"Altman, Sloan, you're on first," Owen threw the jerseys at Teddy and Mark.
Everyone had met in the main conference room to go over their plan for the game tomorrowโwhich they for sure were going to lose.
Bailey entered the room, late to the meeting.
"Oh, Bailey, you're center field," Owen read off the lineup April made earlier this morning.
"We're doing some shuffling," Henry nodded at Bailey, looking through the box.
"What are you doing here?" Bailey asked, hands on her hips.
"I work here," Henry looked down at Bailey.
"Uh, I may not even make the game," Bailey picked up a jersey from the box. "I got forty-nine trial patients left to call. I gotta give them the same bad news I gave you."
"Ouch. That's rough," Henry raised his chin. "We need a sub for center field," Henry turned to Owen.
"Yeah. Uh, Shepherd, pitcher," Owen read.
"Shepherds out," Mark clenched his jaw. "He told me his brain surgery could be a marathon."
"Oh! Me," Teddy volunteered, raising her hand excitedly. "Let me pitch."
Owen and Henry nodded, sharing a lookโthis was their last resort.
"Alright, Altman, pitcher," Owen sighed.
"Yes!" Teddy cheered.
"Sloan, first," Henry read off the paper.
"Shepherd can be a pinch hitter."
"Okay, Torres, you're on," Owen turned towards Callie.
"I need you to sign this," She put the clipboard over the line up chart.
"Bone plates and titanium mesh? That's a lot of hardware," Owen said as Charlotte drowned the conversation out.
"Can we just get on with this?" Charlotte rested her head on her arms on the table.
"It's okay," April gave Charlotte a sweet smile.
"That's a stretch," Charlotte scoffed.
"Okay what is your problem?" April's attitude changing fast.
"I thought you said this guys hand wasn't salvageable," Owen lifted his eyebrows.
Charlotte sighed, "Nothing. I'm fine."
"Yeah, well, I'm gonna try and rebuild it," Callie beamed. "It's gonna be really cool. Charlotte, April, meet me in the O.R."
"Is your attitude fixed now?" April smiled excitedly.
"Definitely," Charlotte lied.
She was definitely a bit happier, but not fully. She didn't know when she would be unless she fixed this jealousy thing.
Why was she jealous?
Who knew.
April wasn't hersโand she wouldn't be. Not as long as she was the hospital whore.
"I need a small," Lexie looks at Henry.
"Oh, they're all larges," Henry looked into the box along with Lexie.
"What?" April's mood changed again. "No. We can't be out of smalls already. I told them we needed an assortment of sizes. I.. I was very clear on the phone."
"Were you?" Charlotte rolled her eyes, grabbing a jersey out of the box and leaving the room.

"Okay, so this will hold his hand in place so I can see the tendon and nerve gaps, andโ" Callie held up the drill ready to start the procedure as April cut her off.
"What the chief doesn't realize is that a lot of the work I do makes it possible for these surgeries to take place," April said.
Callie looked up at April through her eyelashes in annoyance. She turned the drill on, in hopes the wiring would drown out April's rant.
"I mean, all theโ all the staffing and scheduling, Iโ I mean, maybe, okay, maybe I'm not in the O.R. all the timeโ"
"April," Callie said, in hopes of getting her to stop ranting in the middle of a complex surgery. "Do you want to be an administrative assistant? Is that what makes your heart sing?"
"No, of course not," April said. A lot of things make her heart singโincluding the girl sitting next to
herโbut that does not.
"Then stop being a whiner. Stop hiding behind paperwork. If you love it, do it. Just get in the O.R. Okay? Don't sleep, don't eat. Just do this," Callie handed April the drill.
"You want me to place the k-wire?" April asked with wide eyes.
"Will it make your heart sing?" Callie did a little dance.
"Yes," April laughed, her eyes shining in the O.R. light. "Yeah, right."
Charlotte had to admit, it was a sight. But did April do it on purpose? This was Charlotte's specialty. Her special would be Fetal or General. And maybe it was wrong of her to thing that.. but it was. She cared too much to work with bones.
Charlotte watched, unsure of how this was going to go.
"Okay, placing the wire," April talked herself through the steps.
"Okay. Oh, you're a little too far to the left," Callie pointed.
"Okay, I got it. Sorry," April apologized, moving the wire over a bit.
"There you go," Callie nodded.
This wasn't about torturing Charlotte at allโthis was Callie's plan all along.
"There you go," Callie nodded. "Right there. Good. That's all right."
The monitors start beeping and April's eyes immediately fill with worry.
"I didn't do anything," April breathed. "I swear."
"Damn it," Callie cursed. "No, just stop. What's going on?" She asked the anesthesiologist.
"I don't know, but his pressure's tanking," The anesthesiologist shook his head. "I'm hanging blood."
"It looks like electrical alternans," April observed.
"He's tamponading," Charlotte stood.
"What the hell?" Callie stood as well. "Page cardio."

