Marisa Tomei. Marisa Tomei was on set. She had been on set once before, but that was for scenes with Tom. And there she was, standing in the same room as Lilah, laughing with the producers and getting ready for their scene.
It was hard not to both: stay paralyzed with shock and stare her with her mouth wide open, and bombard her with complements for her past movies. During the early two thousands when she was home alone and taking care of Anabel while her parents were at work, she spent a lot of time watching movies from the nineties, including My Cousin Vinny.
They were filming the extra extra scene now, where Aunt May comes in and gives Eliza and Peter ice, but doesn't know why her and Peter were beat up in the first place.
It was uncomfortable for Lilah in the slightest because of the position that her and Tom had to be in for the scene, but if she was being completely honest, she kind of enjoyed it. Tom had to lay his head in her lap, because apparently Eliza and Peter did that a lot.
When Joe called action, Lilah was basically transported into her character, forgot about her surroundings, the fact that a camera was in her face, and just became... Eliza.
From another room, Marisa yelled, "So who was it? Who hit you guys?"
"Some guy," Tom answered, shifting his head in Lilah's lap to play with his web shooters. He muttered, "Why is it so itchy?"
"Well maybe if you took it off and stopped playing with it-" Lilah murmured back, a small smirk appearing on her lips.
"What's some guys name?" Marisa asked, still yelling from the 'kitchen'.
"Uh... Steve," Lilah shouted back. Tom glanced up at Lilah and she shrugged. He was still playing with his web shooters, and he accidentally pressed a 'button' that would project a spider symbol. Both of them looked up at the ceiling, pretending to be really shocked. One of the crew members from beside the camera reflected a red light on their faces to make it look more real.
Marisa- or, May, was still asking them questions about who this Steve guy was, Tom said he was from Brooklyn, she came back in the room with an ice pack for when Peter had gotten punched in the face by Ant-Man.
When she got up, both Lilah and Tom simultaneously said, "Love you May..." Tom added in, "Hey can you shut the door?" To which Marisa squinted at him, glanced at Lilah in a suggestive manner, then slowly closed the door. Lilah shook her head and chuckled a bit.
Both of them sat up and faced each other criss-cross on the bed, then looked back at the red hologram, which projected a spider emblem on the ceiling, and smiled.
Joe called cut, and they both high fived each other. "Why did you say ouch like that???" Lilah laughed, "You sounded like a wounded animal." Tom cackled and then shoved her over on the twin sized bed.
"And that's a wrap on Captain America: Civil War!!" Anthony and Joe yelled at the same time. The entire crew erupted into cheers and claps, whooping and yelling. The rest of the cast, who had apparently been watching them behind the camera were there as well, celebrating together.
"Alright see you guys in eight months," Mackie said jokingly, making everybody laugh.
Lilah furrowed her eyebrows as Tom was standing up from the prop bed. "Eight months?"
He swiveled around to face her. "Well, yeah. Except we meet in March for screen testing for our movie together, but the premiere is in May."
Lilah's face appeared to fall entirely. She wouldn't be seeing any of these people that she had come to think of as her friends, for eight months?
And Tom, she would miss him the most. He had easily become her best friend, and also the first person to ever actually care about her as an individual. The first person to want to get to know her, to attempt at being her companion or want to hang out with her.
Tom tilted his head to the side as he watched Lilah go deep into her thoughts. Whatever it was that she was thinking about looked to be putting a damper on her mood, where she had been laughing with him just a few minutes ago. That beautiful, entrancing, and loving laugh.
He was snapped out of his thoughts by Scarlett calling over to them, "Hey guys! We're having a wrap party at the hotel, you wanna come?"
He plastered a smile on his face and told her over his shoulder that they'd be there. He put a hand out for Lilah to grab, if she wanted to. And to his surprise, she took his hand and didn't pull it back right away, holding it until they exited the set.
The smile that played on his lips the rest of the night wasn't entirely because of the party, or that they had just wrapped filming a multi-million dollar movie.

"SHIT!"
Tom and Harrison, who were packing their bags in the next room over, quickly glanced at each other. "Did you hear that?" Haz asked.
Tom nodded, confused. "I think it was Lilah."
Both of them scrambled to their feet and ran to her room, then knocked on the door. She answered it after two knocks. She was dragging a hand through her hair and had her glasses on, looking very stressed out. Behind her, Harrison could see her clothes scattered all around her bed with an open backpack.
"Do you have a suitcase?" he asked.
"N-no."
Her breathing was steadily getting faster, he could tell. He went to nudge Tom in the side, but he just stood still, looking at Lilah.
