𝟎𝟎𝟐 bonfire incident
♡ DEAD GIRL WALKING ♡
LAUGHTER DANCED THROUGH THE AIR, and the dark forest was illuminated by the bonfire that numerous teenagers lingered by. music boomed from the radio of a nearby truck, and a few drunken teens flushed their bodies against one another, lips colliding together as others shielded their eyes from the public displays of affection. a raven haired girl lingered, forcing an audible gag as she strode past the couples. Aria Hastings ran her eyes over her classmates, hearing the familiar laughs of Caroline Forbes.
Aria suppressed the urge to roll her eyes as she spotted the blonde, seeing her desperately flirt with the poor boy that stood in front of her. Aria could hardly recognize him, with his dark brown eyes and thick bushy eyebrows. his hair was jelled away from his face, and he wore a leather jacket.
"I see nothings new." Aria chuckled, giving the blonde girl a side eye as she walked past her. the girl had decided to make an appearance at the party-- though, no one actually knew she was there. glancing at everyones facial expression, it appeared as though no one was. . . sad. was everyone over her death already? it'd only been a few days, she had expected at least her close friends to still be mourning. narrowing her dark eyes, she made her way towards Elena Gilbert and Bonnie Bennet next.
"wait, you need a crystal ball," Aria heard Elena state before the brunette bent down, grasping an empty beer bottle. she presented it to the brown-skinned girl in front of her with a small grin. Aria tilted her head, a frown staining her lips. what were they doing? Bonnie reached out to grasp it, halting in her movements. her eyes grew wide, and she felt as though her heart had been torn straight from her chest. she hastily ripped her hand away from the bottle.
"what?" Elena awkwardly chuckled.
"that was weird. . . when I touched you, I saw a crow, and--"
"wait, what?" Elena's heart began to thump against her chest as she interrupted, taking a step closer to the young Bennet girl.
"a crow. there was fog. and a man--" the girl trailed off, glancing toward Aria's direction. the Hastings girl froze, could she see her? or. . . sense her, rather? Bonnie grew chills, but shook her head as Elena's facial expressions dropped. Aria didn't pry her eyes away from Bonnie, her tongue pushed against the inside of her cheek.
"i'm drunk. i've been drinking. there's nothing phsycic about it." Elena still hadn't said a word, watching as the girl who claimed to be a witch took the empty bottle of beer from her hands, "yeah? okay. I'm gonna get a refill."
Aria watched as Bonnie strode away. she glanced to her left, quickly spotting Tyler Lockwood and Vicky Donavan, fingers intertwined as they stumbled deeper into the forest. the raven haired girls thoughts became swarmed with her closest friend, Cady, as she had a massive crush on the Lockwood boy. where was she? Aria had visited her a few days ago, having seen the girl tucked beneath her bed sheets, a framed photo of the duo in her grasp. her sobs echoed through the walls, and mascara stained her flushed cheeks.
Aria couldn't bare to see her in that state, so she left. she hadn't seen her since. a strand of dark hair fell into her frame..
She could spot Elena and Matt donavan exchanging words. the conversation looked heavy. awkward, as well. everyone knew that the two used to date. they were endgame. they broke up when Elenas parents had died, since then, it seemed like everything had changed. the two had went there separate ways, the Gilbert girl walking into the forest, seeming as though she was on a mission. she was no doubt on a hunt for her little brother, Jeremy. the boy was known to be a druggie. it was his way of coping.
glancing around, Aria had come to terms with the fact that she would never be able to speak to these people again. the people she had grown up with. she shut her eyes for a moment, releasing a shaky breath. she curled her fingers into her palms before humming to herself in an attempt to calm her nerves. there was nothing for her here. no one knew she was watching them, she could feel her stomach clench as a slight rush of anger took over.
she turned her head, moving to leave the party scene when a loud shriek rang through the air. teenagers gasped, some flinching as they looked toward the forest. Elena and Jeremy rushed back, a limp body in their grasp. Aria squinted, recognizing the body as Vicky Donavan. her lips parted in shock as she took notice of the gash across her neck, crimson staining her clothes. students began to crowd as the Gilbert siblings placed her on a table.
"holy shit!" Aria exclaimed.
"Vicky? what the hell!" Matt shouted at the sight of his sister sprawled on the table. he rushed to her side, palms growing sweaty as he hovered over her body.
"somebody, call an ambulance!" most of the teens had sobered up at the sight of her.
Tyler Lockwood glared at those that surrounded, "everybody, back up. give her some space!" he harshly shoved a boy away from the scene.
"its her neck! something bit her. she's losing a lot of blood, its bad." Elena announced, tears brimming her eyes as she pressed her fingers against the girls pulse. Matt lifted his gaze from his sister, immediately staring at the mysterious boy that had moved into town. Aria followed his gaze, recognizing him from his dark eyes and bushed eyebrows. Stefan Salvatore was his name. it wasn't long before Stefan stumbled away from the scene, pushing his way through the crowd of students as Matt's blue eyes stalked his figure.
Aria could almost feel her chest tighten as she made her way towards Vicky's limp body, walking through the crowd. Vicky's skin was growing pale. her lips were parted, and her brown eyes were hidden beneath her eyelids. the Hastings girl lifted her fingers up to her mouth. was this what she looked like when she was discovered? covered with blood, unrecognizable?
The Hastings girl couldn't handle it.
Aria stepped away, rushing from the scene as the hushed whispers about Vicky Donavan began to fill the air.
