the constant pinging of her phone is what wakes chloe up. she had thought about ignoring it but if she was awake there was no point now, sitting up against the headboard of her bed she groans, reaching for her phone. not even needing to swipe up, she sees who was trying to get hold of her this early.

chloe didn't know how she had any energy this morning, the night previous they all ended up going back to george's for a bit and she tried to remember it but she spent most her time staring at alex, wondering what was wrong. she never had time to ask the boy, every time she went to, he started laughing with george.

trying to push that memory away, she got out of bed, instantly being met with her fluffy friend, dakota. they sat together for a moment, chloe petting her, that moment cut shorter than usual mornings though, due to chloe having to get ready to go out. the dog whined as an apologetic chloe moved away, frowning back at her dog, hoping for her to realise the mutual feeling.

dakota eventually got up from laying on the floor and set herself down into the cozy pet bed beside chloe's vanity. the brunette took this as her time to have a shower before beginning to get ready.

moments later, she was walking out of her bathroom, hair wrapped in a towel, unwashed but avoiding the water droplets that lay across her exposed skin that wasn't covered in the bigger towel. chloe made her way over to her wardrobe, picking out her outfit for the day, it wasn't fashion statement worthy but it worked. laying it out on her unmade bed. now knowing the outfit, she walked over to her vanity at last. her favourite part of every piece. hair and makeup.

knowing she didn't have a big day ahead of  her she decided on just some mascara, a tinted gloss and a little bit of highlighter, to brighten some areas of her face. looking back at the outfit on the bed, chloe then chose to straighten her hair and leaving it to fall across her shoulders, having a feeling it'll look better with it then any other hair style would.

after finishing her hair and makeup, she walked back over to her bed, getting ready. the outfit consisted of a white cropped tank top, a black cap, white converse and a baggy pair of jeans with designs on the back area of them. she finished it off with a white belt and some daily jewellery she'd wear.

chloe checked her phone, seeing the time, it had been just over an hour since the couple agreed on the meeting time. quickly getting her keys and locking up her place, she got in her car and clicked the 'call' button by cora's name.

she runs over to her best friend at their arranged meeting point, both girls enveloping eachother in a tight hug. they hadn't seen eachother in person in a couple days, which was quite a while for them, usually seeing eachother every day and never going for longer then two days without. when they pulled away, cora was the first to speak "how was last night?"

"it was interesting, would've been better if you were there."

"of course!" both girls laugh, "right, now tell me all about it!"

so that's what happened, chloe told cora everything, from the second she left the house to the minute she fell asleep. this meant cora now knew about george and carmen, something she will be sure to tease him about the next time she sees him, but it also meant she knew about the moment between chloe and alex. her heart stung, she put that down to chloe's unfortunate situation of having a boyfriend though.

the day went on but neither would stop talking, they started with their arms linked, their laughter filling the air, as they explore the boutiques with beautiful displays. they tried on countless outfits, twirling in front of the mirrors, and sharing their honest opinions. chloe tried not looking at her watch too often, thinking it'll make the time go by slower but still then the day began caving in on the pair.

although, both girls did feel shopped out as they kept walking, arms still linked with a smile that couldn't be wiped from eithers face. chloe looked over at cora, her eyes softening seeing her friend. moments like these made her realise how lucky she was to have a best friend, a friendship this perfect that made her the happiest person she could be. "that was the best day we've spent together in ages!"

"i agree," chloe replies, "the shops finally had the right stuff."

the brunettes knew they would have to say goodbye at some point, but as the pair walked into the parking lot, seeing both their cars parked beside eachother, cora's white mercedes and chloe's black, the moment became melancholic. cora turned to her best friend when they reached their cars, "thank you for today."

"i would do it all over again with you," chloe smiled before pulling her friend into a hug, "i love you."

"i love you." and with that the friends parted.

it was strange really, the girls saw eachother pretty much everyday, yet the goodbyes never got easier. the only explanation that made sense to chloe, was maybe the underlying fear that it would be their last.

after posting the photo that both girls chose was the nicest before they separated from each other, chloe decided on messaging alex, to get the lingering feeling of guilt from last night to hopefully leave. she couldn't stop thinking about how he looked and although nothing had happened throughout the night that could've changed his mood so suddenly, she just had to clear it up, just incase something did happen.

chloe takes a deep breath, a million thoughts racing round her head, she knew this was what she had to do. she wanted to and she would, but the thought of it made her feel physically ill. still though, chloe typed in the man's number she was attempting to get ahold of. it rang three times before she heard the familiar voice replace the ring.

cody anderson connecting...

"i knew you'd come running back," was the first thing chloe heard, she could hear the cockiness in his voice.

"i'm not running back this time, cody," her slightly shaky voice was laced with an underlying tone of confidence, one that did get through to him.

"are you sure about that?" he replied, accompanied with a laugh that made her feel uneasy, "i wouldn't be one to judge."

"i'm ending things, once and for all," chloe squeezed her eyes shut, but when she heard silence she continued, "i tried cody, i tried so hard for you, i did everything you asked but you did nothing in return that would favour me. i loved you, i really did, but i'm not going to wait around for someone who i know won't change."

"i can change." his voice calm, settling almost.

"you can't, not enough for me, i'm sorry."

"you planned this. you planned to fuck up my life. you knew i was happy with you, i was so in love and you decided to fuck it up and blame it on me-"

the line went dead. chloe didn't need to hear more, nor did she need to say more. a wave of relief did wash over her as she realised she had officially broken up with him, the man that had manipulated her life for almost three years.

chloe approaches the door of alex's house, messaging him a quick, 'i'm here', so he could let her in with no hassle. she only had to wait a few seconds before alex opened the door, they looked at each others faces, only seeing a mirror of each others tired expressions. "how are you?" the brunette asks as she pulls the taller boy into a hug.

"yeah, i'm okay," alex mumbles, shutting the door behind her as they walked inside, "how are you?"

"i'd be better knowing you were actually okay." the stern voice brought the older of the two back into the conversation, but he just shook his head in response.

"honestly i'm fine, i just got tired whilst we were out and i still am tired." she nodded, knowing he was lying, an odd tension fell over them, something that didn't happen often.

"i've broken up with cody," chloe states, walking past alex and placing the pizza she had collected onto the lounge table where they'd sit.

"you didn't have to do that, chlo." he replies, an underlying tone of guilt.

"i've wanted to for ages," he watches her, as a small smile breaks onto her face, "thank you."

"you're welcome?" alex questions, smiling right back at her. she laughs lightly seeing his face full of confusion.

the tension that was once there slowly back to melt as the night went on, that's how they ended up where they were now, alex's head laying on her lap, after falling asleep halfway into the movie they chose and her eyes fighting to stay open. at the end of the day, it was her favourite movie and she intended on finishing it awake. hearing her phone ping only seconds later, she looked around for it, if it was too far she would leave it, not wanting to wake alex up but when she saw it was beside some empty bowls, where popcorn and other snacks once were, she knew it was okay to reach for without disrupting his sleep.

swiping up, she expected to see cora being the one trying to get hold of her, but to her surpise it was instead carmen. the girls had messaged only twice since the restaurant but still she had a soft spot in her heart for the brunette spaniard, so in respect to that she replied straight away.
