— MONDAY 19TH FEB
————————————————

... 𝐖hile Alexis slept soundly, cuddled into my side, I was left awake, staring up at her bedroom ceiling. My mind travelled to the week we'd spent together and how it was probably the happiest I'd ever been in a long, long time. Alexis made my heart skip so many beats I thought I was going into cardiac arrest. Butterflies fluttered in my stomach so often around her that I constantly felt sick. But it was okay, because it was her. And even now, when she was doing nothing, my heart raced at the feeling of her breath on my neck.

Alexis was curled into a ball, resting her head on my chest but angled up towards my face, her short snores and hot puffs of breath hitting the underside of my jaw. My arm was wrapped around her shoulders and my hand sat under her (my) shirt on her spine, trailing along it.

Unbeknownst to him, it was his delicate touch that had sent her off to sleep so early.

The time ticked by and the sun still hadn't risen and I still hadn't slept. I also hadn't moved from my position on my back, to afraid that it would awake the girl on my chest. Every time Alexis stirred when I breathed too hard, I winced and muttered an apology, although aware that she couldn't hear me.

When I had seen how deep in sleep she was, my hand moved from beneath her (my) shirt and rested on her head, raking through her soft blonde hair. She would occasionally twitch or murmur in her sleep, to which I chuckled softly or stroked her head more gently.

I grabbed my phone from the bedside table and scrolled through my messages, seeing multiple from the Percy Jackson group chat and even some missed ones from my mom, just asking if I was okay and to say hi to Alexis for her. I single handedly replied to them all, gripping my phone tightly to avoid dropping it on my face and possible disturbing Alexis' sleep.

I'd also received a few messages from my school friends, asking about how it was in London and how it was going with Alexis. I rolled my eyes as some of my daring friends called her 'fine'. I quickly told them to 'stfu' before swiping onto another chat. This girl. . . she was a friend of mine, but I didn't necessarily like her.

I replied rather dryly to the texts I was being sent from her, saying how much she missed me and needed to see me soon.

I put my phone back on Alexis' night stand and looked down at the girl, memorising every freckle and beauty spot that decorated her cheeks and nose bridge. Her eyelids were shut, blocking me from glancing at her beautiful crystal-like iris'. People had always told me that I had beautiful eyes (clearly they hadn't met Alexis).

My hands played with the ends of her hair, twisting the strands in between my fingers.

"Giraffes. . ." Alexis mumbled into my neck.

A frown of confusion found its way onto my face and looked down at her. Her eyes were relaxed shut and her lips were parted slightly. Her breaths hit my skin and a tinge of pink spread across my cheeks.

"What?" I whispered in response.

"Giraffes don't like lasagne." Alexis continued to mutter.

"Noted." I bite back a chuckle, looking up at the ceiling and being careful not too move my chest too much in fear of waking her up.

"Shhh!" She hissed, her fist clenching around my shirt. "The rabbits will hear."

"I don't think rabbits have anything to do with giraffes, Lex." I smiled in amusement, my hand subconsciously stroking her back like it was second nature.

"Rabbits hate giraffes." Alexis 'corrected' me. "I need a bucket."

I couldn't help but snort at this. It was such a random sentence. "What for?"

"The room is a mess." She huffed in annoyance, a pout on her lips.

"What room?" I stroked the back of her head with my thumb.

"The room in. . ." Alexis made a sort of choking noise which made me frown.

"Lex?" I muttered, moving my head to look at her fully.

Her face was pale and her cheeks were puffed out, like there was food stuffed in them. Another choking noise sounded from the back of her throat and her chest heaved in a panic-stricken way. Her hands shook against my chest and I encased it in my own, tracing shapes on the back of her hand. Alexis coughed and choked in her sleep, increasing my concern for her.

I sat up with my back against her headboard and moved her to sit in between my legs, her back against my chest. My hand rotated in soothing circles against her back and my chin rested on one of her shoulders. Her hands gripped and clawed at my knees. Her head kept dropping and making it harder for her to breathe, so I used my free hand to hold her head up gently.

"It's okay. You're alright." I whispered. "It's just a bad dream. Breathe."

Eventually, after some time, the choking noises stopped and her breathing returned to normal. I exhaled in relief and held her tightly. She subconsciously rolled onto her side and curled herself into my chest. I gave her the space to get comfortable.

Soon after, I also fell into a deep sleep, with her protected by my shielding arms.

— TUESDAY 20TH FEB —
————————————————

... 𝐓he next morning, Alexis woke before me. In fact, we'd swapped positions by the time I'd awoken, and my head rested on her chest, with her nails scratching at my scalp soothingly. I stirred against her and she peered down at me with a soft smile.

"Morning." She mumbled, playing with her belly button piercing in boredom.

"Hi." My voice rumbled back, sitting up and grabbing my phone. "Sleep well?"

Alexis hummed and shrugged, running a hand over her face. "I had the worst nightmare last night, it was like I was choking on my own breath."

"About that. . ." I scratch the back of my neck awkwardly and sit up against the headboard and holding my arm out for her to crawl into but she didn't.

She looked at me with a countenance of embarrassment and fear, "What, was it real?"

"No! No, but I heard you. . . you sounded like you were, I don't know, choking?" I phrase my words to be as reassuring and comforting as possible. "You were fine though. I got you back to sleep."

Alexis groaned and covered her face with her hands. "Oh, that's so embarrassing!"

"Hey, hey, no. It's It's fine. Don't worry, I don't care, as long as you're okay." I shake my head and bring her closer.

She whined and hid her face in my neck.

"What do you wanna do today?" I ask, trying to move the topic of conversation on. "We should go out and make the most of the last few days."

A look of realisation splashed across her face and it seemed as if it only just dawned on her that we had two more days left together. Well, one technically. I was leaving tomorrow evening and I was probably going to spend the entire day packing and trying to spend as much time with Lexi as possible. So the chances of us leaving the house were slim to none.

"Well. . . the arcade might be open." Alexis shrugged, tracing her name on my chest.

One of the things I was going to miss most about her was her long nails and they way they scraped against my skin. I swear, they put me to sleep faster than any drug could've.

"Let's do that then." I smile at her, moving her hair out of her face and cupping her cheek.

I leant in for a kiss but she backed up, making a noise of protest. "Nope, not with morning breath."

She ran across the hall into the bathroom and brushed her teeth. She jogged back into the room and pressed her lips to mine quickly. "Your turn."

I laugh at her and walk off into the bathroom. I see Harry walking up the stairs, phone in hand and hair messy. He was on the phone with someone and laughing. "Y'alright mate?"

"Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm fine." I nod my head, walking into the bathroom.

When I walk back into Alexis' room afterwards, she was standing in her mirror, wearing grey cycling shorts and an oversized t-shirt. I wrap my arms around her waist from behind and clasp my hands in front of her, my head resting in the crook of her neck.

"Dress or casual shirt?" She asked me, snapping a quick photo.

"You'll look good in whatever." I mumble, stepping away to stretch lightly.

"Casual it is." Alexis hummed, picking up a sage green crop top that was strewn across her bed and shoving me out of the room. I laughed at her and waited outside patiently.

This was our last day together, so I was excited to get it going, but also afraid of it being over. I didn't want to go back home. Because, truthfully, my home was wherever Alexis was.
