"Now, I'm sure that most of you have heard of new students attending Cambridge High." Principal Valencia exclaimed, her booming voice being heard even in the back of the gym. The school had called an emergency assembly due to the 'distress' the students might've felt because of the rumored new kids; hearing the news of new students flying in from England to attend a public school in San Diego caused quite a stir.
As rumors started to float around school grounds, everyone became quite excited to meet the teenagers; well, everyone except for Jillian Violet Norwood. As she cocked her head towards her best friend, Tiffany Melia Harrington, she rolled her eyes at their principal, astonished that the school board made such a big deal out of such a small difference. Taylor leaned towards Jill, her blonde, wavy hair brushing her shoulder.
"Look, Jill," she whispered to the annoyed girl, "I don't see why you aren't more excited about meeting new people; they're the only thing that makes school worthwhile. Besides, everyone else is thrilled to meet them, so you should too!" Tiffany straightened her back and brought her attention back to the stage. The blonde was more than happy to meet new people, allowing her have even more classmates on her good side for the upcoming student council election.ย
Tiffany had been the school president for the past two years at high school, the captain of the cheer squad, and had been a lead in nearly every school play. She's extremely involved in her school and wants to help them in every way possible. Tiffany was even more positive about the new students if they were boys, granting her a chance at romance.
It was a surprise that Tiffany and Jill were such close friends, the both of them being exact opposites. Tiffany was peppy and knew everyone in the school, her enthusiasm blinding to nearly every person she met. But, Jill was quiet and never bothered anyone; her nose was always stuck in a book, either studying or reading for her own entertainment. Although, once their closest friend, Lily, unexpectedly ceased her yearly visits in the Summer, they realized they're was more to each other than a quiet bookworm and a overly-spirited cheerleader.
Jill nodded her head at Tiffany and directed her attention back to the stage, listening in case Tiffany missed anything; she doubted she would though, her friend's ears pricked up in anticipation.
"So, I'm here to rid the false news." Ms. Valencia continued, and the crowd of teenagers started to boo the teacher; their school was filled with gossip, and without it, most of them would have nothing left to do except ditch school. The teachers around the auditorium brought their finger to their mouths, shushing the trouble-makers and forcing them to be silent. Ms. Valencia looked around the room, narrowing her eyes at certain kids, and took a deep breath.
"Before I was so rudely interrupted," Principal Valencia scowled, the kids groaning in exasperation. "I was about to explain there will be new kids attending our school for the next year or two, and they will be transfer students from England." The gym exploded with comments ranging from whispers to yells, the voices bouncing off the walls of the auditorium.
"Oh my god!" Tiffany exclaimed, her eyes wide with excitement as she placed her hands on Jill's shoulders and shook them vigorously. "They're going to have accents! Oh, please let them be juniors..." Jill shrugged off Tiffany's gripping hands as she crossed her fingers for good luck.
"And I thought you couldn't get any more annoying." Jill sighed, unzipping her backpack under her chair and grabbing her new book Wish Upon A Star. She had gotten so used to reading in loud areas, that she was able to block out all the noise and start her novel. But, the brunette barely had time to open her book before Tiffany laid her hand on the cover, forcing it closed.
"Hey! I don't know if you noticed, but I was going to read that. So if you don't mind, could you lift your hand off my book?" Jill proclaimed, trying and failing to pull off Tiffany's hand.
"You can read after the assembly. This is important information, and I'm not going to have you asking me questions for the next three days about it just because you were reading." Tiffany declared, ripping the book from Jill's grasp and shoving it into her bag.
"If you're going to take my book, at least handle it with care. Half the pages are gonna fall out in that position-" Jill whined, pointing at Tiffany's backpack, horror struck. The book was tilted and open, the pages bent against the notebooks and binders.
"Alright, alright." Tiffany interjected, reaching into her bag and handing the heavy book back to Jill. "Just don't read it, ok?"
