Rika is a slender framed girl with a short stature with fair skin coated with burn scars on mainly her hands, arms and her upper body underneath her clothes due to training with her fire and other scars that came from slaying demons in the past for training. On her back however, what appears to be a birthmark is that of wings with scales on it.

She possesses soft round facial features and large, round violet eyes that throughout the series holds a fiery determined look in them whenever her family, friend's or an innocent persons lives are in danger or she sets out to accomplish something. It is said that those who are unfortunate enough to see her true anger, see "the fire that lights within those eyes of a beast" as quoted by others.

Her most prominent trait however, is a trait that no one in her family has been passed down too, which is her wavy crimson hair. Rika hated her hair very much in her childhood and still even now as it was not only very hard to manage and was rare and made her stand out from others but it also lead to ostracism in her village. In the beginning, Rika often kept her hair short to make it more manageable and sometimes even dyed her hair black just to keep herself from standing out, but eventually as time passed and she found others who accepted her she started to grow it longer and she learns to embrace it.

One incident when she was protecting Rea from a demon in the series, she ends up with a gash on her back from the claws of the demon that ends up between her birthmark, making it look more like a dragon as quoted by Tanjiro.

During the battle of the final selection demon slayer entrance exam, Rika wore the usual demon slayer uniform being topped with a dark red and black kimono that is held together with a black ribbon sash where she hides wisteria poison for demons (given to her by her master when she really needs it), she wears traditional Japanese footwear and a red hooded cloak over her head that covers her head and red hair during the battle.

For her hair, it grew below shoulder length but she kept it loose as it wouldn't be much of a hindrance.

For the mark of a dragon given to her by her master, she was gifted a red bright haori with a golden dragon art on the back with a black collar and black outlines on the sleeve and at the bottom of the haori.

🏹𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐎𝐍 𝐒𝐋𝐀𝐘𝐄𝐑 𝐂𝐎𝐑𝐏𝐒 𝐔𝐍𝐈𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐌:🏹

Rika wears the standard Demon Slayer uniform, a black gakuran jacket, a white belt, baggy chocho zubon pants that extend into tabi socks, a pair of zōri with red straps, and bands of white cloth wrapped tightly around her calves resembling kyahan and over the uniform, she wears the black and dark red kimono that she sported at the final selection.

For her hairstyle, her hair has grown over her shoulders and she sometimes ties it in a ponytail when she's on a really tough mission against a demon and sometimes cuts her hair if she really feels it's getting too long for her liking, until Tanjiro encouraged her to let it grow and she allowed it.

Over her uniform, she wears a gift from her master, being a long dark red haori that reaches below knee length and the sleeves reach over her hands (which her master had to cut). On the back of the haori, is a white and golden dragon painting design symbolizing her dragon like powers and abilities.

As a Kimetsu Academy High School student in her first year, Rika wears the girls uniform of the school being a long or short sleeved button up shirt (which she often wears a plain white t-shirt or tank top underneath) with a light green patterned tie and a khaki green patterned uniform skirt. Underneath the skirt, she wears white leggings in place of the knee high socks (which she finds uncomfortable) and brown loafers.

For her hair, she wears it loose or sometimes she styles it on days for the fun of it. She often ties it in a high or low ponytail or braid when she does Physical Education or science or cooking classes.

For decoration, she sometimes wears a dragon charm necklace (gifted to her from Ryuji Takibi) underneath her uniform.

𝐍𝐎𝐑𝐌𝐀𝐋:

For normal days and casual outfits for her days off as a demon slayer, Rika often wears light pink or white kimonos with the same color sashes and traditional Japanese footwear or black flat shoes. Sometimes for winter, she will wear black kimonos with red sashes. She will wears her red hooded cape to hide her hair at times.

