Third Person's pov:
It was finally the next day and Ishika was getting ready to head to the cafรฉ. She was very nervous about the plan that they were going to execute, 'what if something went wrong? what if I get stuck there forever?! what will I do then?!' These were the thoughts circling around her mind since yesterday.
Would it be wrong to back out now? Well, the girls did promise her to treat her with her favourite food so she would do it and it won't be that bad, they just have to make sure that nothing goes wrong and come back before the coffee is cold. It's so simple. Ishika tried to console herself as she got ready.
She was a real treat to eyes, though she never accepted the fact but she was indeed very beautiful. She wore a light pink sundress which complemented her dusy skin and applied some kajal in her eyes. She was a big fan of makeup, whenever Kei and Kazu would come over for a sleepover, all if them would do each other's makeup and have fun.
Once she was ready she took her beige coloured handbag and walked out. On her way she could feel a few people staring. It was completely normal for her and she had grown used to it now. I mean- who wouldn't stare at the exotic beauty infront of them. The girl had medium length brown hair and honey brown eyes. Her skin was shimmering under the light sun rays, it was spotless and radiant. Anyone would want to be with her but Ishika was not interested in anyone, something in her always stopped her from getting in a relationship as if she was meant to be with someone else, someone she didn't know.
Ishika put on earbuds and walked towards the cafรฉ since it wasn't too far. As she was on her way someone suddenly grabbed her shoulder and pulled her. She got startled and looked at who it was, just to see her best friend, Aahan standing next to her while grinning ear to ear. Ishika let out a sigh in relief and then started hitting him with her purse "You scared the shit out of me you asshole!" she yelled at him and let out a frustrated huff. Aahan laughed it off and continued to grin "What can I say? Your reactions are too funny" Ishika glared at him, holding out her middle finger at him as she resumed her journey.
Aahan followed her suit and started strolling next to her. She gave him a weird look and asked "Why are you coming along?" which earned her another one of his beaming smiles "Did you think I won't find out about your secret experiment with the girls?" hearing his response Ishika physically facepalmed herself. How could she forget, he was Hirai's neighbor of course he would find out.
Aahan was a PIO, or in simple words he was just like Ishika, a person who had parents with Indian citizenship but they themselves were considered as Japanese citizens. Both of them had met during the end of senior year at high school and have been best of friends since then. Aahan, just like Ishika turned many heads. He was a well built young man, with a handsome face and pretty smile. Girls swooned at him all the time.
"Well now that you know, I would like to tell you that you can't change my mind" she sarcastically smiled receiving sweet laughter from the boy "I didn't say that I was going to stop you now, did I? I am simply accompanying you since this little devilish plan of yours caught my interest and I wanna see what would happen too" Ishika rolled her eyes and started walking ahead "Whatever dumbass just don't trouble me" she said with her back facing him as they kept walking, a small smile lingering on her tinted pink lips. Aahan cheered and continued following her, he started babbling about a middle-aged woman he mer the day before and how sweet and cool she was. Ishika didn't really mind though, she liked listening to his stories as they were always really funny and interesting.
After walking for another few minutes they had finally arrived to their destination. Both of them went down the stairs and entered the sweet little cafรฉ.
CLANG-DONG
Once they entered they greeted by the smell of coffee and baked goods. Kei, who was sitting behind the counter, got up and excitedly waved at them "You are finally here! We have been waiting for so long" she whined. Ishika checked her phone and looked at Kei with a deadpanned expression "It's only 9:30 am right now and the cafรฉ opens at nine which means you have been here just for half an hour" she spoke in a blank tone causing Kei to just blow raspberries at her. She shook her head and turned to Aahan "Can you believe she ten years older than us?" Aahan chuckled "Well I like her, she is cool" Ishika once again shook her head "Of course you would say that, I am sure you will be just like her in the next ten years. You'll have kids but you would still behave like one"
Hearing the commotion Kazu came out and greeted Ishika "Oh! You are here, good, now we just need to wait for Hirai and then we can begin"
CLANG-DONG
Aahan perked up and said "Speak of the devil! Hirai you'll live for a hundred more years. We were just talking about you" Hirai laughed and said "Yeah yeah, I am sorry for being late. My car wasn't working properly so I had to leave at the garage so it took me some time" everyone nodded in understanding as Kei clapped to catch everyone's attention "Now, now guys! Since everyone is finally here we should start"
Everyone agreed and looked towards where Ishika was standing just find her gone. Then they heard clanking of glasses, they turned around to see Ishika with glass of cold coffee, sipping casually and surfing through her phone. "Hey! You are not supposed drink cold coffee right now! You will be drinking a hot cup of coffee soon it's bad for your health" Kei scolded her and tried to take the glass away but when it came to coffee Ishika's reflexes outmatched everyone. She quickly got away and drank the remainder of the coffee "Never try and come between me and my coffee" she said in a dramatic way. Everyone just shook their heads at her behaviour.
