The team was holed up in a cargo plane, all pretty defeated. Leslie felt more defeated than ever. And the last time she felt this way was when Joseph died. Now finding out that he lied about his true identity and she had no idea was a lot. She had no idea how she could let that go unnoticed. I mean, who just marries someone without knowing everything about them? She didn't know how she could be this stupid. How could she not see it? How could she be so blind? Her husband was an entirely different person. Was her whole marriage a lie?
"Look, we're in the clear. But this thing is a mess. The headlines out there? Secret spy plane crashes in a hostile country? Followed by some kind of covert ops firefight? I'll get you where you need, and then I'm gonna need to back off." Stasiak said, and to Leslie's knowledge, she knew he was former FBI and helped Brian sneak into the United States once, which would explain his fucked up nose. "I appreciate the favor," Dom says simply in his raspy tone.
"I got to stop doing so many favors." Stasiak mumbles before walking away.
"What we doing, Ramsey? Like, where are we going?" Roman questions, breaking the insufferable silence. "I was able to decrypt the data that came through with Mr. Nobody's SOS, and I found GPS coordinates, definitely included on purpose." Ramsey informed and Dom makes his way back to the group. Letty glanced up at him, "you knew about Jakob?" Leslie still couldn't help but wince, not used to that name, especially seeing as it was her husband's true identity. This whole thing was still entirely too fresh.
"Question: Who is Jakob?" Tej asked and Roman stands up, still very frustrated with all this.
"Jakob is-- or was, Dom's brother." Letty answers, making Tej and Ramsey both tense up, trying to convey their shock at this revelation. "Oh, oh, my bad. I'm sorry. I'm just processing. Brother? You got a brother? Who also happens to be some kind of super spy with his own private army, who drives literally like a bay out of hell, who pre-planned an aerial jump and landed at the bottom of an airplane? Who does that?" Roman rants, letting his thoughts take over, not that anyone could blame him right now.
"Who does that? A Toretto." Tej stated.
Roman's eyes land on Leslie, noticing she was being uncharacteristically quiet. "Okay. What's up with her? She hasn't even said a word since we got here." Leslie stood up abruptly and walked over to table, pouring herself a glass of water. "You see this, Roman?" Leslie pulls out her chain from under her shirt and the three recognize it to be a Toretto chain. "This was gifted to me by my husband. So, to my bloody surprise, there's an engraving on it. That engraving says "Jakob." Take a look." Leslie pulls it off and tosses it over to Roman.
"Wait, so you were married to Jakob?" Tej questioned, taking the chain to examine it.
"No. I was married to Joseph Creed, who's real identity just so happens to be Jakob Toretto." Roman, Tej, and Ramsey all share equally as shocked looks, that was not what they expected to hear. Leslie takes the chain back and puts it back over her neck. "I just found out my husband, who is not only alive, but is an entirely different person. So, excuse me, Roman, if I am being uncharacteristically quiet. I didn't know I was inclined to speak after finding out I'm not a widow like I thought I was."
"My-my bad," Roman stumbled out nervously.
"I'm gonna be sick." Leslie ran off to the bathroom, falling to her knees and throwing up into the toilet. "I got her." Letty says and runs over to the bathroom to help her friend, who she just found out was now her sister in law. "You okay, Les?" Letty pulled the woman's braids back into a bun and rubbed her back in comfort. "Not really, no. I'm not okay at all. I don't know how to feel, how I'm supposed to be. I mean, how are you supposed to react after finding out your entire life was a lie?"
Letty sighs softly, she partly knew how Leslie was feeling, having had her life erased once. "There's no proper way to react, Leslie. Trust me, I know. My memory was practically erased for years. But what I do know, is that you got family. And we are all here for you. You are not alone." Leslie frowned, tears threatening to fall. Normally she would never cry in front of anyone but there was something about Letty that warmed her heart. She could trust Letty with anything.
"Thank you. I know we're not exactly the closest, but you have helped me more than you can imagine. I'm not that close to my family and my best friend turned on me so I don't have time to just break down. Too many people depend on me to be strong." Leslie leaned against the wall, Letty moved to sit next to her. "Well, you don't have to do that for me. You can break down anytime you want. You earned the right to cry it out. You deserve as much as that."
