Daytime:

Shu and Valt were standing on the shore, watching the beautiful sea and the dolphins happily jumping in and out of the water.

It had been a while since they'd left Phantom's Gate after Valt's battle with Bel. Both of them were watching the horizon as small waves of the sea were lightly touching their shoes, periodically.

Valt: "So Shu, how's everything there in New York? Anything new happening?"

Shu: "Everything's been fine and pretty normal there, I'd say. And no...nothing new has happened recently."

The albino responded as he looked at his best friend from the corner of his eye who now put his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner as he thought of how he should keep the conversation going. Then it clicked the blunette.

"How's (Y/N)? The last time when I talked to her on the phone, she hung up only in a few minutes saying that she was in a hurry to prepare for exams."

At that, the crimson-eyed blader was slightly surprised. (Y/N) (L/N), was his girlfriend who'd moved with him to America so they could live together.

It had always been the (h/c) haired girl's dream to become a doctor (sorry if it's not your dream. You can change it to yours) and help millions of people by giving them the right medical facilities at an affordable price.

So to achieve this dream, she began preparing for the biggest medical exam held in New York. She chose to become a doctor there so she could live her dream while being with the love of her life.

The exam was scheduled roughly 15-20 days from today if Shu's memory served him right. He remembered how his girlfriend was always so stressed during the preparations and how her room was scattered with notes and papers of Biology, Physics and Chemistry everywhere.

She didn't even have the time to hug and cuddle with her boyfriend now. She was always buried deep in her books. But Shu didn't mind that much because he himself was busy with the work of the Bulls.

"hu- Shu! Hey! Earth to Shu! Are you there?"

The albino snapped out of his memory lane as he looked at the blunette who had his hand in front of his eyes and was staring at him with a concerned look on his face.

Valt: "Are you okay? What were you thinking about that made you zone out completely?"

Shu: "I'm fine Valt. It's just that I remembered (Y/N)'s exam is roughly some 15-20 days from today and-"

Before he could complete it, the wonder boy cut him off,

"What?! 15-20 days?! Shu this is the moment that you SHOULD BE with her instead of being here and doing beybattles. She must be so stressed out right now! You should go to her and see that she doesn't overwork herself before the exam!"

Valt emphasized the words 'Should be' and nearly yelled his sentences in his ear, making the albino squint his eyes shut as he backed away from him a little and said,

"Alright, alright. I know I should be with her right now. I'll be taking the next flight to New York and when I go back to the Bulls, I'll be sure to take care of her well."

The cheery Valtryek blader grinned as he gave Shu a thumbs-up before both legends fist-bumped each other.

While Shu is coming back to New York, let's see how our future doctor is holding up:
Reader's P.O.V.

"Notes! Notes! Where did I put them again?"

I said to myself as I rummaged through the mess of papers on the floor of my room. I need to do a quick revision of Inorganic Chemistry from a live video with my notes and book but I can't find them again!

I paused and took a deep breath. No.

Searching for my notes in a haphazard way like this isn't gonna help me. I should separate them all subject-wise in the order I find them.

I took another deep breath as I began separating every bundle properly. At last, I was finally able to get all of my notes as I rushed to my laptop to attend the class.

A short timeskip:

After a whole day of studying, when I finally got over with the revision marathons, I yawned as I got up and went to the kitchen to grab myself something to eat.

It was 1:30 a.m. already and I didn't really have the energy to make some full course meal. At times like these, I miss Shu so badly. He used to take care of my diet very well when I was busy studying.

I really love his cooking and the way he used to backhug me before I slowly fell asleep after my studies. And the way he used to- Wait what- What am I thinking?!

I blushed lightly when I realized I'd been picturing everything about him. But I can't help it! He's my boyfriend so it's natural for me to miss him! *(⁠ ⁠≧⁠Д⁠≦⁠)*

But...he's in Japan and not coming back anytime soon so...I better focus on finding something to eat.

After 20 minutes, I was sitting at the dining table with a plate of rice balls and pickles along with a cup of green tea.

I let out a soft sigh as I started eating quietly in the big house Shu and I lived in. After eating and washing the dishes, I went back to the bedroom and fell asleep.

