Mercy walked along the dimly lit corridors, following the boy. She made him walk infront of her, not trusting him at all, and although she could sense that he found it annoying to have to check back to make sure she was still behind him, he did not complain once. He didn't even speak the entire time, and only gave a grunt of annoyance when Mercy tripped face first into his back after her heel caught on a jagged piece of stone. She got a good whiff of his scent then, and although he smelled like most other vampires she'd met, something about the scent seemed..delicious to her, like the smell of expensive cologne on a man. It was intoxicating and weird and she spoke nothing of it.
They walked for what seemed like hours to the tired girl, but what was really only twenty minuets, taking twists and turns down different dark hallways, passing many different vampires. Mercy tried to remember as best she could the way they came from Aro's office, incase she ever needed an escape, but it only got more confusing to remember the more she thought about it. The castle was cold, and she had lost her jacket in a small skirmish miles outside of the city, the same skirmish that gave her the gash on her arm.
They were after her in full force, the organization, she was sure that there was a 'kill on sight' target on her head. And in her opinion, all of it was worth it. The organization wasn't what it used to be in the old days, when Franklin was alive, and she wouldn't stand for it. The new director was going against every code they had as a body of people in their line of work, and people were going along with her. Whether they were in fear of their lives or actually believed what the woman spoke, Mercy did not know, but she certainly didn't believe a word of it. Helena Nathan was running what was once a good thing into the ground, and she didn't care one damn bit.
Mercy did her best to keep from shivering, but the fall cold was seeping in, and the adrenaline from earlier wearing off, she couldn't help it really. Her teeth had even started chattering at one point. "Do you think you could stop that?" Alec's voice was welcome in the silence, but deep and cold. Just like everything else in this godamn place.
Mercy simply glares at the back of his head, and she can see him visibly tense as if he knew what she was doing. She was tempted to pull a weapon, but knew that if she did she wouldn't win that fight, she was too wore out and out numbered. Not that that had ever been a problem before, but still, it wasn't good odds. "I'm sorry," She quips in a sarcastic tone, her eyes narrowing. "is my coldness bothering you?"
Alec smirked at her sarcasm, even though she couldn't see him. He decided he'd play along with it though, he was bored and she seemed fun. "Yes actually," He begins. "it's quite annoying, the sound of your teeth chattering." He wanted laugh as he could practically feel her eyes burning a hole through the back of his head, but he did nothing, he stayed standing straight up as he walked in front of her, they weren't far from his room by then.
"Well maybe if you stupid vampires turned on the damn heat my teeth wouldn't' be chattering." She mutters, knowing he would hear her. She could almost swear that she saw his shoulders move up and down in laughter.
"Well," He mutters back. "maybe if you weren't human you wouldn't be complaining about the cold." He wasn't aware the girl had even heard him until something hard nailed him quite expertly in the back of his head, he turned around quickly and caught whatever it was, her shoe. He would've been paralyzed if he were human with the force of the throw and where it had landed. There was something more than just human about this human, he realized. "Did you just throw your shoe at me?" He asks, amusement clearly lacing his tone as the right corner of his mouth turned up into a small smirk when he saw her clearly annoyed expression. She made it seem as if she had no idea what he was even talking about, even though he knew that it was her shoe. Her left foot was bare. He glanced down at the pale skin, and dark blue painted toenails with a raised eyebrow, holding up her shoe.
"I have no idea what you're talking about." She shrugged, moving around him, bumping his shoulder as she passed. "I'm sorry that my humanism annoys you your highness." She says plainly, walking ahead of him. Alec stares after her with a smirk and an eye roll, letting her make a wrong turn before speaking.
"Wrong way." He calls out, pulling her back by her arm and directing her in the right direction, turning down a different hallway before pulling her to a stop infront of a door.
Mercy's foot was freezing by that point, and she wanted her shoe back and out of his grimey vampire hands. She watched as he turned the knob on the older looking door and pushed it open before stepping back and holding his arm out, as if to say ladies first. The room was old fashioned. A four poster canopy bed sat against one wall, near the windows, although for what reason the creatures of the night would even need a bed for, she did not know. It had old timey drapes hanging off it, and an old velvet bed spread. It looked inviting and seemed to be calling to her. A leather couch sat not far from it, in front of a fire place and coffee table, she could tell that was where he spent most of his time when he wasn't running errands or on missions, and judging by the huge bookcase, he was a reader. She could respect that.
The room had a dark feel to it, with low hanging chandelier lights and the curtains drawn, the fire gave off most of the rooms light. It was beautiful in and odd sense, and kind of exactly what she would've expected from a volturi member.
There were two doors off towards the back of the room, which were obviously the bathroom and a closet.
"Why is there a bed? You don't sleep." She says, stepping fully into the room and looking over her shoulder as the door latches closed. She found it be kind of an useless waste of money in all honesty, but she wasn't complaining. She was simply curious.
"You sleep." He shrugs before pointing her towards the bathroom.
