"I'm heading out, thanks for your help. I'll see you tomorrow morning, sis." Kez pressed a kiss to Kallie's head before grabbing her purse and keys. "Okay. Goodnight." Kallie waved her off as she cleaned the kitchen. "If you have sex please sanitize the area after you're done! And please no sex on the couches!" Kez called out, the doors shutting before Kallie had a chance to yell at her. "She's the last one to scold me about sex as if she hadn't come home with body fluids on her shirt," Kallie mumbled to herself.
"Anything I can help you with?" Lewis questions, walking into the large kitchen.
"No, I'm almost done here." The singer pulled open the cabinet, reaching up to put the plates away but unfortunately, she couldn't reach it, and if she tried to there was a huge chance of the plates falling and breaking. Lewis quickly came behind her, his body pressed against hers as he took the plates and set them in the cabinet. "You know it's okay to ask for help," Lewis says, moving away and leaning against the kitchen island.
"I don't like asking for help. The last time I asked for help, he stuck his penis in my best friend." Kallie turned around with a blank stare before she returned to putting the food away.
"That why you're so...guarded?" He queried, watching her movements like she was numb to pain. The way she said it so casually told him she still hadn't really processed it. "Guarded? As in refusal to have my heart broken again? Cause if that's what you mean, then yeah." She shrugs carelessly, grabbing some paper towels as she wiped down the counters.
"Is that what you think I'm gonna do to you?" He questioned, tilting his head at her even though her back was turned. She stopped her movements for a second before returning to cleaning, very aggressively. "No. But it doesn't matter what I think. Men will be men. They'll chase you for a while until you finally give in. They will treat you like a queen in the first few months. Then they start to distance themselves, only showing you affection when they want something." Kallie paused her movements, turning to face him.
"Then you get engaged, even though you're clearly falling out of love but you say yes anyways because you're actually delusional enough to think that engagement can revive what you once were. And when it doesn't you have the audacity to be shocked. So you both pull away, one focuses on her career whilst the other one finds comfort with another warm body. Then, she loses the one good man in her life and seeks comfort in her partner. She asks for help, and he does the only thing a man is guaranteed to do. He cheats on her, carves her heart out of her chest so she no longer feels."
Kallie wipes her eyes in frustration, shaking her head. "And what does she get stuck with? She gets stuck with heartbreak and grief. But no, she can't break down because she has a family. She has to stay strong. She gets cursed with never-ending pain whilst he gets to live his life happier than ever. Cause why would God punish him, huh?" She chuckles, but there was no sign of amusement in it.
"Why me, Lewis? What'd I do?" She sniffles, wiping her face as she laughed.
"I don't know, Kal. Bad things happen to good people all the time. You were just one of those good people." Kallie chuckles, choking back sobs. Lewis sighed sadly, wrapping his arms around her frame, letting her cling onto his shirt finally letting the sobs out. "I would never ever hurt you, Kal. I'd do anything to prove that to you." He says, pressing a kiss to her head, brushing her hair down so didn't get messed up.
"I need you to cover for me tomorrow." Kallie pulled away, wiping her face. "What do you mean?" Lewis furrowed his brows in confusion, looking down at her as she tried to pull herself back together. She already felt guilty for just unloading all that onto him, even if his response was sweet. "I uh, I have to do something tomorrow. Kez absolutely cannot know or she's gonna be suspicious. Just say I went to visit a friend or something. Can you do that for me?"
"If I say yes, will you tell me where you're actually going?" He tilt his head at her, hoping she'd give him an answer but it was a long shot.
"No," she deadpanned.
"Worth a shot. I guess I can cover for you, as long as you don't take too long because she's scary." Lewis agreed, watching whilst she finished sanitizing the counter.
"I won't be long, maybe two hours, three at most," Kallie shrugs, walking down the hall as he followed her.
"Where am I sleeping?" He questioned, following her upstairs. "Uhh..." Kallie pursed her lips, trying to think of a bedroom he could use. But if she were being honest, most of them were taken up. Taylor had her own room. Keziyah had her own. The kids each had one. Merida had one. Kaylen had one. And her parents, or well, Kaikara had one. And obviously Kallie had her own. "Kallie, don't actually tell me that you have no guest rooms available in your very large mansion?" Lewis deadpanned, stopping at the top of the staircase.
