Chapter 7. 🍰When Fate Reunites

"The most confused you will ever get is when you try to convince your heart and spirit of something your mind knows is a lie."

― Shannon L. Alder

You dragged yourself back to the kitchen after taking a brief nap in the TV lounge to prepare some instant spicy noodles. Your thoughts kept wandering to the charming Kim Seokjin because they were all over the place.

Your heart deceitfully fluttered once again upon seeing him once more in all his glorious beauty. You groan heavily as you wait for your meal to boil in front of the steel gas stove. When it was finished, you placed it in a small, round patterned bowl, grabbed some dark mahogany chopsticks, and slowly made your way back to the couch where you were cross-legged and enjoying a variety show.

Due to Emilia's intense movie addiction and the fact that you always let her make the decision, you enjoy watching culinary and baking shows on her Netflix account, and you always let her choose the movies for family movie nights. You decide to read baking books instead because you are too busy to do anything else, and nobody in the family is aware that you are working on a confectionary book of teatime treats. You intend to publish all the exquisite cupcakes that everyone in college admired.

But Seokjin is once more like a wrecking ball in your life, forcing his way into both your life and your mind and leaving you reeling. You pursed your lips tightly as you put your bowl down with meaning,as you looked at the tv screen in front of you, "Seokjin... I'm not going to let you control my whole being anymore... I'm done loving you...so done! Do you hear me!! "you practically scream at the television as if it represented the image of Seokjin.

Your eyes started to tear up again as you started to sniff, "Oh my gosh! Who am I kidding! Why, fate, why did you bring him back into my life. I'm I'm almost 27 years old. Why can't I just let go of him. Why him!" you lament inwardly. The pain of lost love returned like a ghost in the wind. Undetected, but the cold remained inside your innermost being. You went to countless therapy sessions to deal with the loss of your dad whom you are still not over as well as the pain to let go of the guy you loved.

Why are some girls cursed never to experience pure and true love? Isn't there a lid for every pot in this world? Why didn't you meet yours after the humiliation during his graduation? You knew he and Sung were a couple, but before he even met the gorgeous Chinese bully, you always thought that he will start developing feelings for you.

Whenever you and Emilia visited his dorm room, he would always be so attentive and somewhat caring. He and his friends would enjoy all the treats, you would play card games in their small lounge, watch movies, or even be allowed to study with them. You love spending time with him, even if he was a little distant, you could sense his eyes always softly on you.

When you sprain your ankle once, he carried you on his back to the hospital near his dorm. You loved him more every day. He never said anything to make you feel that he likes you too, but his actions spoke louder than bombs. He was always a gentleman, even if he didn't want you to help him with his laundry or help him carry his gym bag or even textbooks that were usually stacked up in his arms. Furthermore, he was caring and protective, and you loved being his cheerleader and his encourager...until he met his vindictive girlfriend who hated you from the start.

She hated you being in his friendship circle. She tried everything to sabotage your friendship with him, her friends bullied you relentlessly. Furthermore, she was hurling demeaning names at you, sabotaging your cake projects, and then you had to redo it in the early morning hours. Luckily, you had favor with the professors, and you had access to the senior's kitchens.

She made her friends hide your textbooks and notes during test seasons-anything to warn you to stay away from her man, Seokjin. They even locked you and Emilia up in the boiler room, after they send an anonymous text message telling you that Seokjin and his friends were stuck in the boiler room and needed your help.

You didn't think clearly but Seokjin was your world, and you'll do almost anything to help, you and Emilia run just to find out that it was a lie. And you had to sleep an entire cold winters night inside the dark and damp room. You had a cold for days after the Janitor found you the next morning.

What made her more vicious is when she found out that Seokjin bought you medicine and made you a special ginger and chicken soup. Why couldn't you love him for that?

You heard rumors that the couple had again a fight about him caring for you. Your heart broke in shards when you heard some of his classmates talk in an empty kitchen about Kung's obsession to keep the campus heartthrob away from you and how much discomfort and embarrassment he experienced with you everywhere. It never dawns on you that you were a nuisance to him until his girlfriend blatantly humiliated you in front of the whole student body.