Leslie chuckled, laying her head on Letty's shoulder. "You're right. Thank you."
"You don't have to thank me. We're familia now, aren't we? Sister in law." Letty grinned, putting an arm around her sister's shoulder. Leslie smiled, sliding an arm around her torso. "I've never had a sister. It's nice."
"Well, now you do."

They were now off the grid at the Caspian Sea in some underground tunnels where Mr. Nobody worked missions. "Talk about off the grid," Ramsey comments. "I don't think they had grids when this place was built. If a Ninja Turtle pop out on me, tell you right now, I'm out." Roman expressed, following behind Leslie with a flashlight in hand. "No way this place was sanctioned by the agency. This was definitely Mr. Nobody's secret hideout," Tej adds.
Leslie walked over to the large electrical lever and pulled it down, turning on all the power. "What do we do now, Dom?" She questioned.
Dom turns around to face the team. "Whoever Jakob has become...and whatever he's up to..it's on me. And me alone." He concludes. Leslie shook her head, she wasn't gonna let him do this alone. Joseph, or well, Jakob was still her husband, and if he was alive, she was going to find out why. "Not just on you. This is my problem too. We're married, he's still my husband, so this lies on me as well." She said, bringing eyes onto her as she and Dom share a look.
"Nah. Whatever's on you, it's on us." Roman stated, Tej nods in agreement with his friend. "Let's get to work."
Leslie unscrewed a panel from the wall, she, Tej, and Ramsey were working up in the booth trying to get this place up and running so they could find Jakob. Roman walks in, clearing his throat, making Tej and Ramsey look over at him, Leslie just learned to ignore him. "Y'all ever thought about how many wild missions we been on? How we somehow..always survive?" He says.
"So far, so good, I guess." Tej shrugs and Ramsey nods, adding, "it's just luck."
"No, no, no, see y'all not listening. Think about this. We've not been on insane missions around the world doing what most would say is damn near impossible. And I ain't got one single scar to show for it? I mean look at my jacket. Those are bullet holes from 14 dudes trying to take my head clean off these shoulders." Roman tosses Tej the jacket which indeed has many bullet holes in it.
Leslie scoffs, glancing down at her stitched up arm from the gunshot wound she took earlier. She had many scars on her. "Speak for yourself."
"We've taken out cars, trains, tanks. I'm not even gonna mention the submarine." Roman goes on with his daily rant, making Leslie roll her eyes. Tej looked down, seemingly thinking about what he was saying. "And yet we're still here." He mumbles. "Exactly!" Roman exclaimed. "Ramsey, what happens when you test and theory over and over again only to come to the same result?" Tej asks.
"A hypothesis becomes fact. But you're not actually suggesting that..." Ramsey trails off in disbelief. "I don't know but when the improbable happens again and again, that's more than luck. Maybe we're not so normal." Tej theorizes. Leslie leaned against the wall with furrowed brows, surely he wasn't actually entertaining Roman's stupid theory of the day, or well, hour.
Roman grins, glad Tej was on his side. "that's what I'm saying. We are not normal."
"Okay, um, just to clarify, are you two maybe suggesting that we're what, invincible?" Ramsey suggests. "Maybe," Roman and Tej both respond. Tej nods, and Leslie smiled, seeing the look in his eyes. "Or maybe...you're just a dumbass." Roman's face falls and the three laugh at him. "Take your dumbest jacket with you, man." Tej tosses it at Roman and turns back around to finish working.
Leslie cleared her throat, moving to pat Roman's shoulder with a sympathetic smile, "it's called plot armor, Roman. Be grateful for it, they don't kill off the main characters until the last movie." Roman looks at her in confusion as she exits the booth to go downstairs. "I never understand what she's talking about," he said.
"Nobody does," Tej mumbles.
Leslie glances up, hearing some commotion in the tunnels. She quickly grabs her gun and approached the tunnel, walking down it with her gun raised. A woman slowly made herself visible, her own gun raised in her hands with a confused look. "Uh, hello? Who are you?" She questions. Leslie squint her eyes, "Leslie Creed. Who are you? How did you find this place?"
