SEASON 1, EPISODE 12, PART 1
โ โโ โโ โโ โโ โ
Delaney stood behind her brothers as they dug around in the trunk of the Impala. They were finally close to finding whatever it was that terrorizing the town they had been told to check out by John. More coordinates but not ones that pointed to where he was now. It upset Delaney a little, but she had to push it out of her mind and focus on the task at hand.
"Wait are those tasers?" Delaney gasped as she noticed what Dean and Sam were holding in their hands. "We have to electrocute this dude?"
Dean nodded his head and slammed the trunk closed once him and Sam had all the weapons they needed. "Yeah and I have this sucker set to 100,000 volts. This guy is going to be extra crispy. Now remember, Sammy, you only get one shot at this thing, so make it count."
Delaney warily followed after her brothers into the house and down into the basement where they knew this thing to be. Her flashlight was shined down into the basement as she followed Dean down the steps, Sam right on her heels. The tasers made her slightly nervous because one wrong move and either one of her brothers could get accidentally tasered, which would be fatal with how high the voltage was.
A bang against the inside of the closet to the right made the three siblings and jump and shine their flashlights towards it. Dean and Sam stood on either side of Delaney with their tasers pointed at the closet. They slowly crept over to the closet and stopped a few steps away.
"On three," Dean whispered to his siblings. "One... two... three!" He swung the door open and both boys pointed their weapons inside. Two small children screamed at the sudden appearance of the siblings, but quickly relaxed when they realized the guy wasn't with them. Dean and Sam quickly lowered their tasers.
"Is it still here?" Delaney asked the two children quietly, who nodded frantically. It broke Delaney's heart to see the pure terror in their eyes.
Dean bent down and grabbed the little boy's hand while Sam helped the little girl out of the closet. "Okay, grab your sister's hand. We're going to get the both of you out of here."
Sam allowed to the children to go ahead of him before rushing over to the stairs with his brother and sister right behind him. Dean walked backwards as he kept his taser raised in the chance the thing popped up behind them.
"Sam, go with the kids!" Dean ordered and Sam quickly did as he was told. However, as Sam was making his way behind the kids, something reached out and grabbed his ankle causing him to trip and fall back down the stairs. The children stood at the top of the steps as they stared down in horror at the hand sticking out between the steps.
"Sammy!" Delaney yelled as she went to help him get back up. She heard Dean's taser go off and a loud roar from behind the steps.
"Take the kids, Sam. Go!" Dean yelled as he ran off to find the thing and make sure it was dead.
Delaney made sure her brother got back up the steps safely and took his taser before rushing off to help Dean take down whatever was down here. She tossed the taser to Dean and ran behind him while they both searched the basement. There were towers of boxes everywhere so it was kind of hard to see around them where the thing was.
Suddenly, Dean was flown back and into a puddle of water that was surrounding the wall behind them. Delaney gasped as she saw the thing pop out and she slowly backed up and felt something under her foot - the taser. Dean must have dropped it when he hit the wall. She quickly tossed Dean the taser again and Dean immediately shot the taser at the monster in front of him.
Delaney sighed in relief, happy that could finally be done with this hunt that they'd been at for almost a week and a half now. However, her relief was short lived when she heard the agonizing screams of Dean. She quickly looked up to see Dean being electrocuted along with the monster. Both of them were stood in the water and shocks from the monster were transfering to Dean through the water.
The monster finally dropped to the ground and Delaney rushed over to Dean. She dropped to her knees and ignored the water quickly soaking her jeans and shook Dean. "No, come on, Dean! Wake up. Please." She begged, tears quickly welling up in her eyes and her heart feeling like it was being squeezed by Iron Fist.
Dean remained unresponsive and Delaney could barely feel his heartbeat in his chest which freaked her out even more. "No, don't do this to me, Dean Winchester!" She cried and whipped her head around when she heard Sam running back down the steps.
Sam's eyes widened when he saw how distraught Delaney was and Dean's unresponsive form held tightly in her arms. "Del..."
