"W-what a-are y-you s-saying?" Shu's voice trembled in fear.

"Sir, Ms. (L/N) got hit by a speeding car when she was on the road. We've admitted her in the hospital but..."

The operator's voice on the other side trailed off.

"B-but what?" Shu panicked as he thought he was gonna get the worst news of his life.
"She's in a coma." The operator on the other side said.

"W-what?!" Shu's eyes widened as he dropped his phone on the floor.

"Sir?"

"Sir?"

The operator tried to call but Shu just stood there in complete shock. When his brain had finally processed everything he picked up his phone and exclaimed,

"I'm coming to the hospital right now!"

Then without giving the other person time to respond, he quickly hung up and rushed to the hospital as fast as possible.

Timeskip: At the hospital:
No one's P.O.V.

Shu entered the hospital and headed to the counter.

"Excuse me. Can you please tell me which room number (Y/N) (L/N) is in?" He asked the receptionist who looked at him with a questioning gaze.

"Of course. Are you Shu Kurenai?"

"Yes. That would be me.
"
"Oh, okay then. (Y/N) (L/N) is staying in room number xxx on the xᵗʰ floor."
"Okay, thank you."

Shu said and immediately went to that floor and to the (h/c) haired girl's hospital room.
He reached the room but stopped at the door.

Shu felt nervousness creep inside him as he found difficulty in mustering up the courage to open the door.

Taking a long and deep breath, he grabbed the doorknob and pushed it open, only to see his lovely girlfriend asleep on the bed with a white bandage wrapped around her head and a glucose drip attached to her left hand.

Shu felt like the whole world had just collapsed on him as he rushed to (Y/N)'s side and held her hand.

"Oh, (n/n)....I'm so sorry...this is all my fault..." He said as a few tears rolled down his cheeks.

As he began uttering countless apologies to her, the doctor came in the room.

"I'm sorry about what happened Mr. Kurenai..."

He said looking down and feeling guilty for not being able to save such a young patient from going in coma.

Shu wiped his tears with his sleeve and turned to the doctor,

"When will she wake up?"

"I'm not sure about that Mr. Kurenai. It could be hours, days, weeks, months or even years..."

Shu's heart broke hearing that.

"But..." The doctor continued as the albino hoped that he'll hear atleast some good news.

"You can help in speeding up her recovery by speaking to her while she's still asleep. In most cases, this method has proven effective and the patients wake up earlier than expected."

The doctor finished his explanation as Shu's eyes lit up in hope and he quickly nodded,

"Of course! I'll do anything that helps!"

Three months later:

And since that day, Shu has been visiting (Y/N) in the hospital and had been bringing her gifts.

When Fubuki came to know about what happened, he couldn't help but sympathize with his mentor.

Whenever Shu would be off to the hospital, he took it upon himself to teach the students in the albino's absence.

Sometimes, he would accompany him to the hospital and pay a visit to (Y/N) as she was like a big sister to the banana head boy.
It was yet another day with Fubuki managing the team and Shu at the hospital.

But today Shu decided to explain everything to (Y/N) even if she was in a deep sleep coma.

He went to her hospital room with a basket of her favourite chocolates and kept them on the counter beside her bed.

Then he sat down on the visitor's chair and held her hand as he began,

"(Y/N), I don't know whether you can hear me or not but..."

He sighed as he continued,

"What you saw three months ago...you misunderstood all of it...It wasn't what it looked like... actually...(R/G/N) used to be a fangirl of mine who was very annoying. She was jealous and wanted the two of us to break up. That's why she made this plan of kissing me and then sending you a picture of it. But it sort of backfired because you came in and saw everything. Before I could stop you, you ran away..."

"After you ran away, I yelled at her and she explained everything. I got so mad at her that I fired her from the team. Then I started to search for you. As I was searching, I received a phone call from the hospital. I was told that you had an accident....so....without giving it a second thought....I rushed here as fast as I could."