As if it weren't enough, your dad died in a traffic accident in that same week. A double blow for your fragile heart. Learning that Seokjin hated your constant presence and wanted you out of his life, and the hit-and-run accident that killed your Dad instantly. You lost your anchor, your best friend, and a loving, supportive dad who told you that you could be anything in the world. The World's most talented baker.

You were crushed, and you didn't know what to do, you were so lost, and you became suddenly cold in your heart. That day, you promised yourself that it was high time to forget Seokjin and start distancing you from him. It was the most difficult week of your life to stay away from him, baking treats for him or just wave or encourage him with sweet words.

You couldn't do it anymore. You were not allowed to do it anymore. His girlfriend Kung and her friends gave you dead stares and you knew his relationship with Kung meant the world to him, and you had to stop interfering in his life.

You shook your head and inhaled deeply, trying to suppress all those depressing feelings. You jumped up, and you know that sitting the whole day and wallowing over your unrequited love return, you decided to just take a walk. It is still a nice summer day. You check your wristwatch, and you furrow your brows as you grab your light blue tote bag. Your hair was blowed dried in loose not brown glossy waves over your shoulders.

You didn't care about makeup, but just placed a dab of cherry gloss on your pouty lips. You were dressed in a royal blue knitted top, a dark navy skinny jeans that accentuated your well-toned legs with your black flats. Maybe you could just go out for a bit to clear your mind with the stimulating sights and sounds around you at the market.

You send your mom and Emily a group text on your chat group, telling them that you will be out for at least two hours exploring the street markets of Seoul. When you exit your big concrete house, you breathe in the fresh air. It was still early in the morning, and you enjoyed this time of day before noon. If you're hungry, you'll grab some interesting street snacks on your way.

You love your walk passed the leafy neighborhood. You reached the bus stop, and luckily you didn't wait long as there were only five passengers on the bus. Furthermore, you smile at the friendly bus driver as you scan your T-money card and strolled at the back. Again, you smile happily, reminiscing that this is practically one of the few times that you dared to just enjoy a day by yourself. You took out your cell phone and press your playlist to one of your favorite songs of Eric Nam. Hold me. It is so comforting to just basked in a good song. You closed your eyes as your head touched the window, indulging yourself in the comfort..

"Miss... Miss! Where is your stop? You've been sleeping for almost an hour! "The bus driver voice were frantic as he looked concerned at you from his mirror. Your eyes fluttered wide open as you looked around, disorientated and still somewhat dazed.

Where are you? Oh my gosh! You dozed in on the bus. Gosh, you were so tired. It was only you and a little granny on the bus. You quickly check your watch with furrowed brows. It was almost after twelve.

" Sorry sir, where are we now? "The bus came to a halt by an empty bus stop. You looked through the window, It seemed you are in downtown Seoul. But you don't know this area so well. The driver raised his eyes as he saw you abruptly jump up from the back seat, greeting the elder woman with a respectful bow.

You quickly grabbed your tote bag, hurriedly place your phone inside, and rush to the front of the bus, and stood, grabbing the pole in the front. You missed your stop almost twenty minutes ago.

" We are in one of Gangnam' wealthiest districts- . Just a bit south of the Han River. Where do you want to get off?" he asks with a frown on his wrinkled forehead. He didn't notice the cute girl at the back sleeping until all the passengers went off the bus at their desired stops.

This was his last stop for today before he exchanged shifts with another driver. The poor girl looked filled with distress.

"I wanted to go to Gyeongsang underground shopping center and I don't know this side of the city of ?" you looked around with a little dread in your voice. Gosh, why didn't you just take your car and drive to your destination? Why did you think it was such a good idea? You are deeper in a different, leafy neighborhood. Your eyes scan the area out of the big bus windows.

The buildings are high-rise, and it is one of the most expensive districts. Right now, you are near the Fashion District. A wealthy woman's dream. You saw Cartier retail shops, in one street there are a lot of high-end designer brand shops. You inhaled deeply, you might just as well get off now and just enjoy your time on this side of town. Furthermore, you can always get a private Uber taxi to get you back home. It's almost 46 min back home.

You smile, and the driver didn't even ask you to pay more. You and the old lady got off the bus and wave at the driver when the bus drove away. The older lady smiled and walked away in the opposite direction. You shrugged and with a lightened heart you strolled down the concrete sidewalks doing window shopping.