"Fine." Jill grumbled, delicately unfolding the bent pages and restoring them to their original state. She gently placed the book in an open space in her bag and zipped her white-and blue striped backpack closed. The two girls brought their attention back to the stage as the voices of the high schoolers steadily died down.
The principal cleared her voice and folded her hands together, waiting patiently for the room to go silent. After a few more moments, the gym was still as the students waited in anticipation for more information.
"Now, there will be four new students and each of them already have a place to stay, so there's no need to worry." Ms. Valencia reassured, but it was quite obvious the thought never crossed anyone's mind. "There will be one girl and three boys, just if anyone was... curious..." Ms. Valencia trailed off; the woman was bewildered by the silence of her students. She thought that they would be bouncing off the walls by now, but apparently, she was wrong.
A few whispers were exchanged, but all too quickly, their eyes were back on the principal. The teacher seemed nervous; she wasn't used to all the attention directed towards her. After a couple more minutes of unusual silence, a yell echoed throughout the gym.
"Well? Is there anything else?"
The voice was low and tough, likely a senior sitting in the very back of the room. The end of the gym erupted into sniggers and laughter, the gutsy boy satisfied with his outrageous courage. He crossed his arms and his eyes met the principal's.
"What an idiot." Jill whispered under her breath, careful not to draw observation to herself. Luckily, the teenagers were too busy to notice the bookworm, all of them waiting for a response from their principal.
"Firstly, Mr. Wilson, you will meet me outside after the assembly due to your misbehavior." Ms. Valencia strictly stated, her cheeks turning red with embarrassment owing to his misbehavior. "Secondly, I know nothing more of the transfer students, except that they will arrive in the next three days. You are all excused." She gestured towards the entrances and exits of the gym, and the sound of chair legs scraping against the floor vibrated throughout the room. The students stood up and rushed towards the doors to get back to their lockers and empty their bags before heading home.

Jill and Tiffany hurried to the back exit and turned to the right, lockers and classrooms lining the hallway walls. As Tiffany chatted Jill's ear off about the transfers, Jill pulled out her book and tried, yet again, to start the adventure. But, she only opened it to be stopped once more, Tiffany snatching the book out of her hands.
"I thought you said I could read once the assembly was over!" Jill exclaimed, throwing her hands up in dismay. Tiffany clutched onto the book and kept it just out of Jill's reach; she teased the girl as she waved the book above her head, but she still kept eye contact with Jill.
"No," Tiffany corrected, her arms starting to tire from holding them up for so long. "I told you that you could read it once you learned everything about the new kids." Jill's face flooded with annoyance as she started to bicker with the blonde, the both of them still walking through the hallway; soon enough, though, the girls started to earn a few stares from passing students. Once Jill realized that she was attracting attention to herself, she lowered her voice and tried her best to contain her childish anger.
"Yes! I win, yet again!" Tiffany bragged, shoving Jill teasingly. "Y'know, some day, you'll get used to attention when you make speeches about finding the cure to cancer or some other science-y thing. But, until then, you will never get this book." Even though Tiffany was trying to irritate Jill, the bookworm only smiled at her boasting, delighted that she had such a wonderful friend. Tiffany lowered her arms and handed Jill the book back. Instead of reading it, though, she resisted the urge, placed it inside her backpack, and brought her attention back to her peppy friend.
"Ok, ok, so you want me to know about the transfers, huh?" Jill asked as they approached their lockers; even glimpsing at their lockers, you would know the girls had entirely different interests and opinions. Jill's locker was dotted with various sizes of sketches stickers of the beach; there were waves, umbrellas sticking out of the sand, dolphins, and more. All of the stickers were made during her art class when they recreated their favorite locations using any technique they wished for. So, Jill decided to draw and color the beach, the only place where her stress could melt away.
