If someone had told Damon that one day he would be putting a crib together he would have laughed in their face. That was something that Damon from three years ago would never do. Never. At least that's what he thought. Now, here he was setting up a nursery room for Angel's baby. For Klaus' child to add to it but for the last couple of months he hadn't cared about that. He was happy where he was.
The road to their new home was not an easy one. There had been moments where Angel and Damon were close to going their own way. But, something always made him stop. Damon cared for Angel, he always had. Since the moment he met her, he'd dare say. There were times when she'd bring up Damon choosing Elena over her, or they'd fight about why they stopped being friends for a while. They'd make it by the time they made it to their next stop. Until they found a small town where they could settle. Forks Washington seemed quiet. She liked the town and she could get used to it.
They lived a little more in the forest, the house was brand new and furnished, they just had to move in and add a few things here and there but the house was ready. Damon was trying to assemble the nursery while Angel drove to town to shop for groceries. The town was a little small from what she had seen on the road, but it was lovely, quiet, and reserved, a good place to hide away from Klaus' enemies should they ever come to find her and her baby. As she walked around to the grocery store she felt this pull, she didn't know to what, who, or where but she felt it. She felt connected to the nature around her, but none of this was familiar, it was strange to feel this, she had not felt this in so long. The last time she had felt it was when her family was alive and together, their little pack.
She rid herself of those thoughts and continued to shop. An elder woman kept glancing at her and she noticed but said nothing. "Excuse miss" the woman called out to her making Angel turn to face her. "How far along are you?" the woman asked, curious about the woman in front of her. "Almost seven months" Angel replied with a small smile. "Are you having twins?" the woman asked, keeping the conversation going. "Only one baby" she replied. The woman nodded, and she hummed. "I've seen bellies like this with women who are carrying twins or a boy" Angel smiled, her mom used to say the same to other pregnant women. "My mother used to say the same" she added.
The woman smiled at her. "I'm Sue Clearwater," the woman said stretching out her hand for Angel to shake. "Nice to meet you, Sue. I'm Angel King" the two women shook hands and smiled at each other. "Mom!" a voice interrupted their conversation. "Seth," the woman said warmly. Sue reminded Angel of her mother, long ago when she was around his age. "Seth meet Angel" the two waved at each other and said hello. "Are you new to town?" the boy asked and she nodded. "I came to shop because my refrigerator is pretty empty and I need food" Seth looked at her pregnant belly. "Congratulations," he said and she smiled. "Thank you!" she replied happily. "I hate to cut this short but I have to finish shopping and make dinner. It was nice to meet you guys!" Sue took out a piece of paper and began to write on it. "Here! It's my number in case you need anything. I put down my address. You need a proper welcome to the town. The Reserve is quite nice around this time" Angel took the paper and smiled. "Thanks, Sue. Bye, Seth" the mother and son bid their goodbyes.
Angel finished her shopping and returned home. By the time she returned, Damon was done with the nursery. "Not too bad for the first time" she spoke as she leaned against the door frame, a soft smile adorned her lips. Damon turned to face her, a smile appeared on his lips. "What can I say? I'm a natural" he replied. The room needed more decorations and more things needed to be set up but at least they were closer and closer to finishing. "How was the grocery run?" he asked as the two made their way down to the kitchen. "It was good" she replied as Damon went out to get the rest of the grocery bags. Forks was gloomy, it was nearly five o'clock. She heard Damon come back in. "I'll start on dinner while you shower?" she asked and he nodded.
While Damon showered she cleaned and cooked, putting away her groceries and all. This, this she could get used to. Thirty minutes later Damon joined her, dinner was served and the two sat down and ate. Their evening was quiet and simple but it felt good. She missed Klaus she would not deny it but she was happy here, with Damon. "So, I've been thinking about names for the baby. What do you think?" she asked him. "For a boy, I think Damon would suit him" she gave him a warning look but a smile quickly took over. "Mmh, I am not sure about that" she made a thinking face. "I like the name Rhysand," he said, this time his tone was serious. "Or Azriel" she nodded. "I like both of those names. "Cassian as well. Or Jacaerys, Lucerys" she added her own.
The two sat on the couch now. Still talking about baby names. "For a girl..." she trailed off. "Celine. I like that name. Eliana, Astoria, Astra" he nodded. "Sophia. Stephanie, or Estefania. Lucia, Maddison" she nodded. She was falling asleep on his shoulder. "It could be either of those names and as a middle name I was thinking Lily, or Liliana, like your mother," she said as she finally fell asleep. Damon didn't move. He hadn't thought about his mother in a long time. He had told Angel about Lily once, long ago. But, she remembered. And she thought about him when naming her child. Angel was good. She was too good for him but he loved her anyway, even if she didn't love him. Not yet anyways. She would come to love him, one day. He will wait. He's got time.
