"YOU'RE going to propose to her?!" You shrieked, feigning excitement as you inwardly cringed at yourself for how your sentence made it seem as if you were really excited cause heck no, you weren't. It isn't like you didn't care about this at all, you just weren't as excited and happy as you seemed, of course you were happy that your best friend was finally going to get his happily ever after but you weren't too thrilled about the fact that it wasn't you who got experience it with him.

"Yes!" Jaehyun beamed, flashing his pearly whites at you. That was like a slap to your face, you had to blink twice to stop the tears from escaping your eyes. After all, you couldn't cry now, not when he was so happy. You couldn't just ruin his happiness because of your petty feelings and your hormones acting up like they always do when you're around him.

"That's great." It sounded so ironic coming from you.

"I know right?" Jaehyun chuckled, scratching the back of his head as he kept on smiling like a lovestruck teen.

"Yup." It surprised you how good you got at lying, guess hiding your feelings had taught you to become a great liar now that you even lied to yourself about your own feelings. You hated yourself for falling for Jaehyun in the first place, even after knowing that your feelings would never be returned. You saw so many red alerts but you being you ignored all of them and fell hopelessly head over heels for your one and only best friend.

You always convinced yourself it was a crush, just a crush. Nothing more than that. But as time passed by, that crush turned into something more and slowly it turned into a one sided love that left deep scars in your heart. You noted yourself to move on from him when the news of him dating Yerim reached your ears, sticking 'notes to self' all around your secret studio that only you had an access to. But two months after they started dating and you started avoiding your best friend, Jaehyun shows up unannounced in your apartment with bloodshot eyes and that's when you found out he had broken up with Yeri. You being you again, couldn't bring yourself to just kick him out so the night ended up with you comforting your heartbroken best friend and the next morning, you marched up to Yeri's house first thing after you woke up and convinced her to get together with Jaehyun.

Oh, things you did for him.

So basically you can't blame anyone but yourself for this too. Your sacrifices was what led up to your heartbreak, you let Jaehyun go, you let him find his own happiness. That was just your way of loving someone, when you loved them, you loved them enough to let them go too.

"So, when are you going to pop the question?" You inquired, picking up the expensive cherry red wine glass from the table and taking a sip as you waited for Jaehyun to answer you.

"Tomorrow, only. I want to get it over with as soon as possible." Leave it up to him to obliviously crush your heart in pieces.

"Yeah, you better do it as soon as possible before someone possibly snatches her away. Who knows what can happen?"

"Hey!" Jaehyun exclaimed, glaring at you as you clutched your stomach, laughing loudly. "Stop it, the whole restaurant is looking at you." He added in a whisper. Only then did you notice the people giving you judgemental glances, probably questioning your sanity as you threw a sheepish smile at them, apologizing quietly.

"You're still as embarrassing as you were back in high school." Jaehyun commented, making you smirk at him. "As if you were any less embarrassing, dear captain. Remember when your pants fell off in front of our coach and teammates during practice?" You teased.

"I- you did not have to mention that!"

"What else are friends for Jaehyun?"
