Shubman Gill, after a hectic time at Nike Headquarters in Oregon, found some tranquillity during his train ride from the airport to his hotel. It was an 8-hour flight from Oregan to New York City, and he was happy to be sitting comfortably on a train at that moment.

As the train rattled along the tracks, he settled into his seat, dressed comfortably in a crisp white shirt layered with a navy pullover sweater, paired with well-worn jeans and sleek sneakers. His signature sunglasses perched casually on his head, reflecting the subtle hum of the train's interior lights.

With earphones in, he lost himself in the pages of a gripping novel, the rhythmic sound of the train wheels blending seamlessly with the soft strains of his favourite music. The journey promised solitude and a chance to unwind, a rare luxury amidst his hectic schedule.

Across the aisle, Kamari Arora fidgeted in her seat, her dark hair tucked behind her ears as she rummaged through her tote bag, the vibrant cityscape of New York passing by outside the window.

Dressed in a cozy oversized sweater, a black dress beneath, and ankle boots, she was looking for the sequel of a book, she had just finished reading—a well-loved copy of the same novel Shubman was engrossed in.

Her eyes met Shubman's briefly, a sheepish smile forming as she held up the first book. "I think I forgot to bring the next one," she admitted, a hint of frustration evident in her voice.

Shubman removed his earphones, his warm smile lighting up his face. "It's a fantastic read, isn't it?" he replied, holding up his own copy. "I just finished this one."

Kamari chuckled softly, her cheeks flushing with embarrassment. "Typical me, always forgetting something," she sighed, sinking back into her seat.

"Well, I happen to have the sequel right here," Shubman offered, pulling the book out of his bag and extending it towards her.

Kamari's eyes widened in surprise, a mix of gratitude and disbelief crossing her features. "Are you serious? That's incredibly kind of you!" she exclaimed, accepting the book with a grateful smile.

"No problem at all," Shubman replied with a casual shrug, settling back into his seat. "I always carry a spare book or two for moments like this."

Kamari, still blushing a little from the unexpected exchange, looked up from the book, her eyes briefly meeting Shubman's.

"I can't believe you had the exact book I was looking for," she said, her expression a mix of amazement and gratitude.

Shubman chuckled, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Lucky coincidence, I suppose," he replied, "or maybe just my penchant for being prepared."

Kamari couldn't help but raise an eyebrow, a playful glint in her eyes. "Are you one of those people who always has every contingency planned for?" she teased.

Shubman laughed aloud at her comment, a genuine warmth in his voice. "You caught me," he admitted, "I do like to be prepared, especially when travelling."

Kamari smiled and continued to read, occasionally sneaking glances in Shubman's direction. The setting sun cast a warm glow through the windows, bathing the train carriage in a golden light.

As the train continued its journey, Shubman couldn't help but steal a glance at Kamari, seeing her engrossed in the pages of the book. He found himself drawn to her focused expression, the way she occasionally bit her lip in concentration.

Deciding to take a chance, Shubman took out his earphones and leaned back in his seat, clearing his throat gently to catch Kamari's attention. She looked up, raising her eyebrows in query.

"So," Shubman began, a hint of curiosity in his voice, "What do you think of the novel so far?"

Kamari closed the book for a moment, her eyes meeting Shubman's. "It's really good," she admitted, a hint of excitement in her voice, "I can see why you brought it with you."

Shubman smiled, pleased that she was enjoying the recommendation. "I thought you'd like it," he said. "The author has a way with words, doesn't she?"

Kamari's face lit up as she nodded eagerly. "Absolutely," she agreed. "I've never read anything like it before. It's like she transports you into the world she's created."

Shubman chuckled, leaning forward a little. "That's my favourite kind of book," he said, "the ones that make you forget where you are and pull you in completely."

As they continued to talk about the novel, the train slowed down, approaching a station. It was a brief stop, and the conductor announced over the loudspeaker that they would be back to speed in a few minutes.

Kamari looked out the window, her eyes scanning the landscape as the train began to move again. "It's getting dark out there," she observed a hint of a shiver in her voice.

Shubman followed her gaze, looking out the window at the rapidly darkening sky. "Yeah, it is," he agreed, checking his watch. "We should be there in about an hour, though. The city will be lit up by then, I bet."

