"You know, for someone with akwardly long legs you'd think you would be on time." Scout said sarcastically to Mike as he hurried to park his bike and meet his friends outside star court.

"I know, I know, i'm sorry." he apologized to her quickly. Before El came along, Scout and Mike had a unspeakable thing going on. It took her a while to get over the whole thing, but she had now completely. She didn't hold anything against Eleven either, she adored the girl more then she adored anyone else.

"We're gonna miss the opening." Will said with a huff as Mike looked his way.

"Yeah if you guys keep whining about it." Mike said as he grabbed Scouts wrist and drug her into the mall.

"Let me guess, you where busy-" Lucas began, cutting himself off by making kissing noises.

"Oh yeah, real mature Lucas." Mike rolled his eyes as Scout walked quickly to keep up with him.

"Oh, El. I wish we could make out forever and never hang out with any of our friends." Lucas mocked as Scout laughed slightly, Mike looking down at her with a look of disbelief.

"Lucas, stop." Max rolled her eyes as the boy chuckled.

"Scout and Will think it's funny." Lucas said as he looked between the two.

"Because it is." Will and Scout said at the same time.

"Yeah it's so funny that I wanna spend romantic time with my girlfriend." Mike said annoyed as Scout hummed.

"Romantic time? You mean making out in her room to some new song? Sooo romantic." Scout said sarcastically as her yellow coated eyelids stood out under the Starcourt lighting.

"You'll get it when you find someone Scout, you'll get it." Mike mocked her as they moved through the crowd of people.

"Gross no! I will never in my life be such a clique." she gagged as Mike rolled his eyes at her.

"Okay Scout, keep telling yourself that." Mike said as they walked into Scoops Ahoy as Mike began ringing the bell multiple times.

"Hey dingus, your children are here." Robin said as Scout jumped up on the counter, twisting her body to get on the other side.

"Again?" Steve asked as Mike gave him a look before Steve began to lead them through the small passage way to the movies.

"You hanging back?" Robin asked her as Scout nodded.

"Hate scary movies." she said with a shrug, fixing the yellow shorts as she jumped up to sit on the counter again. A loud ring was heard as someone cleared their throat, looking back, Scout rolled her eyes.

Tate Perez.

A boy in the same grade as Scout. They had a past, a tricky one. Summer of 84' Scout got invited to her first party outside of her nerdy friend group. Everyone was playing spin the bottle, naturally she got pushed into doing it too. Her and Tate shared a kiss, just a kiss. And she hated him after wards, she hated that they never spoke again when he was just walking around with her first kiss.

Tate had a bad rep too, one she would often times roll her eyes at. Detention nearly everyday, suspended quite a few times, and low grades then lovers lake was. And it wasn't that he wasn't smart, he actually kinda was. He just didn't try, he never did.

"Sorry to cut the girl talk short, but i've kinda been standing here a while." he said while crossing his arms, the black jean jacket rubbing together.

"A while as in two seconds?" Scout asked him sarcastically as he rolled his eyes at her.

"What can I get you?" Robin asked while walking forward as he cleared his throat.

"Large pretzel, hold the hot cheese." he said as Robin looked to Steve, who held a confused look.

"I'm sorry, we don't offer pretzels here." Robin said to him as she raised her eyebrows. Tate hummed in response.

"Doesn't really seem like a me problem." he said as Scout rolled her eyes.

"They don't sale pretzels at a ice cream shop! What world are you living in?" Scout asked him with a glare, feeling her blood boil by just looking at him.

"Yours, clearly." Tate answered her with a smirk and sarcasm dripping off his tongue. The lights suddenly went out, making them all gasp.

"Steve, what did you do?" Scout asked him in disbelief as Steve scoffed at her and began flipping the light switch up and down.

"That's not gonna work dingus." Robin said to him annoyed.

"Can I just get my pretzel?" Tates obnoxious voice was heard in the darkness.

"Oh yeah?" Steve asked Robin, ignoring the boy as he began flipping the switch up and down extremely fast until the power came back on.

"See? What I tell you?" Steve asked as Robin rolled her eyes.

"Sorry man, there's a pretzel shop right over there. If you double your order it's half off, but don't tell them I told you that." Steve said as Tate rolled his eyes and mumbled a whatever.

"Bye Scout." he said with a flirty tone, clearly being sarcastic as he waved his fingers her way before rolling his eyes and walking off, Scout sighed loudly as she leaned back into the wall.

"What was that about?" Steve asked while passing her the cup of cherry ice cream she always ordered.

"A very long story I really don't wanna get into." she said while putting a spoon full into her mouth.

The next day Scout got a call from her third cousin early that morning saying he was coming home from Camp a day before planned. Scout gathered the party no matter how hard it was and convinced them to hide at his house.

They all hid behind the wall, staying quiet as they heard Dustin walk in. El used her powers to move his old toys around, frightening Dustin as he mumbled about it being a dream over and over. They crept up behind him.

"Surprise!" Scout yelled loudly as Dustin screamed and turned around, spraying the hairspray Steve gave him into Lucas' eyes. The boy screamed loudly, dropping the banner to the ground quickly.

"Think you got it all?" Scout ask Lucas as her and Max stood side by side and watched Lucas try and get spray out of his eyes.

"Think so." Lucas said as he sat up and looked at the two, his eyes falling onto Max.

"Is that a new zit?" he asked her as Scout slapped her forehead in disbelief.

"What is wrong with you?" Max asked him while shoving his face back under the sink.

"Will! Where you guys going?" Scout called out as she saw the party walking out of the house.

"Going to meet Dustins new girlfriend!" Will called out with a smile as the trio shared a look.

"Girlfriend?!"

my loves didn't get much time together this chapter but it'll get better next chapter i swear!

this book is gonna flop so hard and i can already feel it.
