─── 𝐨𝐨. KANG SAE-BOM KNEW ALL ABOUT THE CRUELTY OF LIFE, ABOUT LOSING SOMEONE CLOSEST TO HER HEART. She knew all about it way too well. She was forced to grow up at a young age since her actual parents wanted nothing to do with her, and that's how she found herself apart of the Kang family, with a brand new name. And it's also how she met the Hwang brothers, more so Hwang In-ho. She first met the brothers when she got into trouble with the police for punching a guy in the face, who was bothering her younger sister, Sae-Byeok and then she was brought to the police station. Sparking the moment where her eyes met In-ho's, being her greatest downfall or salvation she needed.

─── 𝐨𝐨. SHE HAD TO STEP UP WHEN THEIR MOTHER WAS STUCK IN ANOTHER COUNTRY, and Sae-bom knew she needed to become the parental figure her brother and sister needed through their difficult time. And that she did. She tried to do things for her siblings like an actual parent would, care for them like any sibling would and made sure Cheol was always happy despite being in a orphanage. Yet, she started to lose herself more and more with the sudden disappearance of In-ho, how it ate at her heart knowing he left without any goodbye or reason as to why he did.

─── 𝐨𝐨. IT DIDN'T SIT WELL WITH SAE-BOM HOW HE VANISHED OUT OF NOWHERE, WHEN HE WOULD NORMALLY TELL HER EVERYTHING, but she figured that's what happens when two people drift apart and go their separate ways in life despite her trying to reach out. This made her go to the one person whom she knew would probably know where he was, she went to his brother, Jun-ho for answers. However, he didn't have them either, furthermore making that void in her heart grow bigger. But, he did have something else. A card with three shapes on it to a game, the same one she found in her sisters room when she too suddenly disappeared.

And so, Sae-bom finds herself joining these children games, but not by choice or the fact there was money involved, that was only a bonus. She was there to infiltrate from the inside, find her younger sister and hold on hope that In-ho would be one of those 456 players.

She just didn't realise how close he always was to her, nor the deadly game she had just placed herself in. She stared death in the eye, and Sae-bom would fight for her loved ones to see another day, no matter the cost.

tbh i've been in love with in-ho since they first revealed who was under that mask but also i had heart eyes for him when he was wearing the frontman mask LMFAOOA 😭 im super exited to write this fic since i normally don't make that big of sad/angsty fics but this one will take the cake for sure...

can't stop thinking about in-ho and his beautiful fucking face, literally i watch edits that i've saved of him on tiktak and repeat it daily like clockwork 👅 it's a problem. anywaysss i hope you all enjoy the first squid game fic im releasing with hopefully a few more to come (hint hint, player 333 & player 388) <333 🫶