You saw a beautiful fashionable top in the window and smirked yourself. Why not buy yourself, Emilia, and your mom something cute? You smile widely at the friendly shop assistants, as they were of tremendous help. You got the clothing pieces, and you just fold the small gift bags and put them in your tote bag. Furthermore, you don't want your family to see you've indulged impulsively at a very expensive shop Vera Wang. But hey, you have a very healthy bank account.

Now you need a refreshing cup of coffee and maybe a dessert that will round off the day, and then you can call it a day and book a taxi home. You walked with a soft smile inside the Coffee Been and ordered a dessert and Café latte. After a relaxing time in the cool atmosphere of the shop, you found yourself again on your way doing window shopping. What a relaxing day you had.

The sky was suddenly a little chillier, and before you could gather your thoughts, a few drops fell on your bare shoulders. Shocked entered when you realized that you didn't bother to watch the weather forecast this morning, and you don't even have an umbrella. You looked around, and you saw a bus stop at the end of the road that can shield you from, It looked like there will be a heavy storm coming.

The next bus will be coming in half an hour. You quickly placed your tote bag on top of your head as it seems there were a sudden cloudburst. The heavy and ice-cold droplets penetrate your thin knitted top, and you felt the wetness on your jeans, even your flats were soaked. This is not good.

Really !" you yell as you sprint to the bus stop, some of the people bump against you as they open up their umbrellas and walk covered past you. You quickly took out your phone from your tote bag, rain drops falling harshly on your uncovered head as you wanted to check for a number for an Uber.

You felt the shivers on your skin as you saw the bus stop looked so far away and the shops are on the other side of the road, and you are walking past big company building grounds.

Just then you heard the sound of your name far away.

"Mayla! Mayla!---" that troubling voice again. What ghost is calling you? Are you losing your mind? It is like you hear the voice of the past echoing in your hearing.

"Mayla!"

You could only hear the rain drowning out the voice in your head.

Your hair was sticking to your face as you tried to decipher the familiar voice. You shook your head and keep on sprinting to the bus stop that seems so far away until a burly guy bumped into your tiny figure and made you drop your phone in a pool of rainwater. You stop dead in your tracks as you looked down on your phone with disbelief. What the heck!

"Nooo!---" You dropped down with deflation and pick up your phone that was laying innocently, drowning in a pool of water. Heavy raindrops are now falling on you, you just didn't care and you know you are already soaking wet by now. Oh my gosh! you couldn't even see through the rainwater on your face. The cold was seeping into your skin which made you start to cry in distress.

"Mayla!" you heard the voice again but you didn't turn around, tears mixed with the rainwater as you looked down at your phone that just drowned. You try to hit your phone with your palm, but it just died a tragic death. You couldn't even call your family and know you had to wait for a few minutes for a bus to come by. This day turned from a high to the lowest low.

"Mayla!" The annoying voice again. Only the devil knows you here in this city. He is out to tempt you to death!

"Puppy face!" you heard that old endearing name again. Shock runs up your spine as you finally recognize the voice. It is real. The smooth husky voice that you fell in love with...long ago. You don't know if is the shock or the cold that engulfs your body in shivers.

You wanted to scream because you wished wistfully that it was indeed only your overactive imagination when you heard your name, and as you turn around, your eyes widened.

Seokjin.

Oh, no! What the heck! Why is he everywhere so suddenly? You whined as you just wanted to ignore the figure that came running, briskly, up to you.

Oh, hell no! You don't need this right now. You turned abruptly around and started to sprint with all your might to the bus stop that seems only a few feet away. But before you reached your desired destination, a strong hand grabbed your soaked arm and pulled you tightly against his chest, sheltered from the storm. Your wet head brushed up against his warm, designer white, and beige checkered coat. Even his alluring and expensive cologne made your legs feel like jello.

You inhaled deeply as you slowly looked up with bated breath and locked eyes with the awed and amused expression of than Seokjin under a big dark umbrella.

" I found you again... Puppy face." a slight smirk grazed the corners of his mouth.

You closed your wary eyes and exhale his scent in deeply as you breathe out his name in a whisper, "S... Seokjin?"

A/n. After such a long wait, at last, an update. Puppy Face and Seokjin met again in Gangnam.
