Flashback

All the members of the team and the staff had gathered together after the practice to discuss the strategies for the upcoming Australia tour. All the players were staying together at the hotel as they would leave together tomorrow for the airport. I was also supposed to stay with them but I had requested to let me stay at home only for this series. It was always a thrilling match whenever they were to compete against Australia. Not to forget they needed to be prepared to control the sledging of the australian players, small banters that occurred on the field. The meeting continued for about an half an hour where all the players gave their inputs.

"That's it boys for today, let's just enjoy what we play and give our best. Now we will meet directly at the breakfast table tomorrow morning and get some rest." I was going along with them of course as the ICT manager, it had been quite tiring lately. The constant shoots and practice and even preparing their routine for Australia was difficult. To top it off I was still Virat's manager too, so I had to see that he was free for the press conferences and the timings didn't clash with the practice. All the boys were now scattered in the room discussing cricket, I spotted Rohit calling me as he stood in one corner with Virat and Jasprit. I went towards the small group and as I reached there I could see Virat glaring at Rohit while Jasprit stood there confused. The atmosphere was kind of awkward as none of us spoke.

"Hey!" I finally broke the eerie silence even though the room was an utter chaos with people chattering all around.

"Hi. Actually we were just discussing the Australia sched. We wanted to say that just keep a little time for coffee and fresh air please." Rohit finally spoke. "Oh don't worry, everything is under control, there are just some shoots that would be shot there with the Australian team and then you would have your practice. Some of the players would be having press conferences, nothing else. You all would have free time." I briefed them while the three of them nodded.

"Umm, Virat, you have a press conference today." I informed him and got a slight nod in return.

"Do you know the timings?" I asked him a little irritated by his ignorant behaviour. What's wrong with this boy!

"Nope, can you just text me everything, I would be there on time. I need to leave, have some work." he said and moved to leave. WOW! What was that? I looked at the other two boys who just looked as clueless as me, I just shrugged it off thinking that he would be tired due to the heavy practice session that they just had. I took out my phone and texted him the details.

"Okay then I will also leave. Meet you all tomorrow!" I told the two men with whom I was standing. "Yupp! Bye di." Jassi said as he side hugged me and the same actions were copied by Rohit. I smiled and left after bidding a goodbye to everyone present.

Oh god! I need to leave quickly, damn I am late. I quickly dashed to the washroom and had a quick shower before getting ready to leave. Thankfully I had kept the clothes ready yesterday night, I wore a cute white top with black stripes and black pants. I applied a little makeup, keeping the look as natural as possible, as I was sure the airport would be surrounded with paparazzi to see the team leaving.

I would directly meet them at the airport. I rushed towards the living room when I saw a mug on the dining table with a note beside it saying, "Stop making so much noise di! You aren't getting late anymore, here is your coffee, drink it and leave. Also take care, don't stress yourself and love you. Finally I get freedom for a month!" This boy, I am going to miss him like hell and I know even he is going to whatever he says. I quickly had my coffee and moved out,not before shouting take care and love you to my idiot brother who I know was awake in his room.

A cab was already waiting for me, which was organised by the management. I reached the airport on time as I saw the media surrounding the place which were handled by the airport authorities. The team bus was also here and the players were getting down. As soon as I stepped down from the cab, the media people rushed towards me asking me questions.

"Are you and Virat dating?"

"Why are you travelling with the team?"

And all such assumptions and questions! I tried to make my way out but found it difficult, even the authorities were helpless as they didn't know about me arriving alone. Stupid me! I should have notified someone, I tried to move ahead when suddenly a hand was on my back. Firstly I was scared but later relieved as I saw it was Virat who was helping me and also adding fire to the relationship news, not that I care about it, but then too. We finally made our way out and reached near the entrance, the team were near the entrance either talking among themselves or on their phones .As soon as we reached near the team, Virat quickly moved ahead and did not give me a chance to strike a conversation with him or even say a small thank you. Weird. I need to have a chat with him asap as this is seriously not the Virat I know, he's busy ignoring me. I had an hour before we boarded the flight as we were done with our security check and everything, we were sitting in a private lounge.

I was sitting with Ritika having a light conversation with her when I saw Virat moving away, and that was the right time for me to have a conversation with him. I was hating this ignorance game that he was playing, I excused myself and moved behind him. I tapped his shoulder as he stood there doing something on his phone. He turned around and was shocked to see me there. I didn't give him time to think and just took his hand and pulled him to a corner to a sofa.

"What are you doing?" he asked.

"I am fed up with this game that you are playing. Stop it please, just tell me if you don't want to talk. I won't disturb you, tell me whatever problem you have." I exclaimed while he just sat there looking at my face. "Say something Virat!"

"I am not ignoring you. It's all in your head, now get up before someone sees us." he said as he tried to get up. Keyword being 'tried' as I pulled him down as said, "No one is going to see us here, Virat. Can you please stop this"

"So what do I do! You only tell me, people out there are judging you because of me, calling you all kinds of names, questioning your hard work! All because of just me! The only option I found was to distance myself from you even though it is difficult. And now when I am doing that, you have a problem! What should I do?" He vented out everything. I was shocked as I never considered this to be the reason.

"I don't feel that what we share is only friendship but I also don't know what it is, I don't want to name it this soon Nushkie. This is quite abrupt and shocking I know but I just know that I can never stop talking with you, I have understood that in just a day." he said everything calmly while I just sat there in shock from his sudden mini confession.

"Say something please!" he said as I didn't reply even after two minutes. I know that even I couldn't handle his ignorance, even if it was just for a day, it bothered me to no end. There were some sparks but wasn't it too soon? Just a month since we have known each other and here we are confessing that we both share something more than friendship. I was scared and I don't know why. He sat there with expectant eyes looking at me expecting an answer. I made up my mind just by seeing those eyes which held nothing but warmth.

"Virat, I will be honest with you, I have experienced a lot in just one day, too many emotions and I am not sure why. I also don't know what this is, but what I am sure about is that I never want to lose this friendship as it is too precious. I never expected to hear this when I came behind you but I guess it's inevitable, so let's take it slow and first know each other before we jump into anything." I replied to him and he instantly had a warm smile on his face.

Finally here with an 1.5k words update but still I am not satisfied with the result! I may edit it soon if I don't get a good response.
I hope you all like the update, there's no point asking which is your favourite part as I am sure people will say the ending scene.
