"It's not gonna hurt him is it?"
Meilani glanced up from where she the pet the whimpering dog that laid on the metal examination table. A man had brought his dog in because his dog had been acting a bit strange the past two days. He wasn't sure if he was sick or if the dog had eaten something he shouldn't have on one of their walks.
"Just a little, but I usually find that it's the owners..." Deaton trailed off with a small smile as the owner winced when Deaton injected the dog with the needle. "That feel the most pain. Alright, well, we'll just check the stool sample for parasites, but my guess is he probably just ate something he shouldn't have."
Meilani picked up the dog and gently placed him back on all four paws, continuing to pet him once he was on the ground. She noticed his bone dog tag that read BULLET. "He's got a cool name."
The owner squatted down in front of Bullet and Meilani, smiling when he noticed how well Bullet got along with Meilani. Meilani usually chalked up her new found bonding with dogs to be due to her werewolf side. They could probably smell it on her and saw her as another dog. "He's got two brothers at home named Beretta and Trigger. Military family."
Bullet rolled over onto his back with his paws in the air to allow Meilani to scratch his stomach while he whimpered softly, sounding content to be in Meilani's hold.
"Looks like he knows who the alpha is."
Meilani's head snapped up at that and she felt a momentary sense of panic rush through her. She could even hear Scott's sharp intake of breath from where he stood with Deaton near the stool sample they got from Bullet earlier. However, Meilani relaxed when the owner merely chuckled at his joke and allowed him to take back Bullet so they could leave.
Scott held up tweezers in his hand, a small white object between the two clamps. He furrowed his eyebrows, washing off the bit of dirt that caked to it with the squirt bottle Deaton had handed to him. "Deaton, what is it?"
Deaton took the tweezers from Scott and held it under the small lamp on the table the trio now stood around, twisting it this way and that. He seemed confused by the object he examined. "It's definitely poisonous. For the dog.... and Meilani."
"Is it wolfsbane?" Scott asked, tilting his head at the now apparent plant that Deaton held up. Wasn't wolfsbane usually purple?
"Mistletoe."
"You mean... like... stand under it with another person and you have to kiss them?" Meilani balked, making sure to keep her distance from the plant not knowing if she could even touch the thing without being affected by it. "It's not even Christmas time, Deaton. Where would he have even gotten that?"
Deaton shook his head and placed the tweezers back into the plate Scott used to examine the stool sample. "I don't know. Could have been on the ground somewhere in his house. He'll be okay now that it passed through him, though. Why don't you two clean up and then you can go home?"
Meilani nodded and walked into the other examination room to clean up while Scott took the one they used to check over Bullet. It was definitely odd that Bullet had ingested a plant that only was really used during Christmas time. A holiday that was still a few months away from then. Thankfully, there wasn't much to clean between the two examination rooms so her and Scott could leave soon. Maybe she could go to Stiles or Derek to see if they would know anything about this.
A dog whimpering outside snapped Meilani out of her plotting what to do about the current situation. She tossed down the rag she had been using to absentmindedly wipe down the medical tables before she stepped outside where it was pitch black out. The only light coming from inside the clinic, the moon and the small street lamp Deaton had installed so people could see where they walked in the parking lot if they came at night.
Down the alleyway, the dog's whimpering could still be heard and Bullet had bolted out of the shadows. He whined and scratched at Meilani's jean clad legs and Meilani bent down to pick him up, scratching behind his ears with her free hand to calm him down. His owner's car was still parked in the lot and he was nowhere to be found.
"Bullet, where's your owner, bud?" Meilani asked quietly, using her wolf senses to help her see in the darkened alleyway. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary and there was no sign of the owner anywhere in the vicinity. It was almost as if he had suddenly disappeared into smoke.
What the hell was going on in Beacon Hills?
⏤⏤⏤⏤❀⏤⏤⏤⏤
"I don't know, guys. I looked everywhere in that alleyway outside the clinic. It was like he just disappeared and left behind Bullet and his car."
Meilani leant against the locker between Scott and Stiles' in the locker room. They were about to do cross-country practice with Coach because he didn't want them to have no exercise while there was no lacrosse. Something that Meilani didn't mind because it kept her distracted and like she had at least some sense of normalcy outside of her werewolf side. Meilani had finished getting changed and joined her twin and boyfriend in the locker room to explain to them what happened the night prior. She was too lost in her own head the night before to really give Scott the basic rundown of what happened before she walked back in with Bullet.
"Okay, was he... like... could he have been a virgin maybe?" Stiles asked, throwing on his grey hoodie. "Did he look like a virgin? Was he, you know, virginal?"