"That was an amazing surgery," April beamed of sweat and a successful surgery.
April followed Charlotte down the hallway who was trying to make her way down to the E.R.
"Yeah," Charlotte replied half-heartedly.
"Okay, what is your problem?"
"What do you want, April?" Charlotte stopped abruptly. "Do you want to be a general surgeon? A cardio surgeon? Or a orthopedic surgeon? Pick a damn specialty and go with it. We've all chosen one."
"No, that's not true, Meredith hasn't," April pointed out, still thinking their messing with each other. The woman crossed her arms when Charlotte didn't chuckle along with her. "You've been acting different ever since you stood up for meโ which I thought was really kind. And we should hang out again. I don't think we have since the night you opened up to me," April inched forward, placing her hand on Charlottes shoulder.
"I don't want your pity," Charlotte jerked away, clenching her fists.
"Oh. I'm notโ"
"Don't even try to deny it, either. You know you're doing it. I told you that with full confidence, April, come on!" Charlotte said, rage pouring off of her.
"I'm sorry.. Iโ"
"No, no, no, let me guess," Charlotte laughed bitterly. "You thought you were helping?"
April stands there anxiously, looking around at the nurses that were staring at the pair.
"I thought you changed,"
Charlotte's nose flared as she nodded, "Changed? For you? I've never changed, April. This is who I've always been, and will always be. The hospital whore, I sleep with people left and rightโand I'm an asshole. Get over it."
April's mouth fell open, and she couldn't help but let the tears stream down her face.ย
"I can't believe I stopped sleeping around for you," The brunette scoffed.
"You.. what?" April couldn't believe what she was hearing.
"Nothing. Just leave me be, April, alright?"
With that, Charlotte left April standing there in tears.

Everyone on the Seattle Grace team cheers as Derek steps up to the plate to bat.
The team shakes the fence in excitement, and shout encouraging messages to the anxious neurosurgeon.
"Come on! Knock it out!" Alex encouraged.
"You got this!" Charlotte half-cheeredโnot in a much better mood than yesterday.
"Let's go, Shepherd!"
Seattle Pres pitches, and Derek hits it spot on, hitting it into the outfield.
The doctors squeal in excitement for the doctor as he runs.
"Get it!" Brad shouted over the cheering.
Derek continues running as one of the doctors in the ugly yellow jerseys catches the ball.
The cheering ceases as Derek stomps.
"Alright, alright, alright, Karev your on secondโBrown your on third. Let's get out there and get it back. Let's do it!" Owen cheered.
"We're down eight nothing," Meredith said, tipsy once again.
"We're screwed we should just call it now," Alex shouted gruffly.
"Maybe he's got something to prove," Cristina joined in.
The group switched from in-field to out-field, everyone on the urge of quitting.
Meredith and Cristina crowd around Charlotte, sharing the liquor.
"Off-pump quintuple cabg," Cristina slurred. "Do you have a pen?"
"What are you doing?" Meredith pressed her lips together.
"I'm making a list," Cristina bent her knees with excitement. "Teddy told me to make a bucket list of surgeries. I kept the faith, Mer. Who thought that would pay off."
"It's not paying off for me," Meredith took a sip.
"Me either, Mer, me either," Charlotte's eyes surveyed April from behind.
"Stop staring," Cristina yelled through her cupped hands.
"You yelled at her," Meredith crossed her arms.
"Yeah, whatever," Charlotte rolled her eyes.