"Okay. I won't tell you." Kallie smiled, getting a look of exasperation from him. "I'm sorry, it's just, Kez has her own, plus the kids, my mum, Taylor, Merida, Kaylen, our maid Lucia, and the only guest room we have right now is being used as a play room for the kids toys. And I would totally give you mine and sleep in my sister's but I'm not gonna lie...the amount of times she has had sex in there makes me uncomfortable thinking about it. Also, everyone sort of has a key to their room so the other's are locked. It's a privacy thing." Kallie rambled, walking down the hall towards her room, the driver right behind her.
"You'd think rich people wouldn't care but they definitely do. I'm rambling again, sorry." Kallie sighs, opening a storage closet and grabbing a large duvet and pillows. "Okay, you can take my bed. I will sleep on the couch. There's brand-new toothbrushes in the drawer and some cleans towels in the towel warmer." She rants, walking down the hall to get to her room, pushing open the large doors.
"How about we just...share?" Lewis pitched, leaning against the doorframe.
Kallie turned to him with wide eyes, clearly caught off guard by the idea. "A-as in..sleep in the same bed? Like...to-together?" She stuttered nervously, mentally yelling at herself for stumbling over her words like a girl with a teenage crush. She felt really pathetic right now. "Only if that's okay with you. I just wouldn't feel comfortable with you sleeping on the couch. And I'm sure you'd feel horrible if I took the couch. I mean, sharing a bed is really nothing cause we'll actually have our own space compared to the couch on your sister's jet." He said, walking over to her.
"Ja, I mean yeah, yes, my mum would be screaming at me if I let you do that." She chuckles nervously, letting him take the blanket and pillow from her arms.
"You don't have to correct your English with me, by the way. I think your language is beautiful." He adds, adjusting the covers on the bed. Now that, was a panty dropper. Her ex constantly made her correct herself. It was something that pissed Kezie off a lot, even cussing him out once because of it. Kez always got really defensive when it came to their accents and language, so she didn't like when Kallie would get treated like that.
"I-uh, I'm just gonna take a shower." Kallie mumbles, pulling some clothes out of the drawers and rushing into the large bathroom.
After her shower, she blow dried her hair, got changed into a pair of grey sweats and a crop top, obviously no bra because she wasn't insane. Kallie walked out of the bathroom, seeing Lewis had brought his suitcase into the room and was searching for some clean clothes. "I have some sweats you could use, they should be your size." She quickly pulled open one of the drawers, finding an extra pair of sweatpants, they belonged to her ex but she didn't have the effort to throw them out.
"Thanks, darling. Do you have a washer around here?" Lewis asked, taking the sweatpants from her hands gently. "Oh yeah, laundry room is downstairs two doors from the bathroom. We use no fragrance soap cause the kids got their dad's fragile skin. Hope that's okay for you." Kallie chuckles, rubbing the back of her neck awkwardly. "That's fine with me. I'll be right back." He says, gathering up his clothes and taking them downstairs to wash and dry for tomorrow.
Kallie sat in the bed, tying a silk bandana over her hair before laying down. Lewis came back from upstairs and went to the bathroom to take a shower. Kallie pulled her laptop onto her bed, putting the "Black Panther" movie on. The door opened the bathroom, Lewis walked out, only in a pair of sweatpants so his abs were glistening from the steam, and obviously she found herself staring. "You're staring, Kalliope." He mused, moving to lay on top of the blanket to respect her space.
"So what? You stare at me all the time." She scoffs, taking her eyes off the movie for a split second to admire his side profile close up.
"Is it a crime that I think you're gorgeous?" He smirked, winking at her. Kallie laughs lightly even though she was internally screaming. She really wished she could scream into that pillow right now. "No. But it should be a crime for us to look so good." She shrugs, laying her head back against the pillow as her eyes found the movie again, trying to ignore the butterflies in her stomach when she heard his incredibly sexy laugh.
