BLOODSPORT
CHAPTER EIGHT !

"THERE ARE SPECIFIC RULES that once must abide by in order to successfully survive a horror movie. For instance, number one..." said the actor that portrayed Randy Meeks in the Stab franchise as Pauline relaxed back into the couch.

From beside her, Mindy chuckled at the lines that she knew her very uncle had uttered to his group of friends. An small small crew on Pauline's lips at the sight of the happiness that exuded from the Meeks-Martin girl. As the party raged on around them and the effects of alcohol lowered everyone's inhibitions, the two had pressed themselves closely to each other.

A heavy sigh of frustration managed to break through the music which captured both girls attention. Their heads turned to face in the direction of the sigh, their sights landing upon Chad who rose up from his chair, clutching his phone tightly in his hands.

Mindy's eyes rolled into the back of her head as she reclined into the couch. "Don't do it. Don't go outside after her." She begged of her brother as she watched him halt in his place.

"She's not texting me back." Chad protested. He desperately wished to go and search for Liv who had vanished from the party nearly thirty minutes ago.

His sister sighed as she glanced briefly over at Pauline before she returned her gaze to the screen ahead. "Because she's probably dead."

At the sheer nonchalance that Mindy emitted, Pauline had no issue in shifted her body around to glare over at her friend. Her face was covered with horror. "Mindy, that's not funny. Don't joke about that."

Chad glared down at his twin. "Jesus, Mindy. That's my girlfriend, and I love her."

"Was your girlfriend." She uttered before taking a sip of her beer. Clearly the alcohol was beginning to seriously cloud her ability to mind her words. No way in hell would a sober Mindy say something so hurtful. She mightn't have liked

The boy scoffed. He couldn't believe the level of indifference his sister was capable of. "You're just gonna sit here and watch a movie about our uncle getting stabbed?" He questioned as he gestured to the screen that continued to play the first Stab movie.

"It calms me down, okay?" The Meeks-Martin girl defended with a shrug. When Chad continued to stare at her with irritation written all over his face, she let out a sigh. "I'm also gonna smoke some weed and possibly confess my feelings to Lina."

The Summers girl slowly nodded along with Mindy's words before realisation kicked in and all movement from the girl halted. "Wait, what?" She all but shrieked out as she stared wide eyed over at her best friend. Surely, she couldn't have heard what she actually heard, right?

"Have fun." Chad muttered to the pair before beginning to walk away again in search of the McKenzie girl.

Mindy released a groan. "Oh my god, at least take some sort of weapon." If he was to head off into the darkness, as a killer lurked about Woodsboro, then he could at least carry some kind of protection.

The teenage boy glanced back at Mindy and Pauline. "Here you go." He uttered before reaching out and grabbing hold of a lamp, gripping it tightly by its base.

The two observed him disappearing into the large crowd of people before turning to face each other once more. The weight of Mindy's words loomed in the air around them. Pauline, even in her drunken state, for the sake of saving face chose to face the situation with a giddy persona. If her assumptions were wrong, she could always blame her reaction on the alcohol.

"Confess your feelings, huh?" A teasing smirk grew upon her lips as she slowly moved forward. Had it not been for her inebriated state, Pauline would have never acted so brazenly. But thankfully, she was quite intoxicated and therefore her usual fear of being rejected had been smothered. "Do you like me, Mindy?"

"And if I did?" The curly haired girl replied back with her own smirk. Ever the more confident of the two, she knew that in a game of nerves, she'd emerge the victor.

Mindy's eyes grew wide however as Pauline took a deep breath before carefully and slowly leaning in closer, allowing the Meeks-Martin girl to pull away in the off chance that she had read the whole thing wrong.

The self confidence that Pauline had in that moment impressed Mindy greatly. The faintest breaths of laughter fell from her lips as she gradually tilted closer to the Summers girl, reaching forward and placing a hand upon Pauline's bare knee to balance herself. The two were close enough now that she swore she could feel Pauline's lips ghost over her own.

Though the music continued to blast around them and the slurred cheers of their fellow teens, as their lips finally met in an long overdue expression of love, the two teenagers were none the wiser to anything other than each other. Sighs of relief fell from the two. After years of fawning after one another, their thoughts and feelings were finally out in the open.

The kiss was slow and closed mouth at first, but it still managed to rouse a sweet little sigh from the Meeks-Martin girl, as Pauline released a groan from the back of her throat due to Mindy's hands that reached up to cradle Pauline's jaw.

As the minutes ticked by, Mindy's fingers had managed to get lost in the Summers girls hair, gripping on to the strands with much gusto. Pauline had found herself practically sitting on Mindy's lap. Every now and again, the softest of moans filled the air.