"No, definitely not. Deaton makes me have sex with all of his clients, Stiles," Meilani remarked, shooting her boyfriend a look for his question. She knew why he was asking her if he was a virgin because it could have been like what happened to Heather. However, there was no way she'd know if the guy was one or not because she didn't just walk up to people asking if they had ever had sex before. "He thinks it'll bring in more business."
Stiles gave Meilani a deadpan expression, clearly unamused with his girlfriend's joke. He didn't even budge when Meilani leant up on her tip toes to give Stiles a kiss.
Meilani huffed as she fell back down to her heels and crossed her arms. "No, Stiles, I don't know if the guy was a virgin. Why are you even talking like he's already dead? He's just missing."
"Missing and presumed dead because he's probably a virgin, Meilani!" Stiles snapped, throwing his hands into the air. "The poor guy is dead because he never had sex."
Meilani opened her mouth to respond to Stiles, but was cut off by Isaac rushing into the locker room and Coach yelling at him for being late. He mumbled a quick apology and walked over to his locker to get ready for practice.
"I'll remind you all, cross-country is not optional for lacrosse players. I don't need you turning into a bunch of fat-asses in the off season," Coach reminded, freezing when he saw both Danny and Isaac take off their shirts to reveal their muscled stomachs and chests. "So.. work on that."
It wasn't long before Coach lead the lacrosse and cross-country teams out to the woods behind the school and made them run along the dirt trail that was reserved for the country-team to run along for practice. Scott took a pump from his inhaler to give him at least some air to propel him during the run, though he'd probably be stopping a few times along the run to use it. The boys had stood near the back with Meilani so they wouldn't get in the way of the faster runners.
Meilani watched as the twins she noticed a few days ago stood on either side of Isaac who tied his shoelace. They glanced over Isaac's head with a look that sent a cold shiver down her spine and she couldn't pinpoint why that was. Maybe it was just because they looked like they were gonna do something to Isaac who seemed distracted. Coach blew the whistle before the twin boys could do anything and they bolted off first.
Before Isaac could scramble to his feet, Meilani grabbed his shoulder before he could run off and she stumbled back at the freaked expression on his face. "It's them, Lans. It's them!"
"Wha- " Meilani cut off when Isaac took off after the rest of the team and she had to shake herself of the momentary pause. "Isaac, get back here! Isaac!" She huffed when he ignored her and bolted after him, not needing to worry about Scott and Stiles who had already began their run with the rest of the team.
It took Meilani a few minutes, but she eventually heard the twins and Isaac on the path that the team didn't take and she skid around the corner. There on the side of the trail was Isaac on his knees with the twins on either side of him, holding him down by his shoulders with the back of Isaac's head in the twin on the left's hand.
"Ethan, I always forget... how many bones in the human body?" The one of the left mocked, grinning over Isaac's head at his twin.
"I don't know, Aiden. Let's count."
Before either of them could move to snap any of Isaac's bones, Meilani bolted forward and punched Aiden in the face. She smirked as Ethan lost his grip on Isaac's shoulder and had stepped back with Ethan. "That's one."
Ethan and Aiden growled angrily at the duo and had changed to their werewolf forms in the blink of an eye. Isaac and Meilani were quick to follow them and prepared to leap at them should either twin attack first. However, before either party could make the first move, a girl's loud scream was heard not too far away and Isaac and Meilani rushed off to see what the problem was.
Breaking through the trees, Meilani froze in between Scott and Stiles with Isaac stood behind her. There on the tree in front of them was Bullet's owner from the night before, hung up on three. His chin was drooped onto his chest and his blood dripped out from both ears and his whole front was covered in his blood. The only thing keeping him to the tree was the rope tied around his neck, keeping him propped up and standing.
"It's him, isn't it?" Stiles asked, staring wide eyed at the new victim.
Meilani groaned and squeezed her eyes shut, throwing her head back. Could she ever catch a break?

It wasn't long before Noah and one of his deputies showed up to the crime scene, yelling for the students to vacate the area so they wouldn't ruin any of the evidence. Stiles had called his dad while Meilani inspected the body and realized the rope that held up the owner was Bullet's own collar. A collar that Meilani hadn't even realized he had been missing when she had brought Bullet back into the clinic.
"Dad, just come here," Stiles said, grabbing his father and bringing him over to the dead dog owner. "Look, look, look at it. It's the same as the others, you see?"
"Yeah, I see that. Do me a favor. Go back to school, yeah?" Noah instructed and turned to face Coach Finstock who was stood behind him. "Coach, can you give us a hand here?"