On the other hand, Tiffany's locker could be easily spotted from a mile away; the front of it had a huge 't' plastered across the top and was lined with rose-gold rhinestones. The bottom of the locker had a collage of all of her friends, but many of them were of her and Jill, either at the beach or library. The rest of the images were Tiffany and her cheer squad, the football team, and all the casts of the school plays she's performed in.
However, there was a single picture of Tiffany and a red-headed girl in the top right corner. The picture was the smallest and oldest one of all, the corners taped down to make sure they didn't curl in on themselves. Tiffany and the young red head were around the age of ten when the picture was taken; the child version of Tiffany was wearing a lilac dress with a skirt that flared out right below her knees. Meanwhile, the girl with fiery-red hair was wearing a flower patterned skirt and paired the pattern with a plain, white t-shirt. She pulled the design all together with a small, golden dragonfly clip which she used to clasp the front locks of her hair to the back of her head. Both of them seemed around the age of 13 to 14, their arms wrapped around one another as they grinned widely, joyfully showcasing their pearly white teeth. Unfortunately, that was the last summer Tiffany ever saw Lily.
The thought of Lily being one of the transfers had crossed both the girls minds, but they pushed it away, worried that they would get their hopes up only to be disappointed. They had to remind theirselves that Lily had stopped visiting over the summers for a reason, but the girls could never fully vanquish that small spark of hope that, maybe one day she would return for once more for the holiday. Deep down though, they knew that all they had left were memories.
As Tiffany ranted to a defeated Jill about the new transfers and all the gossip she had heard about them, a tall blond boy walked through the hallway, but stopped once he noticed he had strode past Tiffany. He turned on his heel, his sneakers squeaking slightly against the tile floor. The boy leaned against the locker next to Tiffany, and crossed his arms, smirking smugly at the cheerleader. His hazel eyes shun with mischief and slight stupidity, however, it was quite obvious he wasn't concerned for his dull mind. His t-shirt was a blank, snow white and a black belt was wrapped around his denim jeans.
"Hey Herrington," he smirked as Tiffany slowly turned around to face the eighteen-year old, her eyebrows scrunching together in irritation. The boy studied Tiffany's reaction, the girl annoyed with his cockiness.
"Laurence." She replied cooly, curtly nodding after reluctantly noting his presence. The impatient cheerleader was not in the mood to deal with this boy's idiocy.
"I heard that new burger place is opening up tonight," Laurence stated bluntly, "And I was thinking we should go down to see if the food is nearly as good as people are saying." The teenager tilted his chin up ever so slightly as the corner of his lip tugged up, perfecting the charming request straight to the point. Unfortunately for Laurence, Tiffany simply scoffed at the proposal and flipped her hair out of her face as she turned towards the blond boy.
"How many times do I have to tell you? NO." Tiffany shoved her textbooks into her locker much harder than necessary, causing Laurence to jump in surprise, though he quickly regained his charm soon after the unsettling noise.
"Oh, don't worry, you'll turn around. They always do!" And just like that, the boy resumed his strut down the hallway, acting as though nothing had even occurred.
"Wow, how many times is that now?" Jill asked as soon as Laurence was out of earshot; she was reading her book the entire time Laurie was flirting with Tiffany. The senior was clearly not worth her time, but then again, no one was very notable of her attention.
"Oh, three times today. Once this morning before the bell rang, the second outside the drama classroom, and the third when we were walking into the gym for the assembly." Tiffany stated as she counted on her fingers, her head lifted to the ceiling and eyes closed as if she was remembering something important.
"That's a new record, isn't it?" Jill proposed as she steadily closed her book, finishing the first chapter. Tiffany continued to close her eyes and thought long and hard about the question. She started to mumble under her breath, as if talking to herself would help her recall the answer.
"No." She slowly recollected, opening her eyes and looking back into her locker. Inside the locker was a mini chandelier, and there were three shelves below the ceiling decoration. Sprawled across the ledges were books, notes, stray papers, and other junk; half of the objects inside Tiffany never even used. "The highest amount of requests was five, last year, in December. I think it was the last day of school before Winter break. Guess he was feeling extra confident."