"Hey, somebodies goofy ass dad is kicking us out." Some random guy announced as he suddenly entered the living room, his voice breaking both Mindy and Pauline out of their own little world.

Mindy released a groan of frustration. "Goddamn it." She uttered while pulling away from the kiss. She couldn't help the smile that appeared as Pauline attempted to chase after her lips. She glanced around and took notice of the lack of drunken teenagers.

"Wait, everyone's leaving?" Pauline groggily questioned while wiping at her lips with the back of her hand, removing the remnants of lip gloss that had been smudged. As she glanced around, her eyes landed upon Sam's boyfriend standing in the kitchen. "Hey, why are you here? How are you here?"

The man stared back at the two girls sitting on the couch. "Tara had to grab her extra inhaler, she left it here." He then replied as he held onto the refrigerator door, meekly gesturing to the floor above.

At the news of her friend, Pauline almost immediately jumped to her feet. "Tara's here?" She couldn't help but wonder why Tara even needed her extra inhaler.

"Yeah, she's up the stairs with your friend Amber." Richie's head nodded as he spoke.

"I'm gonna see her. I'll be right back." The Summers girl assured Mindy with a sweet little smile. No matter how much she wanted to sit back down and kiss the girl she'd adored for so long, Pauline couldn't just let Tara leave without speaking to her.

Mindy playfully released a heavy sigh as she leaned her head back into the plush couch cushions. "You're leaving me already? And for a friend?" Despite her words, a huge grin grew on her lips as she spoke, giving away the fact that she was indeed messing around.

A deadpan expression fell across Pauline's face while she rolled her eyes at the girl's behaviour. "God, you're so dramatic. Continue watching your movie and I'll be back before you know it." With that, she sent both Mindy and Richie a small smile before making her way out of the Living room.

She was quick to ascend the staircase, keeping her eyes peeled for any sign of the Carpenter girl, while her hand gripped the banister with as much strength as she could muster up. She may have been drunk but she was certainly sober enough at this point to remember that safety was important when inebriated on the stairs. Her vision was also slightly impaired, so she needed to take extra precautions.

"Tara?" Her voice carried throughout the second floor of the Freeman residence as she reached the top step. She began to walk over in the direction of Amber's room, figuring if Tara's spare inhaler was to be anywhere in that house, it was most likely have been in there. "Amber?"

Her brows furrowed at the lack of response. Surely, they had heard her. With the absence of music, her voice most definitely would have reached them. "Where are yo—"

Before the young girl could finish her line of inquiry and without warning, she was aggressively grabbed and yanked back into an open door. She was jostled around which made her already wavering world that much more dizzying. The room was cloaked in darkness leaving Pauline unable to see her attackers face.

As she fought against the attackers hold, the young girl desperately trying to break free and escape, an all too familiar voice harshly whispered in her ear. "You should really know better than to go snooping, Lina."

Amber's voice was low as she spoke as if she only intended for Pauline to hear her. Unable to gain her freedom from Amber's hold, Pauline was but a victim ready for the taking as the Freeman girl made quick work of her. Before Pauline could plead for her life, before she could beg Amber to let her go, the wind knocked out of her in an instant as a intense, blinding pain shot through her lower back.

She'd never been stabbed before, that much was true but it didn't take a genius for Pauline to realise that a foreign object that had been slammed into her back. The large kitchen knife tore through her back, breaking past the barrier of flesh and muscle with ease before pulling back out, now drenched in crimson.

Her blood very quickly began to pour from her wound as Pauline whimpered out in agony. Amber released her hold and dropped her in seconds, causing the girl to fall face first into the wooden floorboards. Her face was pressed against the floor, the surface scratching her skin every time she moved.

As the idea to scream for someone's help, to capture someone's attention from downstairs by crying out at the top of her lungs, that plan was foiled instantly as Amber placed a piece of duct tape over her mouth. She had thought of everything.

The door to the room opened up again allowing the briefest sliver of light to crack through. From where she lay on the ground bleeding out, Pauline could see the staircase just feet away. Her salvation walked about freely just down the stairs, none the wiser to her plight. Her breathing began to pick up speed as Amber smirked down at her while standing in the doorway.

With one last glance, Amber made her way out of the room, shutting the door behind her. Darkness filled every corner of the room again and as Pauline was left behind on the floor, she weakly attempted to call out for help. Her voice was muffled and low. As the blood flowed from her wound at an alarming rate, Pauline had no other option but to pray and hope that someone, anyone would find her.

Even as her eyes slowly began to close and she started to drift in and out of consciousness, Pauline tried to hold on to the hope that she would survive. With so much life left to live, going out as a victim of a wannabe Ghostface was most definitely not how Pauline Summers wanted to die.
