𝙄𝙉 𝙒𝙃𝙄𝘾𝙃 — a band of six believes they're destined to change the world, they are in fact not. Though, that won't stop them from trying.

During the '90s, nearly every genre of music had a place in our society. Whether it was hip-hop or grunge, there was a group that focused on it. Though, with the mainstream music becoming so wide in range, pop music became lifeless, soulless. Nothing felt meaningful, and it became a bland mix of celebrity drama. Nobody truly gave a damn about Christina Aguilera's music, it was all for the look, the fame, the luxury. People wanted to be her, but they didn't truly like her. Pop artists became false idols for the media, and young teens across the world were quick to take place in any trend that came their way! It was fantastic for the greedy executives, who needed more money, sooner than later. People were buying whatever was considered popular, and it was beginning to get ridiculous. Worshipping artists is never a good idea, they're not idols. No mere human could be an idol. Celebrities are no more than human— no matter what they're portrayed as. Your life will go on without them. Their music is not monumental, it is not life changing. Learn to reject false idols.

That's why the new and upcoming band Vandal, has been destined to change the world! Or well, they believe they're destined to change the world. Think about it, they've titled themselves an edgy name. That's a great sign with a band! Nirvana, Slipknot, Metallica. I mean, really do any of these bands have normal names? Of course not! So Vandal it is. Now, they've decided, they're going to be the music that today is missing. As we enter into the 2000s, it's important to be mindful of the music you listen to. Which is why this pretentious band of past scene kids is hellbent on making change. Though, there is a bit of infighting within the group due to a messy cheating scandal, and the involvement of a possessed member. Not to mention, the group can't seem to have one normal morning without one of them getting into a fight. They also are plagued by the supernatural, and it never seems like they're able to escape it, even in the massive, dark, scary mansion they live in, which is located in some British place, which makes it extra frightening. Technically, it's a music studio, but they live there. Mostly, because the bassist is absolutely insane, and can't fathom being awake from their music. Pompous asshole, right?

Now, as the release of their first album is approaching, everything is beginning to come to a close. With a six member band, counting the ghost rapper, things are going to get a bit... Difficult? Not to mention, the mixture of genres that the band experiments with. It isn't exactly going to be easy to become number one on the radio, but alternative teenagers should eat this up, right? Perhaps rejecting false idols is harder, when you're projecting yourself as a savior for the current generation. It's hard to accept that you're not what the public needs. You're just another drunkard rockstar, claiming you invented the genre, despite that never being your original message, it wasn't what you wanted. Though, I suppose you'll just do it anyways, since fame is consuming. Just remember, reject false idols, unless they're apart of the greatest band in the world, Vandal.

⁂ 𝐊𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐒 ⁂
This is probably the most simple rule to understand, and should be common sense. If you're going to join this applyfic, you're required to treat others with kindness. I understand that sometimes, it's hard to like a person, or maybe you hate their character, but do not treat them poorly. I don't tolerate hate speech in my applyfics, don't expect it to be taken lightly, please!

⁂ 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐆𝐄𝐑𝐒 ⁂
Substance abuse, alcoholism, smoking, overdose, addictions, celebrity culture, supernatural aspects, dark backstories(?), cheating, abusive relationships, hyper-sexualization, and likely more.
This book will be handling mature topics. Gorillaz is quite literally a commentary on celebrity culture, and the characters are not unlikely to have addictions, PAST abuse, or other massive parts of celebrity culture in the 2000s. I'm not looking to erase the entirety of what Gorillaz is from my Gorillaz inspired applyfic? Things are going to get dark, and I don't want it to be in a 'haha' funny way. I intend for myself and the readers to take any topics discussed, and handle them maturely. If you cannot do that, don't apply. This isn't the Applyfic for you. In other words! This is not a typical band Applyfic, it's going to be hectic, and things are going to get dark.

⁂ 𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐈𝐓𝐘 ⁂
Diversity is essential to the plot of this book. These are characters who are based off members of the band Gorillaz, and that means that some races will be set. That doesn't mean the other characters are defaulted as white, since there isn't a default race. If something isn't specified, it's entirely up to you. Though, I do appreciate if you put effort into your portrayal. Please be respectful of the culture involved with your character, and we should be all good. Other than that, I'd love to have characters of varying genders, sexualities, and personalities. I don't want the same thing for everybody, and I'm hoping the roles will sway that.

