
"trying to..." scott trailed off. seraphina glanced at the ground noticing how the footprints were all the size of males and didn't match a girls at all. probably all a mixture of the four men in front of her.
"well, then you've been wasting your time. there's only one creature on earth that can visually track footprints, and that's man." chris scolded. this argent guy seemed cold and calculating. he didn't trust any of them there, except maybe scott. but from what she gathered they all trusted scott.
"and, if you're not trained like me, you have no idea that this print is boyd's and these--" chris started before being cut off by isaac who stood looking smug from the tree besides the car.
"are cora's" the boy was obviously not the brightest she noted. a groan left her throat as she looked the boy up and down. he had the looks going for him but idiocy was a major turn off to her, no matter if sex was all she wanted.
"you're lucky you're pretty doggy. they're not the cora girls, you all walked over hers" she nodded to the ground, chris nodding to agree with her. noting how high the moon hung she guessed lilith would've been curious to where she was but wouldn't worry as it wasn't uncommon for her to sneak off.
the only one at home who cared enough to search for her was evangelina, but since being away from babylon her powers had weakened as well. the fourteen year old could find her through a vision but the woods all looked the same at night
"listen, I know the three of you are focusing half your energy on resisting your own urges under the full moon, but that puts you at a severe disadvantage to boyd and cora, who have fully given in. they put the pedal to the floor, where you three are barely hitting the speed limit" chris explained well sighing, none of the boys in front of him understanding.
"so, what do we do?" derek asked as he got impatient. seraphina wondered what it was like to worry about a sister like that, she had never tried to form a connection with evangelina just assuming lilith would've abandoned her in hell with the other rejects.
"focus on your sense of smell. actual wolves are known to track their prey by up to a hundred miles a day by scent" the hunter said getting impatient now. the talk of the hunt and finding prey was one seraphina had with her father as a mere child.
back when she still fed on animals, before she had sold her soul and began feeding on the blood of mortals. the memory came now and again to remind her that she was once as close to being a human as ever. it reminded her of what her father made her.
"a trained hunter can use scent to track them. if the wind is with them, wolves can track a scent by a distance of two miles, which means we can draw them to us... or into a trap. the full moon does give us one advantage-- they'll have a higher heat signature, which makes them easier to spot with infrared." chris said as he pulled out night goggles from his duffle bag.
"thanks, but I've got my own" derek said smugly as he flashed his eyes red, seraphina rolled her eyes at the cockiness of the man. pride was the devil.
"just remember, we're not hunting wild animals. underneath those impulses are two intelligent human beings" chris pointed out making seraphina tilt her head. she didn't have much knowledge on werewolves but assumed the animal senses took over on a full moon.
"you need a pair?" chris asked as he glanced to the girl in the car, she was already weak from not feeding so didn't think she'd be able to access her powers through the night. she declined either way though not planning on joining their rescue mission.
"isaac will stay with her" derek said making isaac push himself off the tree ready to detest before shutting up seeing derek look at him. how he ended up with the antichrist wasn't a question he'd ever see himself asking.
"when's the last time you saw your sister?" scott asked turning to derek, the mans face now going stone void of any emotion. seraphina knew that look, it was the look she had whenever speaking about evangelina.
"not in years. I thought she died in the fire" seraphina guessed the fire was the root of all his pain and misery. it must've really fucked his life up for him to be so closed off she noted.
"do you feel like you have a lock on her scent?" the hunter asked continuing to empty out his duffle bag onto the ground. "scott, how confident are you in your skills?" he then asked seeming to know the alpha was conflicted.
"honestly, most of the time, I'm trying not to think about all the things I can smell" scott said making seraphina stiffle a giggle which got her sent four scolding looks from all the males.
"all right-- the problem is when they breach the woods and hit the residential area. once they're past the high school, they're right in the middle of beacon hills" now would be a good time to warn her mother and evangelina about the rogue wolves out for blood but she knew they'd protect themselves.