"What's wrong with you-" he started, but then saw what he was actually staring at. Lilah was wearing a sports bra, shorts, and almost knee high socks, but that was it. He was staring at her body.
It was clear why she was chosen to play a Marvel superhero, she was very fit. Her abdominal area was incredibly toned, her legs were covered in bruises from god knows where, and her arms were very muscular, but not so much to be bulky, just to be a strong ass woman. (a/n- lmao can't relate)
"Y-you guys- um, I'm having a problem," she said, rubbing her forehead.
"What's your problem?" Tom asked, clearing his throat and trying to look her in the eyes. Her eyes... there were tears in her eyes. Tom's face immediately filled with concern, but before he could comfort her, she turned around, leaving the door open for them to come inside.
A scar about four inches long on her lower back caught his eye. It looked terrifyingly like a knife cut. His eyes widened as she whirled around to face them.
"I-I don't have anywhere to go," she said. "Sydney kicked me out, my parents- I don't even think they know I work with famous actors, they haven't called me in ten months. My sister is going all over the country, my other sister even a place to stay in her dorms. And I-I'm just staying in a hotel and couch surfing-"
While Lilah continued rambling on, sweat started to bead on her forehead, her face becoming pale. Tom nodded to Harrison, silently telling him to go get some ice from down stairs. She probably didn't actually need it, he just needed to be alone with her.
Lilah's eyes, which had been darting around the room frantically, shifted up to meet his. "Tom what am I going to do?"
He took a step forward, and she took a step back. She could see a flash of hurt in his eyes, but he didn't say anything about it, just reached his hands out and put them on her shoulders. Just that small touch made her face focus on his completely, like nothing else existed. Darkness floated all around her, and the only light in the world was coming from where ever his finger tips were.
"I'm gonna try something right now," Tom said quietly, "And I can't promise it's going to go okay, but..."
Very slowly, he took another step towards her, so their feet were almost touching. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders, and Lilah's breath caught in her throat. She went completely still for about a minute, but Tom held her tightly.
When Lilah realized she wasn't moving, she leaned her head into his chest, seeking warmth from the cold that was her own thoughts. Everything in her body seemed to incline into his as she wrapped her arms around his torso. She heard Tom let out a breath of relief and hold her closer to him, her face still buried into his chest.
He smelt like mists of water in the salty ocean, like citrus and sandalwood, like home.
Lilah had learned in english class during high school, the definitions to many many different words, one of them including the word: home. Ms. Lopez, her english teacher, told her that home wasn't a place, it was a feeling.
To which Lilah had answered by scrunching her face up in disgust. It sounded too cheesy. But maybe the reason she had had a neglect to the word home before, was because she had never felt that feeling.
She stopped her thoughts from going further along that path.
Her breathing had slowed down considerably, and she tried to center her attention on something other than where Tom's hands were. They had shifted from around her shoulders to steadily down and towards her lower back. His hands were soft, except for the small calluses on his palms that made her shudder whenever they grazed against her bare skin.
Whatever repulsing she had had against his touch, the contact of his hands against even just her arm, was completely wiped away. She wanted to stay in his touch, in that hug, in that moment, forever. Never leave his arms. Never leave the only place where she had felt truly safe.
She wanted to bury even deeper into his warm chest, but Tom made to pull away, and she released. Her body felt cold all of a sudden.
Probably because she wasn't wearing a shirt.
Previously, during her meltdown, she felt like her body would overheat with sweat, so she took it off. It's as simple as that. But it was a bit embarrassing that both Tom and Harrison had seen her without it on.
"You alright?" Tom asked, flitting his eyebrows up.
She nodded silently, not meeting his eyes. All her thoughts just a few moments ago were messing with her brain, and if she looked back at him, it was a possibility that she would just want to throw her arms around his neck and never let go.
Someone banged on the door. Lilah cleared her throat and went to answer it. Outside the door was Freya, Sebastian, and Harrison, who had suitcases and tape in their hands, and were standing in a Charlie's Angels pose. Lilah raised her eyebrows at them.
"Heard you needed some help!" Sebastian exclaimed. She glared at Harrison, who just shrugged.
Freya looked over her shoulder at the bed that had all her clothes on it. "Is that all your clothes?" Lilah nodded sheepishly. "Bitch- we need to go shopping."
For a faint second, Lilah was surprised by her language. Apparently work Freya and normal Freya were two very different people. Usually at work, which didn't even feel like work, when they would fake spar, Freya was very demanding and scary. But maybe that was the reason she was a stunt coordinator. Gave her some self control.
Sebastian got up off his place on the ground and pushed passed Lilah to go into her room. By way of greeting, he said to Tom, "Is this all of her stuff?"
"I think so."
"It's mostly books," Lilah pointed out.
