I was completely shocked. I never thought I would ever meet my birth mother again.
'But tell me, how did you get here? ' he stepped closer to me and put his hand on my back. I felt warm again.
'I was in a fight and...' Suddenly, a great pain shot through my head. I fell to my knees.
'Hey, hey are you okay? You're not supposed to feel pain here.' he asked worriedly.
'I'm fine, just my medicine...' I reached into my pocket. And the plastic box was there. I took a pill out of it and took it. 'What's that? ' she suddenly reached for the box. 'Painkiller? ' she read the small text. I nodded. 'How long have you been taking it? '
'About a month and a half. Why? '
'A month and a half? ' her eyes widened. 'Any side effects? ' I don't know this kind.
"You can't trust it!" said the little voice in my head. Why can't I trust my own mother? I don't think she'd do anything against me... Suddenly a great pain ran through my body. I collapsed.
My mother jumped at me.
'Are you sure it's just painkillers? ' she looked at me and then at the bottle. I nodded, but she didn't seem to believe me. 'Did anything else happen at the match? Did they poison you? Did they give you something mind-altering or...'
"Yes, it was poison." the voice whispered.
'Yes, it was poison.' I said the same thing the voice told me.
'What kind? ' he raised an eyebrow.
'I don't know, they cut a wound on me and that's how it got into my system.' I replied, staring ahead of me. Again a great agony ran through my body. I cried out in pain.
'This must be something new then.' she inspected me. 'Did you faint afterwards? That must be how you got here.' she analysed what had happened. 'Then you must be in a waking coma in real life.'
'In a waking coma? '
'Yes. You can hear what other people are saying to you, but you can't respond to them.' she explained.
'I was just a doctor.' she smiled at me proudly.
'So am I. ' I smiled back wanly. Tears were welling up in his eyes.
'Really, sweetheart? ' he stroked my cheek, 'You must be very good! '
'I try to help everyone even if...'
'...there's the slightest hope.' she finished my sentence. 'I used to say that all the time.'
'Really? '
'Yes. Well, you've got to go back now, darling.' she wiped his eyes and helped me up. 'The others are waiting for you.' she patted my head. 'I love you! ' she hugged me. 'And this ring ' she suddenly pointed to the ring. 'You take care of this, you understand? ' she looked at me with all seriousness.
'Even at the cost of my life.' I said and hugged my mother one last time. 'Goodbye, mom! ' I waved and left.
I felt someone's touch on my hand. I dared not open my eyes.
'I should have known they were up to something like this...' I suddenly caught my breath ' I couldn't protect PD or PD's daughter.' he suddenly hit something. It was hard not to flinch in my fright. 'This is why I will never be a leader! That's why I don't want to be a leader! I can never protect anything! Never anything that's important to me...' he started to sniffle. Unwittingly, I opened my eyes.
'D...' I whispered softly.