"they're not gonna kill everything they see, are they? isaac asked as he suddenly stood straighter and his arms tightened in their crossed position. death obviously wasn't as common to him as the others.
"no... but, there is an important difference to recognize. wolves hunt for food-- at a certain point, they get full. but boyd and cora are hunting for the pleasure of the kill-- for some apex predatory satisfaction that comes from the ripping of warm bodies to bloody shreds. and who knows when that need gets satiated?" the tone of the mans voice hinting towards an execution.
"we're not killing them" scott said out loud before looking at chris and derek. he was certainly too pure for hell, and maybe even just too pure for heaven. seraphina knew how corrupt heaven actually was, how most people up there even got in.
"what if we can't catch 'em?" derek asked looking the hunter in the eye, he was trying to get rid of his feelings towards his little sister incase it ended with her blood on his hands.
"then maybe we just need to contain them. there's no one in the school at night, is there?" it seemed like a smart solution seraphina told herself, something she would've suggested if she cared.
"you want to trap them inside?" derek asked incredulously thinking it was crazy. locking a bunch of blood thirsty wolves inside a school with no guaranteed escape.
"if there's a strong enough door, with no windows or access to the outside..." chris said before a lightbulb went off above puppy's head making him speak up. maybe he wasn't just a pretty face. "what about the boiler room? it's just one big steel door"
"you're sure the school's empty?" chris asked obviously not up for any casualties. hunters were corrupt seraphina reminded herself, as long as the humans survived it didn't matter what happened to the others.
"it has to be-- there can't be anyone there this late, right?" scott clarified turning to isaac and seraphina forgetting for a second she was an enemy of theirs. "unless they're asking to be killed" seraphina said thinking back to all past souls she'd stolen.
chris nodded before walking them all over to his car and opening the boot, a whole load of what looked like animal traps layed out. he picked up a small box machine thing. "these are ultrasonic emitters-- it's one of the tools we use to corral werewolves, pushing them into a direction we want them to run. it gives off a high-pitched frequency that only they can hear." he said before pressing the button.
derek, scott and isaac all began holding their ears in pain as well as seraphina as she threw her head against the dashboard trying to stop the rattling sound in her ears "stop it!" she screamed from her seat in the car directly across from chris'.
"god, no kidding!" isaac mumbled to himself well taking a quick glance at the girl in the front of derek's car, it seemed wrong to keep her shackled considering she hadn't done anything wrong. forgetting for just a moment how she tried to mutilate derek's neck.
"these are gonna drive them to the school?" derek asked as he avoided looking at seraphina who watched them intently. "and then, it's up to you to get them into the basement" chris told them before stuffing three transmitters into another small duffle.
"does anyone else want to rethink the plan where we just, uh... kill them?" isaac asked now lifting his head making seraphina grin to herself. maybe he was just used to death, too used to it.
"it's going to work. it'll work." scott said confidently, not intending for anyone to die this time.
"𝐬𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐦𝐞?" seraphina asked as isaac began to undo the shackles on her legs and wrist. the boy avoided her eyes and didn't reply as he wanted to get it over and done with. the others has already left for the school.
"awh, are we not on speaking terms?" she questioned as she watched him begin to undo the ones on her ankles. it wasn't like he could never speak to her, she assumed they went to the same school. she also knew scott was not just going to let her roam around freely knowing what he does.
"come on puppy" she said as she began to play with the boys hair as he was still kneeling, it was taking everything inside isaac to not do something. kiss her, push her, anything. he felt like he was being pulled by some string towards her. and from past experience he knew this meant he should stay away.
"don't call me that" he grunted moving to her wrists now, she tilted her head slightly watching as he concentrated on opening them. his blue eyes so close to dorothy's making her feel at home. not in babylon but in salem.
"you look so much like her" she sighed to herself as she shook her wrists off, the restraints causing bruising to appear. "till next time puppy" she saluted before turning and beginning to stumble home through the woods.
and all isaac could do was watch.