𝐂𝐎𝐌𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐁𝐋𝐄:

When in the butterfly mansion with the boys along with Kanao Tsuyuri, Aoi Kanzaki and the butterfly triplets, Kiyo Terauchi, Sumi Nakahara and Naho Takada, Rika wears a simple and comfortable white kimono after a mansion that left her severely injured. After returning to mansion and when she recovers to train, she keeps the kimono on but makes sure that it's short and wears white baggy pants to allow more movement and agility.

𝐍𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄:

For the nighttime when she sleeps, she wears traditional Japanese white sleepwear kimono in the butterfly mansion. She keeps her hair loose or sometimes in a braid to keep it from getting messy and extra hard to maintain.

𝐉𝐄𝐖𝐄𝐋𝐑𝐘:

For rare occasions when she is gifted jewelry by others, Rika wears traditional Japanese jewelry with flower or dragon symbols. The most prominent one she wears is a hairpin with a bright pink lotus flower that was gifted to her by Tanjiro in the storyline.

Rika is a strong and adaptable with a strong sense of conviction. During her time for training as a demon slayer with her teacher at the time, Ryuji Takibi, she shows absolute willingness to learn and can remain realistic however, a trait that often surprises and herself, is that she can hold a positive mindset even in the most grim of situations. When you first meet her, Rika can seem cold and reserved especially with a stoic expression, sometimes she can go as far as being hotheaded and can provoke those if needed, she truthfully has a very kind heart that is protected by an iron wall that she built from a betrayal that still haunts her to this very day.

However, as time passes on, her walls slowly come down and she starts to finally let people in, she starts showing affection in her own way and even appreciation after learning that sometimes unintentionally she could be initially selfish and demanding of others. During her travels and in the story, she learns to trust others as time goes by and starts to hold her friends close to her heart.

Rika often does as best as she can for others and herself to maintain a positive outlook in life and chooses to help those in need. While she can have insecurities about herself, with the help of those close to her, she starts to eventually overcome them little by little and starts to see what is truly valuable in life in her journeys with her friends and partners in demon slaying.

After the night where she was betrayed by her cousin and someone she saw as her best friend, Daichii Nishiko, killed her father and all of the villagers. Rika was heartbroken and traumatized with Daichii's betrayal which forced her to flee for her life and which had almost even killed her that night. When she was taken in by Ryuji Takibi, Rika was barely the shell of herself that she used to be before, a bright and cheerful young girl and despite being ignorant of the world was still willing to help those in need even if they ostracized her for her hair.

With time and patience, Ryuji was able to help Rika out of her troubled mindset, though not completely healed she was still mostly back to her old self and had trained her through and through but when Rika was able to teach herself how to fight back, Ryuji allowed her to go on missions alone. One mission alone showed Rika's kindness and compassion when a family with the father infected by a demon but acted like no other and never once feasted on a human, leaving his wife and daughter out of harms way. Rika slaughtered another demon successfully that tried to harm their family and in return, the family took her in as their own. She had to learn kindness and compassion on that mission, as Ryuji worried that if she didn't heal from the betrayal properly and was still on a path of revenge, she would turn into a heartless person.

One of Rika's most notable traits is that she is really dense when it comes to romance. As shown when someone confesses to her, she will respond in a casual way until it is explained further.

With time and emotional healing, she eventually comes to terms with what happened that night. Rika grieved gravely for the night of her father and the death of her friends and she stated that she will never forgive for that. This has clouded her mind for revenge for a very long time and has stated that she will not rest until Daichii has been killed by her own hands.

Rika was born as the only daughter of a noble family, her mother died when she was very young of illness and her father looked out for and raised her along with the maids and staff of the house, she was also close with her uncle and her cousin at the time. While her father was kind and loving, he was known to be cowardly.

Due to being born with her crimson hair, Rika was ostracized by many believing that it was a bad omen that related to the demons outside the walls they were protected from. Many wished to have Rika executed but others kept their minds open and loved Rika, even telling her that her hair was beautiful. Some people even adored it to the point of giving her hair accessories so she can feel proud of and love her hair, showing that being different is what made her special.