"Sam, h-he shot the monster... and-and..." Delaney couldn't finish her sentence because the sobs finally took over and she buried her face into Dean's chest.
It took Sam a minute to finally snap out of his trance and be the calm and collected big brother because someone had to be responsible right now. "Okay, Delly, we have to get him to the ambulance outside."
Delaney reluctantly let Sam take Dean from her and she slowly stood up. She stood for a moment and watched Sam's retreating form up the stairs of the basement. She closed her eyes and quietly prayed to whatever god was out there to save her brother.

Delaney laid in the hospital bed, clutching onto Dean. He had woken up a little bit after they arrived at the hospital. Ever since he had woken up, Delaney had been attached to his side. Sam was out by the reception desk trying to get the payment set up for Dean's room and filling out whatever papers he had to. Sam had suggested Delaney go with him so Dean could relax for five minutes, but Dean had assured Sam that Delaney could stay. Dean hadn't said a word since, just mindlessly flicking through the channels on the tiny tv in front of Dean's bed.
Dean's heart was really slow and quiet in his chest, which worried Delaney greatly. It didn't sound all that great to her and the grey tone to Dean's face didn't help much either. He seriously looked like death. She was glad he was alive, but something in her gut told her this wouldn't be good. Dean's hand that was rubbing soft circles on Delaney's back usually helped to relax her, but even that wasn't relaxing her at the moment.
A few minutes later, Sam finally returned to the room and the broken expression on his face solidified Delaney's worry. This wasn't good.
"Have you ever actually watched daytime TV? It's terrible," Dean complained, not tearing his eyes off the TV.
Sam's heavy sigh finally got Dean to look away from the TV and over to Sam. He shut the TV off and tossed it onto the bed in between him and Delaney. "I talked to your doctor."
"The fabric softener teddy bear - ooh. I want to hunt that little bitch down."
"Dean," Sam stressed, not in the mood for Dean's usual banter.
Dean pursed his lips and nodded, realizing how serious the situation he was put into truly was. "Right, well... I guess you both are leaving town without me."
"What?!" Delaney exclaimed, shooting up in the bed and looking at Dean. "Are you nuts?"
"We're not going to leave you here, Dean," Sam added.
Dean made himself more comfortable in the bed and relaxed against his pillows. "Sam, you better take care of that car and Della. I swear I'll haunt your ass if either one of them is ruined."
Delaney scoffed and slid off the bed, walking to stand next to Sam. "That's not even remotely funny, Dean."
"Oh, come on," Dean waved a hand dismissively. "It's a little funny."
Delaney just stared at Dean, not liking one bit that he was joking about this whole thing. He was literally on his deathbed and he was acting as if he didn't even care what was going to happen to him. That he would be leaving behind both her and Sam. Delaney already lost her mom and Will. No way she wanted to lose someone else, especially not her eldest brother who practically raised her and was more of a father figure in her life than their actual dad was.
"Look, guys, what can I say?" Dean asked, clearly defeated. "It's a dangerous gig. I drew the short straw this time. That's it, end of story."
Sam shook his head and stuffed his hands in jacket pocket. "No, don't talk like that. We still have options."
"What options?" Dean challenged, his voice raspier than it was when they originally started talking. "You got burial or cremation. I know it's not easy, but... I'm gonna die. Neither one of you can stop it so just accept it."
Delaney wasn't sure if she wanted to cry or strangle Dean at the moment. Did he seriously not care at all what was happening? She wasn't ready to accept the fact she was going to lose her brother. Like Sam said, there had to be options that they could use to stop this from happening. "Well, watch Sammy and I make sure you live until you're, like, one hundred and twenty."

Delaney sat in the motel room with Sam with articles and research pages about the heart littering the bed around Sam. Sam was trying to call their dad for the third time since they got back and he was still getting no response. Couldn't he just answer the phone for two seconds, especially since his son is calling multiple times in a row? Wouldn't that strike him as odd and that maybe something had happened?
