"THAT'S WHAT, A THREE-STORY FALL TO THE DECK?"

Tatum Quinn looked up to face John B, who was balancing on one foot at the edge of the roof. As always, Pope Heyward was being the responsible one of the group and trying to convince him to get down. It was the perfect way to start off the summer - drinking beer, fucking up the scaffolding of the fancy new estate, and accidental scuicide. She grinned and rested her head on JJ Maybank's shoulder, as the two of them watched the scene play out while having a drinking contest. If there was anyone in the world Tatum could relate to, it was him. He was basically a less extreme, male version of her, and had always been more of a brother to her than any of her three biological ones ever were or could be.

"I'll pay you to jump!" she called out at John B with a laugh, spilling beer off the scaffold she was sitting on.

Pope rolled his eyes as he was splashed with the smelling substance he refused to taste. "I give him about a one-in-three chance of survival."

"Hmm." John B sucked his finger and lifted it in the air, pretending to calculate the wind and think about it. He turned his head around to face his three friends. "Should I do it?"

"Fuck yeah," said Tatum with a grin. She knew he wouldn't actually do it, but it was still fun to think about. Plus, she could always push him off if it came to it.

"Yeah, you should jump," said Pope sarcastically. He pointed a nail gun at his idiotic friend.ย  "I'll shoot you on the way down."

"You'll shoot me?" asked John B, pretending to shoot Pope with a finger gun. "Pew."

Tatum grinned and lifted her head off JJ's shoulder. She was wearing that same thick, white coat over nothing but her light blue bikini. It was summer, but still, nobody questioned it. It was Tatum. She never took off that white puffer coat. Sometimes the boys were convinced it was glued to her. All three of their eyes widened as she pulled out a shiny pink pistol. She pointed it at John B. "You just killed my best man."

They knew she was joking, but John B flinched as it was directed at him. She was a Quinn, after all. Whether he considered her a sister or not, he still had to watch out for her. She was batshit crazy; it was in her genes.

"They're gonna have Japanese toilets with towel warmers."

Tatum's eyes went wide at the sound of Kiara Carrera. In a quick panic, she threw the gun back into her pocket. JJ snickered at her instant fear of Kie. Nobody knew why Tatum didn't like to be told off by the girl. If it were anyone else shouting at her, she really would shoot them. But not Kiara. Never Kiara. Kiara could call her the worst things in the world, and Tatum would still worship her like a goddess. She never wanted to disappoint her, but somehow, she always did. It was in her blood. She was a Quinn - made for violence and destruction, incapable of love and peace.

"Of course they are," said JJ with a shrug. "Why wouldn't they?"

"This used to be a turtle habitat, but who cares about the turtles, I guess," Kie ranted.

"I do," said Tatum quickly, causing JJ to snicker.

"Really?" asked Kiara, turning to face her with a hand on her hip. "Because I'm pretty sure you and your brother bombed a boat last week."

"Which one?" asked Tatum, not taking the hint that Kiara was mad at her for it. "I did that twice last week. Thomas or Joe? It can't have been Leroy, he's in prison right now."

Kie rolled her eyes. "No respect," she muttered, causing Tatum to frown.

"I can't have cold towels," commented JJ in disbelief as if he were a kook.

Kiara ignored him and looked up at John B, who was still at the edge of the roof. "Can you please not kill yourself?"

"Don't spill that beer," JJ warned him, slinging his arm around Tatum, who had already cheered up from Kiara's remark. She was really quick at getting over things and picking herself back up. "We're not giving you another one."

The moment he said it, John B got cocky. He went back to balancing on one leg, faltered a little and dropped the can of beer.

Tatum laughed. "Of course you did," said JJ. "Like, right when I..."

"Smooth," commented Kie with a smirk.

"A-plus," said Pope.

"Dumbass," snickered Tatum, sarcastically clapping her hands. She jumped down from the high piece if scaffold she was sitting on, to join Kiara on the actual building. "You're helping clean out the beach tomorrow, right? Need any help?"

Kiara smiled at her. Genuinely. Tatum's heart melted. "Only if you promise not to kill anyone," she said.

"Well, that depends on the person."

"Hey, uh, security's here," said Pope, cutting their conversion short. "Let's wrap it up."

Tatum grinned. "Finally," she said. This was where shit gets good. The run, the adrenaline, the laughs - she loved it all.

"Boys are early today," said John B.

"Humpty Dumpty, let's roll," said JJ, feeling the same excitement over the police chase as Tatum was.

"Let's go, boys."

"Shit, Gary, is that you?" asked Tatum, leaning against the railing, sending the cop a wave. "It's me!"

"Gary, good to see you, man," said JJ, jumping down from the scaffold, joining Tatum as she teased the familiar cop.

"Is it time?" asked Pope inpatiently, terrified of getting into trouble. Sometimes he questioned why he was friends with these people.

"Yeah, you're just asking for it," commented Kie with a grin towards JJ and Tatum.

"Quinn! JJ!" the man shouted at the two.

The group of five giggled and whooped as they ran through the house. Downstairs, Gary was waiting for them. Tatum laughed and pulled Kie with her as she sprinted away, adrenaline pumping through her veins.

"Get 'em! They're comin' your way!"

But that only made the teenagers more excited. It was the thrill of being a pouge. You can't do much, so illegal activities are all they have.

One of the cops caught Kiara's jacket. Tatum pulled out her gun and shot it in the air. "Go, go, go!" she shouted at Kie with a giggle, not phased at all by the loud gunshot.

"I'm gonna kill you," warned Kiara, but jumped over the fence anyway.

"Well, it's been fun, but I can't miss out on my ride," said Tatum to the cop that had hold of her. She elbowed him in the face, and took her chance to jump the fence.

"Come here, you little pricks!"

The five teenagers laughed and jumped into the van, Gary the policeman still chasing after them.

"Check out Garry, gunnin' for a raise," laughed JJ, pointing outside of the open door. "Come on, Gary!"

"Hey! You little picks!"

Tatum giggled and swung her head outside, feeling the weight of the wind pushing her back. "Hey, Gazza, how's the divorce goin'? My dad is super sorry for stealing your girl! But, hey, there's gonna be another Quinn to chase, huh?" Her face faltered in false sympathy. "Right, you didn't know about that yet. Sorry, big dude."

John B and JJ laughed while Pope and Kiara rolled their eyes, genuinely feeling sorry for the man they were teasing.

"Slow down, slow down, slow down," said JJ with a laugh, trying to let Gary to give Garry hope at catching them.

"Hey!"

Tatum exploded in laughter as they sped up the second the man could reach them.

"You're gonna give him a heart attack," complained Kie, causing Tatum to sit down and shut up immediately.

However, JJ was still having his fun. Leaning outside the van, and shouting encouragement at Gary, he threw a beer can. "They don't pay you enough, bro."

It took all she had in her for Tatum to not giggle and join in. Kiara could see the girl holding in her breath and rolled her eyes. She sighed. "Just let it out."

Tatum didn't hesitate before throwing her head back in laughter. Kiara shook her head, fighting the amused smile growing in her face. "JJ, stop. Stop."

"Oh, come on. That sort of initiative is just begging to be punshinsed." He swung around to face Tatum. "Right, Tate?"

She looked at Kiara's stern face before answering. She shook her head. "Not funny at all, J. Dunno what you're talking about."

Kie rolled her eyes at the girl's attempt of a lie, because it was so obviously written on her face that she was enjoying this just as much as JJ. But she secretly loved watching Tatum smile. Because it was beautiful. And behind it, you always knew she was planning something big.
