"Tom, this has to stop."

"Seriously, I just met you and you're already getting on my nerves."

"I know I work for you, but I'm gonna fire you."

Kevin Feige, Jon Watts, and Sydney Abraham sat down with Tom and Lilah for their required meeting about the new Spiderman movie. They were talking to him about his habit of leaking spoilers, and trying to find a way to control his mouth.

Beside him, Lilah had her lips clamped together to keep from howling with laughter. They had already discussed salary, screen testing with the side characters, the script, the title, and one other topic that Lilah actually couldn't keep from laughing at: Tom had suggested that he go undercover to an American high school.

Obviously, Lilah got that it was a joke, but Kevin immediately set it up, and said he would be going to a high school next week. Lilah was practically rolling on the floor by then.

"Sorry," Tom muttered, keeping his head down.

Jon flipped through his folder, crossing off a few lines of text. "Next thing... we're planning to have you two set up in a hotel for the next three weeks while we film here in New York, then you fly to Los Angeles and London for the Civil War premieres..." He gestured to Sydney to continue.

"Then we go to Atlanta for around three months, where you guys will be sharing a house-" she said.

"A whole ass house?" Lilah questioned.

"Together?" Tom asked, his voice slightly shaky.

"Well, yeah," Kevin said. "You guys share the lead, so why not save some money?"

"Wait," Lilah narrowed her eyes, "if we share the lead, then why is the film called Spiderman Homecoming?" Everyone in the room fell silent for a good thirty seconds.

Sydney went on, "-and then you two go to Berlin for a week for... what was it Jon?"

"The video diaries," Jon nodded. "A lot of Peter and Eliza's scenes in the video diaries I'm hoping will be improvised by you two, since you guys already seem to have a bestfriendship-ish connection."

"Awh, thanks," Lilah said, grabbing Tom's hand and holding it in hers. "We're really happy together," she fake sniffled. "And actually, I wanted to ask you something Tom..." Her sentence trailed off when she got down on one knee and pulled out a fake ring box. "Will you marry me?"

Kevin and Jon both had their mouths wide open, but Sydney just rolled her eyes.

Tom shoved her shoulder, muttering profanities all directed at her, which made Lilah grin wickedly.  "How long have you been planning that?"

She snickered, "Two weeks."

"Oh my god," he muttered, then turned to Kevin. "Can you fire her? I'd much rather prefer working by myself."

"Um, excuse me," Lilah said, getting back up on her feet. "As I recall, you said that you were oh so grateful for my presence, and that you were glad I was here to work with you."

He pointed a finger at her. "Imma take it back."

"Can't wait to see your attempt at taking back a compliment, Spiderboy," she smirked at him and pivoted to Jon, Kevin, and Sydney. Jon was hastily scribbling down notes on a piece of paper, and from the looks of it, it was their conversation.

Sydney said, "Are you a transcriptionist now? What's happening?"

"Nothing, just ideas."

She blinked, then turned back to Tom and Lilah. "Speaking of this whole bestfriendship-ish thing that's going on between you two-"

"I hate him."

"I hate her."

They gasped and whirled to face each other. "bABE!!!"

Jon scribbled down some more notes.

"-there are a lot of people out there that think you're dating. So we'll have to either confirm or deny those rumors pretty soon," Sydney pointed out.

"Both of our love lives are pretty disappointing, I don't see why people are so interested," Tom chuckled. Lilah opened her mouth to object, but he went on. "And Lilah don't even start, Freya is probably in this building as we speak."

She shut her mouth at that.

Kevin's brows furrowed together. "What's this about Freya? Freya Walker?"

"Yeah, she's the stunt coordinator," Jon said.

Lilah hissed at Tom, "Why would you bring her up in front of them?"

"We had to talk about it at some point, Lilah." He looked at her with pleading eyes.

Sydney slammed her binder closed, and they all looked at her. "Kevin and I have a plane to catch, you two need to get to your hotel because you have a big day tomorrow. And Jon, you need to meet with a kid named Jacob, who Tom will be screen testing with tomorrow."