The corners of Jill's lips bent down as she dipped her head along with Tiffany, the book lover rather impressed with Laurence's ignorant - but impressive - persistence. Before the topic could continue any longer, Tiffany'sย head shot up when she heard loud footsteps stomping down the near-empty hallway. Both the girls glanced down the corridor, and were surprised to see a man holding a roll of bright yellow caution tape.
The man was around his mid-40's and was wearing a matching hat and janitor jumpsuit. On the back of the shirt was the word 'custodian' sewn in bold, block letters. The janitor stomped up to the lockers right across the girls, pulled off the locks, and sealed them off the with the daffodil yellow tape. Once he noticed Jill and Tiffany hiding their bewilderment quite terribly, he nodded towards the lockers.
"For the new kids." He grunted, and after Jill thanked him for the explanation, she shoved her hand into her face and shook her head while Tiffany squealed in excitement. She bounced up and down, shoved her books into her locker, and dragged Jill down the hallway.
"Oh what is it now?" Jill groaned, grabbing her backpack hastily off the tile floor before Tiffany could tug her any farther.
"We're going to my house, and you're going to help me choose some new outfits for when the new kids arrive." Tiffany declared as she let go of Jill's wrist and crossed her arms, tapping her foot impatiently.
"But, my parents-" Jill started, trying her hardest to dodge the situation; she bent down and bagged some of the loose papers that fell out of her bag in Tiffany'sย eagerness to prepare for the new students.
"-They'll understand why you're gone once you call them." Tiffany finished; she knew all of Jill's tricks, and usually let her get away with them. However, this situation (in her opinion) was far too important, and she was not going to let Jill slip out of it.
"C'mon Jill, please? This is really important to me." Tiffany implored as she folded her hands in a pleading manner, begging Jill to perform the favor. Jill rolled her eyes in annoyance and let out a deep sigh.
"Fine, just make it quick. I don't want to be up until midnight picking between two identical dresses." Jill grumbled, throwing her backpack over her shoulder and following her friend. Tiffany skipped down the hallway in glee, her exhilaration pumping adrenaline throughout her body. And, just like that, Jill got dragged into yet another fashion show with Tiffany and her walk-in closet.

"Oh, shove off, it was one chandelier."
"No, Mr. Potter, it was four!"
"Well, let's not waste our time on the details, shall we?"
James Potter, Sirius Black, Remus Lupin, and Lily Evans stood in front of the headmaster's desk; Professor McGonagall had caught them sneaking out in the middle of the night and dragged them straight to Dumbledore's office, furious with the mess they made in the Great Hall.
"Worst of all," McGonagall continued, pacing behind Dumbledores chair, "We've already given you two detentions in the past week."
"Actually, we've had three." Sirius corrected, lifting a finger in the air, a slightly amused look on both his and James faces. "We charmed that bludger to chase Snivellus, remember?"
"How could anyone forget? That was the best day of my life." James answered, a smirk starting to creep onto his face as Lily rolled her eyes, exasperated with the boys foolish behavior.
"Professor, please, I was only out to figure out what they were up to, and stop them." Lily pleaded as she pointed a finger towards James, Sirius, and Remus. James ran a hand through his hair and turned towards the prefect.
"Well, you could've done a bit better, Evans." James exclaimed, Lily crossing her arms and glaring at the naive boy.
"It's not my fault you're terrible at casting spells, you toe rag!" Lily snapped, her and James now too involved in their argument to notice both the professors and Remus' attempts to cease the fight; Sirius, though, only stepped out of Lily and James' path and tip-toed over to Remus, careful not to get involved.
"It bounced off the house points hourglass! But, maybe if I had some extra lessons from the top student in sixth year, I wouldn't have let the chandeliers fall." James scoffed, trying and failing to convince Lily to hang out with him after school hours.