"Okay now we really need to go shopping," Freya said. With no warning, she grabbed Lilah's arm and dragged her towards the door. Before she could pull away from her hand, or even reject the offer to go shopping, they were at the door.

Tom watched her go out of the door, come back in and get a shirt, and leave with one final smile aimed at him. He watched the door for a few moments afterwards, wishing she would come back and hug him again, but she didn't.
He had never felt so... warm inside while hugging someone.
The sort of coldness and frost that had covered Lilah's skin when he first met her, the closed off and sheltered part of her, he felt like it all completely melted away when he embraced her in his arms.
"Tom, if you don't come and help us with these boxes I'm going to stick you out on the balcony," Sebastian said.

Freya and Lilah walked down the cobblestone sidewalks of a small strip mall in Atlanta, carrying bags upon bags of clothes that Lilah certainly didn't need or want.
'You at least need a pair of heels for the red carpet,' Freya had claimed.
But did she though? I mean if she was being completely honest, who really cared if she wore her converse on the red carpet? They were comfortable, and didn't have to be strapped onto your feet by three different people at a time.
Freya sighed from beside her. "Did you seriously have to buy three new pairs of the same shoes?"
"In my defense, they're three different colors," Lilah pointed out.
Freya just rolled her eyes dramatically, and continued walking. They passed several stores, all that had amazingly decorated insides that intrigued the pair a lot. One of them, was a cupcake shop. And because apparently because Freya was starving to death, they ventured inside for a while.
She pointed up at the menu, "Do you think if I say that it's my birthday they'll give me a free cupcake?"
Lilah said quietly, "I think they can hear you."
The woman behind the counter, clad in a comical white and blue uniform, glared at Freya darkly.
"Oops."
Lilah chuckled. She wondered if it was worth pointing out that her own birthday was in a few days, but Freya probably wouldn't care, so what was the point?
They ended up ordering some red velvet pastries, and sat down at a small table towards the back of the bakery. It was silent for a while, until Freya spoke up. "So back at the hotel, I saw you and Tom in there," There was a small smirk on her face. "Are you guys..." The silence that followed after her 'question' was pretty suggestive.
Lilah raised her eyebrows and shook her head, "No I just kinda had a meltdown, he helped me a little." That was an understatement.
"Oh. Are you okay?" She could hear the concern in her voice, which was very unnecessary.
"Yeah yeah yeah, I'm fine. I was just a little stressed about where I'm gonna go tomorrow when everyone leaves." She waved a hand and took another bite of cupcake.
Freya's brows knitted together. "You don't have a place to stay?" She shook her head. "Well why don't you stay with me in New York?"
Lilah almost choked on her cupcake. "What?! No, I'm not going to do that."
"Why not?" she asked.
"Because!"
"That is not a valid reason."
Lilah crossed her arms over her chest and glared at her. "I'm not going to live with you in New York, because I would take up your space."
"Lilah, I saw how much stuff you have back there. You have less stuff than a homeless person."
"Technically I am a homeless person."
"Exactly why you should stay with me!"
"Bu-"
"Come onnnn, I have an extra bedroom that's completely empty, but if you don't like that room you can always sleep on the couch, I wouldn't mind having a whole room for just my clothes," she winked. "Also there's this girl that just moved in across the hall that you'd probably like."
Lilah groaned. Freya was making it really hard for her to say no. And the fact that her and Tom would start filming in New York anyways was yet another reason to stay.
"Fine."
"What?!"
"I'll stay with you," she muttered, then held up a finger. "But only if I pay half the rent and cook you breakfast every morning."
Freya smiled, "Works for me."
A girl who was sitting at the table behind them walked up to their table nervously. It looked like she had been waiting a while to talk to them.
"Hi, my name's Grace." Her full attention was fixed on Lilah. "I-I was wondering if I could have a picture with you?"
"Me?"
Grace nodded and smiled. "I saw you in the Civil War teaser trailer earlier today, I'm really excited to see it."
Lilah's mouth dropped open in shock. "Really? That's awesome! I haven't even seen it yet," she laughed. There was a bit of an awkward silence while they Grace just stood there. "Oh! Right, the picture."
Lilah got up out of her seat and Grace held up her phone for a selfie. It was a really weird and new situation for her to be in for the first time. But she supposed that she was going to have to get used to it.
"Hey, are you okay if I post this on my Instagram?" she asked Grace.
"Are you serious? That would be great!" she exclaimed.
Lilah posted the photo on her story and said bye to Grace, then went back to her seat with Freya. She was smiling at her. "What?"
Freya sighed. "You've got to get better at that kind of thing."
lilahangelo posted on her story...