"What do I get to do tomorrow?" Lilah asked.

Her agent made a face. "Um, I don't know. Go explore the city maybe? I heard you and a young lady named Zachariah were going to meet up?"

Lilah snorted. "It's Zendaya, but I'm sure she'd be delighted to hear that name."

"Right," Sydney said, then disappeared with Kevin out of the room.

Tom and Lilah turned to Jon, who was still hunched over his folder, scribbling away. They glanced at each other and shrugged, then made to leave. Just as they got to the threshold, Jon called out, "Lilah! I forgot to tell you, Rashida Jones is playing your mom."

Lilah tossed and turned on the soft hotel mattress, unable to fall asleep once more.

Her mind was all over the place. Nervous about starting to film a movie tomorrow about one of the most beloved Marvel superheroes, thinking about what Tom said regarding Freya, and for some odd reason, wanting to shave her legs.

She had energy that she wanted to expel, thanks to making a habit of running two miles every day for the past two months.

The mattress shifted when she turned to look at Tom, who was laying beside her. They had become accustomed to sharing a bed, and there was nothing romantic about it. Both simply didn't want to sleep on the couch at his parents house, and slept as far away from each other on the bed without falling onto the floor.

Occasionally during the night Tom's hand found hers, and she awoke smiling at their entwined fingers. Those were usually the nights when Lilah slept the longest.

However tonight, Tom was snoring softly, and his body spread across more than half of the bed, making it very difficult for Lilah to not touch him. She had been awake for the past four hours while he dozed, listening to his steady breaths, counting them, which had almost become a ritual every night.

She gazed at his sleeping figure, and found that she had to hold herself back from reaching out and tracing the soft curve of his arm, for whatever reason.

Lilah sighed, then squirmed out from under the covers, and fell onto the floor. Muttering a few profanities, she got to her feet and walked over to her suitcase. After changing into some more appropriate clothing, as quietly as possible, she snuck out of her and Tom's shared room and out into the hotel.

It was a very large building, with many floors and luxury carpets, but that was to be expected from a New York hotel.

Apparently getting out of that bed didn't stop the thoughts from circling around her brain, because as Lilah descended down the stairs at three in the morning, she couldn't help wondering what would happen two days from then.

Her and Tom spent the last two months reading the script together, training to be in 'superhero shape', and just becoming closer and closer by the hour.

Lilah was unquestionably excited about filming this movie, because she worked hard to prepare for it, but there was one scene in the script that she was doubtful about. It was the one where Eliza's mom, Anne, dies.

There was so much emotion that needed to be packed into that scene, and Lilah didn't know if she would be able to do it justice. And on top of that, working with one of her favorite actresses in said scene...

Lilah approached the lobby doors. She didn't really know what she was doing, just that she needed to get out of that room before she did something stupid. Before they left, Tom said that she was able to get almost three miles without stopping. Little progress when she looked at it from a distance.

They both agreed about a week after that first training session that there would be no more bloodshed, as Lilah liked to call it, so that they would be fresh-faced for this movie.

Lilah got out onto the cobblestone sidewalk and took a deep breath, shaking out her legs, hands, arms, rolled her neck. Then she took off running, and didn't stop until her her breath was ragged and her legs didn't feel like working anymore.

Tom was sitting on the edge of the bed, his eyes wide with fear, his head in his hands. He tried calling her cellphone, but she'd left it on the nightstand. He awoke almost just five minutes after she slipped out from underneath the sheets and walked out of the hotel.

The door to their room clicked open and Tom whipped his gaze upwards.

"Oh my god, Lilah." He got to his feet ran to her, almost knocking the breath out of her with the force of his hug.

"Ergh- get off me," she whisper yelled, pushing him away.

"Lilah you can't just leave at three in the morning and go off wandering in a city I've never been to! I was worried about you," he said, and just for good measure, added, "asshole."

Lilah rolled her eyes and pushed passed him, starting to take off her clothes. He continued talking.

