Chapter 27

Tiana's POV

It was three week after the whole fiasco. Everything wasn't okay for me. I have cried so much, I doubt there is any more tears left for me to cry. We were all at the cemetery, dressed in black, umbrellas above us as the rain fell, the pastor saying several words of prayer for the dead and words of encouragement to us all.

"May her soul rest perfectly in the bosom of our lord Jesus Christ." The pastor concluded.

"Amen. Everyone chorused, everyone except me. I couldn't find my voice. Beads of tears dropped from my eyes again and I violently wiped them away.

I felt a hand slip in between mine and I knew it was him. He entwined our fingers and brought it up to his lips, placing a soft kiss on the back of my palm. I looked on as people dropped flowers by her stone, people I was sure didn't care about Ciara. Basically they would be more or less happy that she was no more. I just wanted to leave this place. It was giving me terrible vibes. Right now I was no longer sad. I just felt numb.

Did I mention my parents were around? Yeah, it's so funny that they decided to show up just because one of their children was dead. When they came, there was no emotion, no tears. They called the press to make sure the news didn't go far, stating that they wanted to protect their reputation. I nearly exploded with anger but Tyler was there to calm me down. I haven't spoken to them since they came. Mum has been trying to talk to me but I would always ignore her.

Everyone began to disperse from the cemetery except me, Tyler, the rest of my friends my parents and the pastor. Taju had come back from his trip and heard about the whole thing. Baba was vexed that he wasn't around to go with the fun, says he missed a lot. No one should pray to me in the kind of position we were in. We stood there, under the umbrella, looking at Ciara's tomb stone.

Ciara Dakoba
Lovely daughter, sister and friend
1996-2019
May her soul rest in peace.

They began to drop flowers on the limestones and settled in an uncomfortable silence

"Even though we didn't get the know the real her. I bet she was pretty amazing." Lyla broke the unsettling silence. I chuckled.

"I didn't get to know the real her either." I revealed and we all chuckled.  "Though, when we were little, she would always protect me. She always had my back. I don't know what went wrong." I said.

"It's gonna be okay Tiana. She's in a better place now. That's all that matters." Joel said. I nodded and looked back at her tomb stone. I brought two fingers to press against my lips and then pressed it against the tombstone.

"I love you sis." I whispered. The rain had stopped and the son came out through the clouds.

"That means she loves you too." Kelvin pointed to the cloud.

"Kelvin, you have been watching too much cartoons. It's not good for your already tiny brain." Charles smirked.

"Nice one oo. For your mind now, you are making sense." Kelvin hissed. We laughed. I looked at Tyler and he gave me a go ahead.

"I really want to thank you guys for being with me through out this period. I've never really had friends and the length you guys went to, to make sure I was..." I clasped my hand around Tyler's. "To make sure we were okay, I haven't felt this overwhelmed by so much love and care. Thank you so much." My eyes were already tearful.

"You don't have to thank us, Tiana." Charles said.

"We are friend and friends have each others back." Zaria smiled.

"You should thank Tyler. He's the one that didn't give up on you like everyone did. It was his motivation that opened our eyes. He is the real G." Ada budged Tyler.

"You people should be whining me o. Plus, watch the hand." Tyler moved away from the ever aggressive Ada. I tiptoed, pulled his head down slightly and pressed my lips against him in a brief kiss. He held my waist with his good hand.

"Arghh!! Get a room." Kelvin groaned. I pulled away and smiled at Tyler.

"What?" He asked, his lips turned up in a smile.

"Thank you, for everything. I'm so lucky to have you." I whispered. I saw his smile falter a bit. "What's wrong?" I asked. He sighed and put on a bright smile.

"Nothing. I'm just glad you are finally okay." He kissed my forehead and pulled me in for a hug.

"Tiana, darling!" I heard my mum's voice and I groaned.

"Not now, mother." I replied with gritted teeth.

"But..." She started but I cut her off.

"See you at home, mum." I gave her a strained smile and walked away with Tyler and the others.

I have nothing to say to her right now.

Tyler's POV

The driver slowed down in front of Tiana's and packed. I would have driven her but my arm was in a cast and even though I could manage with one arm, my dad wouldn't have it. He's been babying me since the accident, getting much more protective. I don't blame him though, I almost died.

Tiana and I got down and I told the driver to wait for us. She wanted to change, pack few of her things and follow me back. She didn't want to stay in the same house with her parents, her detest for them growing each passing day since they have been here. She would be staying with Zaria, till she's sure her parents would be going back.

"Hey." I held her hand and she turned to look at me. "Are you sure you don't want to stay here instead? Try fixing things with your parents?" I asked her and she rolled her eyes.

"Tyler, nothing can be fixed." She told me calmly.

"But you are the one that made sure I fixed things with my dad, let me help you fix this one." I told her. She smiled and took my good arm in both of hers.

"Tyler, you and your Dad were fixable. Me and my parents are not. Everything that happened with me and Ciara all our lives was their fault. I'm sorry, but you can't help." She said.

"Nothing is unfixable." I smirked and she rolled her eyes, a smile tugged on her lips. She pulled me along and we entered the house, not noticing the truck at the other side of the road.

We entered the house and saw Tiana's parents with some men, moving in things and rearranging the place. I looked at Tiana and she had frown on her face.

"What's going on?" She removed her hands from mine and stood hands akimbo. Tiana's mum finally noticed us and put on a big smile, one that Tiana didn't return.

"Tiana, darling! You are back." Her mum let out a squeal.

"Obviously." Tiana sassed back and I smiled. Damn, I missed her sass. "Now, I asked a question that deserves an answer."

"Can you stop being a disrespectful brat for once, young lady." Her father snapped and Tiana rolled her eyes for the third time since we got here.