The only thing I knew was that my exam was getting closer with each passing day. I had no idea what surprise I was gonna get a day later...

A day later:
Evening time in New York:

Shu had just stepped in the house with his suitcase. He wasn't surprised that (Y/N) didn't come to greet him.

Even if a robber broke into the house and pointed a gun at her head, she'd put it down and tell the robber to wait to rob her until her revision is done.

The albino sighed softly to himself as he used the guest room's bathroom to freshen up. After fixing all his stuff properly, Shu went into the study room where he'd expected the (h/c) haired girl to be.

His guess was indeed correct. There his girlfriend was, sitting on the chair with the table scattered with books and her notes on Science. Her laptop was in front of her, with an ongoing lecture that Shu assumed to be a revision.

(Y/N) was so engrossed in revising that she didn't notice the albino's presence until his arms had snaked around her from behind. The poor girl jumped and almost had a heart attack as she looked at the boy and asked surprised,

"What the he- SHU?!"

Before he had the time to react, (Y/N) pounced on him and both of them fell on the floor with the girl hugging the blader as if there was no tomorrow.

Shu only laughed as he patted her back and sat up straight while still hugging her as he said,

"Surprised to see me back? I couldn't bear the thought of you starving yourself just for the sake of an exam so I had to come back to make sure that you're eating a proper diet. And well, 40% is also because Valt scolded me to do so..."

The (e/c) eyed girl giggled softly as she pulled away from the hug and paused her lecture before kissing the tip of Shu's nose as he smiled at her.

"It's my dream, Shu. Just that one exam and I'll be qualified for a medical college and then I can finally get into the practice of doctors."

"Qualified to go to a medical college huh? Well, wouldn't that mean you'll get lots of guys around you?"

The red-eyed albino said as he raised his eyebrow and the girl just chuckled as she said,

"Seriously? Out of everything I said, you're only worried about me getting bothered by some random college guys? How jealous can you get? I won't leave you. You know that."

Shu pouted cutely as he hugged her and buried his face in the crook of her neck, making her blush lightly as he muttered against her skin,

"I'm not jealous. I'm just being protective of you like a good boyfriend should be. You're way too beautiful (n/n). Every guy in the college will want to date you and the girls would be envious of you. Then it'll be my duty to protect you from morons like them."

"Okay, okay. Enough with the cheesy lines. You're distracting me away from my lecture, (Shu's nickname that you use)."

The girl made a '-//////-' face as the crimson-eyed blader giggled softly before placing a soft kiss on her neck and pulling away.

"How long have you been studying today?"

Shu asked as (Y/N) froze for a moment, trying to think of a response that wouldn't lead him to scold her.

"..For....nearly the whole day...."

"Okay...Well, I'm assuming you also had your breakfast and lunch at the right time?"

The albino questioned as he crossed his arms and she chuckled nervously before answering,

"Umm....I....for..got?.."

"You...FORGOT?!"

He nearly yelled the last part as the girl squinted her eyes shut and Shu went to her table, putting her laptop off in sleep mode.

"Okay. This is where you take a break."

The albino said sternly as he held her hand and led her downstairs. (Y/N) was about to say something but stopped as she thought,

'I better do as he says right now or else he won't let me study later tonight.'

45 minutes later:

Shu fed (Y/N) a proper meal and made sure that she had a good fill. After that, before the (e/c) eyed girl could resume her studies, Shu warned her almost as if he were her mom,

"Doing revisions in the last few days is a good thing but your health is the top priority. If I find you attending late-night live revisions then you're gonna have your laptop and phone taken away."

On the day of the exam:

(Y/N) and Shu went to the exam center together with the (h/c) haired girl on a superfast revision express for the whole way.

As they reached the center, there were hundreds of students along with their family members and friends, revising their notes and receiving some last-minute tips.

The red-eyed albino also held his girlfriend's shoulders as he reassured her,

"Don't worry (n/n). You'll do great. Just remember to take a deep breath when you get the question paper, alright? Don't panic when you see the questions. Just stay calm at that time and write the answers with a calm and cool mind. If you'll panic, you'll start forgetting. Try not to get anxious either."

