She glanced around at the drunks, players, and gamblers. Her eyes landed on a rather pale man and a man with a rather large mustache at the faro table to the far left. She scoffed and turned away, heading toward the bar.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Do you have any rooms available? For at least a moon." She asked the bartender, who was bent over looking for something behind the counter. He stood up and faced her.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Yes. I'll show you and give you the keys after I ring you up." He sat down two shot glasses and turned to the register. Lina handed him the money and he retrieved a key from under the counter. "Follow me miss," he said as he strode off toward the stairs. Lina followed, carrying a small bag.

ย  ย  ย  ย  They arrived at room 17 and the Bartender unlocked the door for her. "Here we are... would you like me to get someone to carry up your trunk?" He asked, holding the door open for her.

ย  ย  ย  ย  "Yes, please! Thank you!" She replied, smiling. She stepped into the room and set the small bag onto the full-sized bed tucked into the corner of the room. A couple of men with red sashes tied around their waists brought the trunk up the stairs, dropping it in the corner and leaving without a word. Lina just shook her head and sat down on the small bed. She went over her to-do list in her head: she'd go and see what kind of stores there were, and go look in the outskirts and the woods for herbs. Yep, that's what she was going to do. She then got up, unpacked her trunk into the chest of drawers pushed up against one wall, and set her smaller bag on the desk, which was equipped with a pen and a bottle of ink.

ย  ย  ย  ย  ย She stalked down the stairs and glanced around the room once again, eyes settling on the pale stranger who was still sitting in the same place. His friends with the large mustache had seemingly left. She tore her eyes away and walked out of the saloon and into the streets. She spotted another man with a red sash. "I wonder what that means..." she thought aloud. She first stopped at the General store. She explored, taking a gander at the inventory and picking up some thyme and rosemary.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lina walked back into the street and made a beeline to the outskirts of town. She spotted the tree line and decided that that would be the best place to forage. She was hoping to come across some Devil's Powder Puffs and perhaps some mint.

ย  ย  ย  ย  She entered the saloon again, apron pockets filled with miscellaneous plants. This time the gambler who had to have been there for at least four hours, took notice of her, eyeing her curiously as she strode across the floor.

ย  ย  ย  ย  The gambler deduced that she was some type of Indian without looking up. They knew how to tread carefully and not make a noise when their feet hit the ground with well-calculated steps. He recognized that the gait was very similar to others he'd heard. His theory was confirmed when he looked up at her face. She walked with confidence, her calculated steps ringing through the saloon. Her face was stoic, wavy black hair pulled into a neat bun at the nape of her neck. Apron full of green things and odd-looking fungi, and fingernails caked with dirt. The gambler scoffed and went back to the game of faro at hand.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lina estimated that it was about nine o'clock. She washed her grubby hands in the small bathroom and changed into a shift. She was so tired, which was odd because she was normally a night owl. Perhaps going to bed early would remedy that.

ย  ย  ย  ย  Lina was woken up by viscous wet coughs that practically shook the room. She sat up and paused, listening to see if she would need to help. It had stopped. That unsettled her even more. She lit a match and ignited her lantern, stalking through her door and into the hall. The hacking was coming from the room to her right. Well, she hoped at least. She tried the doorknob and to her delight, it was unlocked. She looked around the rather lavish room and set her lantern down upon a desk. That's when she glanced down onto the floor.

ย  ย  ย  ย  There the gambler from earlier lay, blood dripping out of his mouth and onto the floor. The poor soul wasn't even into his sleeping clothes yet. Lina frowned and headed back to her room to fetch her small bag.
