...        𝐈 had a week left before I broke up for my half term. I suddenly got a random spike of motivation upon hearing that I had mid-year exams to sit when she I back to school. So I spent my entire evening writing out revision notes and gossiping with Walker. The American now had problems with an entire friend group he didn't even know.

This also meant that it was one week until Walker came to England. One week until we met. We hadn't made any definite plans yet, but I was hoping that Walker had been in contact with a few of my friends and a certain brother.

He had plans, and he was determined to make them work. Part of him was tempted to fully ask her out, as in 'Alexis Lewis, will you be my girlfriend?' but then he real thought about it, and realised they'd been friends for two months, and not two years. For now, he'd settle for pathetic and cheesy flirting while treating her like a princess, making sure she understood that he wasn't going anywhere.

"Okay. . . um. . . what's the quadratic formula?" Walker asked, his phone set up on his desk as he ate his dinner. He had GCSE math questions on his pc screen, and was currently testing me on equations.

"Uh. . ." I puffed my lips as I thought, trying to wrack my brain.

"It's okay if you don't know it." Walker smiled, taking a bite out of his garlic bread.

"No, it's like, um. . . minus B, then. . . add or subtract, square root, B squared minus. . . 4 times A times C." I huffed as I tried to recall the ridiculously long maths equation.

"You've literally got it all. It's just the last bit." Walker said with pride, his eyes flickering up to his pc screen to double check.

"Then divide it all by 2 times A?" I said, but it came off as more like a question.

"Are you asking me or telling me?" Walker teased, although he knew that I had gotten it all correct.

"Oh, shut up! I'm. . . I'm telling you." I rolled my eyes, biting back a smile.

"Congratulations, Alexis Marie Lewis, you have officially gotten. . . 68% on your knowledge of mathematic equations!" Walker said in a posh voice, as he read out the score I got on the small test.

"That's awful." I frowned, picking at the ends of my hair.

"What?! That's incredible considering you got 23% when we did it the first time." Walker tried to cheer me up. "That's 45% progress you've made in an hour. Be proud, Lex, cuz I am."

"Thanks, Walk." I smiled, suddenly feeling a lot better about my score.

A knock came from my bedroom door and I allowed the person in. It was Harry. I was at his apartment for the night as I couldn't stand listening to my parents bickering, not when I had mocks to prepare for.

"You on the phone?" Harry asked, walking in the room and towards my bed.

"Yeah, it's Walker." I nodded, looking up at my brother.

"Oh, you alright mate?" Harry held a hand up as he poked his head in frame.

"Yeah, I'm good, how you doin'?" Walker waved slightly at the man.

"I'm good, lad, I'm good." Harry nodded.

My brother was pretty fond of Walker. He saw how he increased my mood and made me feel more confident in myself. He liked seeing me like that. It was better than me showing up to his apartment in the middle of the night, not being able sleep because of our parents arguing.

"It's 11, so bed now." Harry walked back towards the door. "I hate playing 'dad' or whatever, but please go to bed, you have tests tomorrow and I don't want you not doing shit because you 'can't be arsed' or whatever you say."

"I can't be arsed anyway." I grumbled, resting my head back on my headboard.

"Ha ha." Harry laughed monotonously. "Seriously, bed now. 'Night, mate!" He yelled to Walker.

"Night, Harry." Walker shouted back with a laugh.

Harry shut the door behind him and I saw the landing light flick off as he walked back into the living room.

"I've gotta go sleep, so I'll talk to you tomorrow." I sighed, getting up and turning my light off. I walked back over to my bed using my phone flashlight and flicked my bedside table lamp on.

"Alright, let me know how you do on that exam. I'm sure you'll be great, just believe in yourself." Walker said supportively. "Goodnight, Lexi."

"G'night, Walk." I smiled dreamily before hanging up the phone.

I grabbed my headphones from my bedside table and slipped them over my head. I connected my phone to them and clicked on Spotify. I closed my eyes as I listened to the imaginary world of Percy Jackson be softly spoken down my ears.

... 𝐁eing sat in an exam hall at nine o'clock in the morning on a Friday was not my ideal way of starting the day. But here I was, with no choice, sat in the most uncomfortable seat of my life and staring down at the maths paper in front of me.

There was an illustration of a cylinder, measurements surrounding it and a small amount of text underneath it, which read 'find the volume of the cylinder above'.

My brain turned to mush as I tried to think of everything I revised the night before, but the equation just wasn't coming to mind. I placed my hand on my forehead and rubbed my temple in frustration.

I thought about Walkers voice, and how he had been so encouraging the whole night. I tried to recall his voice repeating any of the equations.

"Pi times radius squared." No, that's area of a circle.

"Half times base times height." No, that's area of a triangle.

"Pi times radius squared times height." No, that was I couldn't remember what that equation was for.

Considering I could match the others up with their shape, I decided to try that equation. After putting all my numbers in place and typing them into a calculator, I decided that my answer seemed accurate enough to be real and wrote it down. I prayed to the maths gods that it was right.

Eventually, my torturous hour and a half of maths was over, and I left the hall with a deep sigh. I knew I had done terrible, considering half of the paper was left empty as I had no idea how to even begin answering the questions.

I now had a free period. Well, I didn't, but my english teacher was incredibly relaxed and realised her students wouldn't want to do much work after suffering practice exams for so long.

