COBRA KAI
season two episode three
AS CLEMENTINE CAREFULLY unpacked her belongings in her new room, she felt a sense of calm and familiarity start to settle in. Just as she was organizing her books on the shelf, the door swung open, and in walked her older brother Spencer, a mischievous grin on his face.
"Hey sis, what are you doing cooped up in here? The festival is in full swing! We gotta go!" Spencer exclaimed, his voice filled with excitement.
Clementine's gaze lifted from her unpacking, a touch of irritation evident in her expression, yet she made a conscious effort to maintain her composure despite the interruption.
"Spencer, can't you see I'm busy? I just want to settle in for a bit," she replied, her tone tinged with a hint of frustration as Spencer playfully nudged her shoulder, trying to persuade her.
"Come on, Clem! It's the perfect opportunity to explore our new town and have some fun. Plus, I heard they have the best funnel cakes at the festival!" he insisted, his eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Clementine sighed, torn between wanting to explore and wanting to finish unpacking.
"I know it could be fun, but I really want to get everything organized first. Can't we go a little later?" she reasoned, her voice filled with a touch of compromise.
Spencer crossed his arms, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"Alright, I'll make you a deal. Help me find my lucky festival hat, and we'll head out right after," he proposed, a sly smile playing on his lips.
Clementine couldn't resist a challenge, especially when it involved her brother's quirky superstitions.
"Fine, deal. But only if we find it quickly. I don't want to spend all night searching for a silly hat," she agreed, her voice laced with determination.
With a determined smile, the siblings began rummaging through Spencer's boxes, laughing and teasing each other along the way. Eventually, they found the hat hidden beneath a pile of clothes, and with a triumphant cheer, they were ready to embark on their festival adventure.
"Alright, Spencer, you win. Let's go and make some unforgettable memories at the festival!" Clementine exclaimed, her voice filled with excitement and anticipation.
They locked their arms together and headed out the door, excited for the new experiences that awaited them in their new town.
ONCE THEY ARRIVED AT THE FESTIVAL, Clementine's eyes widened with exhilaration as they stepped foot into the bustling festival grounds. A surge of excitement coursed through her veins, prompting an exuberant scream to escape her lips.
"Spencer, look at all the rides! This place is absolutely mind-blowing!" she exclaimed, her voice filled with awe and wonder.
Spencer couldn't help but grin at Clementine's infectious enthusiasm. He grabbed her hand, intertwining their fingers, and pulled her through the lively crowd. "Come on, Clem, let's check out that hat booth I told you about. I have a feeling they've got some seriously cool stuff."
They made their way to a vibrant booth adorned with an array of hats, each one more eye-catching than the last. Clementine's eyes darted from one hat to another, unable to contain her excitement. Spencer's eyes lit up as he found the perfect hat and made the purchase.
"Alright, got my hat. Now let's go," Spencer said, tugging on Clementine's arm, eager to explore the rest of the festival.
But as they turned to leave, a soothing melody drifted through the air, wrapping around Clementine's senses like a warm embrace. She paused, her curiosity piqued, and turned to Spencer with a gleam in her eyes.
"Spencer, do you hear that music? It sounds so enchanting, like it's calling to me. I can't resist following it," she said, her voice filled with anticipation and a touch of mystery.
Spencer chuckled, recognizing that spark of adventure in Clementine's eyes. "Alright, lead the way, my fearless explorer. Let's see where this captivating melody takes us."
Clementine followed the sound, her steps light and eager, as they weaved through the crowd, guided by the enchanting music. The melody grew louder and more distinct, drawing them closer to a stage where a talented karate dojo was performing. They stood there, spellbound by the beautiful melody, their hearts moving slowly and showing off their bo staff and defense methods.
As Clementine stood there, completely engrossed in the enchanting performance by the Miyagi-Do students, her gaze was drawn to a particular boy on stage. There was something about him that piqued her curiosity, and in that moment, their eyes met. A smile passed between them, a silent connection that seemed to transcend the bustling crowd around them.
Just as Clementine was lost in this fleeting moment, Spencer, her ever-protective brother, nudged her gently. "Hey, don't overthink it," he said, his voice filled with brotherly concern. "Boys can be unpredictable. They might break your heart. But remember, I'm here for you, always."
Clementine couldn't help but roll her eyes at his words. She knew he meant well, but she also believed in taking chances and following her heart. Ignoring his cautionary advice, she returned her attention to the stage, eager to witness the rest of the captivating performance.
However, before the Miyagi-Do students could conclude their routine, an unexpected interruption occurred. Another dojo, with a bold presence and a chant of "Cobra Kai," pranced onto the stage, right beside the boy and his dojo. The peaceful atmosphere was shattered, replaced by an electric tension that hung in the air. It was a twist that no one saw coming, injecting a new level of excitement and uncertainty into the scene.
Clementine's eyes blazed with fiery indignation as she locked her gaze on the Cobra Kais. The audacity of their interruption during the performance ignited a surge of frustration within her. She felt a mix of disappointment and disbelief, her arms instinctively folding across her chest as she shook her head in utter disbelief. The Cobra Kais had crossed a line, and Clementine couldn't help but feel a surge of anger at their lack of respect for the performers and the audience.