"We'd look even better together," he smirks, looking down at her.
"Don't make me kick you out of my bed."
"You should be honored that I'm in your bed. Most girls would beg for this." He retorts in a cocky manner, laying back on the pillow. "How cute. But I don't beg. You got the wrong sister." She pats his hand with fake sympathy. He arched a brow at her, "the fact that you know that about your sister is a little concerning." He comments. "Yebo, yes. You're talking about the sister's who are very known for their sex songs. Get used to it." She pouts at him mockingly before her eyes move back to the movie.
"Speaking of, I'd be honored to be your inspo for one of those songs," he grinned up at her, only getting an eye roll in return.
"In your dreams, pretty boy."

When Lewis had to leave, because obviously he still had commitments to make, Kallie stayed behind and decided she'd only attend the race itself rather than the practices and qualifying. Kaylen took that a bit tough but he understood because she had a commitment to make for their sister. But luckily for him, Neela accompanied him on Kallie's behalf, and because she was the family's pr manager so she had to have a long talk with him about what he could and couldn't say. Recently he had been getting much more questions about his sisters.
"I like him. He's good for you. Baba was right about him." Kez spoke as she focused on the food on the stove in front of her.
"What do you mean? What does Baba have to do with this?" Kallie questions, taking the kimchi out of the fridge. "You didn't know? Baba loved Lewis. He loved having him around. Why you think he always invited him to dinner? He was convinced you two would get married. You could imagine his disappointment when you got engaged to Sean." She explains, grabbing a plate to place the salmon on.
"He was disappointed in me?" Kallie asked, her voice growing a bit sad.
"He was never disappointed in you, just your decisions. He didn't like the way you allowed yourself to be treated, none of us did. That's why he liked Lewis so much. You know not once did Lewis ever speak a bad word about you. Even though you kicked him off the track a few times, on purpose, he still spoke your name with respect. He never disrespected you. He even defended you. Of course you were too blind to see it. But the rest of us could see it." Kez smiled softly, setting the food on the plates.
"I guess I never really paid much attention to him." Kallie mumbled in realization, getting a knowing look from her sister. "I was just too scared to talk to him, I guess. He always made me nervous, sometimes even a little angry cause of the hold he didn't know he had on me." Kez smiled, glad her sister was finally seeing what was right in front of her the whole time. "Which is why I'm not understanding why you won't let him love you." She points out knowingly.
Kallie shrugs as she walked to the table. "It's complicated."
"How is it complicated, Kalliope? He loves you, and you clearly love him, you just won't allow it. Why? What's going on? Cause you can't keep making excuses that I'm gonna buy. Why won't you let yourself be happy?" Kez sat down at the table, looking at her sister in confusion. She just didn't understand why Kallie was being so difficult. It was obvious she had feelings for Lewis but was pushing them away. It was like she was scared of something.
"I told you it's complicated." Kallie mutters, grabbing her chopsticks to start eating.
Kez sighs, slamming her chopsticks down on the table in frustration. "What aren't you telling me, Kalliope? If this is about Sean cheating, I already know, it wasn't that big of a secret. You don't just drop your best friend right after you leave your fiancรฉ. I just don't see what this has to do with Lewis, cause you know he would never hurt you. That man has been in love with you for years just waiting for the opportunity for you to let him love you."
Kallie averted her eyes to the table, just shaking her head, reminding herself that Kez couldn't know. These excuses were only gonna last so long before the truth came out. "You're the last one to talk about letting someone love you. You and Taylor have been in love for years. You know she's unhappy with Joe and you just let it happen and string her along knowing full well that you have the power to make her happy. So don't lecture me about love when you have it standing right in front of you!"
Kallie stood up abruptly, taking her plate and heading upstairs. Kez sighed heavily, closing her eyes as she held back every urge in her to get up and run after her sister. It wasn't like she was wrong. She was definitely right. But it was much more complicated than it seemed. Kallie's outburst had her thinking. It was very out of character for her sister. Kez remembered being like that before, when she was on her treatments a few years back.
"Siri, call Dr. Grey."