"You're right," Kamari replied, returning her attention to the book in her hands. "I love the city at night."

Shubman watched her for a moment, the way her fingers traced the cover of the book, before speaking up again. "Me too," he said, "There's something magical about the lights reflecting off the buildings."

Finally, unable to resist, he spoke up, his voice soft and gentle. "You're very engrossed in that book," he observed, a hint of amusement in his tone.

Kamari looked up, her eyes meeting his for a moment, a hint of a blush creeping up her cheeks.

"I can't help it," she admitted, a touch of embarrassment in her voice. "It's such a good story. I just can't put it down."

Shubman chuckled, leaning back in his seat. "I understand," he said, "When a good book grabs you, it's hard to do anything else."

The silence fell again, the sound of the train wheels the only thing breaking the tranquil atmosphere. Shubman found his gaze drawn to Kamari's face as she read, the soft lamplight illuminating her features.

After a moment, Kamari looked up from the book, returning his gaze with a shy smile. "I feel bad, though," she said, a hint of regret in her voice. "We've been talking about the book this whole time. What about you? How was your trip to Oregon?"

Shubman shrugged, shifting in his seat a little. "It was good," he said, "but tiring. Lots of meetings, flights, and not much sleep."

Kamari nodded a sympathetic expression on her face. "That sounds rough," she said, "I hate being cooped up on a plane for too long. It always makes me feel restless."

Shubman chuckled, running a hand through his hair. "I know what you mean," he said, "There's only so much mindless staring out of the window you can do before it drives you insane."

"Exactly," Kamari replied, a smile playing on her lips. "And all those boring movies that they play on repeat. I'm always tempted to throw them out the window by the end of the flight."

Shubman laughed, the sound filling the carriage. "I've had that exact same thought more times than I can count," he confessed, "Next time I'm bringing a stack of books and leaving the movies for the rest of the passengers."

Kamari grinned, a mischievous gleam in her eyes. "I might just join you in that," she said. "Imagine an entire aeroplane full of people engrossed in books instead of crappy movies. Sounds like heaven to me."

Shubman chuckled at the image, picturing it in his mind. "That would be a sight to behold," he said, "A silent, literary paradise in the clouds."

As the train sped through the city, Shubman and Kamari continued to exchange smiles and occasional glances, each engrossed in their respective books. The shared literary experience created a comfortable silence between them, a quiet camaraderie amid the bustling surroundings.

After about two hours, the train pulled into their stop. Shubman and Kamari gathered their belongings, ready to disembark. Shubman noticed Kamari struggling with her overstuffed tote bag and offered a hand.

"Here, let me help you with that," he said, lifting the bag effortlessly.

"Thanks! It's heavier than it looks," Kamari replied, laughing. "By the way, I'm Kamari. Nice to meet you."

"Nice to meet you too, Kamari. I'm Shubman," he said with a friendly nod.

As they made their way out of the station, Kamari's best friend, Iliana, appeared, waving energetically. "Kamari! Over here!"

Kamari waved back. "Iliana, this is Shubman. He just saved me from a bookless nightmare."

Iliana smiled warmly at Shubman. "Nice to meet you! Thanks for helping Kamari out."

"No problem at all," Shubman replied. "I'm just glad I could help."

The trio walked towards their respective destinations, chatting easily. To their surprise, they soon realized they were heading in the same direction.

"Which hotel are you staying at?" Kamari asked.

"The Hilton Midtown," Shubman replied.

Kamari and Iliana exchanged astonished glances. "No way! We're staying there too!" Iliana exclaimed.

Shubman chuckled. "What a coincidence! Looks like we'll be neighbors for a while."

They entered the hotel lobby together, the plush surroundings welcoming them after their long journey. As they checked in, the desk clerk handed them their room keys, confirming their stay for the next month.

"This is amazing," Kamari said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "I've never had such an eventful start to a trip."

"Me neither," Shubman agreed, his smile genuine. "I'm here on a solo trip, so it's nice to have some friendly faces around."

"We'll definitely have to hang out," Iliana said enthusiastically. "Kamari and I have a whole list of things to do in New York. You're welcome to join us anytime."

"Count me in," Shubman replied. "I was planning on exploring the city, and it sounds like more fun with company."
