ALESSIA CHAVEZ was a tough kid. Her dad left her mom, Zoe Chavez. Zoe began to never come home after that. She was depressed. Zoe covered it up by bringing guys home every night. Alessia was only nine years old. Her older sister, Luciana Chavez, was sixteen years old and taking care of her.

Alessia had her best friends, Eli and Demetri. So, when her sister wanted to be out with friends, Alessia would go to either of their houses.

When they hit freshman year, Alessia met a guy. A guy that Eli and Demetri thought was a bad influence. Because Alessia ended up on Eli's porch passed out drunk and high.

When Alessia awoke, she was confused on how she got to Eli's. Alessia wasn't looking so great and worried Eli and Demetri. They told her they've never met her boyfriend and they're concerned for her safety. Alessia wasn't happy and she yelled at them. Alessia left his house and this was a reoccurrence. On the seventh time, Eli told her to go to rehab and to break up with her boyfriend, Tommy. Alessia was pissed and stopped being friends with them.

That summer she accidentally overdosed and she went to rehab. The whole time she was there, she was struggling and she was missing Tommy. Eli and Demetri tried to visit her, but she turned them away. Alessia never once saw her mom come visit her. Her sister visited a few times, but it was hard since she lived all the way in Minnesota. But Alessia told her to go home to her kids and husband and she would be fine.

Once Alessia got out, she relapsed. And school started, so when she went to school high, Eli and Demetri noticed and kept an eye on her from afar. They became friends with the new kid, Miguel. And they told Miguel about Alessia. Miguel thought he could talk through to Alessia. It was a bad idea because Alessia punched him and got suspended for two days. That night, she was caught with drugs and was sent to juvie for the next three years.

When Alessia was caught, they tried to ask her how she got the drugs, but she wouldn't give it up that her boyfriend, Tommy wanted her to drug deal for him that night. But in reality, the cops were onto him and he put the blame on Alessia and when Alessia was found, a cop gave her a note that explained everything.

Fast forward and Alessia was rethinking about her life and the meaning. Alessia was in the library in Juvie when she saw the news on the TV. Miguel was kicked off the balcony by a kid, Robby Keene. Alessia heard about a "karate war". She thought it was ridiculous.

Two weeks later and Alessia got a bunkmate and it was Robby Keene. Alessia decided she was gonna keep an eye on him.

People started calling her crazy. Maybe she was crazy. Maybe she was for him.
