... 𝐈f it were up to me, I would choose to live the rest of my life with Walker Scobell. In my eyes, he was the perfect example of how boys should act nowadays. Well-mannered, properly spoken, respectful and funny. He was never afraid to dish out compliments and made me feel like I was the only girl in the world. This was the treatment that I had been dreaming of since I was a child.
She fully believed that Walker went out of his way to treat her this way, but it was natural for him. He saw her in need and he helped immediately. It didn't matter what it was. If she needed help, he was there in a flash.
Walker and I were currently dancing around Harry's kitchen, laughing and singing awfully to whatever song was playing from my playlist. The only light on came from the extractor hood and the LED lighting underneath the cabinets, but I didn't need to see him to know that he both looked flawless.
We stood on each other's toes, we hit each other in the face, we pushed each other into the counters, but it was all good fun. Clumsy, teenage love. Love? Woah, not yet. Or. . . maybe one of us was falling quicker than the other?
"Lexi, dad's here." Harry said, walking into the kitchen and flicking the light on.
As said, Michael walked through the door with a smile on his face and his hand raised in greeting. Walker was mid-way through feeding me a spoonful of lasagne, I swallowed the piece without a worry in the world.
My dad's face fell before shining again. Shining with pride. He embraced me with a smile before turning his attention to Walker.
The curly head swallowed nervously and smiled, wiping his hands on a napkin and walking up the grey-haired man. They shook hands and Michael looked at the boy with nothing but happiness.
"I'm Michael, Alexis' dad." He greeted, his teeth on show.
"Walker, it's nice to meet you." The blond chuckled in slight relief at the man and how easygoing he was.
"Nice to meet you too, kid." Michael laughed, patting the boy on the back. "You've got my daughter cheesing over her phone and dancing around my house so, how are you?"
"Dad, please never say 'cheesing' again." I blushed a furious shade of red, nearly matching the red of the lasagne sauce on the corners of my mouth.
"I'm uh— I'm alright, thank you. How are you?" Walker repeated the respectful question.
"I'm good, not too bad, not too bad. Led, nice." Michael nodded, pointing to the band t-shirt Walker was wearing.
"Oh yeah, it's my dad's." The curly haired boy blushed, looking down at his clothes.
"He's got good taste." Michael smiled broadly before looking at the lasagne on the counter. "Who made this then?"
"Uh. . . me. I did." Walker cleared his throat, having a swig of water.
"You eating, Lex?" Michael turned to face me, whose cheeks were stuffed with food.
I let out a muffled 'what?' and giggled in embarrassment, turning away to swallow my food down. When I returned to facing the way the men were, Walker chuckled endearingly at me and raised his thumb to swipe at the corner of my mouth, revealing a bit of beef that hadn't gone in.
If possible, I blushed a deeper shade of crimson and used the back of my hand to wipe my lips.
"Well, I've just dropped by to let you know that your mom has gone out again but uh. . . you can come home tonight if you want. Or you can stay here, whatever you want, hun." My dad informed with a sad smile.
"Um. . . can I stay here again? I'll come home next week?" I shuffled in my spot, finger nails drilling against the counter.
"Of course." Michael nods, rubbing my back with a reassuring look. "It was nice seeing you both."
"You too." Walker replied softly, his eyes discreetly flickering between my dad and I.
"Yeah, see you soon, dad." I side-hugged my dad, using the side of my fork to cut into some lasagne.
With that, Michael left the room to talk to Harry a bit more, and Walker and I continued to mess about. At some point, someone threw lasagne at the other, and it landed on the floor — Walker was forced to clean it up.

... 𝐀t the end of the night, Alexis had allowed me to do her skincare routine. I was very excited and took my time making sure everything went on smoothly and her skin looked perfect.
When she was happy with how it turned out, we got changed into our pyjamas. Hers were a pair of sleep shorts and one of my hoodies. The one I'd promised to give her.
Eventually, we got into bed and cuddled together. Alexis laid her head on my chest and I grabbed a book off the nightstand. I opened the page to where we had last left off and began to read.
"Chapter nine, two snakes save my life." I narrated, my arm around her shoulder but still holding the book close enough to read. "I love New York. You can pop out of the Underworld in Central Park, hail a taxi, head down Fifth Avenue with a giant hellhound loping along behind you and nobody even looks at you funny."
"Sure you can." Alexis snorted, breathing in my scent. She was quite literally surrounded by it.
She was lying on me, she was wearing my hoodie and I had slept in her bed so much that it now smelt more like me than her.
"You actually can. I did that once." I grinned cockily, nudging her with my hip before carrying on with reading. "Of course, the Mist helped. People probably couldn't see Mrs O'Leary, or maybe they thought she was a large, loud very friendly fire truck—"
"Mrs O'Leary is the best character, hands down." Alexis commented.
She often did this, interrupted my reading. It was like her internal monologue just blurted out of her mouth. I would've found it annoying if it was anyone else.
"Paws down." I 'corrected' with a chuckle.
"That was awful." Alexis giggled, closing her eyes as she listened to me narrate.
It didn't take her long to drift off to sleep. The last thing she remembered was Percy and Annabeth talking to Hermes and Hermes lashed out at Annabeth.
I had no complaints as she fell into a peaceful sleep. I put the book away and shuffled down so that my head was on the pillow. My arms folded around her, one hand cradling the back of her head into my neck and the other rested around her waist. This was the most comfortable I had ever been. I felt like I was protecting her and keeping her safe.
Even though everything putting her in danger was already inside of their protective bubble, I still felt like he was doing a job.
The thing I didn't actually realise is that there was no physical harm to protect Alexis from. It was her own brain that was self destructive.