"You could've gotten lost, or hurt, or-" he sighed. "You have to tell me if you're going to leave suddenly in the middle of the night." She took off her shoes and pants, then untied her hair, barely listening to his words. "What if you had been hurt by somebody on the street? What could I have done to help you?"

She stripped off her shirt and picked up a different one that had been discarded on the floor. "If I'd gotten hurt, I would've come back right away. But isn't the whole reason we practiced sparring so that we could fight? I would've kicked their ass," she muttered, padding to the bed and climbing in.

Tom ran a hand through his hair. He copied her movements, laying down on his pillow. "Just let me go with you next time or something."

Lilah was silent for a few heartbeats. "Not that it matters, but why do even care?" she asked quietly.

He thought about it. Why did he care? She was his friend, that's why. Because she was his friend, and friends care about each other. He stared up at the ceiling, his hands folded together on his abdomen. Maybe it was because he more than cared about her.

There was a line between them, and during the past two months he had managed to keep that line from blurring. Even if Lilah had no idea how much self control he had to exercise to keep from touching her every second of the day.

But she was off-limits to him. Too much work had been put in to keeping that line firmly placed for him to just ruin it all with his own thoughts.

He turned his head to the side to answer her question, but Lilah was soundly sleeping. His gaze fell down to the shirt she was wearing, the one she had picked up off the floor unknowingly. It was his.

⋆·˚ ༘ *🗡* ༘˚·⋆

The following day, at around noon, Lilah stood in front of the hotel, bouncing up and down on her feet. Tom had left their room two hours before that, going to the screen test with a guy named Jacob, while Lilah texted back and forth with her new friend, who told her to call her Z.

They were supposed to meet up in front of the hotel, and Lilah couldn't be more ecstatic.

Over the crowd of people on the sidewalk, she saw a tall woman with perfect eyebrows and perfect skin peering up at the hotel building. It was an effort for Lilah not to scream and run over to her in a giggle fit, but she didn't have to, because Zendaya did just that.

"AahahhahHAHhhahAHAHHAHa LILAHHHHHH," she screamed, running over with her arms wide open. Lilah resisted the string in her mind that threatened to recoil on herself, and embraced her. When she pulled back, she sighed. "I hate running, I'm never doing that again."

Lilah raised an eyebrow and glanced over her shoulder. "That was like fifteen feet."

"Shut up, I'm not a fucking superhero like youuu," she said, lightly punching her on the shoulder. Lilah smiled sheepishly.

"It's pretty crazy..."

"Well you can tell me all about it at lunch. Or tomorrow because we're filming a movie together??? That's what's pretty crazy."

Daya swung an arm around Lilah's shoulders and Lilah fought the urge to draw back. She's not going to hurt you, Lilah thought, then smiled at her new friend and descended down the street.

Tom was lying on the bed in his and Lilah's shared hotel room, scrolling through his phone, when the door opened and Lilah stumbled in. Literally. Then she fell on her ass.

It was silent for a long ten seconds before Tom spoke up. "You okay?"

"Ouch," she mumbled. Her head popped up at the foot of the bed, and he caught a glimpse of a new book in her hands.

"Did you go book shopping today?" he asked.

She got up to her feet. "No, actually. Z lent me this book, so I'm going to ignore you for six hours while I read it."

"Why aren't you nice to me anymore?" Tom whined.

"Pshh, I'm nice to you. Sometimes." Lilah took off her shoes and jacket, making her way to the bathroom to change. Tom sat up in the bed.

"Well, sure. When you first met me. But now you're just moody all the time."

She called from the bathroom, "Okay, tell me how I'm supposed to be nice to you."

He thought for a minute, while Lilah came out of the bathroom in more comfortable clothing, her glasses back on. She picked up the book Z had lent her and jumped onto the bed, nestling up against the headboard.

"You could... snuggle me more, give me compliments, do stuff with me, not give me that look on your face," he chuckled.

"I already do those things though."

"Yeah, but without the insults."

"Ah." Lilah pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose, threw the covers over her lap, got overall comfortable, and started reading. Tom laid down on his pillow, gazing up at her.