However, some were willing to go further to hunt down Rika. Some of the adult villagers fed lies to their children, making them believe that Rika was actually born a demon and would eat them in the middle of the night and they became friends with her. This caused them ostracize her and wouldn't play with her, some children even went as far as one day to bring Rika into the forest with a hatchet and started to chop her hair off.

Rika came home that day, crying and this caused her to officially hate her hair. Her cousin Daichii whom she was really close with heard about the incident from Rika herself, this caused him to become wrathful and his heart fuelled with hatred and revenge. During that night, Daichii had been turned into a monstrous demon and started to feast on the lives of the villagers, even those who were kind to him and Rika. Rika walked in the night she witnessed Daichii feasting on her father, declaring his hatred for him for never protecting Rika from the villagers that harmed and ostracized her.

Rika fled from the village with her life as Daichii was trying to persuade her to join him but when she refused, he attempted to massacre her but left her for dead out in the snow when she managed to escape.

In the snowy storm, Rika was found by her teacher Ryuuji Takibi, who possessed crimson hair just like her. He took her in and started to teach her how to get back up on her feet and fight. When she started to fight, Rika's heart was only filled with hatred towards Daichi and her desire avenge the kind villagers who loved her and her father. After years of harsh training and Ryuji Takibi helping Rika unlock the secret of her crimson hair, Rika was able to control the flames that came with the dragon fire and flame breathing techniques.

However, Ryuji noticed that Rika missed the life of an actual loving family and she needed to learn kindness and compassion as she wielded the fire and flames of a dragon, because when wielded by a heart of hatred and revenge it will burn her for eternity. On one mission, Rika met the family who took her in, a woman and her daughter who's husband had been turned into a demon after a dangerous demon tried to hunt them down, luckily the husband who was a trained warrior and former demon slayer was able to fend them off, but he was injured by the demon and demon blood got into his injuries.

Rika restrained the husband when she saw he wasn't trying to harm his family but rather to protect them. Seeing this change brought shock to Rika and she listened to the story from the wife, Saya and her five year old daughter, Rea, that Takeo (the husband and father) had never attempted to harm another human at all, even after transforming into a demon. He had been using his strength by sleeping and even training extra for his strength. Hearing their story, Rika felt sympathy and empathy for the family and decided to help them find a cure for Takeo to turn back to normal.

The family of three decided to let Rika stay with them and during that time, Rika started to feel that she had a genuine family. She loved playing with Rea and often helped both Saya and Takeo with the chores whenever she could. Until one night, a dangerous demon started to hunt down Takeo as he was a demon rogue from Muzan Kibutsuji's control. Rika fought tooth and nail to protect her new family and Takeo fought by her side and they were able to defeat the demons.

Rika was severely injured as Ryuji came back and took her to the mountains where she lived and trained. After a few weeks of rest and letting her bones and injuries heal properly, he allowed Rika to go into the Final Selection of the Demon Slayer Corps. There is where her journey starts once again.

In the beginning, while Rika didn't possess much physical strength, she was surprisingly fast and agile when it came to speed, especially when it came to running and climbing. Her slender body is what allowed her to crawl into smaller spaces. Rika was already introduced to have superhuman characteristics such as keen sight, extraordinary hand strength, powerful jumping and a very strong immune system where she warmly ever got sick and even very strong pain tolerance.

These traits were noticed by Ryuji Takibi once he took her in and started to train her. Rika is a fast and eager learner who is adaptable to any situation around her. Using her senses and skills, Rika was able to snare out traps, outsmart Ryuji on a few occasions and to fight demons on her own even earlier on with just a few lessons. After learning compassion and love for her dragon fire and flames, this allowed her to pass Ryuji Takibi's exam and to be accepted into the Final Selection. After more than three years of intensive training, Rika was able to be on an equal, if not even surpassed Ryuji Takibi's level of swordsmanship.

