𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐑𝐨𝐜𝐤 ╰┈➤Annabeth Chase

Kayla watched amusedly as her sister twirled around the cabin, stuck in her own world while music played from her phone (that she was not supposed to have).

The ginger girl shifted on her bed, crossing her legs. It was common for Y/N to be doing this, dancing and singing along to songs she liked when most of the other Apollo kids were out and the cabin had enough space. After all, music was in her blood.

The interesting part? It was a love song that she was singing the lyrics of.

A love song, and she'd never listen to those with others around. Which can only mean one thing; Y/N's encountering new feelings, and she didn't seem to mind it all that much. But let's be real, that wasn't that suprising. The way she always fiddled with her bracelets, or the hearts in her eyes spelled out W.H.I.P.P.E.D in capital red letters.

"Y/N" Kayla spoke up over the music, her blue eyes twinkling. "When are you finally going to ask out Chase?" She asked, which caused her half-sister to choke on her own saliva as she stumbled a little.

Y/N cleared her throat nervously. "You know I can't, Kay. I..."

"I- I- I-" She mocked with a high-pitched voice, rolling her eyes. "Do you even hear yourself right now?"

Sighing, the daughter of Apollo went to turn off the music. "It's not that simple. Annabeth probably doesn't like me like that."

The Athena and Apollo girls were friends since Y/N came to camp at 9. And years later, that hasn't changed. They still hung out every day, helped each other with training, went stargazing, and sometimes snuck out. Annabeth was never a fan of that last one, but it always ended with her smiling.

From the inside, the cabin looked similar to a mix of a temple and a farmhouse. Y/N climbed up the ladder to where the hay store would've been, and laid down on one of the many beds sprawled out there- hers-, dragging a hand down her face.

"Love is so confusing" She groans.

"You won't know how she feels if you don't ask her." argues Kayla.

Y/N's looking at her wrist, at the matching bracelet she and Annabeth have. Hers is golden with a little sun chain and a sapphire stone in the middle, while Annabeth's is silver and has an owl with ruby eyes.

She glances back down at Kayla, who's still looking at her. "I don't... I just don't feel like the time is right."

The ginger female smiles. "You just need a good opportunity; the perfect fleeting moment."

"But... when will I get that next 'good opportunity'?"

The front door of the Apollo cabin suddenly bursts open without a warning. Will and Austin had the brightest grins on their faces.

"You guys" Austin begins. "We have the perfect idea."

Will nods along. "We had a talk with the Dionysus cabin, and decided we want to pester Chiron and Mr D to let us throw a dance!" He made jazz hands, grinning. "It's gonna work since... ya know, they love us."

Kayla's face lit up. She turns to her sister. "There's your opportunity."

---------------

Annabeth looked around the flashing bright lights and the blaring music, not sure whether to feel bored or curious. She stood by the (non-alcoholic) mini bar in the Dining Hall, watching as other campers had fun dancing and goofing around. The tables had been moved (which she definetely needed to find more about! She always thought they were rooted to the ground).

First of all, she felt a little out of her element in the dark blue one-shoulder sheath dress she was wearing. Her hair was, for once, open and thrown over one shoulder, decorated by silverish-grey laurel clips.

Honestly, the Athena girl was sure she looked good, but could Piper not have chosen something less... extravagant? At least people couldn't see her converse under that gown. Otherwise she would've fallen over trying to take a single step.

When Annabeth snapped out of her thoughts, she saw the Apollo cabin arrive. Gracie went to find her boyfriend in the crowd, Jerry sauntered to the dance floor. Will talked to the daughter of Dionysus that was in charge of the lighting, Carolina grabbed some cake at the snack bar, Austin and Kayla went over to some pretty Aphrodite girls.

And then there was Y/N.

Annabeth fought back the blush crawling up her face.

She was gorgeous.

Y/N was clad in a F/C bouffant dress, intricate jewelery glittering on her arms and neck. Her smile was radiant, infectious, yet calm. And her eyes that seemed to hold a hundred shades of E/C shone as beautifully as the lights.

She looked around for a few seconds, then found Annabeth and skipped over to her. "Annabeth!" She called out. Despite her big smile, there was a nervous energy around her.