"Why would I help you?" Lily barked, stepping closer towards the smug teenager; the only thing that came from this, though, was more amusement rushing towards James as he strode closer to her as well, both of them near enough hear each other breathing. But, before Lily could continue her rant, Dumbledore raised his hand and separated the children with the flick of his wrist. The two of them slid across the floor and returned to their original positions, Lily fuming with the irritation of James and his arrogance.
"Minerva, I believe detention won't be effective any longer." Dumbledore calmly stated as he glanced up towards the Transfiguration professor. McGonagall nodded her head in agreement as she narrowed her eyes at the four mischievous teenagers. At McGonagall's dip of her head, Dumbledore brought his attention back to his desk and pushed his half moon spectacles up the bridge of his nose; he reached towards the right top drawer of the table. He pulled on the handle and withdrew a piece of paper folded into thirds.
The brochure cover was plastered with a huge, black 'M', showcasing that it was delivered from the Ministry of Magic. Dumbledore's wrinkled, old hands opened the paper and his eyes moved from left to right as he skimmed over the information. Every few seconds he would glance up from the paper to ensure that the young troublemakers were still standing in front of his desk. Sirius soon crossed his arms and started to tap his foot, the over-dramatic boy losing his patience quite quickly. James soon followed suit, fiddling with his hands and catching looks at Sirius as the two of them beginning to make faces at each other.
Prior to Lily or Remus' attempts to display their annoyance, though, Dumbledore closed the paper and pulled his wand from out of his robe. With a jerk of the slim piece of wood, four chairs appeared behind the teenagers.
"Sit, please." Dumbledore gestured, his hand waving at the wooden chairs before them. "I wouldn't want you to stand when your hear your punishment." The teenagers caught a few glimpses at each other, and slowly sat down, realizing that destroying the entire Great Hall called for a far worse punishment than a month of detention.
"The Ministry and MACUSA have come together to create a new program for the children of the Wizarding community." Dumbledore explained as McGonagall stood behind his chair, her posture as straight as a pin. "As you know, we've wanted to grow closer to the Muggle community for many years now, but we have never had the chance. Until now." Dumbledore folded his hands on top of the desk and stared at the children's extremely diverse expressions; Remus was nodding his head along with the headmaster, taking in every word that came out of his mouth. Lily, wide eyed with curiosity, was as stiff as a board and extremely worried about their punishment. James and Sirius, though, were too relaxed and had their hands behind their heads, leaning back into their chairs and not taking the professor seriously.
Dumbledore glanced back up at McGonagall, another reassuring nod allowing the elder wizard to continue his speech.
"We have decided that the best way to approach the Muggle community is to use the children of our society. So, we have created a program where we send teenagers of various ages to Muggle school."
The four kids immediately erupted into chaotic arguing, James running his hands through his hair and yelling back at the headmaster. Remus and Lily were trying their hardest to have a civilized conversation with the two professors, but they let a few rather rude words slip into their disagreements. Sirius, though, merely stood up and tried to walk over to the office door. But, no matter how hard he pulled on the door handle, the door wouldn't budge. So, he stomped back to his chair, flipped his hair behind his shoulders, and sunk back into his chair along with a conspicuous sigh.
"Silence!" McGonagall shouted at the distressed teenagers, the arguing rapidly dying out. Dumbledore glanced back up at the Transfiguration professor and - even though he tried his hardest - let a small, tired smile creep onto his face.
"We have volunteered to bring four children to Cambridge High all the way in America. We were planning on sending Mr. Pettigrew instead of Miss. Evans, but seeing his state of injury at the moment, he is unavailable for the experiment." Before Dumbledore could continue, the red-headed Gryffindor cleared her throat to grab the attention of the headmaster.
"I'm so sorry, but I have a few questions." Lily sheepishly interrupted, waving her hand at head level to seize the observation of the professor. Dumbledore gestured to Lily to continue her concerns, sweeping a hand towards the girl.