"Before I even got the chance to apologise to you for (R/G/N)'s mistake...you went in a coma...oh (n/n) please....if you can hear me...then please wake up...please...I promise to be a better boyfriend to you from now on...I promise to take time out for you always. Please...just come back to me..."

Shu finished as he didn't realise that tears were non stop rolling down his cheeks. He held (Y/N)'s hand a little more tighter with his shaking hands and kissed the back of her hand as he said one more time,

"Please, (n/n) come back to me. I promise to not let the same mistake repeat itself. Just please, give me a second chance."

He didn't notice that a doctor had just walked in the room.

"Mr. Kurenai." He called out.

"Yes?" Shu turned to face him.

"The visiting hours are over. Do you wish to leave or do you wish to stay for the night?"

Shu thought for a while then answered,

"I wish to stay."

The doctor nodded in response and left him and his sleeping girlfriend.

After he was gone, the albino took out his phone and called Fubuki and informed him.

"So, you want me to take care of the team for tonight?"

"Yes. I hope it wouldn't be too stressful for you."

"Oh! No. It's not stressful at all. I always like to help you out, Shu. And if (Y/N) wakes up then give her regards from me too."

"Yeah sure, I will. Good night."

"Good night."

Timeskip to midnight:
No one's P.O.V.

Shu was fast asleep by (Y/N)'s bedside, holding her hand. The window of the room was open and soft moonlight was pouring in, lighting up the room just enough to make everything visible.

Suddenly and slowly, the sleeping female shifted around a bit and opened her eyes,

"Uhm...hm...mhm..."

She slowly let her eyes adjust to the light as they had been opened after 3 months of being in the darkness.

"Where...am I?"

She mumbled and sat up slowly. Looking at her left, she saw her hand with a drip and glucose was going in her bloodstream.

She felt her right hand unusually warm so when she turned her head to see what it was, her eyes widened slightly as she saw her boyfriend sleeping soundly while holding her hand.

Then she remembered everything that happened.

"So, that means...I'm in a hospital?"

She mumbled to herself and started sobbing quietly.

Shu woke up to the sound of sobbing and when he looked up, he was shocked to see his girlfriend up.

"(Y-Y/N)?" He stammered as he pulled her in a gentle hug.

The (h/c) haired girl was also shocked as the albino asked,

"Are you okay? How do you feel now? Want me to call for the doctor?"

"I-I'm okay S-Shu. Don't worry."

She spoke softly as Shu let out a heavy sigh of relief. Then he realised that he had to explain everything.

He was about to start his explanation,

"Listen (n/n), what you saw back there-"

He was cut off as she placed a finger on his lips and smiled, making him confused.

"I know Shu. I heard everything you said when I was in coma. I'm sorry for misunderstanding you."

She said and hugged him tightly as Shu quickly hugged her back and closed his eyes.

"Please give me a second chance (n/n). I promise I won't disappoint you."

"Apology accepted Shu. And you've been given a second chance."

(Y/N) mumbled just loud enough for him to hear as he smiled and pulled her head back softly, kissing her forehead.

"I love you, Shu."

"I love you more, (n/n)."

Both of them smiled at each other before locking their lips in a gentle kiss and then lying down on the bed to cuddle and fall asleep in the warm embrace of themselves.

BONUS: A few weeks later:
No one's P.O.V.

(Y/N) was finally discharged from the hospital and received a hearty welcome from everyone back at the Raging Bulls.
Things also seemed to change between her and Shu's relationship.

"Come on, (Y/N). Let's go on a date."

Shu pleaded for the 37th time as the girl sighed and scratched her head.

"What about your work?"

"I'll do it later."

"No. Do it now."

"But-"
The girl sighed again.

"Fine. I'll help you finish it quickly. Then we can go out on a date. Happy now?"

Shu smiled and nodded as the duo headed to his office.

Guess (Y/N) can spend a lot more time with Shu than before. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