"You heard the man. Nothing to see here. Probably just some homeless kid," Coach yelled to the kids who still hadn't moved to leave the scene just yet.
"Coach," Isaac called from next to Meilani who was still lost in her own thoughts about everything that was going on. "He was a senior."
Coach ran a hand over his mouth as he deflated slightly at the mention of it being a student. "Oh, God. He wasn't on the team, was he?"
A blonde girl had rushed over to the scene and she instantly screamed, crying at the sight of the dead owner. "Kyle! Oh God, Kyle!" She went to run towards Kyle, but the deputy held her back before she could both get herself bloodied and ruin whatever evidence was left behind. Though, Meilani was sure that there was no evidence in the area.
Isaac tugged on Scott and Meilani's sleeves to follow him back towards the school with Stiles following behind them. He glanced over his shoulder at Ethan and Aiden who stared at Kyle's body like they weren't behind what happened. "You see the way the twins looked at Kyle?"
"Yeah, like they had no idea what happened?" Scott scoffed, shaking his head at the whole thing. "They definitely knew what happened and who did it."
"The kid was strangled with a garrote, okay? Am I the only one recognizing the lack of werewolfitude in these murders?" Stiles chimed in, gesturing behind him to the twins that still stood quietly discussing Kyle's dead body.
"Oh, you think it's a coincidence they turn up and then people start dying?" Isaac countered.
"Well, no, but I still don't think it's them."
"Lans, how 'bout you?"
Meilani snapped out of her thoughts, her mind whirring with a million different possibilities of what was going on. Ever since this pack of alphas showed up, there had been nothing but death and trouble in Beacon Hills. She ran a hand through her hair, trying to make sense of anything, but it was proving difficult at the moment. "I don't know yet."
Stiles raised his eyebrows at his girlfriend, crossing his arms across his chest. He definitely didn't like her answer and probably thought she was siding with Isaac on this one. "You don't know yet?"
"Well, Isaac's got a point," Meilani admitted sheepishly and slapped a hand to her side when Stiles stared at her incredulously. "Babe, human sacrifices?"
"Lani, your and Isaac's eyes turn into yellow glow sticks, okay? Hair literally grows from your beautiful face and then will immediately disappear, and if Scott or I were to stab you right now, it would just magically heal. You're telling me that you're having trouble grasping human sacrifices?"
"That's a good point, too," Meilani sighed, running her hands over her face frustratedly. Honestly, any scenario wasn't too far fetched because, at this rate, Meilani would believe it was aliens from outer space.
"I don't care. They killed that Kyle kid, they killed the girl that saved me. I'm gonna kill them, too," Isaac warned and turned on his heel to walk away from the trio.
"And to think this situation couldn't get any stickier."
⏤⏤⏤⏤❀⏤⏤⏤⏤
The school buzzed with what had happened at the early morning cross-country run and how Kyle had been found dead, tied to a random tree on the running trail. Even if Meilani wanted to escape it for a few hours until she could find Derek along with Isaac, she couldn't because kids talked constantly. It was around her from every angle and it didn't help that Scott and Stiles continued to try and find theories on it throughout the day.
Even Harris' voice could barely penetrate through Meilani's clouded head and the man's voice usually could cut through anything. That's how much he had bothered Meilani and she was even able to not focus on him and solely on Isaac who sat in front of her.
"They're here for a reason," Meilani whispered to Isaac, grateful she could stay in her slouched position since Isaac could hear her perfectly fine from where she was. "Can I have a chance to figure it out before you go out and kill them?"
Isaac simply ignored her and she could see his jaw tick at the mention of Ethan and Aiden. She could even hear how hard Isaac's heart pumped in his chest from the anger that coursed through him. This was going to be a long day.
"Danny..." Harris called, turning away from the chalkboard to face the boy in question. "What do we know about momentum?"
"It's the product of mass and velocity. The more massive something is, the faster it's going."
"Mr. Harris, can I use the bathroom, please?" Isaac questioned, his voice strained and his fist clenched on the table he sat at.
Mr. Harris gestured for Isaac to leave the room and his gaze snapped over to Meilani who went to get out of her seat, claiming she had to go to the bathroom as well. No way she could let Isaac go out there by himself when Ethan and Aiden were out there. "One at a time, McCall."
Meilani glanced to the door where she could still hear Isaac's heart beat on the other side. "Mr. Harris, I really need to go. Um... like... that time need to go."
"Ms. McCall, even if you were to suddenly release everything inside you and stain the stool as if you had stepped out of the movie Carrie, I would still say one at a time. Is that enough hyperbole for you, or would you like me to come up with something more vivid?"