As the crowd gravitated towards the other stage, Clementine and Spencer opted to stay behind. A smirk tugged at the corners of Clementine's lips as she let out a soft scoff. "What a bunch of Cobras," she muttered, her disdain evident. To her surprise, Daniel LaRusso chimed in, fully agreeing with her sentiment. "You got that right," he breathed out, causing both Clementine and Spencer to snap their heads around, their curiosity piqued.
Clementine's eyebrows knitted together before her eyes widened in sudden realization. "No way! You're Daniel LaRusso," she exclaimed, her excitement palpable. Her gaze then shifted to Samantha LaRusso, a look of admiration in her eyes. "And you're Samantha LaRusso! I'm a huge fan of your karate style. I've been dying to learn it!"
Daniel's laughter filled the air, his amusement evident. "Well, ain't that something?" he exclaimed, a twinkle in his eyes. He extended his hand towards Clementine, a friendly gesture that she eagerly reciprocated with a beaming smile. "I'm thrilled to meet a fan like you," he admitted, his voice filled with genuine appreciation. "It's crazy, but Cobra Kai has made a comeback. I've heard the rumors and the stories swirling around, and somehow, it's become a reality."
Sam let out a sigh of agreement, her nod confirming her sentiments. "Totally, it's awful," she replied, her voice filled with frustration. Her glare towards the Cobras spoke volumes about her disdain for them.
Meanwhile, Clementine shifted her gaze towards the stage before returning her attention to Sam and Daniel. "They're the worst. Honestly, I find your performance way more captivating than theirs," she declared, a hint of admiration in her tone.
Sam's frown deepened, her disappointment evident. "Well, at least you think so..." she trailed off, her voice tinged with sadness. She let out a sigh, her expression reflecting a mix of emotions. "So, you're new in town?" she inquired, her eyes narrowing slightly as she looked at Clementine. The nod from Clementine confirmed her suspicion. "Yep, I'm Clementine, and this is my brother, Spencer," she introduced, pointing towards her sibling standing beside her.
Daniel nodded, his curiosity evident as he furrowed his brows. "Nice to meet you both," he acknowledged warmly. "So, what brought you to this town?" he inquired, his voice filled with genuine interest.
Spencer cleared his throat. "Our dad was stationed up Northern California, but he wanted us to come live with our Aunt. Anastasia Katz." he explained as the boy who stood behind them, mouth dropped open. "Oh! I love her restaurant/brewery so much!" he exclaimed.
As Clementine's eyes met his, a smile slowly formed on her lips. It was undeniable — she found his green eyes incredibly attractive, especially how they accentuated his freckles. Her actions caught her brother's attention, who observed the interaction with curiosity.
Spencer shot a suspicious glance at his sister before turning his gaze towards the boy. "Who the heck are you?" he demanded, his tone firm and unwavering. He wanted answers, especially since he noticed the boy staring and smiling at his sister during their performance.
The boy grinned, his warm smile lighting up his face. "Hey, I'm Robby. I'm staying with the LaRussos for some personal reasons," he introduced himself, his voice friendly and inviting. Robby's gaze shifted towards Clementine, a smile playing on his lips. "Welcome to West Valley," he said, his words filled with genuine kindness. Clementine couldn't help but blush, a shy smile forming on her lips in response.
Clementine's mouth hung open in surprise, ready to voice her thoughts, but her brother swiftly intervened. "Well, it was a pleasure meeting you guys. We'll definitely run into each other again," he forced a smile that didn't quite reach his eyes, silently urging Clementine to follow suit. As they began to walk away, Clementine couldn't contain her curiosity any longer. She shot her brother a suspicious glance, her eyes narrowing. "What was that all about?" she probed, insinuating her brother's underlying bitterness towards Robby.
Spencer's eyes held a hint of understanding as he locked gazes with her. "Stick with Sam, she's seems like a solid good friend... but promise me you'll steer clear of Robby," he advised, his tone filled with concern. Confusion etched across her face, she couldn't help but ask, "Why?"
The Katz boy nonchalantly shrugged. "He seems sketchy, like he'd cause trouble if things escalated," he explained, causing Clementine to scoff. As they reached the car, she halted in front of him, her arms crossed. "You sound crazy. I don't think he's a problem. You've said that about every guy I've liked," she retorted, her voice filled with defiance.
He arched an eyebrow, a smug expression on his face. "And I've been spot on every time! Remember Markus? He tried to mess with you! I had to give him a good punch, and he ran away like a pussy," he fired back, a hint of pride in his voice. Clementine let out an exasperated huff. "Whatever. This time, you're dead wrong," she declared, shooting him a piercing glare. She circled around the car, slid into the passenger seat, and slammed the door shut behind her.
Spencer settled into the driver's seat, releasing a gentle sigh as he glanced at his sister. "I'm just looking out for you, you know?" he murmured, his voice filled with tenderness. Clementine remained silent, pulling the seatbelt across her body and securing it, her gaze fixed on the world passing by outside the window.
Spencer took the hint and started the car, and driving away once he pulled his seatbelt across in his hold and securing it.