"I'm scared, Sammy," Delaney whispered, fiddling with the article she had been reading for the past twenty minutes. She just couldn't get herself to focus on the words in front of her because all her mind kept returning to was Dean. What if they didn't find a cure in time? What if they actually lost Dean? That thought alone sent her anxiety through the rough.
Sam noticed Delaney's breathing become erratic and he scrambled off his bed and onto the one she was sitting on. He placed his hands on her knees and rubbed them softly. "Delly, look at me okay?" He asked and she slowly raised her head to look at him, her eyes wide and her chest heaving. "Delly, deep breaths."
Delaney followed Sam as he guided her through the deep breaths, which slowly began to help her calm down. "Sorry."
"No, Delly, don't be sorry," Sam stared at her for a long moment, making sure she was truly okay now. "Have you ever gotten one of these attacks before?"
Delaney bit her lip and thought about whether or not she should tell her brother. Ever since the nightmares started with Will and then his death, it all just quickly caught up to her. It's why she never slept anymore. Anytime she closed her eyes, she would see Will's lifeless body on her ceiling and it would freak her out. Delaney was usually never prone to anxiety attacks, but she figured everything was changing so might as well add that to the list.
"Delly..." Sam warned as he noticed her hesitating.
Delaney let out a long breath through her nose before she responded, "A few times since the whole Will thing happened. Ever since those nightmares started... it kind of just messed with me I guess. Now thinking about the possibility of Dean ending up like Will... I guess it just kind of was a trigger for me. I'm sorry if I scared you."
"Does Dean know?" Sam asked even though he was pretty sure he knew the answer to that. Dean was clueless.
Delaney frantically shook her head and her eyes went wide again. "Sammy, please do not say a word to Dean about this. I am literally begging you here. He'll just be even more protective than he already is. He's finally letting me step up to bat and handle the cases with you guys. If he knew about this, he wouldn't let me anywhere near those cases. I promise I will be okay."
Sam opened his mouth to rebute, but was cut off by a knock on the door. He exchanged a confused glance with Delaney before he got up and walked over to the door. It swung open to reveal none other than Dean, leaning against the doorframe, a dark blue hoodie on and sweatpants.
"What the hell are you doing here?" Sam questioned in shock.
"I checked myself out," Dean grinned and slowly made his way into the room.
Delaney got off the bed and rushed over to Dean to help him sit on the bed she had been previously sat on. "Dean, are you crazy?"
Dean winced slightly as he shifted to sit more comfortably on the bed. "Well, I'm not going to die in some hospital where the nurses aren't even hot."
Sam walked over and stood next to Delaney as he crossed his arms. Delaney and Sam looked as if they were standing over their son who had done something he wasn't supposed to. Dean had the innocent, boyish grin still plastered on his face and Delaney itched to reach out and slap it right off.
"You know, this whole I laugh in the face of death thing - it's crap. I can see right through it," Sam stated with a raised eyebrow. "You're not exactly slick, Dean."
"Yeah, whatever, dude," Dean scoffed and glanced up at Delaney. He narrowed his eyes at her as he took in her appearance. She still looked kind of pale and glassy eyed from her anxiety attack just minutes before. "Have you slept, Della? You look worse than me."
Delaney forced a smile onto her face and shrugged nonchalantly. "I'm fine. I've just been up the past three days scouring the internet while Sam called every contact in Dad's journal."
"For what?" Dean inquired.
"A way to help you," Sam answered in a kind of duh tone. "What else would I be calling for, Dean?"
Sam grabbed one of the papers off his bed and showed it to Dean. "One of Dad's friends, Joshua, actually called me back. He told me about a guy in Nebraska - a specialist."
"You didn't tell me about that," Delaney accused and glared at him. "Why'd you hide that?"
"Well, I was going to tell you before..." Sam trailed off when he saw the dark look in Delaney's eyes to not continue his train of thought. She had literally just begged him not to say anything in front of Dean. "Before Dean came stumbling in."
Dean didn't seem to notice the odd behavior between his two younger siblings because he merely sighed. "You two can't just let me die in peace?"
"We're not going to let you die, period," Delaney assured and clapped her hands together. "Guess we're going on a road trip, boys!"
