Is Kalani's face made of plastic or not? It's one of life's burning questions, and she will neither deny or confirm the answer. Most likely not, to be honest. She won the gene lottery. She doesn't believe it though. Under the years of Anna's 'reign', her face has always been caked on with makeup. It shouldn't have, really. Standing at 5'3, her dark brown waves complement her hazel eyes, that seem to glisten in the sunlight. She has plump lips, high cheekbones, and ever-perfect eyebrows. She has a very slim figure, with curves in just the right places, her skin tinted a naturally darker tan. Although a little bronzer doesn't hurt, right?

PERSONALITY :
Kalani is exactly what you'd expect someone from someone who'd always be considered 'second best'. Often very loud, and sometimes cocky and confident, she's a girl who will go lengths to get exactly what she wants. She gets very jealous very easily, and puts her cunning to good use when she sees anyone even remotely looking like they're doing her perky ass wrong. And girl is good at backstabbing. Too good. She gets you to trust her, you tell her your secrets, and then she runs her mouth 'by accident'. She is not afraid to say anything to anyone, no matter how much it may hurt their fragile little feelings. Sass runs through her veins, almost everything that falls out of her mouth'll be an insult, she's cynical, sly and it seems that it's extremely hard for her to trust people. It's not her fault half of the people she knows only have half a brain. She's a genuinely more seductive than flirty, but at the times she was single, she loved having to never shave her legs when she was in her silky, lingerie-like pyjamas. She's a total bitch, who takes pleasure in making fun of everybody. She's downright mean, and sometimes very demanding. Merciless, impatient, devious, and let's not bring up her streak of cruel tricks up her sleeve. And her temper. And the terrible things she's done to the people who she thinks did her wrong. Don't get on her bad side, because your balls will go flying.
However, deep down, she's just an insecure little girl, who has always been jealous of her best friend. She's insecure about her weight, her face, her height, and almost every aspect of herself. She's a perfectionist who needs to know everyone's opinion on her. She's someone who will toughen up when needed, but can easily break down because someone said she looked fat in an outfit. You'll see her looking at herself in reflective surfaces a lot, not because of vanity, but because of all her insecurities and imperfections. She thinks her imperfections and insecurities is every single little thing about her appearance. And then there was her jealousy. It fit her like a glove. Annabelle McWinters was the queen of the school, and as her best friend, Kalani was technically the self-proclaimed princess. Second-in-command. The person the queen wanted on the throne when she could rule no longer. And when 'Queen' Anna died, did 'Princess' Kalani take her rightful place on the throne? Nope. Taken by some usurper, and now Kalani is bitchier than she ever was before.

BACKSTORY :
Kalani was raised by a very blunt, fit and vain family. Her mother was constantly doing her makeup and hair, and her father always seemed to be at the gym when he wasn't working or having sex with her mom. Her older brother, Kaleb, made the feeling worse, when he married a personal trainer, and then became a personal trainer. Even her relatives were fit and pretty. So yes, she comes from a very self-concious family.

While her parents did care an awful lot about her, they were also very honest about what they had to say about her. And when she was around 11, she found that anything made her hungry. This lead to her overeating, overdrinking, and being a general lazy pig. She was overweight, and she didn't seem to notice. Didn't help that she was also very short compared to everyone else in her family. Of course her parents told her, and she was 11 so she didn't really care.

And then she started getting a lot more insecure about herself when it came to school. She wasn't popular, to say the least. I mean, she is now, but she wasn't then. No one seemed to have a crush on her, no one seemed to want to ask her out, and she couldn't help but envy all the pretty, tall, popular girls getting a new boyfriend every week at the age of 12-14. So she did something about it.

So Kalani got a gym membership, she went on runs, took dance classes and exercised instead of watching TV in her spare time. You think this is healthy, but she was also starving herself. Everyday she would skip breakfast. Then soon after that, she would skip lunch at school. The only meal she ate was dinner.

Her parents saw what was going on, and helped her recover slightly, apologising for what they said as they did. But natural beauty just wasn't a thing to their family. Genes could only take you so far.

After that, high school came around. Sophomore year, she was hardly recognisable. She was skinny as a pin now. And her boobs and butt had finally come in. Her mother bought her makeup, and her dad let her have almost-monthly hair appointments. Her new best friend, Annabelle, the popular one started coming with her. Their friendship was toxic. They'd lie to one another, Kalani would stab her in the back multiple times, and Anna would do the same. Anna is the reason Kalani isn't 100% confident in herself these days. At most, she was finally looking decent in her books, yet she is still very self-concious about everything.