Annabeth smirked. "Hey. Did Kayla force you to come?"

"Yup. You? Did Piper force you to come?"

"She did."

Both girls laughed at that.

Percy, Jason and Piper, from a good distance, sent smirks into their direction that neither of them saw.

The two just looked so... happy. Perfect for one another, and everybody but seemingly them could see that with a first glance.

Suddenly, the music blasting from the speakers changed, going from a cheery pop song to a relatively slow waltz.

Which made Y/N gulp.

"Hey, Annabeth," She began nervously. "Wanna dance?"

The Athena girl's eyes darted from the dance floor to Y/N and back a few times, as if she was weighing her options. Considering.

And then she said 'yes'.

Y/N took her hand in hers and began gently tugging her to the direction of the dance floor. She held Annabeth's back, which caused her stomach to do a flip. Annabeth placed her other hand on her shoulder, as they both started swaying a little.

"You're good at this." Annabeth mused.

"Really?" asked Y/N. "I do like dancing, but I'm not as good as with singing."

Annabeth chuckled. "Well, I think you're a master at both."

The daughter of Apollo held Annabeth's hand a bit higher, twirled her around, and caught her again, grinning. "Thanks."

It was like that for a while, dancing, chatting, nimble touches that almost electrocuted both females. Multiple songs and different dances came on, swing, then lambada, then tango and quickstep, and the list goes on.

Eventually however, the two demigods were beginning to feel tired. They spent a while at the snack bar throwing takis and chips at each other, before deciding to walk back to their cabins.

It wasn't that late, maybe 10 PM, as a gentle summer breeze swept across the land. Y/N looked up at the sky, and the stars reflected in her eyes. Annabeth watched her from the side, and even though her friend was a child of Apollo, she found the H/C-ette was as pretty at night as she was during the day, if not even prettier.

"..The stars are really pretty tonight." Annabeth said, tearing her gaze.

"Mhm." nodded Y/N.

They soon reached the front porch of the Apollo cabin, and Y/N walked up the steps.

She halted at the door. Her siblings were all still at the dance, so she was the first one here- at least that meant she wouldn't have to fight anyone for the bathroom.

"Thanks for tonight, Annie. I can imagine you would've left the dance earlier if it wasn't for me."

Annabeth smiled. She wouldn't have that much of a walk from here. Athena's cabin was opposite the Ares cabin, which was right next to Apollo's. "It's nothing. I'm glad you had fun."

Y/N wanted to turn around, but she just couldn't stop smiling at the Athena girl. She began to think about what Kayla told her; "you just need a good opportunity; the perfect fleeting moment".

Honestly, she thought that was just a cheesy comment for her sister to make to cheer her up. Surely the intellectual daughter of Athena wouldn't date a child of Apollo. There wasn't such a thing as the perfect moment, right?

But she felt like that was now.

Annabeth began to walk away, but the Apollo girl surged forward and grabbed her shoulders, spinning her around. The blonde, suprised, was about to open her mouth.

But Y/N cut her off by pressing her lips onto hers.

Grey irises widen, and Annabeth stills. Her heart stops beating. The feeling of the daughter of Apollo's mouth against hers is new, unexcpected, but warm.

It feels so right.

She likes that.

Y/N pulls back, and only now Annabeth realises she didn't kiss back at all, which she silently cursed herself for, a bit disappointed.

"I love you, Annabeth." She admitted. "Oh gods, I love you so much."

That left Annabeth speechless.

She was never speechless.

Her mouth opened and closed a few times, before she nervously wrapped her arms around Y/N.

"I-I love you too."

And that was nothing but the whole truth. A part in the back of her mind thought about how she confided in Percy, Piper, heck, even Leo when she felt like she needed love advice. How she always stared at Y/N in amazement, a fond smile unknowingly growing on her lips.

She always thought it was stupid, that her feelings would go away soon.

But as she looked at the girl in front of her, she thought that maybe she didn't want them to go away.

Y/N looked up at her, eyes subtly glittering with both pleading and hope.

"Will you please be my girlfriend?"

Annabeth shook her head. "No." Then, she quickly grinned. "Ask me out on a date first."

Y/N could only smile at that, relieved. "Sure."