During the Final Selection, she was able to easily take down numerous low-level and high level demons while using the Dragon Fire Breathing Style without the help of others.

After officially becoming a member of the Demon Slayer Corps, Rika faces numerous more powerful and skilled demons.

Rika has strong intuition and is able to come up with quick strategies of either escaping or defeating an enemy who is even stronger than her. With an enemy that she's heavily outmatched with, Rika is able to come up with a strategy that defeats her opponents, even if it leaves her injured and burned by her own breathing techniques.

Rika also has vast knowledge on surviving the wilderness, cooking, medicinal herbs and such and is shown to be highly adaptable to any environment that she lives in. This even says the same towards her enemy, as she notes that every enemies fighting styles and intelligence are different and is shown to change fighting styles and strategies whenever she needs to.

Despite her desire for revenge that has clouded her mind, Rika still possesses strong morals with her undaunted will and spirit to never harm those who never deserve it. She is able to fight a battle with enemies even stronger than her with sheer will and her intelligence, even with sever wounds. No threats or any other form of violence against will scare her as she says herself that nothing was scarier than the night she watched her cousin murder all of the villagers that she loved and her father.

During the day she protected Rea from being killed by a demon, it earned her a large gash scar on her back. However in the series, her skills become even greater than that of an ordinary Hashira, even earning the praise from some of the hashira's themselves.

This technique is known to be the strongest and most dangerous breathing technique of all. This also creates a great drawback for the user as it can severely burn their body if they use it for a long period of time or over their limits. As a Demon Slayer, Rika carries around a standard sized and shaped Nichirin katana. His first katana was forged by Hotaru Haganezuka. Originally it has standard metallic color, but changed to a multicolored bright red, orange and yellow ombred sound that represents fire. Her original hilt is a black ring connected to its core by lines with a border of the same color, which heavily resembles a wagon wheel in appearance. Along with his katana, Rika has a standard sword sheath that is deep black in color.

Rika carries around a bow on her sash hidden in her cape along with a quiver that holds arrows, she can also do breathing techniques and use her dragon abilities with these arrows. With the tips of these arrows eventually are imbedded with wisteria poison given to her by Shinobu Kocho when she sees an interest in how the Insect Hashira uses poisons to kill demons.

Rika has shown exceptional skills in archery as shown multiple times throughout the series, as it has become one of her ways of demon slaying. Her skills sharpened even more throughout the series and the skill shows itself to be very useful multiple times.

Many have said that Rika has a powerful presence, terrifying for the enemies and those who anger her but reassuring for the ones she stands with and protects as they feel a powerful presence and person fighting alongside them.

Rika has been known for her unintentionally charming personality, making her quite irresistible to others. She shows herself to be quite a good leader with this trait as well as others will follow her, with not only her words but her actions as well.

Thanks to her ability of Dragon Foot and developing her speed in years of training, Rika has become a very fast opponent that most cannot predict her movements and this speed always went to her thinking as well.

Thanks to years of training with Ryuuji Takibi and training with the triplets in the Butterfly Mansion, her agility and flexibility has improved greatly.

With years of training, Rika has greatly improved her endurance with training in martial arts and breathing techniques.

Rika possesses great willpower, as shown as she trained with Ryuuji Takibi with multiple kinds of enemies. She is resistant to manipulation and temptations coming from enemies and has even kept her body moving and fighting spirit alight even when she is in a state of fatigue.

Despite training with Ryuuji Takibi for years and having been taken in by her adoptive family, Rika developed dependence for herself and learned how to live for herself despite her age.

As a student in her youth and even in her adult years, Akina shows willingness to learn and she has been shown to be quite a fast learner. She shows this when dealing with Yuta Okkotsu's problem when dealing with Rika Orimoto and how to help Yuji Itadori harness Ryomen Sukuna's cursed energy and cursed techniques as his vessel.