The girl who was now having sweat beads rolling down her cheeks, nodded nervously as Shu sighed softly before wiping her face and kissing her head.

He then leaned down to her ear and whispered something that made the girl's anxiety and tension nearly fade away completely,

"Remember (n/n), I believe in you. You need to believe in yourself too to achieve your goal."

The female took a deep breath as she looked at him with a calmer face than before. She nodded to him and placed a kiss on his cheek before going into the exam hall with the rest of the students as the bell went off.

The blader waved at the girl before she completely disappeared out of his sight. On the way to the hall, (Y/N) kept saying to herself in her mind,

'You can do this (Y/N). Shu believes in you and you do too. You got this.'

1½ months later:

After the exam, it was now time for the results. Today was the day when the results were to be announced.

And here (Y/N) and Shu were, in the living room of their house with the girl nervously pacing around in the room and the albino having his phone in his hand and watching her with a sweatdrop on his cheek.

"...If I don't get in the top 100, I'm never getting into the medical college of my choice..."

That was what the (h/c) haired girl had been mumbling to herself since Shu had reminded her about the result day.

The red-eyed albino sighed as he grabbed her wrist when she walked near him and pulled her into his lap, startling her.

"Listen here, (n/n). You said you wrote the exam with a calm mind and did your level best. Then what the hell are you getting so anxious about?"

"I know but...every student gets anxious when it's time for the results to come out...no matter how well they do the paper..."

She said timidly and looked down, fiddling with her boyfriend's coat. Shu sighed softly as his arm made its way around the female's body and made her lean against his chest as his other hand slowly stroked her hair and he said in a gentle tone,

"I get that. But you're being really anxious y'know. You might end up in a hospital if you worry this much, (n/n). Have faith in yourself. The results will be good."

"...Hmm..."

Just then, Shu's phone vibrated, signaling a new notification. The red-eyed blader took it out as the female still leaned on his chest with her eyes closed.

A wide smile formed on the albino's face as he read what the notification was about. He gently nudged (Y/N) and spoke,

"The results are out (n/n)."

The (e/c) eyes of the girl shot open as she quickly pulled away from him and was about to look at his phone screen but Shu put his gloved hand over her eyes.

"Wha- What are you doing? Let me see my result!"

The girl whined as he giggled softly before putting his head on top of hers and taking his hand off her eyes, so she could see the screen.

As soon as she did, tears formed in (Y/N)'s eyes and she placed a hand over her mouth and the albino was quick to kiss her head and comfort her.

"There, there...you should be happy right now (n/n)."

The result page showed the name of the person who'd got the 1st rank amongst the millions of students who'd appeared for the exam.

1st Rank- (Y/N) (L/N)
College: (Insert the name of the college you want)
Location: (Insert location of the college)

"I told you...you studied well. This is the fruit of the hard work you did."

Shu said as he patted the girl's shoulders whose eyes were welling up with tears of happiness.

(Y/N) nodded slowly as she clutched on his shirt and they stayed like that for a few minutes until the girl's phone rang and she spent the rest of the day thanking all of her friends and family members.

BONUS:

"I'M SO HAPPY! I'M SO HAPPY FOR YA (Y/N)!"

The excited wonder boy had been congratulating the (e/c) eyed girl non-stop since last 2½ hours.

Shu was sitting on the couch with an irritated look on his face as he'd been waiting for the girl to hang up the call so he could celebrate the girl's success.

"Thanks Valt...now if you don't mind...I got some work to-"

(Y/N) had been trying to hang up from the last 2½ hours as she watched her albino boyfriend glaring daggers at her phone with a nervous smile on her face.

"I'LL BE COMING TO NEW YORK TOMORROW TO CELEBRATE YOUR SUCCESS!"

He yelled so loud that even Shu heard him despite the phone not being on speaker. Before the girl could say anything, the blunette hung up the call and she looked at her phone with slightly wide eyes before looking at her boyfriend who didn't have a very pleased look on his face.

She gulped hard when his grip on her waist suddenly tightened as she gasped when he pulled her closer to himself,

"Oh no-"