"That's enough now, I am getting really impatient! I want to see how back in time we can go. That's what I am here for not watching you bicker" Aahan said and bonked Ishika on her head. Hirai, completely amused by what was going on just laughed and guided Ishika towards the time travelling chair "Sit down and don't waste more time. Kazu go and make her some coffee" she ordered them around while Kei kept grumbling about how it will make her sick.
Sounds of grinding coffee beans could be heard across the small cafรฉ as a long silence prevailed between the individuals inside. No one said anything, each one of them lost in their own thoughts. That was until young Ishika decided to break it "What if I get stuck in that timeline? What if I can't come back? What will happen then" her eyes looked down as she had finally decided to pour out her worries infront of everyone. The grinding stopped, as everyone looked at her with slightly wide eyes. This was the first time ever that Ishika had admitted that she was worried about something which involved herself, she was a carefree kind of girl, she would never let anyone know about things that were troubling her and acted as if she was fine.
Aahan walked next to her and took her face in his hands "Hey Ishi, look at me" she looked up and their eyes met, they stared at each as Aahan ruffled her hair "Don't worry so much about it okay? You will be completely fine and besides you already know all the rules so you know when to come back" he tried to calm her nerves which worked well. He always knew what to say to her, even when she would not tell him something was wrong, he always knew what se was feeling.
After Ishika calmed down, she nodded indicating that she was ready "The coffee is almost ready- wait how back is she going to travel? We didn't decide that" Kazu spoke making everyone realise their mistake. They started thinking and Hirai gave the first suggestion "What about World War II?" Ishika stared at her with an intention to kill "Are you sending me on a suicide mission or something?" Kei smacked Hirai and shushed her "What about during the times of some Indian rulers empire? You have always been interested in Indian history right?" Kei suggested to which Ishika nodded "Yeah that's a good idea" Aahan's eyes widened and he exclaimed "Oooh! Oooh! I know! You should go to the Dwaparyug! When Lord Krishna lived" while Kei, Hirai and Kazu looked at him with confusion, Ishika glared at him "There is no Lord Krishna, He's not real why don't you understand that" Ishika grumbled "What is he talking about?" Kazu asked when she rejoined them with a pot of hot black coffee and a cup in her hands. "He is talking about some imaginary God. He can't get the fact that God is not real, he's just a concept made by humans! Science is what is true." Ishika exclaimed as she stared at coffee infront of her.
There it was. The topic of Ishika and Aahan's fights. They did not fight very often but when they did it was on this topic only 'If God is real or not' you see, unlike Ishika, Aahan was a very religious person and just like his family members he believed that there is someone who governs everything happening.
"Ishi just listen to me, I don't want to fight about it right now. But come on! We will find out who is right. You should think about time travelling to that time and then if nothing happens I'll atleast know that I was wrong. Come on! Pleaseeeeeee!" Aahan almost begged her. Ishika sighed and thought about it "Fine I will do it but you will have to apologise to me for all the times you said that I was wrong" Aahan nodded immediately "Fine then let's do this unrealistic time travel!!" Ishika sarcastically said, took a deep breath and looked at the coffee mug "Just remember, you have to come back before the coffee gets cold" Kazu reminded in a serious tone as she started pouring the coffee.
Ishika nodded and started imagining the Yuga that she was told to travel to. She imagined how the place would look like, how the people would be and everything she could come up with after watching many serials about all this in her childhood.
She stared at the shimmering stream rising from the coffee that filled up the cup, everything around the table also began to curl up and become indistinguishable from swirling vapour. She started to panic as fear gripped her insides. Was it really happening? Was she really time travelling? No! This can't be true! As this anxiety engulfed her, she was taken by surprise yet again as she felt herself falling down.
Once she gather courage to open her eyes, she got up and looked around. It looked like she was in the middle of a forest, this can't be true.....no....it has to be a dream. She held her head in hands when she noticed something......where did the cup of coffee go? Her eyes widen as she looked around. Then she saw it. The coffee spilled on the ground and the cup that had now broken into pieces.