"Hey Lilah?"

She sighed, "Yes?"

"Can you read to me?" he asked quietly.

Lilah was fairly certain that her heart skipped a beat at his words, but she managed a slow nod. Tom smiled and shifted in the bed so his head was closer to her body. She drew in a shaky breath, cleared her throat, and began reading.

He focused on the story, on her voice, as the story progressed. At some point in the three hours that Lilah read, she stopped because of the realization that she had been doing some of the character's voices, but Tom didn't seem to notice—or mind. So she continued.

It was a very short book, only around two hundred pages, and eventually Lilah got so into it that she almost forgot she was reading aloud. When her voice started to become hoarse, Tom gradually moved closer so he could hear her. So close, in fact, that his head rested in her lap.

When the book was finished, Lilah sighed and rested her head back against the headboard. It was around dinner time, so they were both pretty hungry. After finishing the book, it was quiet for a good ten minutes, until Tom pulled on her legs, bringing her down to lay next to him on the pillow. His hands fell to her waist, and tugged her closer to him.

He buried his face in the crook of her neck. "I have an idea," he murmured onto her skin. She hummed in response, her eyes fluttering closed. "It's probably really stupid, but I've always wanted to get one-"

"Is it a Spiderman tattoo?"

He pulled back from her neck to glance up at her. "How'd you know?"

"You talk in your sleep," she smiled a little. "Actually, I saw a tattoo parlor when I went out today..." He grinned mischievously at her, then pressed a kiss to her forehead. She grinned right back.

⋆·˚ ༘ *🗡* ༘˚·⋆

"That was either one of the best or worst ideas we have ever had," Lilah said. Tom nodded in agreement.

"I'm thinking it was the worst," Daya said, examining the bottoms of both their foots. The Spiderman symbols were marked in black ink, hanging from a few webs.

"Were you guys drunk?" Jacob asked.

"No," they said at once.

The four of them were sitting in Tom's trailer, checking their tattoos. There were a lot of scenes that they needed to film that day, since they were only in New York for a few more days before Tom and Lilah had to go to the Civil War premiere. Last night after getting the tattoos, while both of them were in immense pain, they thought it was the perfect time to pack in more of the script.

"Did it hurt?" Jacob questioned.

"Like a bitch," Lilah said with a grimace.

"Why would you do this?" Daya asked.

"It was fun," Tom shrugged.

A knock sounded at his trailer door, which meant that him and Lilah were needed for their scene. Both of them were already in costume, so all they had to do was pull their shoes and socks on and leave.

This particular scene, Jon said that there wasn't much to go off of, so try and improvise if they could.

When he called action, and Tom switched into a Queen's accent, both of them just kind of... fell into the scene. The camera was far away from them, so they had microphones attached to their chests so everyone could hear. They had blocked off an entire street for this one part of the movie, so a little nerve came with filming it.

"I actually thought the hotel in Germany was pretty good," Eliza said, walking down the street. "Except for when you got shaving cream all over the bathroom."

"What's wrong with that?"

"You don't have any facial hair, Peter. What was even the point?"

Peter rolled his eyes. "The point is, Captain America dropped an airway on top of me, and you only got thrown into a car and almost broke your back. It's not fair."

Eliza eyed him. "I think our standard for pain is becoming a little too insignificant."

"You know it's your fault, Eli."

She blinked at him. "How."

"It's your fault for stopping a bus with your bare hands, now all I want to do is try and be better than you." There was a hint of a smile on her lips.

"Wow. Never knew I could intimidate you, Parker." They smirked at each other.

"Cut!" Jon called. "That was great! Reset in tow, Rachel on hair and makeup! Where's Rachel?"

Lilah turned to Tom. "Where did the nickname Eli come from?"

He shrugged. "I don't know. Just felt right." Her face scrunched up in pain. "Your foot hurt?"

A short nod. "I was trying so hard not to limp back there." Tom let out a laugh.

A/N- this chp was all over the place but wHaTevEr. also, sarah pidgeon's voice is honestly one of the most beautiful sounds i've ever heard