"Uh, I'm Mia. Letty called, apparently Jakob is back. I know you. You were in my husband's old files, he spent a good two years trying to lock you up." Mia smiled, lowering her gun, she knew Leslie wasn't a threat to her right now. Letty and Dom mentioned Leslie had helped save baby Brian. "Oh, you're Mia, the sister. My apologies." Leslie lowered her gun and slid it back into the strap around her leg.
"It's okay." Mia said, moving to walk alongside the woman. "You husband was the former cop, right?" Mia nods with a small smile. "Yeah, I remember him. The blonde pretty one? He was on my ass for a while. I shot him in the shoulder, I recall. He didn't come back after that." Leslie smirked at the memory, it was like a dog chase when she crossed paths with O'Connor.
Mia chuckles, nodding, "yeah, that explains the scar. He doesn't like talking about it for some reason."
Leslie shrugs, "I wouldn't either if I got thrown into a pile of pig mud by a girl." Mia snickers at the information and follows Leslie down the stairs. "They should be down here. Guys, sorry to interrupt. We got a little company. Think you know this person." Leslie offers Mia a nod before leaving the family to give them their respective privacy.
"Hey, Leslie, you're gonna wanna see this." Ramsey calls the woman over, a sympathetic look on her face that got Leslie wondering what it could be about. "What's this about, darling?" Leslie asks. Ramsey unplugs a flashdrive and hands it to the assassin. "It's something you're gonna want to look at by yourself." Ramsey suggests. Leslie glances down at the drive and pushes it back to Ramsey. "No, plug it in. Put it on the screen. I can handle whatever it is."
Ramsey and Tej shared an uneasy look before the woman plugged it in and pulled up the file on the screen. The file was labeled, "MISSION CREED" with a large red font, meaning this mission was to track down every member of the Creed family and lock them up, or worse, kill them. "Who was the agent on this mission?" Leslie asked, but deep down she knew the answer. Ramsey clicked something, pulling up the agent, who was indeed, Jakob Toretto.
Ramsey frowns, "Leslie, I'm so sorry."
"Pull up the report." Leslie ordered, crossing her arms over her chest, so focused on reading every word, she hadn't seen everyone else walk over. "Read it." Ramsey gives an unsure look so Letty walks over and decides to read it for her. "February 23rd, 2005. Agent Toretto reports meeting daughter of Lyra Creed at street race in the Puerto Rico, Leslie Creed. Agent is said to go undercover to get closer with the daughter, which could lead him to finding the location of the whole family."
The crowd of people cheered loudly as Leslie Creed passed the finish line, winning the race, and 10k in the process. She grinned, sliding out the car, Jamie, the man who handled the money passed over the cash to her. "10k mamacita. You did good." He said in Spanish. She smiled, handing him back 3k out of respect. "Y'all see this?! This is called respect!" He grinned, raising up the money.
Leslie chuckles, leaning against the car with a cocky grin. "All right, cabrons. I'm feeling lucky tonight. Who wants to race?!" She looked around mockingly, "aw, no takers?!"
"I'm in." A voice spoke up from the back of the crowd. Leslie raised a brow and Jamie was quick to make everyone move out the way to let the man through. Leslie raised a brow at the man, tilting her head, she smirked, "oh, you're in? What's an American like you doing here? Huh, white boy?" The crowd all laugh, making comments in Spanish but he was unfazed by this.
"I'm here to race the great Leslie Creed. If she's not here, I would love for you to go find her." He says effortlessly in Spanish, making everyone cheer. Leslie raised a brow, a small smirk growing on her face, she couldn't lie, he was a good looking man, and he did have guts, cause no one would dare speak like that to Leonardo Creed's daughter. "You got balls, I'll give you that. But, do you got heart?"
"I got more than heart. I got slips." He held up the pink slip, making everyone "ooh" at this. Leslie had never raced for slips before. And right now, she was using her father's favorite car, so it was going to be very risky. "You're not scared to lose, are you?" He asks mockingly. Leslie shot him a firm look before plastering a cocky smirk on her lips. "I'm Leslie Creed. I don't lose."
"We'll see about that."