"I'm waiting." She said. Her mum and dad looked at each other, telepathically communicating, arguing actually and who would tell her whatever they were hiding. Her mum decided to do it.

"Sweetie. We have great news." She started.

"I doubt it would be great once I hear it." Tiana muttered and I held back a chuckle.

"We are moving here permanently to stay with you. The truck is outside with our things" Her mum dead panned.

"What?" Tiana said.

"This can't be good." I muttered.

"We realized that we shouldn't be too far from you after everything that happened. Families are supposed to be together right?" Her father smiled. Tiana let out a humour less laughter and I took her hand in mine, giving the back of her palm soothing strokes. She's furious.

"Wow!! Thank you so much for considering my well being for the first time ever but I'm sorry, you are 17 years late for that." Tiana said.

"What do you mean?" Her mum asked and I was shocked. It was either she was playing dumb or she was just plain dumb.

"Families stick together?! If that was the case several years ago, Ciara wouldn't have died. She would have been here!" Tiana screamed, pointing her finger at them.

"Sweetie. We know we haven't been the best parents, but we are trying to make amends with you." Her father said, stuttering.

"Make amend?! You guys were never there for us. You guys left us to live our lives the way we wanted and we lost the right track. You guys were never around. I'm one hundred percent sure You don't even know my birthday." She stopped, waiting for them to prove her wrong but they were quiet. Tiana let out a small sad laugh.

"Just as I thought. You guys had no idea what we were going through, what I was going through. Ciara became a fücking stripper! I was addicted to sex. I had fücking sex toys!! I was a whore! What basically differentiated me from prostitute was the fact that I wasn't at the road side flagging down vehicles but I can say it that I was ten time worse that them. I had sex with almost all the male workers in our house back in Abuja!! Did you know that?!" She screamed at them, tears spilling profusely from her eyes.

She was bringing back her past and it was hurting her. Her mother gasped, tears in her eyes too. Her father looked down, ashamed of himself. I held her hand and tried whispering to her.

"You are hurting yourself." I told her but she didn't listen. She wasn't done yet.

"I was basically a lost course. When I started healing you were not even there to help me heal." She chocked out.

"Omo mi." Her mother called, trying to move closer to her but Tiana held her hand out to stop her.

"I am not your daughter. I seized to be your child the day you decided to take part in ruining my life. You can move here if you want, in fact move to hell for all I care. I'm not staying with you and don't try looking for me." She concluded, took my hand and dragged me upstairs.

When we got to her room, she let go off my hand and walked further into the room, her back to me. I stopped by the door and watched her as she tried calming herself down. She kept cleaning her face but the tears kept coming. She tried whispering encouraging words to her self but the tears wouldn't stop. She was hurting real bad and that made what I wanted to tell her ten times more difficult.

"Tiana." I whispered, walking into the room.

"I'm fine. I'm okay." She said frantically.

"It's okay to not be okay..." I came behind her and placed my hand on her shoulder. I felt it shake under my palm as she sobbed. I leaned my head to the side of her face and placed my lips close to her ear.

"It's equally okay to cry. Just let it out." I whispered and that did the trick. She turned around, wrapped her hands around me and burst into tears, her face buried in my chest. I wrapped my good hand tightly around and her hugged her back.

"It okay. Let it out. I'm here for you. I love you." I whispered and she held me tighter, the tears flowing non stop.

When she eventually stopped crying, she said she wanted to cuddle for a few minutes. I nodded and unbuttoned my shirt just a few buttons off and took off my shoes. She can to stay beside me on the bed and we were spooning, my good arm around her mid section.

An hour later we already finished packing her things and we dragged the two big suit cases down the stairs. Tiana's parents were there, looking miserable. They tried to talk to her but she totally ignore them and walked out. I silently followed her behind. It was her call not mine. If this was what she wanted, I would totally support her.

My mind strayed as we drove to Zaria's place. I had something important to tell her but I didn't know how and the situation she was in made it more complicated.

☆☆☆☆

"Have you told her yet?" Charles asked.

Taju was back in Nigeria for Graduation and Prom so we were at his house, having an hang out, the girls in the kitchen preparing us something. It was few weeks to graduation so we decided to spend it together. We were all the pool side.

"How do you expect me to tell her, with everything she's going through at the moment. She practically just disowned her parents and then I will drop that kind of bombshell on her too?" I grimaced.

"It's difficult but the longer to procrastinate, the more difficult it gets." Kelvin said.

"I know but I don't know how to tell her na." O replied.

"If you don't tell her, I will." Taju said.

"Bros calm down jhoor. It's like you are stupid. What do you want to tell her ehn? How are you even to tell her? Let's experiment it sef. You will walk up to her and say 'hey Tiana, the love of your life, the only person you consider as a family is moving out of the country exactly on the day of our graduation and would probably stay there for good.' Is that how it's going to be?!" Joel snapped at Taju.

"What?!" A shriek came from behind and we turned to see Tiana standing feeds away from us. "You are moving out of the country?" I couldn't read her expression but I knew she was between hurt and pissed.

"Babe..." I stood up but she turned around and walked away. I looked back at the guys that were equally as shocked as I was.

"Great job Joel. You really at to let it out like that." Taju said, turning the whole thing around so that Joel would feel guilty.

"If I wooze you!!!" Joel snapped.

"Look on the bright side, Tyler. At least you have finally told her." Kelvin grinned and I glared at him.

This definitely didn't go as expected.

A/N

Well that was awkward. I'm so sorry for the late update I've been pretty busy. Yes, I'm on holiday and I'm still busy, it happens.

Seems like Tyler is moving, out of the country to be precise and Tiana is not happy with it. What would become of their relationship. Would Tyler be convinced to stay or he would leave at last? Can they even handle the long distance relationship?