Mercy goes towards the door on the left and pulls it open, flicking on the light before stepping in. It was old, but modern, and she couldn't help but like it. The stone was set perfectly with the porcaline basin sink on the granite counter top, and the ancient claw footed tub didn't even look out of place, nor did the walk in shower hidden in the back of the room. It seemed to her like this was the room of a man who was lost in time, he could not forget the old days, but couldn't help but move on with every thing modern.
Mercy sighs before turning towards the sink, catching a glimpse of her self in the large mirror hanging above it, she looked gruesome. Dirt in her hair and on her pale skin, there were bruises starting to form faintly around her hair line, where she'd been struck with the butt of a pistol earlier in the day. She shrugged off her t-shirt, wincing slightly as her sore muscles ached at the action. She could see bruises forming along her stomach and ribs from when the fight, the skin tinted yellow along the edge of her bra, a sure sign that she'd been hit pretty much everywhere. She thought she'd felt a rib crack at some point, but nothing felt or looked out of place as she examined herself.
She kicked off her other shoe after unlacing it and kicked it off towards the door before undoing the button on her high waisted jeans and shimmying them down her hips and past her thighs before letting them drop around her ankles, leaving her in only her bra and panties. She stepped back to examine her whole body in the mirror, she looked a wreck, but she knew better than anyone that she could've walked way with worse and was happy to see that there were only bruises and the gash on her arm instead of broken bones and internal bleeding.
She looked around the cabinets for alcohol and gauze but came up empty handed. She did however find plenty of hair product in pretty much every drawer in the room, Alec seemed to take pride in his looks and hair. The door opened just as she was about to give up and in walked Alec, without his cloak tied around his neck, leaving him dressed in a black dress shirt and black pants, with matching black shoes. "Quite the range of color you've got there." She quips, hands on her hips as he stares at her. "What?"
"You're indecent." He says, averting his gaze like a gentleman. Mercy couldn't help but actually like that gesture. He was the first guy that had accidentally seen her in her underwear to actually look away respectfully and she admired that. Alec looked to the right above her head, staring at the corner of the room, and Mercy had the feeling that if he could've, he would've been blushing right now. She only raised an eyebrow at him, even though he couldnt' see, she was confident with her body and didn't mind if people stared and she didn't see why he was embarrassed about looking at her. "Put this on." He held out a dark gray fabric and she simply stared at it for a moment. "Please." He adds and she smirks before stepping towards him and taking the fabric from him, their hands brushed and a chill traveled down her spine, whether it was from the temperature of his skin or something else, like the strange shock she felt at the contact, she did not know. Once she slipped the t-shirt on over her head it was easy to tell that it was his, it smelled like him, what weirdly sweet yet intoxicating smell she'd gotten a whiff of earlier. It fell just about mid thigh on her and it was baggy.
"You can look now, Romeo, i'm decent." She says, trying to joke. Alec glances at her warily before motioning for her to hop onto the counter as he pulls a bunch of first aid things out from behind his back. She only raises an eyebrow at him. I think I can handle my own wound, thank you very much." She tries to grab for the alcohol and gauze but the vampire holds it out of her reach.
"I'd rather not have to come back in here and help when you inevitably ask for it when you struggle on your own." He states motioning towards the counter again. "So please, make my job easier and just appease me."
Mercy looks at him slightly offended, but does as he says, she was in no mood for a fight and wouldn't win at that moment anyway. Not in the state she was in. "I've been doing things like fixing knife wounds for years Vampire Boy, I think I can handle my self." She states as she pulls herself up onto the counter, swinging her legs as she does. "I find it rather insulting that you think I can't."
"Oh i'm sure you can." Alec says, stepping towards her with a wad of cotton balls and the bottle of alcohol and peroxide. He stepped between her legs without thinking about it, guiding her arm over the sink as he tipped the bottle over. "But i'd rather not get in trouble for disobeying my orders." Mercy lets out a yelp as the peroxide hits the open wound, hissing as it starts to sting. "Does that actually hurt?"
"No," She begins saracastically, "it feels like i'm rolling in a bed of sun flowers! Yes it hurts, you genius!" You groan, wincing as he dabs aggressively at it before pulling open a gauze package and placing it over the cut. He taped it to her arm and tapped it when he was done.
"All better." He smiles, glancing down at her, their faces were barely an inch apart, and he could see just how blue her eyes really were as she stared up at him with a raised eyebrow. He hadn't even realized that he'd been standing that close to her, and as he stared at her, a strange feeling rose up inside of him, and suddenly, he found his hand lifting as if to brush a piece of hair off her face, but he clears his throat and backs away before he does. "Right. There's pizza on the bed."
"You would make a horrible doctor." Mercy states before hopping off the counter and walking out of the room, there really was a pizza waiting and her stomach let out a loud unattractive growl, she hadn't eaten in days and the smell of the greasy food was mouth watering. Without so much as a second thought the female leaps onto the bed and opens the box, taking the first huge slice her hand grabs and taking a ginormous bite out of it. "God I love pizza.."