• 𝘈𝘥𝘢𝘱𝘵𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺:

Due to her past of needing to move around often for Ryuuji Takibi's training, fighting against demons, finding different locations to practice her dragon abilities and even traveling different places as a demon slayer, Rika shows incredible skills to adapting to many places such as outfits, mannerisms, knowledge and such. This has shown as well when she battles against different enemies with their different abilities, powers, personalities, strengths and weaknesses.

Due to living with an adoptive father who is a demon but never lost his humanity as he protects his wife and daughter, Rika was able to keep her mind open about demons who never lost their humanity and never wanted to hurt humans. This allowed to understand Tanjiro and Nezuko's situation better.

Rika has shown herself to be very empathetic to others, especially since she was a child and this trait never faded, especially when she was taken into her adoptive family and she was able to understand their situation more. Despite her seeming aloof and stoic expression, Rika is a genuinely compassionate and caring person. While this does not show at first, it is very evident in how she looks out for those close to her and takes care of them when they need it the most.

Rika is a kindhearted person, a trait that Tanjiro can clearly smell and even mentioned it. This is shown how she helps others, makes sure that they are safe and is willing to amend for mistakes she has made, linking as well to her empathetic, compassionate and caring nature.

Despite her having a realistic view of life, she carries an optimistic personality to herself. She always tries to look on the bright side, look for solutions and tries to help others as best as she can. This has helped others a lot more than she has realized and this is a trait that Tanjiro loves and respects dearly.

Due to her trauma caused by Daichii as a child and how it drastically changed her personality, Rika has become very vengeful and angry at Daichii wanting to be the one who slices his head off for his crimes. This vengeance can sometimes lead her down the road of bad decisions which rage can cloud her judgement at times.

• 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘊𝘢𝘯 𝘊𝘭𝘰𝘶𝘥 𝘏𝘦𝘳 𝘔𝘪𝘯𝘥:

As shown in her hunger for vengeance, rage can sometimes cloud Rika's mind when she's making decisions or fighting against powerful opponents. This can take her a long time to snap out of but once she does, she doesn't let it stop her anymore.

When provoked and when she is angry to the point beyond return, Rika can get very snappy, less tolerable of others and will even get physically violent if she has too.

Due to her past trauma, training and such and despite both of these strengths proving to be useful, Rika's over independent and over responsible personality can prove to be a great downfall as when she needs help and doesn't ask for it until it gets worse or when she ignores something to focus on her other responsibilities and it gets worse, potentially almost costing her life at times.

This is shown in her over independence and over responsible traits, showing in battle or in any tasks to numb and erase any emotional pain, she will often distract herself and even then she will not stop after being physically and emotionally exhausted.

With how her breathing techniques can burn her and how her dragon techniques can not only drain her energy but also cause her great pain when she overexerts herself, she can ignore and withstand the pain for long periods of time but ignores it until it cannot be ignored anymore.

In the past during her years when she was training with Ryuuji Takibi and was taken in by her second adoptive family, while this was unintentional she could come off as very selfish and demanding of others, her adoptive father Taiyo called her out on it and Ryuuji Takibi as well and she was able to understand the harm she caused and change her ways for good and appreciating those around her.

• 𝘊𝘢𝘯 𝘚𝘦𝘦𝘮 𝘈𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘧:

Due to her stoic expression and quiet personality, she can come off aloof and unfriendly at first due to it being a while to get to know her but she truly is a kind and caring person who truly does what she can to make those she holds close to her happy.

Due to being naturally introverted and having been alone a majority of her life (besides having Ryuuji Takibi and her adoptive family by her side), she is very shy of her talents and demonstrating them in front of people. Eventually she slowly grows out of this shyness and allows people to witness her other talents besides demon slaying.

Due to the trauma caused by Daichii, the ostracism she faced as a child and even now as she is older and having to learn to rely on herself, Rika holds trust issues with her unhealed trauma, causing to also be over independent and unable to let others in to get to know her for sometime.