"I don't exactly believe that I should be sent to America for sneaking out once when Peter has snuck out multiple times." Lily exclaimed, nodding her head towards the boys next to her. Sirius lifted his hands up innocently and raised his eyebrows, as if he was not a part of anything happening at that moment.
"Well, because Mr. Pettigrew was hit by a certain charmed bludger," Professor McGonagall answered, eyeing the three troublesome boys in front of her. James and Sirius' heads started to wander around the room, avoiding eye contact with the professor; Remus, though, simply buried his face into the palms of his hands in second-hand embarrassment for his friends, "He is not even able to walk, let alone fly." After Lily nodded her head, somewhat confused by what McGonagall meant by 'fly', she resumed her second question.
"Also, did you say Cambridge High? As in the one in San Diego?" Lily asked warily, clenching her hands into tight fists as she waited for the answer.
"Why, yes, Miss. Evans, I believe it is in the state of California. How did you know?" Dumbledore brought his full attention to the nervous red-head, her hands now fiddling in her lap as she stared at her fingers.
"Wow, who knew Evans had secrets that even I didn't know." James sarcastically exclaimed, a hand rested in his chest as he eyed Lily in false suspicion. She lifted her head and a dirty look was etched across her face as she glowered at James. He abruptly regained his posture and stared at the back of the room, realizing that this was not the best time to test the girl's limited patience.
"No it's nothing, just a few old friends go there..." Lily explained, her hands now twisting and petting her hair in anxiety from everyone's expressions. "Um, is this the only school available? There are really no other schools in England?" Dumbledore opened the brochure yet again and adjusted his half moon spectacles, re-reading the information of the program. As he skimmed through the first few sentences, he looked back up at Lily, his eyes twinkling with guilt and, perhaps, a dash of delight.
"I'm terribly sorry, Miss Evans, but Cambridge High is our only option. They're expecting four teenagers to arrive in the next three days, and our final decision is to send you instead of Mr. Pettigrew." Dumbledore pleasantly explained, waving a hand at the astonished children before him; the troublemakers sat with the same expression on each of their faces of this incredible news - wide eyed and dumbfounded. The first to break the awkward silence was James Potter, glancing over to Lily.
"Wait, why do you know people in America?" James asked curiously, grasping onto the fact that he had much to learn about the red head. Lily stole a look at the boy, but only ignored him, still trying to realize that she had to reunite with her old, childhood friends.
"Where would we even stay?" Lily wondered aloud, confused about the small details of their punishment. "We need money, a house, new clothes, and how are we even going to get there? By plane?"
"What the bloody hell is a plane?" Sirius interrupted, extremely puzzled by muggles and now wishing he took the extra Muggle Studies class.
"It's a giant, bird thing that can carry people, right?" James finished, turning to a tired Remus, who just waved his arm uselessly to the boy as if to confirm his twisted answer. James confidently bowed his head towards Sirius to prove his statement correct.
"Yes, you will be using Muggle transport and many other non-magical items for the next year in California." At the word 'year', the room exploded yet again, and this time, they were much more furious; they all started to yell and scream, frustrated that they would miss their entire sixth year at Hogwarts. Dumbledore raised his hands to try and silence the children; this took quite a few tries, seeing as Sirius tried to stand up and walk over to the headmaster's chair multiple times, but only having Remus pull him back down every attempt. As the fighting slowly died down, many glares were sent around the room, all of them thinking it was each other's faults they were in this enormous mess.
"For this project, all of you must complete these goals." Dumbledore calmly resumed, smoothing the wrinkles in the brochure as he brought the details of the punishment closer to his face. "Attend an elective and perfect language. Examples of electives include art, drama, student council, and more. Also, some of the many languages you may take are Spanish, French, or German." As soon as the headmaster projected the word 'drama', Sirius immediately turned to James and winked at him, both of them already knowing which elective they were going to be involved in.
"In addition to an elective and language, all of you must attend at least one high school football or soccer game your home team competes in."
