1 - late night stroll
CHAPTER 1
late night stroll
━━━━━━━━━━━
"Yo bring me some banana milk, would you? And some candy. You choose!"
Taehyung glances over his shoulder, his eyes catching Jungkook who's sitting in the couch, a controller between his hands, his eyes still glued to the screen. Taehyung chuckles lightly as he drapes his over-sized black denim jacket over his shoulders, before putting on his black mask in front of his mouth. He leads a hand to his hair and ruffles his blonde strands before putting on a black beanie that nearly reach down to his ears.
"I'll try to remember!" He yells back to the younger male, before grabbing the doorknob and head out the door.
The dark sky is upon him, the faint street lights accompanied by the glimmering stars from above. Closing the buttons in his denim jacket, he brings his hands inside the big pockets of it.
The wind is cold tonight, the crisp air making Taehyung's cheeks and nose redden quickly.
As he moves along the path in front of the dorms, he stops for a minute and raise his head, his head spilling back.
Gazing at the bright friends of the yellow moon and their patterns that seems fixed and yet ever-changing, they work as distant lights to accompany his trip to the nearest convenience store. Just gazing at the midnight blue canvass above steals every thought from his hectic mind, the usual haste of worries forgotten so easily. He suddenly feels like painting.
There is the heavenly stars above and the crescent moon to smile down at him; what else was there to know about?
"Taehyung! You can't just leave on your own! What on earth are you thinking?!"
Fuck.
Taehung sigh out loud, his head snapping back down as he look behind him, watching as the tall security guard walk to him in fast movements. Blinking a few times he stays silent before he keeps walking now that the panting plus one has reached his side.
"You can't just go out on your own. You know that." The male speaks with a stern voice, his features somehow unknown to Taehyung, who only glance at him swiftly before he locks his gaze ahead of the road, as they move along the pavement.
"Sure." Taehyung only says, his mind already annoyed at the company now that he finally had some time on his own. He needed some time alone.
━━━━
The bell to the GS25 convenience store dings as Taehyung walk in, making him unconsciously pull his black face mask all the way up, making his brown eyes the only thing visible. The security guy is waiting outside, finally letting Taehyung walk on his own, making him feel free for once — even if it's for a couple of minutes only.
They had been in a couple of stores by now, but the ice-cream that Taehyung wanted was sold out every where. And he was craving it. So the little comments from the security guy wanting them to head back home since it was late were simply ignored by Taehyung.
Who knew that me buying my favorite ice-cream on a freaking variety show would end up with me not being able to buy it again?
The store is almost empty as he moves along the cramped floors, moving his way down to the refrigerators, his eyes darting to watch the cashier once in a while.
He can feel his palms turning sweaty, knowing that he could be recognized by someone eventually. The thought alone made him anxious, wondering if he was wrong after all to go out.
Nevertheless his hand moves from his pocket and to the side, grabbing two banana milks before taking the last long steps before he's in front of the freezer — his eyes scanning the rows of ice-cream tubs, moving all the way down where he finally spots the familiar vanilla soft swerve goodness with strawberry syrup on top.
With his eyes crinkling up in amusement, he opens the freezer, feeling the cool air from the inside hit his lashes, making him blink fast.
About to turn around the bell dings another time, his ears peaking up as he hears a couple of girls talk loudly, their voices slurring a bit indicating that they were drunk.
Taehyung bites his lower lip and hold his posture, his back turned to the store as he breathe out a few times hearing the girls work their way to the refrigerators as well, the clinking of glass noticeable, confirming his theory on them being tipsy.
Relax.
Taking a deep breath Taehyung turns around, moving his way to the cashier who's sitting comfortably in a chair, scrolling on his phone. Noticing the sudden customer he slowly rise, taking a glance at the masked male in front of him.
"Good evening. Anything else?" The young man asks, his eyes squinting a little as the customer looks slightly familiar to him.
"Nothing else. Thank you." Taehyung says, his voice trembling slightly as he drops the 10.000 won bill on the desk, grabbing the three things and put them inside the given plastic bag quickly. He turns around fast, his feet eager to leave the store by now as more people move inside, making him feel like he's going to be recognized no matter what, hearing how his heart is pounding fast against his chest.
"Hey! You forgot your change!" The cashier yells after him, but Taehyung only lift his hand letting him know that he knows.
"Just keep them!" He says, his back turned as he finally opens the door and move his way out in the breezy darkness once again — his security company sitting on the concrete stairs to the shop, sending Taehyung a tired glare as he sees him.
Taehyung clench his jaw and start walking, noticing how the male trails after him slowly.
Moving his way back home the sudden sound of a familiar song reach his ears, making him turn his head in the direction of the tunes.
A little further ahead a small group is gathered in a small circle, their eyes glued to something.
Taehyung rolls his lips together, finally recognizing the song. It's the artist Aminé with the song Red Mercedes. An unusual street song here in Seoul, since the only songs being used for street performances is k-pop songs mostly.
The heavy bass attracts him and before he knows it, he's moving his way to the small crowd. He doesn't notice the security guard behind him shaking his head in exasperation, rolling his eyes at him.
As Taehyung moves closer, he notices that not a single soul is watching him — their eyes are focused on the performance, which makes his shoulders fall down, the tensed feeling inside of him fading away slowly.
He moves his gaze to the performance, finally seeing the sudden attraction on this late night stroll in Seoul.
A young woman is dancing inside of the small circle, a small speaker by her side.
A pastel yellow cap is capturing her dark, long hair that's tied into a low, loose bun — it looks like she made it super fast, a few curly strands falling from it as she moves along to the beat. She's wearing a pair of loose, black trousers and a plain white over-sized t-shirt. Her nails are painted with a dark color, which almost looks black to Taehyung. Her fingers filled with feminine golden rings, a golden loose bracelet on her wrist. Her makeup is so natural, her dark brows framing her eyes — while her plump lips has a natural shine to them.
It actually don't seem like she made an effort to look good, but that is exactly what makes her appearance so unique.
She's not trying hard, but her moves and choice of dancing is making Taehyung keep his gaze locked on her through the entire song, watching how her body moves effortlessly to the heavy beat. It's easy to tell right away that the girl has danced for years. Her eyes are shining with passion, her moves so on point that it's obvious that this isn't her first time performing in the street.
The crowd is cheering for her a lot, making her shine even more — if that's even possible.
Taehyung smiles as he watches her, his body suddenly not feeling cold anymore in the brisk weather.
This girl is absolutely gorgeous.
Her appearance and dance makes more people join the crowd and a subtle touch on Taehyungs shoulder from the security guard makes him realize that a lot of people are surrounding him by now — he shakes his head a little, surprised at how this girl made him so captivated by her performance.
He nods at his companion, moving his head low before he catches a last glance at the girl with the pastel cap, as she smiles brightly to the audience.
Taehyung smiles once again, his eyes crinkling up — feeling his chest more light than before, he turns around and walk away from the gathering, moving his way into the dark night once more.
Wondering if he will be able to see her again.