"I'll allow phones but don't be silly with them, and if another teacher comes in put them away immediately." She spoke, looking around at her class before back down at her computer screen.

I pulled out my phone with no hesitation, opening my messages app and texting someone.

... 𝐖alker answered the phone freakishly quickly, with one of his AirPods in and the other in his case. He had a wide, cheesy grin on his face and waved at me.

"Hey gorgeous." He greeted, trying to set his phone up at a decent angle where it wouldn't fall down. "What are you doing?"

"Well, I'm in the middle of english but my teachers chill as fuck so she's letting us do whatever." I answered, making sure one of my AirPods was on show so that I didn't look like a crazy person talking to myself.

"Nice." Walker nodded, jotting something down his teacher had said.

"Walker, can I have your other airpod?" A feminine voice called out from beside him, she wasn't in frame.

"I'm not listening to music." Walker said, looking at her. "I'm on the phone with mymy friend."

"Oh my God! Can I say hi?"

Walker shrugged and held the other AirPod out to her. She grinned and pushed her head into frame. She was beautiful. Her hair was long and dark and she had the greenest eyes I had ever seen.

"Hey! I'm Hannah!" She giggled, borderline sitting on his lap as she leaned on him.

"Hey, I'm Alexis." I replied awkwardly, holding my hand up.

As beautiful as Hannah was, her voice was very. . . what's the word? Annoying. Very stereotypical American girl accent, you know, the one everyone hates.

"Oh my God, are you British?" Hannah's jaw dropped as a grin overtook her face. "Is it football or soccer?"

"Football, obviously." I said simply, drawing on my hand.

"Okay." Hannah said awkwardly, breathing in through her teeth. "You don't need to be rude about it. . . can you say bottle of water?"

"Can you shut the"

I shot the girl a dirty look and finished my sentence after Walker had taken the AirPods out of Hannah's ear and put it in his own, meaning she had only heard the beginning and not the very foul ending to it.

"Hannah, just stop." Walker shoved her away, but I could still hear her pathetic giggling in the background.

He put his hand up in the air, waiting for the teacher to notice. "Can I go to the toilet, please?"

His teacher thankfully said yes, and granted him a hall pass. The moment he was out of the classroom he looked back down at his camera phone and smiled at the girl on his screen.

"What's up with you? You're more agitated than usual." Walker noticed, flashing the hall monitor his pass and slipping into the toilets.

"I just had a maths exam and it was awful. Like I actually want to cry." I whined, placing my head in my hands.

"No, it can't have been that bad." Waker tried to make me feel better, looking the cubical behind him as he stood in the stall. "We did revision last night."

"I know, but it's like I forgot everything!" I huffed, playing with my fake nails, a habit I'd picked up when I felt too much of one emotion.

"Okay, that's fine." Walker shook his head, his curls bouncing as he did so. "We can work on it, it's fine. When do you sit your actual exams?"

"Like. . . next year." I said, feeling a little embarrassed that I was stressing over something that was happening in a year's time, but that's what school did to you.

"See!" Walker exclaimed, smiling brightly at me. "We have plenty of time from now till then. You'll be okay, Lexi, trust me."

"I hope you're right." I sighed, resting my head on the desk and admiring Walker, just like he was doing to me.

"Besides, you get to see me next week, so cheer up!" He reminded me, seeming even more excited than I was. "Do you have any plans over the break?"

Walker was asking because 1. obviously he was interested to know what she was doing and 2. he needed to know when to work around. He wasn't about to spoil when he was visiting her, so he asked in the subtlest way possible.

"Um. . . yeah." I looked away from the camera as I thought. "Me and Becky are going out with Isaac and my friend Oscar on the Wednesday. . . Oh! On the Monday me, Becky and Maddy are having a sleepover. I think on the Friday we're all going around to Roman's."

"Oh, nice." Walker nodded, listening intently as I explained how busy my holiday was. "Wait, you're going out on Valentines?"

"Is Valentines the Wednesday?" I frowned, quickly checking my calendar app. "Oh, yeah, not for the whole day though. Isaac and Oscar have a rugby game that we're going to watch and then we're going into town with them after."

"Oh, okay." Walker mentally breathed a sigh of relief at the words 'not for the whole day'. "Have I met spoken to Oscar before?"

"No, I don't think so." I shook my head. "He's in my form class and my science lessons." I said. "Form is like homeroom or whatever."

"Or whatever?" Walker faked offence by holding his hand over his shirt. "Alexis Lewis, I am offended!"

"As much as I'd love to be in an American school and learning at an easier level. . . British school uses better words." I held my hands up in defence.

"To be fair, I don't like it being called homeroom. The only relevance to home that it has is that it makes me wanna go there." Walker snorted.

His remark made me let out a laugh, to which I covered my mouth with my hand and my cheeks went red as a few heads turned in my direction.

"Why do you cover your mouth when you laugh?" Walker asked through chuckles.

"I dunno, habit I guess." I shrugged, still smiling brightly.

"You should stop and show off your smile." Walker offered, looking off to the side as if he hadn't said anything.

"Very smooth, Mr Scobell." I smirked, resting my head in my palm and admiring his flawless smile.

"Thank you, I pride myself on it." Walker replied, also staring at me with awe and admiration.