Leslie glanced down momentarily, her mind flashing to that night she met Jakob for the first time. She remembered it like it was yesterday. "Keep going." Ramsey scrolls down for Letty to continue. "July 4th, 2005. Agent is said to be dating Leslie Creed, to remain his cover, he uses the name of Joseph Martinez. He says he is close to finding out the location of Lucas Creed." Leslie flinched, getting reminded of their first kiss on July 4th, only to find out it wasn't as magical as she thought.
"Skip to the end," Leslie mumbles, not wanting to hear any more reports about how close Jakob was to getting close to her and her family. "September 18th, 2008. This mission has officially been canceled, due to the marriage of Jakob Toretto and Leslie Creed. Approved by Mr. Nobody." Letty finished, glancing over at Leslie with a sad look. Mia held a hand over her mouth, in utter shock that her brother could do this to someone, all for a mission. It was horrible.
"I need a second." She stumbled out, running towards the bathroom, most likely to throw up again.
"How could he do this to someone?" Mia questioned in shock.
Leslie walked back over after a few minutes, she pulled herself together the best she could. "Sorry. Uh, what do you have on the device?" She asked, trying to get back onto why they were here. Ramsey clears her throat, pulling out the flashdrive to pull up the other file she had on the device Jakob took. "The firewall on this old thing is actually pretty good. But, you know, port scan, UDP message peek, pop to root shell, and...say hello to Project Aries." Leslie leaned against the wall, her arms crossed over her chest as she eyed the screen.
"What is it?" Mia asks. "It's what we got from Mr. Nobody's plane. Or at least part of it," Letty answers. "Aries was designed to override and assimilate anything the runs on code. Any computer anywhere. If it operates on zeros and ones, it's vulnerable. If you take Aries and upload it to a satellite, it'll spread like a virus. Then it'll be a matter of time before someone can control any weapon system, traditional, nuclear, stuff we haven't even seen yet, and just point it wherever they want. Jakob reboots the world older within minutes."
"Ares is the God of War, right? If Jakob gets his hands on this, he'll be the God of damn near everything." Tej added.
"Because of how dangerous it was, the Aries prototype was recovered and split into two halves by Mr. Nobody. Both of which are worthless without the activation key. Jakob now has one of the pieces. He'll be going after the other half next. As for the key, it's...it's vanished." Ramsey finished. "So we find it. If we're gonna beat Jakob to it, we're gonna have to split up." Dom announced. "Roman, Tej, I know a couple of guys operating out of Germany that could get us anything we need."
"I'm on it." Roman agreed.
"Wait, there's one more thing. Mr. Nobody's transmission had one name connected to the key. You guys are gonna want to brace yourselves for this." Tej types something on the keyboard and everyone's eyes went to the screen, a large picture of Han Lue, also known as Han Seoul-Oh, popped up. Leslie was familiar with the name. Deckard brought him up once or twice, explaining that his death was the reason the team were so hostile to him when he helped on the job a few years ago. Apparently, he had killed Han, which explained the hostility.
"No way." Letty breathed out in shock. "That's exactly what I said," Tej comments. "So you're saying Han's death is connected to all this?" Roman questions in confusion and surprise. Mia shrugs, "he has to have something to do with it." Letty nods, glancing over at Tej. "I'll look into it. Tej, can you send me all the tiles you have on Han?" She requests and he nods. "I'll go with you," Mia offers.
Leslie sighs, running a hand down her face. "I'm so tired of this. Why is everyone suddenly rising from the dead? What's next, my pet cat?" She scoffs in disbelief.
"Letty." Dom stops Letty, making her look over at him. "I got this the day Han died." Dom handed her a postcard, it had a picture of Mexico on it. "Mexico?" She questioned in confusion. "Check the postmark. Whatever he was up to, it ended here." Letty flips the card over to view the postmark. "Tokyo." Letty says, knowing that's where they would have to go first.
"What are you gonna do about Jakob?" Mia questions her brother, causing Leslie to glance up at the name. "I'm gonna find him." Dom says simply. "How?" Mia asked, not seeing it was that simple.
Dom glances over at Leslie and back to Mia, "an old friend."