Meilani sighed heavily and plopped down onto her stool again silently, chin in her hand. She could hear banging outside in the hall, along with two added heart beats that Meilani now knew as Ethan and Aiden's. Lord only knew what was going on and it wasn't until Mr. Harris and the rest of the class heard the ruckus that they ran out into the hall to see what was going on.
At Isaac's feet was one of the twins - Meilani wasn't sure which because they looked way too alike - bloodied and beaten. He cowered away from Isaac who glared down at him and the whole thing just seemed a bit too weird for Meilani.
"What is going on out here?" Mr. Harris demanded as Danny dropped down next to the twin to make sure he was okay.
"Uh, he just - he just came at me," the twin replied, wiping at his bloodied face and nose.
Meilani glanced from the bloodied and bruised twin over to Isaac with a calculating gaze. Isaac was definitely set up so he would get in trouble and get lunch detention. She didn't know what Ethan and Aiden were plotting, but she didn't like one second of it.
⏤⏤⏤⏤❀⏤⏤⏤⏤
The twins had officially begun to get under Meilani's skin. She noticed the twin that was clearly straight flirting with Lydia just before Isaac left to go to his lunch detention. It sucked because Meilani had just finished telling Isaac not to let Ethan nor Aiden get to him and here she was, letting them get to her just because they flirted with Lydia. They knew Lydia was close to them and probably wanted to try and get Isaac and Meilani from every angle. She wouldn't be surprised if they went after Scott or Stiles next to get to her.
Meilani didn't even go to the lunch room during lunch because she was too lost in her thoughts and Scott and Stiles had both went to talk to Kyle's girlfriend to see if he was a virgin or not. She paced around the halls, hoping that the boys would come find her soon or that she'd at least see Isaac somewhere in the halls. Someone needed to come and keep her company before she snapped and lost her control. She hadn't lost control in a while and she'd like to keep it that way, thank you very much. She wasn't Derek.
However, as Meilani turned down one of the hallways, she noticed a soda machine pushed up in front of the janitor's closet and Allison's screams could be heard on the other side along with Isaac's growls. Rushing over to the closet, Meilani pushed the machine out of the way and flung the door open to see Isaac corner Allison against the shelves at the back of the closet, transformed in his wolf side.
Meilani grabbed the back of Isaac's neck and flung him out of the closet and onto his back. She ran out of the closet, dropping down next to Isaac and wrapping her hand around his neck. Isaac continued to growl up at Meilani with his canines bared at her. "Isaac!" She ordered in a deep growl, causing him to instantly to relax and his human form to take back over.
Well... that was new.
Allison stepped out of the closet with her arm cradled to her chest and she seemed apprehensive about being near Isaac still. She shook off Meilani who had tried to inspect the two scratches on Allison's forearm that had obviously been from Isaac.
Isaac propped himself up against the wall behind him and he stared up at Allison guiltily, chest heaving as he slowly calmed himself down. "Allison, I'm sorry, I didn't - I didn't mean to do that. I'm so sorry."
"Meilani, it's not his fault."
Meilani frowned as she glanced down to Isaac who still seemed a bit shaken up from being trapped in the tiny closet. He had never been good in small spaces from the abuse he had gotten from his father where he would be locked in an ice box in the basement. She couldn't blame him for freaking out, especially with Derek still training Isaac to better control himself when he was angry or during the full moons. He was definitely a lot better now than when he first turned and Meilani was proud of Isaac for progressing the way he had.
"I know," Meilani whispered, knowing it was one of the twins' faults for putting him in that situation. They wanted Isaac to lose control and kill someone... or at least harm them. "I guess now we know that they want to do more than get you angry, Isaac. They want to get someone hurt."
Isaac hugged his knees to his chest and looked up at Meilani, his heart finally back to a normal pace for him. "Are we going to do something, Lans?"
"Yeah... I'm gonna get them angry. Really angry."
⏤⏤⏤⏤❀⏤⏤⏤⏤
If the twins were anything like Scott, they cared deeply about their motorbikes. Isaac had the idea of rigging one of their motorbikes and bringing it into the school to wave in their face. While Meilani went off to class, Isaac and Allison had ran outside to hot wire one of the bikes so Isaac could hop onto it and bring it inside since they both had a free period. Something that took less time than Meilani expected because as she stepped into the classroom, her phone dinged with a photo from Allison of Isaac on the bike.
"Okay, everyone. I know this is the last class of the day. To be honest, I want to get out of here, too," Miss Jen announced, walking into the classroom and heading over to the chalkboard to write down notes they would need for that class.