"What's football?" James inquired, his thoughts starting to linger back to when he would watch his muggle neighbors play in their driveway during the Summer. "Isn't that the sport with the checkered ball?"
"That's the British version. The American version has a brown ball with a white strip down the middle." Lily explained, her hands mimicking the shape of an American football.
"How do you know all this?" James asked, intrigued by Lily's abundance of knowledge about America and already forgetting his most recent discovery about her past. The girl merely rolled her eyes and directed her attention back to Dumbledore and Professor McGonagall.
"Is there anything else we need to complete?" Lily questioned, wondering if the list of goals would ever end.
"Yes." Dumbledore confirmed, adjusting his spectacles to stop them from sliding down the bridge of his nose. "The last item on the list is to attend one or more of the dances." At this news, Lily rolled her eyes yet again as James and Sirius lit up with excitement.
"So, there are girls at this school?" Sirius sniggered; the smirk on his face grew and grew, until the cockiness was overwhelming enough that it was painful for Lily to even glimpse at the boy. Dumbledore nodded his head, slightly amused by the students turn of opinions at hearing their last goal.
"Maybe you'll find a new girl." James laughed as he elbowed Sirius playfully; but, Sirius merely closed his eyes, cocked his chin at the ceiling, and rested his hand on his chest.
"Well, I'm sorry if I have trouble finding the perfect lady." Sirius explained, his position overwhelmingly arrogant. "Perhaps there will be better women at this new school, ones who understand me." Sirius eased out of his position as him and James burst out into fits of laughter. Remus, who had finally lifted his head out of his hands, rolled his eyes at his friends and decided to speak up to the headmaster.
"Are those all the goals?" He queried, still annoyed that he was dragged into this situation.
"Yes, I believe so. We will hand out more detailed information tomorrow, about an hour before your flight to San Diego." The teenager's eyes widened, surprised that the four of them were leaving so quickly.
"Why are we leaving so soon?" Remus nervously asked as Lily slumped into her chair, remembering the negatives of the non-magical world. "How long does it take to get to America?"
"It'll take at least 14 hours, even if the flight is non-stop." Lily explained to Remus, and even though he didn't show any enthusiasm, it was nothing compared to Sirius and James' reactions.
"14 hours!" Sirius yelled, standing up out of his chair and turning towards Lily. "What's wrong with muggles? How am I supposed to get my beauty sleep?!" James immediately joined Sirius and stared down the headmaster instead of Lily.
"What about my hair? Do you realize how long it takes in the morning to tame it?" James exclaimed, his hands pointing to the messy, brown hair falling over his eyes due to his shouting and extreme movement. Lily rolled her eyes and crossed her arms at both the boys drastic responses.
"Really?" Lily sarcastically asked, bringing her attention to James, who had halted his yelling to hear her. "Your hair looks like you just got up; Sirius is the one who owns bottles of hairspray." A childish glare formed across Sirius' face as he waved a hand at Lily; James, meanwhile, was patting down his hair and eyeing Lily suspiciously, turning to Remus every few seconds to ask if it looked any better.
"Please, this is all natural." Sirius smirked, his hands gesturing to his shoulder-length hair, the charcoal-black locks shining with Sleekeazy's hair potion. Before Lily could mock Sirius or James' hair any longer, Professor McGonagall whipped out her wand and muttered under her breath, swishing it in a circular motion towards the chairs; three of the four chairs disappeared, and once she asked Remus to stand, the fourth soon followed.
"Your bags are already packed and you will receive your home address once you are safely on the plane. Now, get a good nights rest, you'll need it for tomorrow." McGonagall stated, stashing her wand back into her emerald-green robes. The four children nodded their heads and dragged themselves to the office door; they couldn't believe that this was their last night in Hogwarts before going to the U.S.A. The change was so drastic and sudden, the news was still finding it's way through the deep sea of their thoughts.
But, maybe not all change is bad.