Leslie walks over to Tej as he and Roman get ready to leave. "I called my brother, he's gonna meet you at the airport. He won't be hard to miss, trust me. He'll accompany you guys to Germany." Leslie passed him a note with the code to gate and Tej took it with a grateful smile. "Thanks, Les. We appreciate it."
"Thank me by not letting Roman drink all the good champagne in my jet," Leslie mumbled, getting a small laugh from Tej and an offended look from Roman.
As everyone is finally off to do their respective jobs, it leaves Leslie and Ramsey alone. "I just, don't understand. Why didn't he just tell you before you got bloody married?" Ramsey says, she and Leslie going through the mission reports. "Cause he knew how I would react," Leslie answered, glancing up at the screen display, going through the pictures that were in the files. "He knows how I am when it comes to family. So if I knew that he was just after my family, that I was just a mission, I would have killed him."
"This is the most insane love story I've ever read," Ramsey mumbled. Leslie chuckles lightly, clicking on another picture that was taken of the two in Santo Domingo during her birthday weekend. "Wait! I think I figured it out," Ramsey spoke suddenly with wide eyes and Leslie gave her a confused look. "Sure, let's say Jakob took Cipher to find the other half of Aries, but what if that wasn't the only reason he took her."
"I'm not following," Leslie said.
Ramsey sighs, thinking of how to word it. "Okay, so, you said that technically there was no solid proof that Jakob and Cipher even met. So, how would that explain Cipher claiming she killed your husband? What if, Jakob gave Cipher your family's information in return to send you that video of her supposedly killing him? I was looking over this video for hours, and it just doesn't make sense. It cuts off just after you hear the gunshot, but you don't even see Jakob, you just hear his voice." She rants continuously, hoping the assassin caught on.
Leslie nodded slowly, starting to get it. "So, what you're saying is, he was never there? It was just a recording of his voice?"
Ramsey nods in response before continuing her theory. "Yes, and in theory, what if the information on your family wasn't enough for Cipher?" Leslie furrowed her brows, catching into the woman's theory. "To my understanding, you're saying, Jakob not only kidnapped Cipher for Aries, but he kidnapped her before she could tell me the truth? Before Cipher came to me and told me that Jos- Jakob was alive all this time?" Ramsey crossed her arms, nodding slowly.
"I think you're right." Leslie mumbles, it did explain almost everything.
"What I'm trying to figure out, is why Jakob would fake his death?" Ramsey says.
"Actually, I think I know why." Leslie said before she sat down, typing on the keyboard, she pulled up Jakob's file. "Why?" Ramsey asks, glancing up at the screen.
"Joseph- or well, Jakob, knew that I was going to catch onto him eventually. Around the time before he died, he was acting more strangely and secretive. I remember we went to a street race once, and I saw my friend Jamie talking with Jakob in private, and it looked intense. The next week, Jamie had passed in a car accident, I took it a bit hard so we moved back to London. I thought nothing of it at the time, but what if Jamie knew about Jakob's true identity?" Leslie suggested, and Ramsey nods, understanding where she was getting.
"And if Jamie knew, it was only a matter of time before everyone would figure it out." Ramsey finished and Leslie nodded, confirming her answer. "Exactly. And whilst we were in London, it had been reported back to me that Jamie was murdered. Just a day before Jakob died, I had told him I was going to visit Puerto Rico. So Jakob had to fake his death to protect his identity and keep me from looking into Jamie's death. I never did get to take that trip to Puerto Rico."
Ramsey's eyes lit up with an idea and she smiled. "What if you took that trip right now?"
"What do you mean?" Leslie shot her a confused look.
"Go to Puerto Rico, Leslie. You deserve some answers, our theories aren't guaranteed to be true." Ramsey encouraged.
"I guess I'm gonna have to call in a favor as my brother has my jet," Leslie mumbled, picking up her phone and clicking on the contact name of the one man she really did not like. Ramsey raised a curious brow, "who are you calling?"
Leslie doesn't respond as the call was answered. "I need a favor."
"What is it? I'm on vacation." He asked in a bored and annoyed tone, God was voice irritating to hear. It sounded almost worse in person as well. "Bloody hell, could you be anymore irritating?" She grumbled.
"Hey, you called me. If you need a favor, just ask nicely."
"I hate you."
"Well, that's not very nice of you."