Meilani smirked and walked over to her desk that was next to one of the twins. She reached into her bag and pulled out the part that she had grabbed from the bike before she walked inside to go to class. The twins both stared at the part, their eyes going dark at the sight of the obviously important part to their bike. "Oof, looks like that's important." She pulled out another part and the twins both sat up in alarm at the sight of it, clearly that being another big part to making the bike run. "I honestly have no idea what these do. My twin is more of the bike person than I am."
The sound of a bike engine revving out in the hall alerted the twin in the brown leather jacket and he bolted out of his seat, charging towards the door of the classroom.
"No, Aiden. Don't!" Ethan yelled after his twin who ignored him.
Meilani rushed out of the room with the rest of the class and Miss Jen to see Aiden stood next to his bike in the middle of the hall that was around the corner to the classroom. Isaac was stood a few feet away with a smirk on his face that he hid behind his hand. The whole hall had filled with students and teachers that came out of their classrooms to see what was going on outside their rooms.
Miss Jen pushed her way through the crowd of students and gasped at the sight of Aiden near his bike. "You have got to be kidding me. You realize this is gonna result in a suspension."
Meilani snorted into her hand and exchanged amused gazes with Isaac and Allison who stood on either side of her. She lifted her head to look over at Aiden and Ethan, who had just walked over to his twin. The duo shifted their gazes from Miss Jen to the trio, dark gazes on their faces to show that they wouldn't be letting this go. Meilani merely raised her hand and wiggled her fingers mockingly at Ethan and Aiden. She felt a sense of success course through her as she heard the rapidly, angry beating hearts of the twins across from her. It was oddly satisfying to see them so worked up and angry over the bike.
Maybe this would be more fun than Meilani originally thought.

Once school ended for that day, Meilani couldn't find Scott or Stiles to give them the rundown of what happened. She had left the both of them three voicemails each and decided to just wait for one of them to call her back since she hadn't even seen them since they split up at lunch time. It was weird being away from the boys so long since they usually weren't ever apart for more than an hour at school.
"Lans, I wish I could have seen their faces," Isaac laughed as the duo walked through the empty halls of the school now that the school day was over. "They look seriously pissed?"
Aiden and Ethan had been taken away by Miss Jen to go to the principal and she just let the kids go from class after that. Isaac and Meilani had stuck around to see if they could hear what happened with the twins, but never saw them again after that. Plus, Meilani thought her brother and boyfriend were still in the school, which she now guessed they weren't.
"Yeah," Meilani laughed along with Isaac and froze in the middle of the hall when she noticed Aiden and Ethan at the other end of the hall, blocking off their exit to the outside. "Kind of like that..."
Aiden and Ethan had both removed their shirts and jackets, tossing them to the side. Meilani shared a confused look with Isaac next to her as Ethan had crouched down to the ground while Aiden grew out his claws, plunging them into Ethan's back. Ethan's bones snapped and cracked, his body arching as Aiden quite literally morphed with him. The two had formed one large alpha wolf that stood above Meilani and Isaac, his canines bared and a loud roar erupted from their throat.
Isaac tossed his backpack to the side and rolled up the sleeves of his white and black cardigan. "We can take him."
"Are you kidding? Isaac!" Meilani yelled and rushed off in the opposite direction of the large alpha, tugging Isaac after her.
The large alpha was definitely faster and stronger than the duo and he quickly caught up to them, grabbing them by the back of their necks and lifting them off the ground. He banged Isaac and Meilani's heads together before he threw them down the hall, Meilani's backpack flying off her back.
Meilani groaned as she pushed herself up to a sitting position along with Isaac next to her. The large alpha continued to roar at them as a clicking sound was heard from behind Meilani and Isaac. A blind man had come around the two overpowered wolves on the floor and walked over to the large alpha. The sound of bones crunching was heard as Aiden and Ethan separated and went back to their individual selves.
The blind man raised his walking stick, taking off the tip to reveal an arrow tip that he whipped across the cheeks of Aiden and Ethan. He covered the arrow tip back up and pushed through the middle of Aiden and Ethan, continuing down the hall with the twins eventually following after him.
"Who the hell is that?" Isaac breathed.
Meilani stared after the blind man and the twins as they disappeared around the corner. Her mind worked quickly and the puzzle pieces settled into place. There was a reason the twins had quickly subdued and separated from each other at the sight of the blind man. She had never seen the man before, but Derek had told her enough for Meilani to put two and two together on who the man that passed by was.
"Deucalion."