⁂ 𝐅𝐀𝐂𝐄𝐂𝐋𝐀𝐈𝐌𝐒 ⁂
Faceclaims aren't that strict at all! I'm going to ask that the faceclaim looks like they could pass for the age of your character, which by the way, should be in their late twenties. While Gorillaz has child characters, this Applyfic will not. The slot based off Noodle is going to be similar to the adult noodle from the late phases of Gorillaz. Though, just remember I want ages to be above 24-25, and your faceclaim needs to pass for it. This is really the only requirements. Influencers, actors, and models are all perfectly fine faceclaims! The only requirement is to have more than one picture of them. I don't want stock photos, please!

⁂ 𝐋𝐎𝐑𝐄 ⁂
All of the lore of this book is strictly based on the lore of Gorillaz universe. While this does take elements from Gorillaz, you don't have to know what it is to apply. This is really just a passion project, since I'm majorly into the lore of the band. Overall, there will be six roles— they will be based off Murdoc, 2-D, Russel, Noodle, Del, and Paula. They are not the SAME characters, though they may have similar backstories and some attributes. I will say, this lore is going to be incredibly wacky? For example, characters knocking their eyes out in car accidents, possession, being swallowed by a whale. Anything can happen, and I want that to be clear. Now, there are some things I'm going to change, mostly to keep it on the lighthearted side with band dynamics. I don't mind dark backstories, I prefer to write plots either substance. Though, I just want it to be clear that the band dynamics will be MUCH less abusive, and more on the boundaries of outlandish. In other words— no in-band abuse, this is my side project. I don't mind stuff happening outside the band, but physical or mental abuse is a no-go within the band.

⁂ 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐘-𝐒𝐔𝐄𝐒 ⁂
No, you cannot make characters secret fairy princesses. No, you cannot have a Gorillaz Stan who managed to join the band. And for Christ's sake, I am begging you not to just copy and paste a Gorillaz character. Yes, this counts as a Mary-Sue, because that's not the point of this applyfic. I will be cracking down on these, your character is not special. They're all problematic, they're all very stupid, and none of them are the main character. I refuse to have a main character in my Gorillaz applyfic.

⁂ 𝐋𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐑𝐀𝐂𝐘 & 𝐃𝐄𝐓𝐀𝐈𝐋 ⁂
I'm someone who absolutely adores whenever forms are stacked with details. If you send in a form that lacks detail, please don't be surprised when your character isn't accepted. Details don't necessarily have to be long and wordy, they can be short and concise, straight to the point. I don't mind either way, I just think that it's important to have an actual character rather than just a name and a few traits. Do research on your flower, find ways to incorporate it into the character. Work on their legacy and what that means for them. I do require that your form has at least 1,000 words, so that I can write the character accurately. That doesn't necessarily mean that it has to be jam-packed with words, just make sure it hits that mark, please!

⁂ 𝐆𝐇𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒 ⁂
Please, don't be a ghost reader! If I can write an entire chapter, where your character is involved and plays an important role? You can write a few comments on the chapter. I understand anxiety when writing comments. I struggle so hard with it, but it gives author's motivation to comment. If you're going to be gone for a week or so, please let me know beforehand, so that I don't assume you're ignoring updates. I totally understand struggling to comment, but try your hardest, please! I'll appreciate it no matter what!<3

Alright, this is a big thing. I am okay with in-band romance, if the characters are different enough from canon for it not to feel weird. Like if your character is a complete replica of Russel, and they end up having a plotline with the Noodle slot? That is uncomfortable, I don't like that. I want it to be clear these characters have no familial connection, I don't want a character to be overtly childish, or act like they've never been an adult a day in their life. These are separate characters to the originals they are based on, which is why I felt the need to make this section at all. I don't intend for this book to have any major romantic plot points, and it won't be the main focus, but if something ends up working? It ends up working. Just, like, know I'm begging you not to be a weirdo, thanks! (This is targeted<3)

Hey y'all! So this is Demon Days! I've literally been dying to do anything related to Gorillaz, and I'm so excited that I finally can? This is kinda a passion project, like you have no idea how obsessed I am with this premise. However, the deadline for the form won't be until later in the year, mostly so that I can begin writing my larger project, Bed of Roses. This is just something fun on the side to destress. I still want depth, I still want complications. This just won't be my priority in updating.
